Even if a character is extremely arrogant and does the whole mustache twirling thing that you mentioned, there are ways to develop plot using the characteristics of that character, and if something plot-related happens as a result, I would say that is a success since I could imagine that sort of stuff being entertaining. 

You aren't wrong, but that's why i suggest every time you keep the threads to PP or SP cause you have more control of the narrative. You can't be running around 'murdering' people in OP threads that allow frontline players to crash the party
