Slayer

After getting the rewards from finishing the third quest- and leveling up as well- Cynthia turned to her black clad companion, "Shall we continue? For the next quest we apparently have to take this package to  fisherman who lives up by a mountain lake on this floor. It shouldn't be too hard." And then hardly giving any time for an answer the red head headed off to the main gate of the Town of Beginnings, taking out the ring of evasion she had gotten as a reward from the previous quest and putting it on. Hopefully with this I won't get hit so much. Cynthia exited the Town of Beginnings, looked around for the quest marker, and then once she located it she headed off towards the mountains at the edge of the floor. She looked back to see if Darky was still following her. She didn't really know anymore if she didn't care if he was following her. Do I actually care if he is there...

Cynthia heard the boar squeal and then shatter behind but she just kept walking. She wanted to get this quest over with so she had better go catch up to Darky. He shouldn't be too far away since it didn't take to long to kill that boar. Except that didn't seem to be the case. Must be a fast walker. So the red headed player made the not too long walk over green hills and over streams back to the Town of Beginnings. Once there Cynthia quickly made her way to the center of tow nadn the grove where the quest giver NPC was since that's where Darky said he would wait for her. And that's exactly where the tall dark clad player was, sitting with his pet fire cat. Cynthia gave him a smile, more of a sneer, "How's it going Darky?" And then turned in the quest to the artisan lady giving her the jewel, "Shall we be off to the next quest?" 

As the red head stood up she heard the approach of thundering hooves. So instead of attacking Cynthia abandoned that idea and quickly dodge rolled out of the way of the charging boar. Cynthia got to her feet, Vallen still in hand, and saw that the massive monster's health was still slowly but surely draining. It had barely any of it left and the icon was still by the now red health bar. Its going to die even before I'll get to attack it again, Cyn realized so instead of attack she simply walked towards where she had discarded Vallen's sheath and then sheathed her massive odachi. The fight was already over even if the stupid monster didn't even know it. The boar began to charged the red head even as she began walking away. let's go find Darky and then we can go complete this quest and start the next one. There's only one more if I remember correctly. 

The player has an average face besides the intense orange eyes and the burn mark, but other than that it was a normal face. The orange eyed player started to say what seemed to be a threat but he burst out laughing halfway through. It seemed he was a much more emotional person especially compared to Cynthia. The red head nodded at his first statement and then continues on her way out of the bar. "Alright let's start hunting... Are you going to tell me your name now that you've revealed your face?" Cynthia questioned the player since when they had first met he said he didn't give out his face because he didn't want anyone to know him so why would he give out his name but now he had just revealed his face. As Cynthia waits for his answer she checks over her gear and items. since this isn't the first floor I'll have to be more careful and more prepared.

The red head nods at the other player's explanation of what's on the quest board and then when he brings up killing monsters Cyn nods, "I'm good enough will a blade so let's go out and kill some monsters." Cynthia got up, drained her beer, and then began to make her way out of the bar before the dark haired player stopped her by asking a question. Could she keep a secret? I can definitely keep a secret. Mostly because I don't care enough about others to really reveal secrets to others. "I can definitely keep a secret, no problem." The red head watched as he slides up his mask revealing his lower face. So is he going to show his face after saying he wasn't going to? What made him change his mind? It could've been anything I did since I really did nothing. Cynthia shrugs to herself. Doesn't matter.

Cynthia charges forward, heading straight for the massive boar's exposed side before the beast could turn around and charge again. She gripped her odachi tightly then swung the massive blade at the monster in a large slashing attack before bringing it back around for another quick cut. The boar squealed in rage as the two cuts sank deep into it and it spun on its heels before slamming its razor sharp tusks into her gut. Cynthia was thrown back into the air but she managed to catch herself and land on the ground. She had taken a good amount of damage but when she looked back up at the boar she say the same droplets of blood icon by its health bar. So I got a good hit on it and now its bleeding. Nice. I should be able to kill it in one more hit thanks to that. Cynthia grinned crookedly and stood back up, ready to attack again.

Cynthia followed the other player into the bar that he pointed out and sits down at the booth he chooses. He orders a scotch and then says that he'll cover whatever she's getting. Cynthia is about to say water when she realizes something, Mom and Dad aren't here to control you. You can choose to do whatever you want. "I'll have a beer. That will be all." Cynthia told the waiter and then turned back to the other player who had since tilted back his mask to eat a hamburger revealing slightly wavy black hair to go with his orange eyes as well as pale skin with an old burn mark above his right eye. The red head stares for a couple seconds before looking away. She had never seen someone with such a large burn mark especially on their face. I wonder how he got it? But Cyn didn't ask that she simply asked, "What work do they usually have? I'm fairly low level so I'm used to only being able to do the easy and stupid quests." Cynthia looks back to the black haired player.

Cynthia's cold grey eyes spark for a moment becoming hot with hate and fury. The red head grimaces and shakes her head. Play nice. "Fair enough tin can. My name's Cynthia," She did not extend a hand, "And I'm in town because I needed a change of scenery form the the first floor's hills and streams. And while this is a change this floor isn't much better." As the player equips more casual clothes- still with a mask though- Cynthia falls into step with him heading to whatever bar he was going to. He had a large katana on his back but it wasn't as big as her odachi which was frankly massive for someone of her size. She shrugged her shoulders and kept moving when he offered to bye her a drink, Sure I'll take a drink though I'm not really looking for anything specific to do." I wonder why he hides his face. Is he scared or something? That's really the only reason to hide your face- if you don't want anyone knowing your identity because you're scared of if they did. That's why robbers mask their faces because they're scared of the repercussions. Just a scared little boy. Cynthia couldn't help but chuckle a bit to herself a crooked and almost sick grin on her face.

As Darky headed off with a wave saying he would meet her at the quest giver and not to die, Cynthia actually had mixed feelings. She was partly glad that the intrusive and unwanted companion was gone but then again he had his head firmly planted on his shoulders unlike most people the red head had met. Also he was strong and had a certain mystique to him. Cynthia quickly turned her attention back to the fight just as the boar began to charge her. The red head quickly leapt to the side and braced her odachi with both hands pushing aside the boar's thrashing tusks. The monster barreled past her and Cynthia quickly re-positioned so that she could actually get an attack off next time. This boar was much faster than the other full grown adult boars in addition to being bigger and probably a fair margin stronger by its looks.

Cynthia was on a higher floor- six or something- just trying to get out of the monotony of the green hills, streams, and trees of the first floor. And this floor definitely helped in that regard. Instead of rolling hills there were massive jungle trees that formed a lush canopy of green that contrasted with the blue sky. She was in the main city- whatever its name was she didn't care, she would find out when it mattered- just walking around the main streets. She was heading towards the center of the city to see if she could find a quest board or something. The red head was simply walking along when someone- another player in heavy armor and a helmet- bumped into her. She scowled at the player as he apologized. She looked up at the player. Not much could be seen except his orange eyes through his helmet and Cynthia didn't care to find out more about him. She didn't care who he was. Then again I met Darky by bumping into him and Darky isn't so bad so maybe this guy isn't either. The red head sighed and waved off his apology, "Its... fine." The girl said through gritted teeth. Goodness it was hard to apologize. Then trying to be polite she asked him his name, "So... What is your name? I'm Cynthia." All the words seemed strained. How are people this stupid and nice?

The dark red haired player began heading back to the the Town of beginnings, she strolled ahead of her dark haired and dark clad companion and his pet fire cat, moving past streams, bushes and copses of trees. Cynthia kept walking hardly looking around or regarding her surroundings which she probably should have been doing. Especially once a massive boar came charging out of a small grouping of trees straight towards the lightly armored red head. Cyn's years of gymnastics probably saved her from a hit right then. She quickly got into a loaded position and then jumped upwards out of the boar's path, arcing over the monster and landing behind him. Cyn grimaced and drew out her odachi, tossing aside the sheath. I swear every monster that catches a glimpse of me tries to kill me. Probably because I'm such low level. Whatever it is its time to kill this boar.

The red headed player walked over to the cavern wall, one hand empty and the other gripping her odachi Vallen, and she started to removed one of the crystal. For the fact that it was embedded into a rock wall it was fairly easy to remove the gem. Cynthia only had to struggle with the glowing stone for a minute or two before she got it free and then put it in her inventory. After that she turned back to the exit and began to retrace her steps towards the outside world. Thankfully, even in the pitch black darkness, Cynthia was able to make back outside easily. Darky was waiting outside of the cave with his familiar and Cynthia simply walked past him and began the return back to the Town of Beginnings. "Come on Darky let's go back and turn in this dumb quest." And with that the red head continued walking.

Cynthia goes to retrieve her sheath as the cave guardian stumbles after he, Its health bar inexorably ebbing away. The red head sheaths her odachi just as the monster's health bar reaches zero and it crumbles into pixels of red light. "Alright Darky, The monster's dead. Let's go find that crystal and then get out of here." Cynthia looked around til she found where the other player's flaming familiar was. After locating that she continued on further into the cavern and hopefully to find whatever crystal the artisan person wanted. After a couple twists and turns the duo came to a larger cavern that was brighter than usual because it seemed to have faintly glowing gems embedded in the rock walls. "I guess this is where I get the crystal." And with that The red haired player moved over to the cavern wall, intent on removing one of the glowing gems.

Cynthia shifted her grip on her odachi. The red head's eyes dart uselessly about while her eyes strain just as much for any sound. Thankfully its hard to miss once the cave guardian begins moving since it sounds like a small rock slide. Cynthia waits half a second to let the monster get closer then she smoothly moves to the side, ducking as she does. She feels the displaced air as the guardian's fist flies inches above her head. Cyn scowls and activates a sword art. Her blade glows white- illuminating the area just around Vallen's blade- and sparks as she lays into the monster. She executes two quick but powerful slashes and watches as the health bar of the guardian depletes going past half. Cyn grins and her cold eyes flash. The monster stumbles backwards, its joints creaking and groaning. It seems to still be weakened and then the red headed player notices something. There is an icon of sorts by the end of the guardian's health bar. It looks like a couple drops of red blood. Interesting...

As the red head charged the massive stone golem, the monster swung its massive club of a fist forcing the spry girl to halt her attack and jump to the side. Cynthia cursed under her breath and quickly rolled backwards as the creature swung a wildly haymaker at the girl. Th blow missed but it still slammed into the ground causing the entire cavern to shake which knocked the already off balance girl down to the ground. Cynthia cursed again and then shakily rose to her feet. This thing is strong and quite powerful but if I could just hit it once I could get it off balance and kill it. Cynthia scanned her surroundings. It was pitch black except for the small orange glow from Darky's fire cat familiar. And that light was definitely not helping the red head's dark vision. She could just barely see the outline of the cave guardian.

The red headed player nodded at the girl's statement, "There are beginner quests to help players start up. They are quite simple and relatively boring but the rewards are good enough and they give some good experience." Cynthia looked at the white haired girl closely. The player seemed to be shy and a little unsure. She would need help. Cynthia stared at the girl for a couple more long seconds then continued, "I could help you on this first quest by accompanying you. The first quest is extremely easy. You won't even have to go too far out of the town to complete it. Still if you would like I can help you. I would probably go hunting monsters but I would be close enough to you. You just have to collect materials for this starting quest?" Cynthia waited for the girl's answer almost giddily. She never had gotten to do what she wanted to do as a kid. That's why this game was so amazing and fun.

Cynthia ventured deeper into the cave. Darky had moved on somewhere else, leaving his familiar behind. Cyn shrugged her shoulders and kept moving. He was probably observing not too far away though how he would observe in this nigh absolute darkness. Cynthia's eyes darted about in the darkness looking for the gem she was supposed to find. Just as the red head rounded a corner she heard something rumble, almost like a boulder had decided to move from its original spot. On instinct Cynthia drew out Vallen and slashed out with the long blade. The blade hissed through empty air. Cynthia quickly brought the weapon up and braced it with her hands just as a massive rocky first smashed into her. Cynthia went flying and felt the effect of potion she drank give her shatter as it took the full force of the attack. The red head landing in a loaded position, waited half a second to catch her breath, and then charged towards the massive figure.

Cynthia moved about the main plaza of the Town of Beginnings, her long red hair flowing behind her. She had some time to kill before she continued on her beginning quests. She passed by the park and other players who were just strolling around. The red head scanned the area as she walked, taking in everything. One thing caught her eye, weirdly enough. It was a girl, sitting alone on a bench, and looking fairly depressed. Cynthia's initial reaction was to sniff in disdain and turn to begin walking away. Then something stopped her. The red head didn't know what it was but she felt compelled to go over to the white haired girl. And so Cyn did, if just to get rid of the weird feeling. "Hey...What are you doing?" Cynthia asked the moping girl.  She felt awkward doing it. Cynthia hardly ever talked to people of her own volition. Her parents had always chosen who she could and would interact with.

Post Action: Using Safeguard Potion

Cynthia nods at Darky's advice and continues into the dark cave. A heavy hitting guardian huh? Didn't I get something last quest that could help with that?  Cynthia paused for a second to look through her inventory until she found the potion she had received as a reward for the last quest. Safeguard potion? sounds like it should be helpful. Cynthia pulled out the potion, unstoppered it and then drank it all. The potion itself tasted like hot syrup. Just like molten sugar going down. "Well that stuff tasted awful hopefully it helps." The red head then continued into the shadowed cavern. Once she was a good way inside the cavern, Cynthia realized that she could hardly see through the darkness. Fighting in this should interesting. Cynthia gripped the handle of her odachi in anticipation. Hopefully this quest would be a little more interesting and fun then the last two and hopefully it would have a good reward.

Cynthia nods her head and keeps moving, striding through the streets, and pushing past players and NPC. She never looked back to see if Darky was following her. The red head simply moved purposefully towards the the exit of the Town of Beginnings her odachi, Vallen, strapped to her back. Once outside of the city the read headed player removed the long blade from her back and held the sheathed blade in her right hand. Then she began moving to where the artist had said the cave would be. Hopefully it won't be too long of a trek. I want to get this quest over with as fast as possible. Cynthia moved past clusters of trees, hopped over streams, and trekked up the green hills until one of the closer mountains that enclosed the first floor came into view. "The the cave is probably over there," Cyn said pointing to the mountain. She stopped and turned to Darky, "Remember anything from when you did this quest that will help me get it done sooner, Darky?"

Cynthia quickly made her way through the Town of Beginnings heading for the relative center of the town. Just west of the central plaza there was a small grove which Cyn had never been to but according to the old blacksmith the recipient of the package was there. And so the red headed girl quickly made her towards the only person there. She was a woman with with long brown hair- nearly as long as Cynthia's own- who was doing sketches of the trees around her. Cynthia, not caring about interrupting the artist's work strode right up to her and gave her the package from the blacksmith. "This is for you," The red head said and then she stood waiting for the simple quest that would inevitably come. And it came indeed. The artist unwrapped her package revealing a simple and unadorned gold ring.  Then the artist turned to Cynthia and told her that in a nearby cave there would be a jewel that if Cyn brought it back to her, she could mark her a simple trinket. Cynthia was already walking to where the artist pointed the cave would be when the artist gave a warning about a cave guardian. Cynthia hardly listened. After the last quest she was able to put ranks into her katana skill. Killing the cave guardian would be an easy task. "Let's go Darky. Its questing time." Cynthia told her tall and dark haired companion. I wonder what his actual name is.

"I agree." The red head nodded in affirmation and began heading back to the walled Town of Beginnings. Their boar hunting escapade hadn't taken them too far from the beginning town but the pair still had a good trek back. The duo made their way past clusters of trees and over streams and rivers back to the main gate of the Town of Beginnings. Cynthia pushed her way through the crowd straight to the blacksmith shop. Once there the red head handed over the boar tusks to the old smith. Then Cyn waited since she knew there would be a second part. The smith handed her another package and told her to delivery it to an artisan at the grove in the center of town. Cynthia nodded her head turned to her companion, said "We've got one more stop," and then headed off to the center of town. I'm guessing this artisan will be the next one to give me a quest. 

Cynthia charged down the final boar while the monster was still in the process of turning around. Because of this her saber strike caught the beast right in the side. The curved blade sunk deep into the the boar pup and it squealed in pain. Cynthia grinned as she watched its health bar drop to zero and then as the monster shattered into particles of light. Cynthia sheathed her blade just as her inventory gave a ding. The red head opened it and saw that the boar had dropped the last tusk she needed. Cynthia turned to Darky to see the dark haired player carrying some sort of chest. Cynthia shrugged and said, "That was the last tusk. Let's go turn in this quest and then we can keep going. The next two shouldn't take as long." The red head grinned her eyes sparking with a mixture of excitement and ambition. 

“Interesting,” Cynthia said as Darky spoke about the quest and professions as well as accuracy enhancements. “Hold that thought Darky.” At that the red head charged ahead towards the boars she had spotted. This time Cynthia did not try to sneak up to the monsters. She simply charged at them. The boars lifted up their heads just as Cynthia was closing in on them.

Cynthia sprung forward and thrust her sword art augmented blade into the face of one of the boars. It’s health bar dropped to zero and Cynthia pushed off of it, pulling her blade out and springing backwards from the now pixelated monster. Cynthia then turned to see the second boar charging down on her. Cynthia quickly tried to sidestep the boar but the it’s thrashing tusks still caught her leg. The hit did minimal damage. Cynthia spun on her heel and ran after the boar hoping to attack it before it could turn and begin a second charge.
