  1. Shay put her hand on her hip after returning her blade to her inventory. He should have heard what she said clearly to the built in translator, though it was funny to think that he hadn't even turned the function on yet. "It's called Japanese." The girl said before starting to make her way out of the arena and back towards the safe zone of the floor.

"Our next quest is a long quest line. Should be some pretty easy experience to level us up quickly. Plus it's any fantasy gamer's dream: To fight dragons. The first four are so I could probably one shot on my own at this point so that should be an easy few levels. These types of long quest lines are also likely to have nice rewards at the end of them. Maybe we'll get some unique gear without having to leave it up to RNG to drop it for me."

  2. Though the ravaging, enraged beast thought it had a handle on things, it was not ready for the tiny girl with a katana to put it to shame. It flailed wildly attempting to shake her off its body to no avail. The rogue kept her grip on its arm, climbing up with a fast enough pace to reach the neck in mere seconds. Her katana mimicked the color of blood, ringing with a sound of dominance and power.

Just barely, ChaseR could hear her say something in her native language. "Homiru!" With several red slashes of light, the beast froze in place. Shay jumped from it's shoulder and landed in the sand, summoning her saya to return the weapon to it's resting place. As she slid the blade back into the holster, the creature's head exploded into data, following it's body. "Nimu Kanyou." The walls of sand disappeared and the quest completion details appeared before them.

Translation Notes: Homiru - "You're Finished!"; Nimu Kanyou - "Mission Complete."

  3. Finally, after a week, she would have a chance to let loose; To shake a bit of tension off her shoulders. Approaching the center of the arena, the giant butcher, a massive crocodile awaited her. They would be trapped in this place until someone emerged victorious. Someone being her.

The massive reptilian shrieked a loud growl of terror as she approached. Unmoved from it's attempts to taunt her, she simply summoned her sword to her hand and pulled it free of the saya. The painted holster of the weapon landed in the sand behind her before disappearing to her inventory.

The Sando Satsu charged her recklessly at her - First mistake. She ducked under the best's hand dodging the blade with ease. With a quick motion, her katana sunk into the arm of scales, lifting her up it grew in size and strength. Climbing up to get her footing, she started to run up the beasts arm towards it's head.

  4. "Yeah, its a pushover." She replied. She knew that it could cut through mitigation with ease. Funny thing about that, if you hardly had any mitigation in the first place, why would you even care? She could easily walk into this arena alone and find herself victorious. Two hits and boom it was all done.

Looking up at the giant arena, she didn't seem to falter one bit. She had been sitting around for days in their new home doing absolutely nothing. It was about time she got to release a little frustration. Even though Chaser seemed to want to take the lead, the girl stepped ahead of him and started to make her way into the arena. Once the battle started, no one was allowed to leave it until the party or the boss was dead. A pretty tragic boss all in all, but not to high leveled players like the two of them.

  5. After several days of break, Chase was ready to return to the grinding. Though she knew he was out leveling up without her, she had really just stopped caring at this point. If she didn't get out and do something soon, she was going to lose her mind again. The whole reason she picked Chase up as a partner that day was because she didn't want to work on leveling up on her own. The pace had slowed down for awhile, but she was ready to see through the second tier and make it up to the front lines.

The two traveled to floor five today. Curse this floor and it's stupid existence. It was always way to hot up here for comfort, even with the survival skill helping her fend off the heat of the sands better. Shay turned to Chaser and simply asked: "Are you ready to go?"

  6. Shay was quiet for most of the way back home. She didn't really have much to say. There was still so much going on in her mind that overwhelmed her. Too many feelings and concerns to be dealt with all at once piling up on top of her. If she couldn't let out her frustration in combat, what the hell else could she do?

Back on the fourth floor, the fresh smell of snow was a the welcome home. She took the lead with Chaser like she usually did, making their way back to her shop. When he brought up needing the money to make them a house, she simply shrugged to him and transferred the money over to him without much of a problem.

When they got inside the shop, she would lie down on the mat that she had brought in for him and close her eyes to rest awhile. Maybe try to get these needlessly worrisome thoughts off her mind.

  7. "I'm just fine right now. Sitting around doing nothing isn't only boring but it leaves me weak. Being weak isn't a problem; staying weak is. I won't let this world conquer me... But if you insist that we must stop then fine." She looked off to the side and wrapped her fingers around his. Her eyes moved down at Grace Eon, who seemed to smile at her.

Things were complicated this way. She didn't want to wait around, but she knew that she would have to because of Chase. He obviously wasn't as well suited for the grind as she was. Maybe she could find time to do a quest solo. There were a few that she needed to accomplish since they couldn't be undertaken in a group. Chase would probably be fine with that. "Let's just go home and talk more about it there." She said as they passed into the safe zone.

  8. "We just came back from resting. I'm glad that we have time to relax but I don't want to get too complacent. We can take a few days rest, but lets get back to it soon." Shay responded, pulling herself to her feet and looking around for wherever Grace Eon and Blizz went. They were waiting a little bit away from the docks to ensure that that they wouldn't get caught up in the fighting and pulled under the water.

Shay began to lead the way back to the safe zone where they could teleport back to the fourth floor where home awaited. Normally she would have done more in a day of grinding, but she didn't want Chase to get overwhelmed with it all again. She worried about his mental state, cause even if the body feels no pain, that doesn't mean you were numb to everything else around you.

  9. It looks like things were getting much more difficult. It was fine though, Chase had the health points to take on the Moretsuna, but it was best to help him as quickly as possible. Tightening the grip on her blade, still embedded into the skin of the beast, Shay twisted the katana in it's body. A blood red hue emitted from the wound where her sword glowed with power. Sliding onto her back, she tore the blade down the side of the beast. It's health points went down to zero and it's head split from it's body.

Shay splashed in the water just as the fish exploded into a pixelated mess. After taking a moment to make sure that Chase could make it out of the water, she swam up to shore with him and let out a few deep breaths. "You doing alright? That was pretty rough. I'd say we could head back home now and rest."

  10. Shay watched her significant other rush into the fight once more to serve his blade to the fish. He had been a lot more ballsy lately, so hopefully he was getting better with all of this. He was still working on perfecting his tank play, but at least he was getting better with taking things head on.

Though, her heart nearly skipped a beat when he nearly got swallowed by the lake. She wasn't going to let this giant fish bull him. Jumping onto the back of the fish, her blade flashed with a bright red, making tons of cuts through the creatures back. "Better pay more attention, or I'll turn you into sushi!" She yelled, digging her blade one more time into the creature's back, deep as it can go. If her attacks were good enough, maybe Chase could shake free from the Moretsuna and reposition himself to finish it off.

  11. "Taming of the Magpies. You chose a bird and it'll bring you back an item from what I've picked up. Might as well see if we can get anything nice." Shay said as she continued through the crowded ways of tents and attractions. It probably wouldn't be anything insane, but anything they could get a hold of would be nice. Besides, it would be fun in the end.

Once they appraoched the tent of magpies, a person greeted. "Yo, I'm sitting in for gramps tonight. Wanna give it a shot?" She asked. Shay nodded in response and headed into the tent. She quickly picked the most confident looking of all the birds she could find in the tent. It chirped at her before flying off and bringing back with it a vial of red liquid. Clicking the item info showed it was a perfect damage potion. "Nice. I can use this for sure."

  12. Shay had nearly forgotten about the stars that were in her inventory. Those boys needed them for something or whatever. She didn't pay too much attention to the quest details, she mainly just wanted the skill points for completing the quest or whatever rewards came with it. "Right, they were over this way I think." She says walking through the crowd of people towards the young quest givers.

The even likely wasn't going to be lasting much longer, but as long as she got the experience for attending that's what mattered. It had actually been relaxing to sit around and not worry so much about the troubles of the game. Kind of ironic that she was also progressing in the game while doing that relaxing. When the two approached the young boys, Shay pulled the little stars from her inventory and reached them out to them. "Here are the stars that you guys were asking for."

  13. Shay relaxed into a smile after she finished writing down her wishes. It was nice to see Chase taking an interest in her culture, but most importantly, she was just glad that he was relaxing a bit and not really worrying so much about the game. When she started leveling up, her mind was solely on gaining experience and that had driven her insane to the point of wanting to quit. She may have taught him a ton about the game, but he certainly taught her how to handle things with moderation. Taking things at a reasonable pace as opposed to as quick as possible made all the difference for her so far.

"You'll have to hang your wishes on the bamboo trees. Once the wish comes true, you can comeback and take it down." Shay explained, doing just as she said. She hung her own papers on a low hanging branch and moved out of the way for Chase to do the same.

    [Hangs Tanzaku]

  14. The rogue stood to her feet, finally finding the time to unsheathe her sword and get ready for combat. ChaseR was a bit faster to get in the action since she was busy fiddling with the fishing pole and pulling the stupid thing out of the water, but it was time to do what she does best: Mindlessly throwing herself in to the enemy and slicing them down with nothing but a few simple slices.

The blood red katana, fueled by the light of the sword art, waved an eerie aura of blackened fire. It was clear this weapon was new from her last, albeit the same physical make up as her last one, but the power radiating off of it was something else. With a burst of speed, Shay was upon the monster. Slashes from every single direction were difficult to track for anyone who wasn't keeping their full attention on her. The stun made these burst of speed much more capable since it was laying motionless.

Once her attack was done, the aura of black fire dispersed from her weapon. She turned to ChaseR and gave him a quick smile and a nod.

  15. Shay was looking slightly annoyed, until Chase moved over to her and was nearly leaning on her. The feeling of her shoulder against his was enough to get her to lean against him and relax a little bit. She took a deep breath and calmed down enough to not get angry at something so simple.

"Right, I'm glad I'm here with you and not alone, doing it by myself. I would have lost my mind if I hadn't met you." Shay said quietly, watching the bobber bounce around the ripples in the water. Slowly, the ripples were turning into waves and soon, Shay's bobber sank into the water. She quickly ripped up the pole upward to lock the hook in it's jaw. Grace cried in surprise and jumped into Chase's lap.

With a hard tug, the fish came up to shore. "Just when we were having a good fucking moment!"

  16. Shay would nod to ChaseR and turn to the other two woman and give them both a slight bow before speaking. "It was wonderful having company while we searched for stars. Thank you for joining us." Shay said quietly as she ushered Chase along, heading back to the fair grounds of the festival.

"They were an odd pair hunh?" She asked him, looking to see how many golden stars she had collected for them. Then she remembered that they were supposed to be finding an article of clothing for the kids. "We didn't see any of the clothing that we were out here to get for that boy did we? Oh well. It's probably completely lost by now."

The night was pretty nice for what it was. A break from everything around her was well deserved. Chase needed it too, so hopefully he was feeling a lot better about himself now.

  17. Shay sighed as she fixed the line of the fishing rod that had snapped, while Chase dealt with having lost a free material to the slip of a finger. These type of luck mechanic quests were insanely annoying because the developers knew that they would do them. They just wanted cheap ways to annoy them and take up more of their time of something stupid like that.

With her line finally fixed, the rogue would cast the line back into the water, sure that she would only get the same result as her last attempt. Though, to her surprise, the line didn't snap at all. It just sat quietly in the water.

Grace Eon found herself nestling in the girl's cross-legged lap. She rested a hand on the feline creature and sighed quietly, waiting for anything to happen. The water was too quiet and she was sure that there was nothing actually in there. But somehow, a boss-fish was? Bullshit.

    image.png

  18. The rogue shrugged as she walked on to the dock. She didn't care much about the paladin, but she gave good information at the least. Since she had done nearly all the quests in the game, she knew how all of them went down and could gauge their difficulty.

More fishing was involved. That was pretty annoying. She knew sooner or later they would pull the thing out of the water, but sitting around trying to get it to spawn was kind of annoying. "We have to fish it up, unfortunately." She summoned two fishing poles to her hands and offered one to Chase. "Here, we can both do it at the same to time to increase our chances of finding it." With that, she fished the line into the water, and nearly instantly the line snapped in half. The rogue looked annoyed at the flowing line and groaned. "I hate fishing."

  19. Shay came off the teleporter behind her boyfriend, sighing as she saw the watery floor. She just knew that she was going to be ankle deep in water at some point. The thought of wet socks was unpleasant. Grace Eon didn't seem to like the temperature of the floor either. It was a warm humid here.

"Beats me. I haven't been higher than floor ten. Whatever is passed there, besides floor twenty-two, I have never seen before." She said nonchalantly with her arms folded across her chest. The crimson pupils examined everything around them. "Pink ensured me that her and her duo partner could easily massacre this boss when they were at our levels. I have no doubt that both of us can easily do it if she can." Shay explained, taking the lead towards the quest marker. She knew Chase was probably getting worn out by now, so she would try to make it quick.

A blade of ebony shinogi and quicksilver hamon and ha, the edge is razor sharp which digs deep reducing a wounds ability to clot. A beautiful blood carbonate alloy comprises the sheath, creating a exquisite albeit grim looking blade. On the butt of the handle is a small brand appearing as a celtic knot, of Tristram Steel.

The Rogue wandered into the smith's building, taking a look at the style he had truly put into it. Seemed very in the setting, but she wasn't here to admire his building, she was here to admire the swords. Now that she was Tier 2, she would need to upgrade her equipment to suit the new power level that she could reach.

Upon entering, she placed her own sword on the counter. "I'm here to pick up the sword that I ordered. Looks exactly like this one, but it's in the second tier." She said, waiting quietly for the man to bring her the new one. When he did, she laid the money on the counter and walked out with her new weapon.

  21. She wouldn't outwardly show it but this was actually relaxing enough for her, even though they were still questing. It was pretty weird that she could relax while also accomplishing quests.

Sitting up from the sand, Shay looked on her fellow party members. They were easily collecting more stars than she was, but she didn't really care that much. The requirement only suggests collecting as many as you can so she would get the same amount of experience no matter how many she collected. But she didn't want to end up getting hardly anything compared to them and make them feel like she had done absolutely nothing.

She stood up, patting the sand off her rear end and looked around for any more stars, only finding a few scattered around the sand. She really wasn't good at this at all. It feels like she was just really bad at these searching things.

  22. "I don't know either, so don't ask me." Shay says quietly. "Romance stuff is weird."

Shay walked behind Chase and caught up with him shortly, making sure that the two familiars were following behind them. Grace Eon mewled to her master, showing that she was helping Blizz keep up with the group. She offered the both of them a smile turning back to the blue-headed boy.

"Well... we finished one out of six. Yeah, there's six of these quests and we'll be able to have some extra benefits once we finish all of them. I'll be able to have a little extra damage and you can get the same thing, or maybe more mitigation. The stronger we are the more likely we'll be able to survive. Harshing this world is the only way we can truly protect ourselves from the danger. It's much better than being really weak and fearing leaving the safe zone, even if we are risking ourselves."

  23. Continuing to search through the lakeside wouldn't really prove much more useful. Either it was because she was just bad at looking for these stars, or they were still somewhat harder to find than she thought, she wasn't really sure. Naturally one would have trouble when mostly random numbers were involved, but her luck must really just be that bad. Shay sighed and took a seat in the sand, jumping the moment she did. She had sat on a singular star without looking. Well, a star is a star. She moved it into her inventory without even looking.

Beyond the sounds of the festival and the voices of her party members, everything was quiet and serene. It reminded her of her days living with her parents. If they were still alive to this day, she wondered what they would think of her right now, and where her life was going.

  24. The shy interaction was awkward enough. Shay heard the boy tell her thank you, even though she really hadn't done anything worth of thanking. She was only doing what she needed to as a good girlfriend... right?

The quiet silence fell between the both of them again. Shay's head was turned, trying to get random thoughts off her mind to think about everything that has been happening in the past few days. Chase and her were now a thing and just a few weeks ago she was intent on braving this harsh digital world by herself. Now she felt totally reliant on him. Being in a relationship was weird, she felt like she would never get the hang of it.

There wasn't much for her to say at this point. Even if Chase was her boyfriend now, that didn't change the fact that she was still awful with her words.

  25. Shay looked over to the teleporter for a moment, thinking about their options as is. They could either go home and rest or they could continue on. Chase seemed ready to take on a few more before they ended it for the day. If that was the case, then they were both ready for the next quest. "I'm definitely ready to take on the next quest as long as you are. If things get too overwhelming for you, just tell me and we'll end our questing for the day. We are going to the 16th floor next, just to warn you. It's not as bad as this one, but going higher can be dangerous. We'll be fine though, so don't worry." It was hard to be reassuring when she knew he would worry about getting up to higher floors. "I'm ready whenever you are Chase. Trust the me that trusts in you."
