>>Background<<

Richard was just an ordinary kid, born in a wealthy military family located in Winchester, United Kingdom. At a young age, Richard has always been fascinated in heroism and righteousness. Times after times, he would blindly throw himself in to stop arguments from escalating, and put an end to playground bullying, disregarding of his own wellness. To him, saving people is more important than saving himself. Always live by the mentality of chivalry, righteous and justice. Although his age grew, his mentality, and his dream remains unchanged. No matter the cause, he will try his best to protect those in need. School works was never a big problems to Richard, as he was inspires to thrive for success to help for a better tomorrow.

Eventually, Richard's family is relocated to Kanagawa, Japan. The sudden changes in living lifestyle was a bit jarring, but overtime, Richard got accustomed and learned more about Japan's culture, traditions and values, all the while growing his own. In high school, Richard expressed his interest in joining the disciplinary committee and was a very active member, despite landing a few disdain looks from the kids, branded as "that loud foreign kid".

On his eighteen birthday, while celebrating a small party with his friends in the city, Richard heard of a faint explosion that echoed throughout the place. Driven by his curiosity, Richard followed the sound of the explosion to the center of Kanagawa. An apartment was bursting in flames as smokes pillars could be seen from far away. Richard was drawn to a windows on the fourth floor by the concern chatter of people gathering nearby. A small girl was crying for help, almost engulfed by a pillar of smoke. Without hesitant, he ran into the building past the police line, too quick for the policemen to stop him. Climbed up to the fourth floor, Richard searched from room to room, trying to find the girl; all the while blazing fire engulfed the entire floor. Armed with a fire extinguisher by the fire exit, he made his way through the inferno hallway and get to the room where the girl was. He used his body to shield for the little girl as the two made their way out. That is until the floor above collapsed upon both of them. Because of the little girl being protected by Richard, she got to the fire exit in one piece. Richard wasn't so lucky. One of the construction rebar snapped as the floor was collapsing and fell right onto Richard's face, leaving an ugly cut from his forehead to his cheekbone, right through his right eye. Escaped from the raging fire with their lives, Richard was rushed to hospital for the wound treatment. Although the doctor was able to fix Richard's eye from being completely blind, the scar remains.

Beside being featured in the news for his bravery, Richard's life went on normally. He graduate high school with flying colors, and soon, he was accepted into Tokyo's Police academy. It has been his dream to join the police force where he can continue protecting everyone.

Life in Tokyo was very different from Kanagawa. Everything was so lively here compares to the normal days back home. He had never seen so many people in the street at once almost every day in his life. Beside attending schools regularly, whenever he has time to spare, Richard spends his time traveling and exploring and soon, delve even deeper into the gaming scene, especially the newest technology of full dive VR and the upcoming game. With all the hype behind it, Richard considered himself lucky that he was able to pre-order the newest VRMMORPG Sword Art Online. On the day that the server kicks off, he play test the game, hoping that it lived up to his expectation. However, little did he know, Richard's fate was sealed on the two simple words:

"Link, Start!"

>>Virtues<<

Courage: Richard's dream was to be a hero, and what's a hero if they are a nothing more than a coward. Through his past experiences, he refuse to step down, and sometime would blindly throw himself into danger, even when the incentives are low, and the risk are unimaginable. He doesn't hesitate to dive face first to danger, as long as he could be there to help those in need. To be a true hero, Richard believe you must possess the courageous heart of a lion, and an unyielding spirit.

Polite & Discipline: Raised from a military family, manners goes before knowledge. A person who obtain all the knowledge in this vast would be naught but a fool if they don't know how to act. From a small age, Richard's parents has always been strict about the small details in how to speak, greet, or exchanging a small conversation. The fruit of their work certainly paid off.

Vigilance: Now that Richard step foot in this death game, he must be vigilance, more than ever. Panic would only make his mind deteriorate, in turn, would cause him to make careless mistake that could've been avoided. A shrouded mind leads to a clouded path. Think rational, act smart, be courageous, and stay vigilance.

>>Flaws<<

Easily deceived: When putting his trust on someone, Richard could be easily deceived by the person he helped, especially if they are a good liar. Although he's fully aware of this, his mentality of living, and his principles doesn't allow him to ignore when another person is in peril. While putting his faith in others, he might find himself in a perilous situation himself, an expensive price to pay to be a hero.

Reckless: Compliment with his Courageous virtue, Richard can grow to be rather careless at time. Either by throwing himself head first into danger, or underestimating his enemy, Richard has found himself biting off more than he could chew. Now, with him imprisoned in a virtual world, with the risk of dying in real life if he dies in game, his flaw might proven to be lethal, should he disregard the elements around him that could turn the table from bad to worse.

Poor eye sight: Due to an incident in his past that gave him the scar over his right eye, Richard never really make a full recovery after what happened. His peripheral vision was slightly damaged even after the surgery, therefore limited his vision partially to the right side.

A Terrible Secret: Being a nice and humble person as he is, Richard hold a terrible secret that he was never proud off. However, he fear that one day, he might review it to those people he tries to protect. After then, their trust on him might waver, and how they see him might changed and damaged.
