The monsters on the sixth floor were well beneath him in level, if their light pink cursors were of any indication. He wouldn't be getting much experience from them, if any experience at all, yet they weren't his purpose in the dungeon. They were merely obstacles impeding his progress, obstacles he would have no problem overcoming. The leading member of the pack struck out at him first with a scythe-like appendage. Takao caught the strike with the flat of his sword and grappled the monster with his offhand, promptly throwing it into the next monster in line. The two of them tumbled to the ground whilst Takao engaged the remaining two, ending the third with a powerful blow straight through the thorax and the fourth by simply cleaving it in twain. Takao 0 Posted March 31, 2016 Author #22 Report Share Posted March 31, 2016 (edited) With his «Reveal» skill lighting the way, metaphorically anyway, Takao began the grueling task of wading through the labyrinth-like dungeon in search for the room at the end. Dead ends were disregarded for a linear path forward, straight for his prospective quarry. However, before he would be able to reach it, he'd have to fight. Four monsters leapt from their places of hiding, although Takao had seen them almost immediately. Instead of engaging the four with the sword art he'd used on the last group, he opted to wipe them out in a much more simple manner. He could see a total of eight monsters remaining, four of which were scuttling closer to engage him while the remnants of the dungeon's forces lingered at the door. He huffed out a breath and shook his head, knowing fully well the strength of the monsters that approached him and exactly how much effort they'd take to remove. Takao lifted his sword and held it flat-side up, activating a sword skill. Its strength wasn't much lower in potency, and it would still sufficient in taking out the remaining four mantis monsters. At first sight of him they charged, and were subsequently put down with a series of three consecutive cuts. Takao 0 Posted April 3, 2016 Author #25 Report Share Posted April 3, 2016 (edited) A long, exhausted exhale deflated Takao's lungs as his bottom fell against the cold cave floor, and his back reclined against the coarse stone wall that separated him from the dungeon boss. It was exhausting work, but it had to be done. He needed to prepare for the worst and to be ready for the unexpected. If that meant he needed to exhaust himself day and night to progress, as he had been doing lately, then he would do so willingly and without complaint... or maybe just a little complaining. With the only light inside the cave coming from some suspiciously lit torches and the remnants of whatever light bled through the opening, it was a rather scenic place to rest. His glove-clad hand loosely grasped the handle of his sword, hefting it from the ground to rest the flat across his left shoulder. He turned and faced the boss door, head rolling from one shoulder to the other, virtual bones popping and crackling. Takao commented as he passed through the door and laid eyes on the monster that lurked within. It was a large praying mantis, much larger than the ones he'd been fighting on the floor thus far, as he'd been expecting it to be. Without giving the monster the opportunity to strike first, Takao prepared his charge skill and closed the gap between himself and the monster in an instant. Utilizing the practiced movements of the strongest sword art in his arsenal, Takao evaded the strikes of the monster whilst dealing his own. Unwilling to present the boss monster with any opportunities at all, Takao continued his assault. Selecting a less powerful and less draining sword art to drop off the rest of the beast's health, Takao littered its mantis-esque body with a total of seven rapid thrusts.
