[PP-F5] Desert Dungeons (Allania) Pt.2

Recommended Posts

"Huh what's that?" Hydra peered over the edge of the pit and sighted Allania at the bottom. He was unsure of how to react but soon enough the sand gave way to his own weight and he soon found himself tumbling down into the same hole the dagger user was stuck in. After landing with a thud he stood him and scratched his head. "Do you still want to lead?" He laughed jokingly before peering down the tunnel that lay ahead to see if anything stood out. At first glance this was no ordinary system, rotted pieces of wood lines the walls in rusted torch holders and hieroglyphics could be seen inscribed into the stone. Nothing immediately stood out as something the artisan could use in his store however.

"Well... it seems like I have not done the best job at this. Why don't you take the lead for a while?" she asked, admitting that so far she had not done the best job. Allania noted the carvings within the stone. Hieroglyphs. Could this be related to the dungeon I was in before? Allania thought, recalling the fight she had had with a mummified Pharaoh. It had been a pitiful fight, one that dragged out for a near eternity. Hopefully there would be something of worth in this tunnel but they would not know until they headed on in. "After you" she said to Hydra, while looking into the darkness.

"I don't think I will be able to lead us any better..." He shrugged at Allania and took a step forward. The plate he was stood on seemed to sink into ground. "Ummm?" He turned around with a guilty smile on his face and scratched his cheek. At that point the tunnel seemed to start filling with sand. In a panic the spearman darted off down the tunnel screaming. Twilight followed close behind. By the time he reached the end two large statues guarded the path. They didn't seem to move so Hydra just looked at them unsure how to proceed. Eventually he poked one with his spear and it just crumbled to sand. Glancing around he wondered where Allania had gotten too.

Allania sighed, the first thing Hydra did as leader was cause the tunnel to collapse. It seemed that neither of them were quite fit to lead this little party of theirs. As the sand began to collapse the tunnel Allania picked up Blaze and sprinted after Hydra's fleeing figure. However with the lead Hydra had on her the sand began to fall in front of her, obscuring her view of where he went. So when she finally made it to somewhere that was not collapsing she could not find him. Not high nor low could he be seen. She was in a tunnel, one that was rather bland, none of the fancy hieroglyphs etched into the stone, just bare stoneworks. Separated once again. Allania called out into the nothingness "HYDRA ARE YOU THERE?!" she shouted.

"Well..." Hydra stared blankly at his surroundings unsure of what to do next. The small sound of Allania's voice echoed through the tunnel, he had no idea what she was saying. Ahead of him two paths separated. "Do I take the left or right?" He asked himself in amusement. Without second thoughts he immediately went through to the left tunnel, failing to recognize the other Anubis sand figure animating behind him. He casually whistled as the statue lumbered behind him raising it's spear at the Brunette. Hydra noticed a gold coin on the floor and bent down, hearing the sound of a weapon fly over his head he glanced over his shoulder. "Oh great... I wonder if Allania is having this much trouble..." He sighed sarcastically and unsheathed his spear.

Allania stood there in silence, waiting for a response, but none came. After waiting for a while Allania headed down the tunnel, there was only one way to go afterall. It was surprisingly not dark in her tunnel, sconces lined the wall, torches lighting up in front of her as she walked. It was very weird and somewhat creepy, but not dark. What probably worried Allania the most was the silence, she could not hear a sound, not her footsteps, nor Balze's hooves, or the shifting sand above her head. It was disconcerting. As she continued to wander in the eerie silence the tunnel opened up in front of her into a reasonably sized room. The walls were lined with pottery, vases and bowls. And in each corner stood a statue of Anubis. This was definitely an Egyptian tomb.

Hydra always let the enemy move first in battle, it helped him read it slightly. Unfortunately this one was a lot faster than he thought. Raising it's own spear it smacked it hard into the ground causing a shock wave. Area's of the roof gave in and sand fell down. Hydra flew backwards smashing into a nearby inanimate statue. Grunting in pain he stumbled back up. Looking at the Anubis statue he raised his spear. Deciding the best tactic would be flurry of blows he activated his most damaging sword art and charged the statue aiming at it's lower body the creature exploded into a mix of sand and crystals as it crumbled beneath it's own weight.

Allania paused in this room and began to rummage about, searching for materials. Allania went from pot to pot, from vase to vase looking inside each one. It was not a long search before she found something. It was not large, just a few scraps of clothe within one of the vase. It was small but the system counted it as a material. Pocketing the material Allania continued to search, oblivious to the scraping of stone around her as the statues began to move.

Hydra turned and continued down the path he was on. The tunnel seemed to narrow, the floor turned from a mix of sand and dirt to refined polished stone. "Huh..." The spearman was suddenly cut off by a large door, "Now what..." He looked at it then ran into it. Moving it by force didn't seem to work. "Maybe I can find a contraption..." The brunette turned around only to notice the remains of the statue he had fought before reforming. He was down on half his energy and cornered. Gritting his teeth he readied himself to be attacked by these two lesser forms of creatures.

Allania heard it then, a sraping sound, like stone grinding against stone. She perked up her head, looking around to see what was going on. What she saw was the 4 Anubis statues moving. "Not again" she sighed, taking out her dagger, ready to attack. She launched herself at the closest one, disregarding the others. Her blade swung out in a large arc, trying to cut at the statue, but it moved a step backwards, just out of her reach. With her failed attempt to attack over the statues took it upon themselves to attack. They did not land a blow though, as a result of Allania's dodging and deflecting, keeping their weapons at a safe distance.

Thinking these would be as sluggish as the original, Hydra attempted the same tactic of destroying one in a single hit. He was mistaken, whilst these forms were not fast they could maneuver better, his spear flew into the wall cracking the stone. The statues attempted to smother the spearman in sand but likewise he was still moving. He jumped backwards a little to avoid the attack. His back hitting a torch stone seemed to trigger a mechanic, because the large stone door suddenly swung open. The battle continued...

Allania tied once again, aiming for the statue she had attacked but moments ago and once missed, the Anubis deflecting her dagger of its weapon. This time, with her failed attempt finishing she was not able to react fast enough. As a result Allania got thrown across the room, her body like a ragdoll as it was sent flying by the train-like blow of the Anubis. It was not made of stone for nothing. Allania got to her feet and brushed the dust off of her body, raising her dagger and preparing to go once again.

The stone door collapsing provided Hydra with an opportunity to strike. He spun around rapidly striking each statue lightly 4 times, sand and crystals going everywhere. The MOBs were statues so didn't reel back in pain and dealt a few blows to the spearman themselves, however his armor activated surrounding him in a green light and soon all the harm had been repaired. Hydra ironically had his armor made to resemble the mythological creature itself, when one head was chopped off it would regrow two more. Although it wasn't quite as powerful as that.

Allania dashed forward, her dagger spinning out around her as she performed the pirouetting dance, slicing into each of the statues, a grinding sound as her dagger scraped through their stone body. Her dagger seemed slower than usual as it cut through the stone, the resistance slowing her pace such that they were able to land a blow upon her slight form, once again sending her reeling. This time the strike was not hard enough to penetrate her thorns, so the tiny barbs on her armour scraped across the stone, much like her dagger had done.

After swiping across with his spear Hydra darted in, thrusting his spear towards the opponents. The spear sailed through there bodies, with seemingly no effect. "I guess you can't pierce sand..." He mumbled. The creatures bought down there own weapons, Hydra recoiled backwards, barely managing to avoid the hit. Inspecting the creatures closely, he realized like the original there seemed to be some sort of ruby gem towards the forehead of the creature. "Maybe if I destroy that both will die." The brunette was incredibly low on energy by this point. He would spend his next turn dodging rather than attacking.

The previous blow had sent her skidding across the floor once again. They hit with a lot of force, but not a lot of damage. For that she was grateful. Gritting her teeth Allania charged them once again, her dagger spinning around her body as she attempted to slice into them, they weren't there however. They had charged for her just as she did for them, but they had tripped and went tumbling. When Allania finished her spin she just looked at the statues scattered about on the floor How does a statue trip over?? she thought.

Hydra stood back this time, he saw various opportunities he could have lashed out but decided it would be best to stay back. The creatures themselves almost landed a hit on him several times. It was thanks to his charm that he was able to avoid the blows. One of the statues hands had flown into the temple wall, causing the smooth stone work to crack and fall into several different pieces. Once Hydra felt like he had enough energy he prepared himself to strike out at the sand statues again. If he could destroy the crystal on one it would likely destroy the other.

With them on the floor Allania rushed them, hoping to finish the fight before they could regain their footing. That did not quite go to plan however, the Statues quickly spinning up to their feet, their weapons easily deflecting her dagger. She was well within their range now, she had to be if she ever wanted her dagger to land a blow on these relatively gargantuan statues, towering over her. With a little flick of their wrist, the Statue's weapons went whipping round, slamming into Allania and causing her health to lower slightly.

Hydra swung his harm backwards and putting his whole weight forward slammed the end of his spear into the closer statues head. The two thrusts shattered the gem in an instant, as the purple light dimmed the other statue seemed to cease in animation and crumble to a pile of sand beneath his feet. Up ahead the echoing of more fighting could be heard developing, "Must be Allania..." Hydra mumbled, as he continued onward past the stone door and into the tunnel, following the sounds like a bee to a flower.

Once Allania had recovered from the statues strike she launched herself back at them, quickly getting within range and spinning around her dagger cutting into the hard stone of the statues. She dealt a fraction of damage to them, not enough to kill them but they certainly looked worst for ware, many a pixelated red gash lining their arms and body. The injuries seemed to be taking a toll on them, their speed slowing and the precision of their blows waning, to such an extent that they ended up swinging wide and missing her completely.
