[PP-F2] «Breaking the Unbreakable» Caught Between A Rock And A Hard Place [Completed]

Recommended Posts

It's been a couple of hours now. The wanderer isn't wandering around like he normally does. He's been steadily making his way to really high mountain in the corner of the 2nd floor. He had heard of rumors that there's a quest up there which gives you the Martial Arts Skill. With the wanderer, is @Takao, an acquaintance of the wanderer who supposedly has done this quest already. He had asked him for help since the supposed task he has to do is break a rock with just your hands - which, frankly, this wanderer is not good at all.

The wanderer slowly made his way up a steep hill with some resemblance of what could be a road. Sweat poured down his face as he trudged along this path. The sun was glaring down at the two travelers. He was almost there. According to supposed rumors there should be a small hut near the summit of this hill. Just a little more until the peak. Just a couple more steps... After a few more steps of grueling agony, the wanderer managed to crawl the last few feet until the ground went flat. We were at finally the near the summit.

OOC// Sorry for taking so long to reply, I overlooked the notification.

The sheer scale of the Castle Aincrad was difficult to fathom from the outside. But those who were trapped within and forced to progress one step at a time, they were the ones who could truly appreciate their massive digital prison for what it was. The first floor was undoubtedly the largest, yet so many other floors took so much more time to traverse. The second floor itself was a perfect example, although Takao seemed to have a habit of making things seem easy. As his traveling companion crawled his way to the top of the stairs, Takao had simply walked at a slow pace alongside him. He hadn't any problems with scaling the mountain in which he had scaled half a dozen times already, and it was a feat he attributed to his level. Level dictated energy, after all, and he had plenty to spare.

Takao's jade eyes examined the familiar scenery before him as they reached the peak, and then fell earthward to Rain. "Are you uh... y'alright there?" He asked, one eyebrow raised in both curiousity and concern. He knew fully well that he'd be doing the brunt of the work when it came to destroying the boulder, but it didn't stop him from expressing a bit of worry for his companion's well-being.

OOC: It's fine. I'm normally in no rush unless it's the Earning a Living quest. :p

The wanderer falls flat on his back once he reached the top. Takao made this look too way easy, but it wasn't. "I'm fine.. just gonna take a quick rest." said the wanderer as he gasped for air. He stared up to the sky with sweat rushing down his face. He's already that exhausted just from walking here, how much more for actually doing the rumored task? A breeze swept in the area. It was nice and refreshing. After a few seconds, the wanderer cooled down from the breeze. He quickly jumps up to his feet and starts walking around. "The hut's suppose to be here somewhere.. Do you happen to know where it is?" said the wanderer as he scoured the area looking for a hut. This hut is where the NPC that gives out the quest for giving the martial arts skill is supposedly staying at.

Takao stretched his arms skyward and rolled his head across his shoulders, only stopping when a satisfying "pop" resonated from within his neck. "Alright, take your time." He said in response to Rain as his gaze shifted downward. His hand swiped through the air and called forth the game's menu, gentle chimes playing with each press of the floating buttons. The sword on his back disappeared in a flash of blue lights, and was immediately replaced with leather braces on either of his arms. An odd way to boost his unarmed damage, surely, but effective all the same. As the inquiry of the hut's location arose, Takao pointed forward. Barely visible and hidden behind a rocky outcropping was the very corner of the hut itself, with a small stream of smoke raising from a fire within. "S'right there. You'll have to go in alone and grab the quest, then we'll head over to the rock 'n get to work."

The wanderer faced the direction Takao pointed at. He couldn't exactly see the hut, but Takao sounded really sure of himself. He wanted to trust him. After giving out a quick "okay," the wanderer made his was to the direction. As he went farther in, he noticed a stream of smoke in the sky get bigger and bigger. He must be getting close. A few more feet he noticed a a small hut. "That must be the place," he thought.

Once he got close enough, an fairly old man walks out and glanced at the wanderer. "Ho! You there! Can you help me with something? I need a boulder that's blocking the path down this road destroy. I'll give you something if you clear it for me, and some extra if you can break it with your hands." The old man laughed. A window pops up in front of the wanderer. He raises his hand and accepts.

With that done, the wanderer started walking back to Takao, who was waiting for him near the mountain side they climbed from.

"So I gotta destroy some boulder blocking some path. It's done the road."

Whilst Rain mingled with the quest NPC within the hut, Takao opted to simply bide his time and enjoy the view. The mountain was high above the floor itself, and on clear days it provided a magnificent view from one corner of the floor to the opposite. Days like this presented their own beauty, however. The clouds beneath them cast large shadows upon the floor, and the sun created visible rays of light that pierced the clouds. Very scenic indeed. Takao's gaze drifted away from the scenery as Rain emerged from the hut, and he turned to meet him. "That's the gist of it, yeah." Takao nodded in agreement, then spun on his heel once again, this time facing the direction he knew the boulder to be in. "Shouldn't take very long to beat it down. If you want, we can head out to look for a sub-dungeon when we're done? I know where are a few of 'em are 'spose to be." He said, momentarily delving into his inventory to procure a bottle of vodka, which he easily took a swig from.

OOC: sorry... just saw the notif.

"Sure, that'd be cool. I've never gone dungeon delving before so that'd be a first for me." the wanderer's face lit up. He really hasn't been in a dungeon before so this would his first. Now he's just excited for the dungeon. So much so that he lost track of the task ahead of him until a large stood right before him. Its shadow overshadowed the wander's own shadow. Twas huge. "Okay... so this is it huh?" he thought. The wanderer swings his fingers around in front of him and Bakuzan disappears.

The wanderer then rushes right at the rock, hoping to do a decent amount of damage on it.

"I've usually got pretty decent luck with findin' 'em, so maybe we'll be able to come across a good one." Takao said as he laid his gaze upon the boulder. Its formidable presence was familiar to him, a sight he had seen at least half a dozen times before. He'd begun to worry if he was becoming too familiar with the rock, and perhaps it was so, but he was still managing to help somebody out in the process. The thought that the boulder shook a little bit every time Takao showed up entertained him as well, even though the inanimate object didn't possess the sentience to do so. "Yup, this is it." Takao replied simply, adjusting the wraps on his hands as Rain took the first swing.

Takao followed suit and tensed his legs, activating the charge skill for a quick augmentation to his damage. Without the proper multipliers that came with a sword art, the damage was ultimately rather negligible on a great scale, but to the rock it was devastating. The entirety of the boulder rumbled and shook under the force of his strike the moment his fist made contact with its coarse surface, resulting in a large crack forming down its surface.

OOC: Sorry, late reply. Was busy yesterday, and I didn't see the notif on sunday.

The wanderer watched as a crack started running through the rock. Takao's strike seems to have dented the boulder heavily and left a crack that was slowly running through the boulder. Wanting to also put a heavy dent on the rock, the wanderer threw all of his weight into his fist. His punch lightly tapped the rock. The rock made no intention of growing larger and it's large shape made now movement. The wanderer's fist throbbed from the punch, yet the rock barely felt it. This is gonna be a long day...

Takao retracted his right hand as his clenched fist made contact with the boulder and brought the shoulder back, allowing him to swing his left hand forward and slam it right back into the surface. There had once been a time when he would've had reservations about punching a solid surface with all of his strength, but those days had long since faded. His mind and imagination no longer filled the void of pain that the game left, with such a sensation having been replaced with a slight tingle instead. It wasn't pleasant, but it was far from unbearable. The boulder shuddered under the pressure of his blow again, another large crack forming in its coarse surface.

Another crack, streaked in front of the wanderer. As he turns his head, it seems, Takao now drilled another fracture in the boulder. Wanting to contribute some more, the wanderer tightened his fist. He then dug his fist into the boulder hoping to do something. A slight crack branched off from where the wanderer's fist had landed, but that's all it was, a slight crack. The wanderer's fist still barely scratched this boulder.

Two large cracks and several smaller abrasions scarred the surface of the boulder, and alluded to its weakened state. Takao's left arm retreated and he took a few steps back, preparing to end the boulder with one final strike. He shifted his weight onto his left foot, angled his body appropriately, then glanced over his shoulder and swung his right leg into the boulder, executing a near flawless hook kick. The boulder's largest crack was struck and split the rock in two. The graphic seemed to glitch or shudder before erupting into the familiar colourful polygons that signified something's health points reaching zero.

"Alright, that's done." Takao said, lowering his foot back to the ground. "Still up for that sub-dungeon, or nah?"

The wanderer watched as the Takao threw one final punch right before the boulder broke into a multitude of pixels. Soon after, the old man walks up behind the wanderer "Thanks for clearing that up! Here's a little something." A window pops up in front of the wanderer. "<<Martial Arts>> Unlocked" The wanderer falls to the ground on his rear and closes the window.

Afterwards, Takao glanced at the wanderer and ask him if he was up for going in a sub-dungeon.. He was on the ground taking a quick breather. The wanderer glanced back at the Takao and got up on his feet. "Yeah, sure. I've never been in a dungeon before though, so It'll all be new to me." The wanderer takes a couple of steps forward at a random direction, before he stops in his tracks. "Uh.. Where do we go exactly for the dungeon?"

"The fifth floor," Takao responded simply, opting to delve into his menus during the few short moments it took his momentary quest companion to get up to his feet. The wraps from his hands disappeared and were replaced with his sword and its scabbard, nestled snugly against his back. "I've got a few tips that there's meant to be one right outside Armadillo. It's supposed to be a pretty big one though, so we'll take it slow. It's pretty straightforward." Takao said, gesturing for Rain to follow him with a wave of his hand.

True to his word, Takao would lead Rain to the fifth floor settlement of Armadillo, and out into the desert wilderness. Not long after delving back out into the wilds did Takao activate his Reveal and Detect skills, turning his eyes from their usual green hues to a bright silver and giving them a uniquely mechanical appearance. "Ah, good. We're lucky, found it before anybody else." Takao said as he pointed out the partially submerged dungeon entrance, the only indication of its presence being portions of broken pillar exposed to the desert. "Y'ready?"

"Yeah, uh.. give me a sec." After a couple of swings of his fingers, Bakuzan in its sheath appears in the wanderer's hands. Two potions appear in the wanderer's hand while a bunch is stored in the wanderer's pockets.

-Bakuzan Equipped-
-Greater Damage Potion I used- [+2 DMG]
-Greater Mitigation Potion I used- [+18 MIT]

-Battle Ready-
5 Panacea
5 Greater Health Potion I
3 Minor Health Potion I
1 Teleport Crystal

"Okay, I'm ready." The wanderer wasn't planning on using potions on this quest, but it looks like he's going to need every help he can get. This place is an advanced dungeon after all. "Lead the way..."

Takao nodded to Rain as he finished his preparations, then turned to face forward again. With the blade hefted out of its scabbard and the duo of ocular skills activated, the brunet took the first few steps into the dungeon. He slid down the sand that lead to the dark entrance hall, and found that the torches lining the hallway leading further inside began to light one by one, illuminating their path forward. Dungeons were difficult to find in most capacities, yet they all seemed to be the same in some ruined form or another. The fifth floor's dungeons were all appropriately themed, with muted colours and interesting artwork lining the sandstone walls.

"Like I said a minute ago, the process is simple. We'll fight our way through a certain amount of monsters, and it'll generate the boss room somewhere'n front of us. Since this is a higher end dungeon, we'll have to kill about fifteen or so." Takao said, imparting a bit of his limited knowledge of dungeons onto Rain. As he did so, a few supposedly inanimate suits of armour that rested in front of them were spurred into motion. The metal rattled and scraped against itself as the four empty armour sets came to life, hefting various weaponry that didn't quite fit the theme or time period. "European platemail and weapons in Egyptian themed ruins. Somebody should'a paid more attention in history class." Takao quipped as he rolled his wrist and spun the sword in his grasp, slamming the tip into the ground. A wave of electricity rang out and consumed the metal armour, tearing through their health gauges and reducing them to zero in a single swift motion.

The wanderer followed Takao, as he delved deep into the darkness. Once he got to the hall, its torch mount walls lit up one by one, going deeper into the dungeon. As they took a few steps into the dungeon, four large armors flung into motion and attacked. Takao jumped into action. As Takao fought, the wanderer sensed another enemy behind him. As he turned around, a large float claymore floated down from above. It was rusted all over, as if it's been been here for a long time. The wanderer pointed his katana at the floating sword. He rushed the greatsword and swung his blade in two blinding slashes. Unfortunately, the sword didn't seem fazed at all. It swung its large blade at the wanderer. The wanderer, however, was able to stop the blade by using Bakuzan to block the swing. It sadly wasn't enough to stop the attack. The swing of the sword threw the wanderer against the wall, as if toying with the wanderer.

Takao glanced over his shoulder as Rain engaged the next monster to appear and was thrown into the wall. He straightened his back and pulled his sword from the ground, ready to turn around and take the monster out himself, but a quick glance to the HP gauge floating by his head was a clear indication that the floating weapon hadn't dealt much damage. It would be best not to intervene then, he thought, and instead opted to turn back forward as another quartet of empty armour spurred into action. He repeated his earlier success by simply slamming his sword into the ground, destroying the monsters through a bright display of electricity.

The wanderer stood back up after being throw to the wall. He barely felt a thing. Drinking that Mitigation Potion really helped. He stood facing the floating claymore once more. He tightly grips his katana until it glowed azure. Then he rushed the sword without any regards to his safety. That last attack told him everything he needed to know. It's blows do almost nothing to him. With that in mind, the wanderer swings his blade in two quick slices, ripping up more red cuts on the blade. Unfortunately, that wasn't enough to kill the animated blade.

As Rain's battle raged on behind him, Takao kept his focus forward. They hadn't made much progress down the hallway, yet the dungeon itself was very aware of their presence. As such, it wouldn't give them a moment to rest, and opted to throw another wave of their weakened forces their way. Takao was quick to act, and repeated the same process as before. He hefted his sword from the ground, assumed the necessary position to activate the sword art, and slammed it back into the ground. As a result, yet another wave of lightning washed over the suits of armour, reducing their health gauges to nearly nothing. "There's just a few left now, but I'll have to rest up before the boss."
