[PP-F2] MAT for armor <Itzal, Verus> <completed>

Recommended Posts

Itzal had recently placed his order for a sword, which he was very excited for.  In the meantime however, he realized that he'd need armor as well.  He knew exactly what he wanted, but he lacked the materials to order one.  He heard of a quest that gave armor, but it was uncommon and he'd rather get his hands on all out perfect gear.  So today he'd go out hunting for material he could trade for the armor.  Itzal grabbed his beginner sword and stared at it a moment.  He actually never told the group he ordered a sword.  He figured he'd surprise them when he drew it in combat.  He was eager to spar with them when the time came though.  Fighting monsters levels you up, but sparing other players sharpens the senses and the mind.  Itzal loved that trait.  He turned to the group.

"I'm heading out to gather a few materials guys.  See you later!"

"Yeah i'm gonna come help you with that." Verus smiled softly and followed along slowly, trying to adjust to his new armor. It felt weird but he assumed that all armor felt that way at first. The design itself was pretty standard, as if it was mass produced by a company. However, Verus didn't really care about the looks right now, only the enhancements it gave him. He now had a little bit of protection that would stop a good amount of damage, "Looking for materials eh?" He tried to begin some small talk as he walked just slightly behind Itzal, slowly catching up to his walking speed. "Hoping to start a new profession maybe?"

Itzal shook his head.

"Nah, not really.  I got rank I armor but I don't have any intent on increasing it any time soon.  Just a little extra protection you know?"  He thought for a moment as he observed Verus' armor.  It was standard so he assumed Verus didn't care much for looks.  Itzal however, knew that a lot of players out there connect appearance with personality.  Itzal may have discovered some new friends, but he still wasn't comfortable with people just walking in on him.  Which reminded him, he should apologize to Kooh about his abrupt arrival.  The armor he was thinking of ordering was supposed to look intimidating.  He wanted it to help his stealth, but there wasn't any enhancement for that, so he'd stick with evasiveness.

"If you want to join that would be great!  I was thinking of finding some ingredients for Adhae as well.  Maybe some for her shop, as well as some for a tasty dinner," he finished with a smile."

"Yeah armor is the bee's knees." He laughed at himself for that awful comment he just made. "But yeah, materials are good too. Adhae would love that." His hands kept trying to reposition the armor. He had to wear it out and stretch it to his liking, but that would come with time. The breastplates were strangely positioned at first but he managed to maneuver them into a respectable spot. He was contempt with his armor and knew that it would come into play at a later time. "So, where we heading?" Verus was besides Itzal now, realizing that he forgot something. A look of excitement shot across his face and he quickly opened up his menu. "Ooh ooh" He quickly unequipped his current rapier and then equipped a new one. "Meed Adzin." He unsheathed his new sword, showing off the purple and white flairs that masked the guard and hilt. It shone in the sun and gave off a soothing vibe. It felt heavier than his standard rapier, which was strange but not too problematic.

Itzal stared at the new blade, suddenly curious.  The sword reflected light very brightly, which Itzal himself didn't care for.  Itzal wondered what it felt like to hold a rapier and realized that although he'd played games with rapiers in them, he'd never actually held one.

"Adzin huh?" he asked.  "That means leader doesn't it?"  Itzal wasn't sure if that was the actual meaning of the name but he was fairly certain.  His eyes wouldn't wander from the blade but he decided to answer Verus' question.

"Not sure really.  We could gather material from monsters or wander around collecting what we can."  He gestured to the weapon.  "Could I hold it for a moment?  I won't break it or anything."  He wanted to get a feel for what the rapier looked like and it's weight, and now here was the perfect opportunity.  Besides, if he ever ended up sparing with Verus he would want to have handled the same style weapon at least once.

"It means one." He chuckled slightly at the simplicity of the name, maneuvering it through the air slowly. The feel was slightly different than his last sword. It had a much longer edge and the guard was much more extravagant. He did pay good money for it though so it would make sense that it was far better than the standard issue weapons. Admin was a beaut, and Verus knew it.

Verus handed over his new weapon, grinning while he did. He was proud of his purchase and couldn't wait to try it out. However, he didn't want to attract higher level mobs in as they might complicate some things with Itzal's material hunt. "I would suggest something like...hmm...non combat gathering. It's very boring and monotonous but gets the job done."

Itzal remembered the proper stance required for a rapier, and held it in different positions to judge it's weight.  Once he had done so he preformed a few jabs as well as movements one would use to parry.  Once he had a feel for it he preformed one or two of the more complex maneuvers before handing it back to Verus.

"Not bad," he said.  "Not bad at all."  Although he had never used a rapier before, he had seen how to craft them in a non immersive, virtual reality game once.  The design was pretty much spot on.  "Ok.  Anywhere good or should we just walk around?"

"Up to you man. I'm down to go wherever." He had watched as Itzal had tried to imitate some of the sword arts a rapier user were to use. It was slightly funny watching him fumble around with it, knowing that he'd have to have some skill points in it for him to even operate it much. It was a pretty sword though, no doubt. He nodded towards him after he handed it back, sheathing it. "I'll walk to the ends of the earth for some mat's as long as i have some good food and drink." He browsed through his inventory slightly, noticing his diminishing rations. He had maybe a couple days left before he would have to buy some more. He didn't worry too much about the situation though and continued on.

Itzal looked at Verus with a grin.

"I'm sure if we bring enough MAT's Adhae can cook us meals."  He looked around and noticed a forest in the distance.  "Let's try over there," he said and walked on ahead.  As they approached Itzal began listing things they might find in the woods.  Mushrooms, herbs, edible plants.  There was chances of encountering a mob or two but he hoped against it.  As they walked along the road Itzal noticed a small group of mushrooms and smiled as he walked over.  He checked to make sure no monster was nearby, scanning the forest carefully before leaning over to pick the mushroom.

"Well, that's one."

"Oh if we bring her ingredients i'm forcing her to cook us something." The forest they were heading for looked pretty normal; he wouldn't have to worry about insane darkness like the last forest he was in. He shuddered at the thought before recollecting himself, rolling his neck slightly. It was his way of relieving what little stress he ever had and it worked surprisingly well. Within seconds he felt normal again and was ready to do some material hunting.

"Yuck mushrooms. You can have all those." Verus tried to scour around where Itzal found his first pick, hoping for a similar ordeal. What he did find was a hole, and was curious to see what was inside of it. He figured that it may be a little mouse hole or where a squirrel or something buried some nuts. Verus reached his hand in and quickly pulled it back out after getting bit a few times by ants. "Well that was no fun..."

Itzal grinned at Verus' comment and moved on.  He kept an eye out for anything that might be useful and thought he saw a plant that might have been an herb.  He walked closer and looked closely.  It looked familiar but he couldn't put his finger on it.  He ran through plants he knew (which wasn't much), but couldn't identify it.  He knew it wasn't a good idea to mess with unknown items but he decided to take a chance.  He should have listened to the logical side of his brain.  It was poison ivy.  He recognized it right after he touched it and growled as he could feel the burning itch crawl on him.

"Dang it!" He cried.  He looked at Verus who ad several bites on his own hand.  Itzal shook his head.  "There's got to be a better way to go about this."

He reared back, somehow finding himself leaning himself against a tree. He shook his hand violently to make sure most of the ants were off. The venom they injected took a second to kick in and what caused him to jump back. The bites themselves just felt like little tiny pricks; no big deal really. His hand pulsated for a second before slightly returning to normal, and he leaned off of the tree, returning to his search of any form of edible objects.

Verus ventured off slightly, trying to search a small grove of trees he had found. He was on the hunt for nuts and berries, hoping to find a few bushes here and there. However he continued to come up short, only finding barren shrubbery's and fruitless trees. Luck was definitely not on his side.

Itzal could feel his hand shake from the itch but refused to even look at it.  Instead, he wandered around aimlessly when he thought he spotted something.  He walked over and noticed an apple tree.  There was a thin path that came from another section of the woods, so he assumed npcs came and picked it clean, but then he noticed an apple.  He grinned and grabbed the trunk, instantly regretting his decision.  He let go before the itch could get any worse and picked up a rock with his clean hand.  He aimed and threw the rock right above the apple, snapping the supporting branch.  He caught the apple on it's way down and smiled as he continued his search.

Verus had calmed down slightly, ant toxins beginning to wear off. His hand was slightly inflamed but nothing too bad. He was lucky enough to put his non-sword hand into the hole. The party would have been in a real pickle if put his other hand down their. The thought of that made him realize he needed to learn how to fight with his left hand. That or he would need to become proficient with a shield of some sort. The thought of it was amusing to him. He could brandish a buckler style small shield and only use it for parrying. The potential with his rapier was pretty great alone, but if done right could be paired with a shield to make a devastating combo.

Verus smiled after he finished contemplating, returning to his search. After a short walk towards the outer rim of the forest, he was able to spot a bush that bore a good amount of berries. He quickly picked as many as he could and stored them in his inventory, glad that he was finally able to find something.

Itzal smiled as he put the apple into his inventory.  That was two he'd collected now.  He turned around to head back.  As he walked he wondered how Verus was doing.  Those ant bites didn't look fun and Itzal should know.  His family's yard was infested with fire ants.  Those things hurt like crazy.  There was a reason they were called fire ants.  One bite was enough, but several?  Itzal shook his head, shrugging off the memory of the pain.  Best not to think about it.  He scanned the forest on his way back but couldn't find squat.  Still, he did find an apple.

The berry bush had left his hands stained slightly red, only giving his ant-bitten hand a worse look. He was getting rather messy on this expedition, but figured it would be worth it. Every little ingredient they gathered would come together for some truly edible deserts. His mouth salivated just thinking about it and he must have stood there for some time just daydreaming before realizing he needed to get back to searching. He figured Itzal wasn't too far away and decided to call to him. "Oy! How much we getting here?"

Itzal heard Verus call and began walking back.  He almost lost where he was and even took a wrong turn, almost getting lost.  When he decided to retrace his steps he tripped and found himself staring at thyme, a common plant used for cooking.  He grinned at his success and picked some of them.  When he rose to his feet he could see where he began his search.  He made his way through the brush, carefully avoiding any more poison ivy, and made his way over to Verus.

"I'm doing ok.  How's your ha- whoa!"  At first he thought Verus had blood on his hand but quickly realized that it was simply berry stain.  He shook his head and showed the apple and thyme.  "I'm doing ok.  Anything besides the berries?"

"Hand got stained by berries, no biggie." He moved his fingers around to show that his hand was not too damaged, only appearing as if. Verus nodded slightly, stretching out his arms afterwards. A huge wave of tiredness hit him hard out of the blue. He yawned and leaned up against one of the nearby tree's resting his cheek on the hard bark. "Berri....nut....bl..." His words were interrupted by several yawns with heavy blinking following. "Probably just the....ants. No big de....deal." He pushed himself off the tree and tried to stretch out his arms. "Sleep ants aren't real right...." Verus yawned slightly and looked to Itzal, eyes only just open.

Itzal was totally confused.  Sleep ants?  He had never once heard of such a thing.  Itzal suspected that this might just be an excuse to get out of material hunting.  He lightly kicked Verus.

"Ant bites or no, let's get at least one or two more ingredients for Adhae ok?"  Itzal didn't wait for Verus as he delved into the forest where Verus was.  He scanned the forest but wasn't finding anything.  Eventually however, he spotted a rabbit.  Disgusting thing.  He was about to kill it when he remembered his promise for Aimi.  He sighed with frustration which gained him the bunny's attention.

"Get out of here!" Itzal growled, scaring the rabbit away.  He shook his head as he moved on.

His tired ploy didn't work. Verus grinned and twisted his back slightly, listening to the pops and cracks it made. His drive to hunt for materials had long gone; his new drive wanting to find a stream or pond. Something watery just sounded fun to him. The day was slightly warm, sun shining down bright on top of the both of them. A good swim just sounded like the most pleasurable thing for him at the moment.

"Oh we have plenty! Plus we already have some stocked up anyway." Verus was desperate to swim or get by some water. Swimming was one of the few things besides video games that he enjoyed back in the real world. He had yet to go to a pond or lake in the game, and was immensely curious as to what it would be like compared to the real thing. He figured his party would come as well and they could have a mini beach day. "Adhae will be fiiiiiine. Just fiiiiine."
