[SP-F2] Trouble in the caves <Itzal> Complete

Recommended Posts

Itzal raced Velnia, to the mountains on the other side of the valley.  He laughed as she made a face at him, but almost fell behind when she spewed smoke at him.  He growled and swatted a hand at Velnia, making her growl as well.  Eventually it became a playful war on their way to the mountain.  By the time they finished both parties were exhausted and hungry.  Velnia noticed something and flew off a small ways away, returning with two dead bunnies, dropping them on the ground and throwing a small stream of fire, cooking the food.  Itzal smiled.

"I never knew you were a cook!"  Itzal thought he saw her blush but it was hard to tell.  He shook his head and took a bite out of the rabbit meat and grinned.  "Velnia, kill every rabbit you see."

After a quick lunch the two walked the rest of the way to the mountain range.  They saw a cave entrance and curiosity got the better of them.  Itzal walked slowly through the cave, looking for anything they could use for food for Adhae.  It began to get dark but he trained himself in taking his time until his eyes adjusted.  Velnia had no trouble in the dark evidently and once he was adjusted they had no issue.  He spotted what looked like an edible moss on the wall and he walked over.  When he grabbed it, the moss shattered into nothing.

"Crap," he muttered, and startled as it caused an echo that vibrated along the cave.  'Keep my mouth shut next time' he thought.  His eyes widened when he saw three small goblins run up to him, each carrying a short sword.  The ugly little creatures caught him by surprise but he managed to dodge each of their attacks, weaving through them until he was on the other side with his sword drawn.

Itzal had never seen goblins before so he didn't know their tactics.  Thus he decided to simply evade and observe.  He saw that two of them stayed behind the one in front.  The front goblin charged Itzal while the two behind tried to surround him.  Once he recognized this, he made it his mission to stay out of the circle.  There wasn't much room to fight in though.  He looked at Velnia.

"Can you scout out the path ahead and see if there's a larger room?"  She nodded and took off.  Now he just had to hold these morons off until then.

Itzal jumped back some more as the goblin charged him.  It grinned when he did so and he guessed that it either thought it had the advantage or it wanted him to be driven back there.  He decided to clear both situations with an advancing move.  He saw the back goblins begin switching places and made his move, charging his sword art but using a different one this time.  He used rage spike and slashed upward, cutting through all three goblins at once, landing a crit at the same time.  As he did so he saw the blood come out of all of them and smiled.  When he landed he turned around and looked at the shocked faces on the goblins.  They wouldn't underestimate him again, but it didn't matter.  This would be over soon.

The goblin to the right charged Itzal who struck his blade into it's throat, causing critical damage and watched as the bleeding effect finished off the mob.  The other two were close behind their fallen comrade and struck at Itzal, but he backflipped away and grinned.

"Geez, I knew you goblins were idiots but I didn't realize you were this stupid.  Those rumors about you guys are a compliment!"  The two goblins fumed and charged him, swinging their blades wildly with rage.  Which was exactly what he wanted.  He easily dodged the attacks and saw Velnia fly up to the scene.  She looked shocked at the damage he inflicted but nodded to Itzal.  He nodded back.  "Alright snot-heads," he said referring to their disgusting color, "I've got an appointment so let's wrap this up."

Itzal dodged their attacks, waiting for the bleeding effect to kick in.  When it did they fell down simultaneously at his feet.  He looked up for suitable loot but nothing popped up.

"Man, bummer," he muttered.  He glanced at Velnia who was waiting impatiently for him.  He smiled.  "Yeah yeah let's see what you've found."  He walked behind her as she guided him through what seemed like a small maze of tunnels.  How she navigated through all this was beyond him.  Even if she was in her natural environment this should be difficult for her.  Soon she led him through an opening and he couldn't help but gasp.  Before him was a giant cavern with a winding path along the ground, huge glowing crystals dotting the cavern floor as well as covering much of the walls.  "I've.  I've never seen anything like this before!  It's.  It's."  He looked at Velnia.  Her face spoke the exact same words he thought.

'Beautiful'.

Itzal and Velnia wandered their way through the path, Velnia staying up high so no more mobs could attack them by surprise.  Itzal gazed at all the different crystals as he walked, amazed at the beauty that he beheld.  He looked back and forth at the different colored crystals.  Red, green, yellow, blue, gray, white, brown, purple, orange, black, and even colors he'd never seen before in his life.  Even Velnia, who grew up in this virtual world, stared in awe at her surroundings.  Itzal noticed a somewhat loose, fist sized crystal the color of Velnia's scales nearby.  He walked over and picked it up.  He noticed it wasn't glowing and out of curiosity, pulled it into the shadows and gasped as it had the exact effect Velnia's scales made.  He brought it back in the light and saw that it reflected the light easily, making it seem to glow.  He grinned.

"This will make a great bracelet."  Velnia landed on his right arm and prodded his verbana bracelet.  He nodded.  "Yeah, probably should have something else.  Hmm.  What about a ring?  Or a necklace?"  Velnia cocked her head in thought before wrapping her tail around his finger.  He smiled.  "Ring it is then."

As Itzal continued on his path he gazed at the sparkling crystals as he passed by.  Then he realized that some of the crystals glowed while some did not.  Itzal assumed that some were like the crystal he picked up in the sense that they only shined in the light, while others would glow no matter what.  To test his theory, Itzal drew Retributor and swung it against some rocks near some dark crystals.  When it made contact there was a small flash followed by some sparks, upon which caused the crystal to reflect the light back in a brilliant flash.  Itzal smiled now that he knew he was right.  He returned his attention to exploring the cavern.  He kept trying to grab nearby crystals as he passed but nothing pulled.  He reached the center which contrary to the cliff and crystal like walls was more of a clearing with what looked like stone and crystal trees.  He scanned around and saw that there were two other paths as well, one that was dark and one that was lit up like the morning.  Itzal realized that either could be a trap.  There could be an ambush through the dark path and a physical trap through the lit path.  Itzal decided that if he had to choose, he'd rather fight an ambush.  If he was outmatched he could always run away.

For now however...

"Hey Velnia!  Why don't you come down, let's have lunch!"  He could hear Velnia cheer and descend.  As she floated down he rummaged through his inventory and found some food.  He pulled it out and looked at Velnia skeptically.  "I know you eat ten times more than I, which I honestly don't understand how you could, but I have to eat too so don't eat it all please."  She looked disappointed at first but then grinned and began munching on the food.  When they were almost done he heard a sound coming from the dark path.  He looked up and saw three more goblins.  One with a spear, and one with an ax.  Here we go again.

By the time Itzal stood to his feet the goblins were almost on him.  He didn't have time to learn how to fight against a spear, he had to jump out of the way.  He leaped upwards to grab onto the lower branches of a nearby rock tree.  Unfortunately, he grabbed a weak one and it broke on him.  He fell onto his back and his eyes widened as he felt the goblin's spear pierce his chest, as well as the second goblin's ax chop at his sword arm.  Itzal grimaced from the pain and couldn't move.  They managed a critical hit on him.  They caught him by surprise.  He growled and focused his gaze on the two.  He couldn't let that happen again.

When the goblins brought their weapons up again to strike a second time, Itzal forced himself to ignore the pain and rolled out of the way just in time.  He leaped to his feet and wavered a moment or two before drawing Retributor and deflecting the ax's attack, dodging the stab from the spear.  He placed the flat side of Retributor on the spear and dashed after the goblin wielding it, the sword glowing red as he charged snake bite and creating sparks as he dragged it along the shaft of the spear, and swung it at the goblin, causing minimal damage.  He made a harsh turn after the attack and saw the two charge after him again.

The goblin with the ax rushed forward first, swinging it down at his left side.  Itzal rolled to his right and saw that this was what it intended and backflipped right before the goblin with the spear pierced where he was.  The second goblin came at him again but this time he was ready.  When he jumped to the side he threw his blade up at the spear, deflecting it back.  He was about to strike the goblin while it was open but the goblin with the ax jumped in between and swung it in no pattern whatsoever.  Deflecting the attacks became all he could do as he backed up.  Velnia gave out a cry and he gave a quick glance behind to see that they were pushing him toward the cliff-like wall.

Itzal had looked back too long and the goblin with the ax got another crit on him.  Growling in frustration, Itzal returned his attention to deflecting the opponent's strikes.  Maybe he should have gotten armor that upped his MIT instead of evasive.  It didn't matter now and when he heard Velnia give a second cry he turned around and ran up the wall to the left, planning to jump at the right second and hit clear space once again.  Unfortunately the goblin with the spear got a good stab at him before he could and he fell to the ground in pain.

Itzal had barely gotten back up on his feet when they were on again, hacking and stabbing at him constantly.  He managed to dodge and deflect the attacks but they were close.  He jumped backward the moment he felt the pain slip away.  He had to find some way to beat these idiots.  The one with the spear needed to be killed first, that much was obvious.  If only he could land a critical hit on them and give the bleeding effect.  But in order to do that he had to stay alive.  He took a deep breath as he plunged into the fray again.

Itzal did not hesitate when the first goblin jabbed it's spear at him again.  Instead of avoiding it, he grabbed the shaft with his left hand and shoved it away as he charged his sword art and used uppercut, giving the foolish goblin the stun effect.  The other goblin roared at him when it saw it's stunned companion and swung it's ax wildly.  He didn't care.  In fact after he kicked the goblin away from him, he assumed the pattern would become he hits the spear goblin and proceeds to deflect the other goblin's attack.

Itzal charged snake bite and struck the fallen goblin with all his might.  If he could slay this goblin before it woke up he'd only have one assailant on his back the rest of the time.  After he struck he turned around and parried the ax away from him, kicking the goblin once again.  He saw that Velnia was worried so he nodded and she knew she could help out.  The ax goblin was about to hit him again when she blew smoke in his eyes and he let go of the ax as he tried to get the pain out of his eyes.

Itzal swung again at the mob when it rolled out of the way.  Shocked he changed his footwork for the lack of a physical obstacle.  Itzal had thought it would be stunned for multiple turns.  Or was that paralysis?  Either way his foe moved and he had to finish it off before they finished him off.  He kicked the spear away which seemed to anger the goblin.  It dashed after it but not before getting pricked by Retributor.  The ax goblin roared and charged him, but he step sided the attack.

Itzal kicked the second goblin's face and ran to the spear goblin who was about to pick up it's weapon.  He swung his sword in it's face and kicked the spear a second time.  The goblin was angry and tried tackling him before Velnia sprayed it with a stream of smoke, temprarrily blinding it, giving Itzal the time to deflect the second goblin's attack with Retributor.  Once he did so he jumped back and hovered over the goblin's spear, keeping an eye on both of them.

Itzal saw the goblin with the ax throw a huge swing and ducked to avoid it, lifting his foot up causing the goblin to trip and fall behind him.  He returned his attention to the other and was surprised to see that it had picked up a large rock and had thrown it at him.  He dodged it a second time but this distracted him from behind and he was kicked out of the way.  When he recovered the goblin grabbed the spear.  Itzal grinned at the goblin, who seemed to be shocked by the expression.  This gave him the distraction he hoped for.

The two goblins shook their heads and charged.  Itzal jumped over them as he charged snake bite.  As he landed he jabbed his sword at the goblin with the spear, finishing it off.  The other goblin roared in anger and charged at him.  Itzal parried and blocked the blows while Velnia snuck in behind and grabbed it's ear, yanking it to the ground.  Itzal was losing his breath.  He had to finish this.

The goblin jumped to it's feet surprisingly fast.  Furious and wrathful in the loss of it's comrade, it swung a hand at Velnia, catching her off guard and sending her through the air while swinging it's ax with heavy yet swift blows.  Itzal managed to dodge or parry most of them but the last one hit him square in the chest.  Another crit!  That seemed to be all these guys landed on him was crits.  He growled and swung his blade at the goblin but it jumped back.  It seemed to understand that although it wanted revenge, it wouldn't get that if it was dead.
