[Sp-F1] Col gathering <Itzal>

Recommended Posts

Itzal wandered the first floor yet again.  After his encounter with the goblins he decided he'd take hordes of weaker mobs.  To do that he'd head to the lower floor.  He had talked with Velnia about wanting to get a house and she seemed very excited about it.  In order to get one though they'd need heaps of col.  Since he needed col as well as exp, he decided to go out and fight a couple mobs.  He'd probably find some sort of profession somewhere along the line though he couldn't really see himself doing anything like that but might as well.

"Where should we go?" he asked Velnia.  She cocked her head and looked at the mountains.  As she did so he shook his head.  "After that incident l'd rather take a break from caves."  She shrugged her acknowledgement and landed on his shoulder.  He thought for a moment before recalling the forest they'd visited so many times before.  He shrugged.

"Better than nothing."

Itzal walked leisurely along the road as he was in no rush at all.  All he hoped was that he didn't encounter any more wolves.  Those things seemed to have much more luck than he ever had.  As they walked he drew Retributor and began wiping off the dirt with a cloth he found for this such purpose.  The black paint kept the blade from reflecting light so the dirt had no purpose.  If anything it made it harder to slice through opponents.  As he cleaned it Velnia began humming a tune.  Itzal recognized this as the song he was beginning to write and quickly looked around to see if anyone was nearby to listen to it.  Nobody was.  He gave a breath of relief.  He wasn't ready for anyone to know he was writing songs yet.  Itzal realized that he might have actually found a profession.  He only wrote songs for fun, but he couldn't really do anything with it if he couldn't play the lute, which was used for making helpful items.  If he mastered this technique he could make a good profit.

He smiled and began humming with Velnia, who hummed louder now that her owner was singing along with her.  He had only worked out the rhythm and beat of the song, but he intended to add words soon.  He wanted his first song to be about his sister, and others would probably be about either about friendship or gaming.  The sound of a twig snapping drew his attention and he noticed four boar that surrounded him.  He glanced at Velnia and nodded, signalling for her to climb higher into the air.  She did so and he waited for the boar to move.  Interesting enough, all four of them charged at the same time.  Itzal simply jumped into the air and watched them collide with one another.  While in the air he charged and released rage spike, striking through all four boar at the same time.  He grinned when he saw the bleeding effect land.

"This will be quick," he thought.

The boar's recovered from the four way headbutt quicker than Itzal anticipated, and they retaliated even quicker.  One of the boar rammed into him square in the chest while the other three slashed at his side with their tusks.  He grimaced from the attack but hadn't done much to him.  After the impact he regained his ground and saw that the bleeding effect kicked in, damaging them all to critical health and causing them to flinch.  He moved in a flash of speed at the nearest boar, the one that rammed him, and cut it open, killing it instantly.  One down, three to go, he thought.

Itzal saw the other three boar charge at him furiously and he grinned.  "You guys never learn."  He jumped onto one, pushing himself off and swung his sword at the second one, causing a crit and bleeding effect right before it shattered into nothing.  When he landed he tilted his body enough to evade the third boar's attack.  He heard the cry of pain as the bleeding effects took over and then the mob's shattering into pieces.  He turned around and frowned as no loot menu came up.

"Dang it," he muttered.  Velnia hovered in place, obviously disappointed as well.  Itzal rubbed the back of his head.  "Well, serves me right I guess for doing this at the easiest floor possible."  He shook his head.  "Ah whatever, it's still xp right?"  Velnia nodded happily and glided swiftly toward the forest.  "O-ho-ho, I see how it is!" Itzal said with a grin before racing her to the forest.

Itzal laughed as Velnia looked under her belly to spot him and grinned.  Itzal was just about to dash faster when he heard a bark.  He turned his head to his right and saw a wolf making it's way up to attack his side.

"Oh no you don't!"  Itzal roared as he raised Retributor to block the wolf's attack.  "No!  Not while I'm racing you don't!"  The wolf only replied with another attempt of attack but once again was knocked back by his blade.  He tried to hit the wolf so it would roll and be left behind but it dodged the attack.  He turned his head to Velnia real quick and saw that she was already taking this opportunity to get well ahead of him.  "Alright," he told the wolf.  "But let's make this quick!"

Itzal swung Retributor at the wolf, who dodged it just in the nick of time.  It tried to tackle Itzal but he slowed down just enough for the wolf to miss him, then sped up again.  The wolf managed to keep it's footing and stay by his side.  Itzal charged his sword with snake bite and as the wolf made another shot at him, he swung twice at the wolf, dealing some damage.  He did not care for taking up time like this, especially against stupid wolves, but he had to admit, it was kind of fun to fight while running at this speed.  It was a new scenario for him and he always loved coming up with new strategies.  Itzal began to work his brain on this one.

Itzal began forming a plan.  He'd let the wolf keep rushing at him and he'd keep dodging.  As he dodged he would strike it with a sword art.  Eventually the wolf would figure out the pattern and change tactics, but Itzal was pretty good at adapting and he figured he'd have no problem when it came time to cross that bridge.  So he let the wolf jump at him again and once again he slowed down, charged his sword art, and struck at the wolf as it landed.  It yelped at first but once it caught up with him again it was growling furiously.  Itzal wondered if his bad luck with wolves was gonna resurface again.

Itzal's luck didn't change however.  The wolf seemed to think that third time's a charm and jumped at him again.  A bit shocked at this one wolf's stupidity he dodged it's attack and charged snake bite, slashing at it another two times.  It yelped once again and Itzal could tell it realized it wasn't going to get him like this and seemed to be changing tactics.  Itzal grinned as he realized the fun was about to begin.

The wolf ran faster, making sure it was in front of Itzal.  Itzal saw what it was about to do and jumped right before it turned around to bite him, charging snake bite slashing downward at it's back as he did so.  The wolf yelped and turned sharply so it could catch up to him again.  Itzal wondered if it would resort back to it's original tactic or not.  He wasn't disappointed.  This time the wolf ran straight from behind, attempting to claw at his back.  Itzal swung his sword behind him, deflecting the attack.  Unfortunately that caused him to slow down.  He'd lose the race if this didn't end.

Itzal parried and blocked until he couldn't take it any more.  This wolf had lost him the race and that made him pissed.  He made a sudden stop and swung at the wolf.  What he didn't realize was the wolf had jumped after him with an open maw, expecting a moving target.  The result of this was both fighters losing their footing and falling on the ground a good ways away from each other.  Itzal and the wolf got to their feet.  It was time to end this stupid game.

The wolf charged at Itzal after regaining it's balance and Itzal did the same.  When they came in contact the wolf gave him no opportunity to strike back.  He felt like he was under the barrage of sword attacks, keeping him from making a hit.  He parried and blocked second after second, keeping his eyes peeled for the opening he so hatefully desired.

The wolf tried to force it's way through Itzal but he kicked it away just before it hit him.  Instantly after he charged his sword art just as the wolf lunged.  At this point he figured they both didn't care if they got hit.  They just wanted to land something.  The wolf's jaws snapped around his shoulder just as snake bite thrust into it's belly.  They remained still for a moment or two before the wolf fell limp and Itzal backed up with a hand on his shoulder.

"Serves, you, right" he muttered, then turned around and let his eyes widen with shock.  He ran past the forest completely.

Itzal panted heavily as he jogged his way over to the tree where Velnia waited with a smirk on her face.  When he came to a stop he took three long breaths before waving his hand at her and bending over.

"Just...  Shut.  up," he said, causing her to roll onto her back laughing.  This caused her to lose her balance and fall onto the ground.  Where she proceeded to laugh even harder as she rolled on the floor.  Itzal took a good minute and a half before he was able to stand without his lungs burning like white flames.  "Ok," he said.  "Let's take, a break."  He looked around and spotted a large tree and pointed to it.  "How about there?" he asked.  "Let's get some rest."  She rolled her eyes and glided over.  He sighed as he lay his back against the tree.

Itzal sat there staring up at the sky.  Whenever he had these moments Velnia chose to lie on his lap and let him pet her, purring with content as he did so.  The verbana bracelet blew in the wind and Itzal once again thought about his sister.  He wondered what would happen if she actually did get trapped in Sao with him.  Her immediate reaction would be to clutch onto him and ask him what they should do and if mom and dad would be ok.  Then proceed to ask if they'd be ok.  After some reassuring, he would probably have made her his first priority.  He'd find a place with just the two of them and tell her how he was going to become strong and to stay in the safe zone.  Then she'd say she wanted to come with him wherever he went and after some heated debate he'd probably concede.

After that who knows what would happen?  The game changes people, for better or worse.  She may have become a great warrior, or a better comforter than she was in real life.  Though Itzal doubted that anything could cause her to harm other players, whether on purpose or even by accident.  No she'd never take a life.  Itzal looked to his right and saw a berry patch.  Velnia noticed too and they both picked it clean together.

After picking the bush he stood up.  He realized he was sitting there longer than he realized and decided to get back to mob fighting.  He saw a group of what seemed like large rats.  Rats?  He'd never seen this monster before.  There seemed to be four of them but he was betting he'd be able to take them.  He whistled loudly for their attention and made a rude gesture to irritate them.  The four charged at him at the same time.  Unfamiliar with fighting rodents, he couldn't keep an eye on all four as they dashed with incredible speed over to his position in zig-zagged patterns.  One attacked him from the side and after that the other three.  He had no time to react.

Itzal saw the rats coming this time and jumped into the air, slashing down at the nearest one.  As he landed the other rats were quickly on him, but he swung the flat of his blade at them all, knocking them at a safe distance away.  The one he hit came last and he kicked at it before jumping back to widen the gap between them all.

Itzal jumped to avoid the first rat's attack and swung his blade to warn off the other two while awaiting the rat he hit.  It charged and Itzal pulled the old 'ole' and slashed the rat as it ran by.  They all rounded up on him but he was too fast, dodging, jumping or parring his way out of their strikes.  Sure they got lucky at first, but even luck has to run out sometimes right?  Itzal had skill though.  Skill lasted forever.

The rats were getting angry at missing him now and began attacking faster and faster.  Soon they matched Itzal's speed as he desperately evaded their attacks.  He wouldn't be able to strike back at this rate.  And if he didn't kill one of these rats soon, or even better, land a bleeding effect on them he could be in serious trouble.  He couldn't let that happen.  He had Aimi to think of.  His new friends.  He had to survive this.  He wouldn't be bested by a bunch of oversized rats!

Finally he gathered up the strength and with a roar he made a gamble and went for an all out attack, striking all four of them twice with rage spike, landing a crit, bleeding effect and sprawling far away from him.  They were all dazed from the attack which gave Itzal a moment to breath.  After that he glared at them through his hood.

"I'm not dying.  Not today.  Not tomorrow.  Not ever in this world!  Even if it was designed to keep us here forever Aimi would never let me be willing to die!  And above all I am NOT going to die by one of the stupidest creatures imaginable!!!"

The last comment drove the rats crazy and they all charged at him.  He struck at one of the rats right before each of them chomped on his legs or arms.  Though it hurt he did nothing to stop it.  He stood there like stone when the landed on him and didn't even take a step back.  One was dead after the bleeding effect, now all that was left was the finishing blow.
