[PP-NK-F1] >>Earning A Living<< A chef's weary beginnings (Itzal and Alisa)

Recommended Posts

Today was the day Alisa was going to get her profession! And she was super excited to get to the quest. Looking up towards the sky, she noted that it was starting to become twilight. The sun was coming down and the day was ending. She continued towards the quest giver, nearly forgetting she was going with someone. Her trainer and helper, Itzal, was with her the entire time. He had suggested after gathering some materials that they go and take this quest so she can get her profession. It wasn't a bad idea. The only problem was that she was too wrapped up in her own thoughts that she was about to pass by the NPC that gave the quest, wrapped up in her own little world.

She got like this sometimes. Too busy with herself to even perceive the outside world. It came with a long life of not really participating with other people. Sometimes she wouldn't even respond if someone asked her a question like this. The worst part was she was walking, and collided into a wall of a building. This elicited a groan from her as she stepped back from the wall, rubbing her head. "Oww...that hur---Oh hey, we're here.." she says, her cheeks a bit red. Though, she was laughing at her own stupidity.

Itzal chuckled from her collision but didn't push on the funny fact.  He was a bit excited today as Alisa would meet Velnia for the first time.  He didn't tell her but Kasier helped him find her again.  Kasier..  Originally he thought bad about her when he saw the change.  He thought she had become cold and hard but she did care about others.  He needed time to apologize.  He opened the door and stood to the side, bowing and gesturing her to the door.
"After you."  Velnia said to meet her in the forest remember?  Of course I remember that's the sixth time you told me.  As they walked inside They saw that the entire house was filled with kitchen utensils and crates with food.  The smells coming out from the door was intoxicating and Itzal suddenly felt like he hadn't eaten in a year.  He walked in after Alisa and saw the woman.  She was elderly and smiled at them.  "Hello there.  Alisa here wants to know if you could teach her how to cook."  The lady smiled at her.

"Well of course I can deary!  I just need you to fetch me some ingredients first!"  Itzal was about to walk out now that she obtained the quest, but paused.

"Could I, have a snack real quick?"

Continuing to rub her head, she listened to the old lady and Itzal talk back and forth. She knew about this. She had to now, after accepting the quest, go and get a material and bring it back to make something. Easy enough, just leave, go kill one boar, come back, and then make tasty food! And with Itzal by her side, she could easily slay an animal. Well...that was if Itzal was by her side. It seemed he was hungry, and wanted the old lady to get something to eat. While she was hungry herself, she was too excited to stop and eat some form of food. As Itzal mentioned about getting food, she asked meekly that, "Could I go and get that material? I'll meet you back here, okay senpai?"

If he allowed her, she would leave and well, go fight an animal!

Itzal hesitated.  He knew she could handle herself but there was always that small chance the monster could be powerful and intelligent, landing multiple crits.  Then again he needed to let her handle things on her own from time to time.  She needed this.

"Alright," he said.  "Just make sure it's low enough level for you to handle ok?  I'll check up on you in a moment."  He saw her light up and run out of the house.  Good.  She needs to practice alone.  I know.  But that doesn't stop me from worrying.  Although Ulises said nothing he silently agreed.  She was still young and hadn't even received her first actual sword yet.  Itzal had been hoping she would get the gear so she wouldn't have great chances of dying.  Ulises wanted her to get the gear because he wanted her to become as badass as Itzal was.  Or rather, what he hoped to be.  Ulises only accepted the most awesome and strong.  Itzal accepted everyone.  Therefore they often compromised.  One of those compromises was training new players.  The old lady winked at Itzal and began prepping the supplies.

"What would you like deary?"  Itzal could think of only one thing.

"A quiche would be nice mam, thank you."

Alisa gave him a smile. She knows not to pick a fight that is over her head. All she was going to do was fight a low level boar and come back. Easy peasy. She could even one hit it! She quickly turned around without another word and left the house. She was going to go to the nearby field where the low level boars spawned. Kill one and be done with this quest. Keeping a hand on her rapier she walked out over to the field. The forest to her left and the expanse of the floor to her right, she looked around for the wild boars.

It took her a few minutes, but she found a little section where the boars were hanging around. They had nothing to do until a player approached them. Finding a small group, tow measly boars, she approached them, hand still on her rapier. She was waiting for them to notice her before even drawing her rapier. Two boars versus herself seemed like a more fair fight. Plus she'd get more materials for it, so it was a win win situation to be honest.

The two boar were grazing.  They were sick of getting chased by players and they had found this cliff in hopes for peace and quiet...  Before getting pissed enough to go chase them later on.  As they grazed they heard something approach.  The older boar looked over and narrowed his eyes.  Great.  The player approaching had her rapier out and she strode over as if they were nothing.  They had seen this over confidence ten too many times.  But this player was alone.  They outnumbered her.  Sick of running, sick of hiding from these stupid humans the older boar nudged it's partner who glanced and looked a bit nervous.  When he spotted the anger in the elder boar's eyes it understood.  The two turned to the girl and stomped their hooves, daring her to charge.  They had watched their brothers fall and they weren't going to fall for the same tricks.

Alisa smiled, looking at the first boar. It was actually more powerful than she had thought. The UI said it had sixteen HP, half of hers actually. This could cause a problem if she didn't pay attention and didn't stay safe. But, she was here to win. Cheerfully, she readied her weapon, waiting for the boars to make a mistake. For their eyes to dart away for a second, a reluctance to defend. Anything that would make them more vulnerable for attack. She may have stood for minute, waiting...but suddenly an opportunity was opened. A bird in the nearby forest chirped and flew away, causing movement and noise. Said actions caused the first boars eyes to dart away. Before they were back Alisa was already upon him. Sadly, the boar, since it was higher level than the others she had fought, was more agile, and sprung away right as she thrust forward. Seeing her attack going to the ground she quickly jumped to the right, distancing herself from the animals.

This left Alisa with a frown. She needed to land these shots...

The boar watched as Alisa struck at it, but had underestimated it.  The creature rushed passed her and it's companion backed up a little bit before charging.  The player was able to evade the boar easily but he was simply distracting her.  It was a tactic they figured out while fighting more and more players.  They became stronger, and they became faster.  Eventually they came up with this:  Distract them, then strike from behind.  The older boar who had run passed the player had turned around now, beginning to charge with full force.  By the time he was halfway to her was when his sibling passed by her, forcing her to turn her back to him.  All he needed to do was hit her legs and force her to the ground.  Then they could tear her up with their tusks and show this villain who was really the stronger ones.  Unfortunately she turned around and spotted him just in time to jump out of the way, causing him to charge dangerously close to the cliff before stopping himself.

Meanwhile, a wolf was pacing nearby and heard the fight going on.  It snarled and bared it's teeth, ready to take down a player and have a little snack.  However when it saw the player it's ears perked up as it smelled familiar.  The monster thought for a moment before finally recognizing it:  The girl was with the demonblade.  They called the black cloaked player demonblade on account of how he brutally destroyed both tyrant wargs with his dark blade.  If this girl died he'd be pissed again and they couldn't have that.

Alisa gave them a light smile. These boars weren't just mindless they were working together. It was rather intriguing to be honest. The smile could be seen as a taunt, but she was honestly happy to see the well-programmed A.I. in this game. I mean, they are trapped inside of it, but the game play is 10/10. She'll have to give her review on it after she gets out. Laughing to herself of her own conversation in her head, she gets back to the fight, out of the blue charging the boars. She was hoping that her sudden movements would confuse them, allowing her to get a quick and easy hit off. Her tactic worked. The strategy was sloppy, and wouldn't allow for any form of sophisticated critical hit, no, it was just to get one off on them.

Thankfully, the attack works, and she pushed her rapier through the ear of one of the boars. It did the smallest amount of damage possible, yes, but she had already been able to back away from the boars and be ready to dodge attacks.

The younger boar was struck and squealed in pain before retreating and turning around.  The younger boar was ticked from the attack but not as much as it's older companion.  Thankfully it managed to keep it's head.  When it came at her from behind she was expecting it and turned to strike him.  The boar wasn't charging at full speed however and jumped to the side, evading her strike.  The younger boar caught on to what it's elder was doing and began to do the same, observing her pattern of attack and preparing to adapt to it.  While they did this another wolf joined the first and they shared information.  They watched as the two boar continued to fake attacks and they both knew that while this player was skilled, and was obviously using these boar for training purposes, they weren't stupid.  They were at the stage where they knew to learn and adapt before making the charge.  The girl was going to need help soon.

Alisa grinned. She thought she had this. Perhaps she was overconfident or just ignorant. But, she hadn't gotten hit, and had done some damage. But, that wasn't something she needed to think about. She was in the middle of a fight, and she had to keep at it, or die in the process. Standing back from the boars, she attempted to charge down the boar she had already damaged. It was a uncreative attack, but it worked.

And work it did, her immediate charge through the first boar, boar A off and the neck was exposed for a fraction of a second. However, Alisa had a better idea. She was getting more agile and was faster than before. Right before she strikes, she decides to try out a new
Sword art she hadn't used before. Quickly, her blade lights up a dark red as she dashes past the boars. It barely seemed like she attacked, but, two lines of pixelization appear on both of the boar. She dealt an AoE attack, and a rather powerful one at that. She grinned, feeling way over-confident.

The two boar squealed in pain as the player had managed a wide spread sword art, dealing sufficient damage to them both.  Both of their eyes flashed red with hatred.  That's it they'd had enough.  They were going to kill this player.  Brutally.  The older boar charged forward at full speed, forcing the girl to leap out of the way.  Right into the younger boar's charge who squared her in the stomach, forcing the air out of her lungs.  As she rolled across the ground the older boar ran up and stopped her with his tusks, piercing them into her back.  The younger boar now charged at his now helpless target.  When he rammed into her he turned around and proceeded to kick her in the face.  At least it would have worked if the wolf watching the whole scene hadn't rushed up and shoved the boar out of the way, biting it's back as it did so.  The wolf made a concerned look to Alisa before returning to it's hateful strikes.  The older boar had pulled it's tusks out from the shock, allowing Alisa time to get up.

OOC- if she get's angry it can't be frustration or Itzal will not notice something's up.  She has to be REALLY pissed

Alisa yelled out in pain, holding herself as the boar tusks impaled her chest. Even though it wasn't really pain, it still hurt somewhat. And with her low tolerance to said pain, it really affected her...

There was light fire behind her eyes as she stood up muttering a phrase in French, "Ce putain de mal! * " She didn't even mean to swear. It just came out, which is rather odd for her. She wasn't one to cuss or be angry to the degree to do so. But, something was different this time. She was angry, furious that she had been inflicted this pain. She barely even noticed the wolf come to help, she just pushed through the pain and charged a boar down.

However, her charge would be rather ineffective and she moves past the boar while attempting to impale it. Her attack misses and she stumbles back, still a rather...angry look on her face. She had lost her cool for the first time in a long time. It didn't help she just missed the enemy. She turned to face the boars, ready for an incoming attack.

*: "That [censored] Hurt!" in French

The two boar were furious that the wolf was interfering but they wouldn't let that stop them.  This player finally pissed them off and they would get even with all the torment they have been given.  When the wolf was knocked off the boar it growled before attempting to strike it again.  Unfortunately the boar was ready for it and swung it's tusks so that it picked up the unsuspecting wolf and threw it close to the cliff edge, causing it to yelp from the sudden contact against the hard stone.  The two boar returned their attention to the girl who had temporarily lost her balance.  Both boar charged her, aiming for the spaces beside her so there was no way she could jump out of the way.  When they were close they closed in, both of them slamming into her torso.  When she fell to the ground the two of them proceeded to pound her with their front hooves with all the force they could, smashing into her stomach, legs, arms and face.  They were determined for her to understand the pain they had to endure all their lives and would not give up until she was close to death.  The wolf began to stir and made the signal for the other wolf to come to their help.

Alisa brought her hands up and fiercely shoved the boars off of her. Using a trick she had learned, Alisa roll backwards and quickly stood up. She was in pain, and there were small pixelization marks all around her body from the attack. Steadying her hand she looked onwards towards the boars. It was time to end this. There was fire behind her eyes. She was ready to kill. Never had she been this angry before.

As Alisa charged her Rapier glowed a dark red. She had charged the same sword art as before, and when she got to the boars, there were two cuts made in an X form, cutting into the skulls of the boars. She didn't deal a sneaky critical, but it worked. However, she did just drain all of her energy.

Stepping away from the boars, she looks on at them, angry, a murderous intent in her eyes.

Itzal was leaving the old lady's house with the last bits of a donut.  Oh my goodness donuts were good.  Pizza bacon and donuts were the greatest foods of all time.  There was nothing better.  He was about to finish the last bite when he heard a roar of anger echo from outside the city.  He dropped the food and drew Retributor, dashing for the gate.  When he arrived he stopped from the shock of the scene.  Two boar were being assaulted by two wolves and Alisa.  What really shocked him was the manner in which Alisa attacked.  It was nothing short of pure hatred.  What.  Where did THIS come from?!  Ulises demanded.  Itzal couldn't answer as the boar were charging Alisa.  He saw them ram into her and ran over her before the wolves shoved her off.  Itzal saw her rage grow and this time pure concern was the reason for his attack.  He dashed forward and released rage spike on the two boar, killing them both.  As the loot menu popped up on Alisa's screen he grabbed her hand and lifted her to her feet.  He glanced at the two wolves.

"Thanks for keeping her safe guys," he said and the two wolves nodded before running back into the forest.  He turned to Alisa, his face showing nothing but concern and determination.  "Alisa.  I've never seen you like this before and I know that events change people.  What happened to you Alisa?  Please tell me the truth."

Alisa looked up at Itzal as he came to her rescue. There was still hatred in her eyes for a few minutes until he held out his hand. She sighed and took his hand, standing up, feeling rather bad. She had gone a bit out of hand, and maybe even seemed a bit scary. She gave him a small but weary smile as she looked down.

“S-Sorry I was so angry…” She felt rather ashamed he acted like that in front of someone. Itzal especially! She wasn’t supposed to be like that. But…it just came over her…She had been upset since her little duel with Kaiser..was it because of that?

“I…uhm…” she sighs again, and her body language means she will most likely tell the truth. “I uhm…have been angry…since I had that fight with Kaiser…you know, the one you set up?” she looked back up at him, giving him another light smile. She had calmed down now since Itzal was here.

All color drained from Itzal's face.  There was silence, both physically and mentally for the longest time.  She.  Did.  What?  Kasier Itzal thought.  And that thought triggered anger.  Anger that Kasier would dare do something like this without his permission, let alone telling him about it.  The anger sparked until it fueled a large fire, burning bright and Itzal struggled to keep it under control.  His eyes however showed the spark very clearly.  He took in a deep breath.

"Alisa.  I never.  Ever.  Told Kasier to do anything of the sort.  She lied to you.  She manipulated you Alisa to see things her way.  And I won't stand for it."  He straightened.  "You can finish the quest with the old lady.  If you want you can come find me.  I'll be wherever Kasier is.  If you want you can go to the camp and wait for me there.  Either way we're going to have a little chat with Kasier."  He didn't wait for her.  He started walking away, pulling up the menu to message Kasier.  He would have her wait by the cliffside at midnight.  In the meantime he and Ulises had some thinking to do.  Thinking.  And planning.

Alisa looked at Itzal in light fright. He seemed…really angry at what she said. Did she say something wrong? No…it was Kaiser..Kaiser had tricked her into the fight. It didn’t need to happen. Why would Kaiser lie to her?  To make her see the world the same way as herself? That didn’t seem like the best reason but…what did she know.

Itzal sounded like he wanted to hurt Kaiser, not that he just wanted to figure out what was going on. She called for him as he stormed off, but to no avail.

“Senpai wait…it doesn’t matter…” she mutters, out of earshot from him. She didn’t want him to go hurt Kaiser. Even though Kaiser seemed to have lied to her, she never said it was Itzal who sat that up. That was her own words. She didn’t know what was really going on. It was her fault, not Kaiser’s.

She stood there, in the field, before walking back to the old lady, a glum expression on her face to finish the quest.
