(PP-F1) Celestial Ascendant Initiation (Birdie)

Recommended Posts

Jonathan stood on the first floor in his full set of armor. It wasn't as nice of day as he would have liked it to be. Lightining flashed in the sky, and rained poured down, flattening Jonathan's golden hair. He sighed. He needed to get Birdie's initiation in so she could start her training. He opened his messenger and told her to meet him by the first floor for her initiation. He pressed send, and sat on the fountain. Rained pelted his face but he took it. His duties prevailed all, and his mission at the moment was to bring another player into his protecting custody. He stood, waiting and looked up as a lighting lit up the dark and rainy sky. Hopefully Birdie is not busy at the moment

A spark of light radiated from Starting City's teleportation stones, the shorter woman with cyan hair appearing in its place seconds later. Birdie had received a message minutes prior from Morgenstern, the man she presumed to be the leader of the Celestial Ascendants. From what she'd read, the guild looked to be centred around helping lower level players gain experience and ascend in levels, wanting nothing but commitment and a promise to help out other low-levels in return. Those goals aligned with Birdie's ideologies perfectly, hence she was excited to hear back that she'd been invited to an initiation session

She hovered around town, keeping an eye out for the person she was meant to be meeting. It hadn't taken long for her to reach the fountain, and it was only a matter of deciphering which face belonged to the Celestial Ascendant's leader. The rain obscured most people's noticeable features, leaving Birdie to stand around as if she was completely lost. Add in that her clothes were drenched from the rain and it was easy to tell her attitude wasn't the most pleasant in that moment. She set a foot aside in preparation of moving on, though a peculiar suit of armour caught her attention at the last second. She approached the man, her expression curious. "H-hello? Morgenstern?" His white metal armour and golden hair fit the description, though she wouldn't make presumptions.

Jonathan stood waiting until he seen a girl with Cyan hair approach. Jonathan smiled. She had a face of one who was searching for something. This was Birdie. Jonathan smiled as she approached. "H-hello? Morgenstern?" Jonathan smiled. Ahh, you must be Birdie... For the record though just call me Jonathan. Its what everyone else does. It is nice to finally meet you, Birdie.  Jonathan cleared his throat. Now, about Celestial Ascendants. I was informed you would like to join. First, however; I need to exchange information with you. First off, Celestial Ascendants is a guild focused on rising its members in level and strength within the game. We are here to lessen the amount of death and progress in the game. That being said, there is zero tolerance for attacking another member. Now, for us to progress, I need to know what role you would be . Tank, Dmg, Healer, or Scout? And I need to know if you have any questions that I can answer for you. Jonathan took a breath as he finished. He allowed Birdie to ask and answer his questions.

Birdie gave a resounding sigh, listening patiently as Jonathon introduced both himself and the guild. It was a lot to take in but she understood what was needed of her, and she had a few questions of her own to ask. "It's lovely to meet you Jonathon, and you have my word, I don't intend to bring harm to any players - especially not other members of the guild." She continued, "I think the Scout role fits me best. I'm not particularly great at dealing damage, I have a high evasion stat from my equipment, and I wanted to specialise in Search & Detect once I gain enough skill points. A-at least, I think that would constitute becoming a Scout.." Birdie thought back on Jonathon's words, trying to remember if there was anything else she needed to say. Satisfied that she'd fulfilled all of his requests, it was her turn to start asking some questions. "I only have a few questions, if that's okay with you. How will my role affect my duties as part of the guild?"

Jonathan listened intently, even as the thunder roared above them, sending crackles of energy through the sky, with another power to smite down a player. The Bluenette answered his questions and requests at record speeds. Promising her vow to not harm another of the members but he had no fear of her doing so. Most of the people he had recruited had been decent players. He had no worry of them going rogue. Jonathan thought for a second of her role. Scout. Those were becoming more popular by the day. They were very important and Jonathan respected them. She did not seem quite for sure of how to use her skill points to her greatest advantage. Jonathan smiled and began to reply "Well, about yor skill points and how to use them, I am not exactly sure as I am not the Scout Paladin, but he should easily manage to answer that question. AS for your duties, It will decide what you would do to help yourself and guild. Saying in which, you would not want a Scout tanking or a Tank, being a damage dealer. Being a Scout would make you able to take in participation, searching for materials, Searching for rare Items or even finding boss rooms or treasure chests. Thats why Itzal and I are a perfect team. I do the fighting and he finds the stuff we are looking for. Scouts are essential in this game. Without them I feel like we would be on Floor ten at the moment. Hope that answered your question. Now for your initiation, I would like to see your skills in searching for a material or two then perhaps fight a mob.

Birdie nodded as she listened to Jonathon speak, taking in each piece of information he passed onto her. The prospect of meeting with an accomplished scout was exciting though she'd have to bury those thoughts away for the time being, focusing on the conversation at hand instead.

"Wow, scouts are.. way more important than I imagined." She didn't expect to be slouching around and doing nothing all day, it was just nice to know that she'd eventually be able to contribute quite a lot to the guild. "Gathering materials? Say no more, it'll be done." To idea of fighting a mob had her nervous, doubting her usefulness in combat. "Where are we going for the initiation? If we find a cave there's a good chance of finding a couple of materials, and.. maybe a cave bat too."

With that underway, she felt it a good time to ask another question. "If you don't mind me asking, what made you want to create the Celestial Ascendants?"

Jonathan stood, shifting his weight from side to side. She seemed to be a bit happier as she realized how important her role was. I seriously think she was good for nothing, but I may be wrong He thought to himself. Jonathan looked ahead of the girl and seen a few more peoples watching in the darkness. He eyed them before returning his attention back to the woman who seemed quite interested. She seemed quite happy for the fact of finding materials. But not so happy about taking on mobs. Jonathan smiled and said, Don't worry about the mobs. I am a tank and can gather attention, AS for fighting mobs, It is the fastest way for a scout to gain col and materials as they have better luck. So it is quite important, as long as you get the last hit. Jonathan smiled as the woman suggested a cave. I believe I know the perfect "Cave". The cavern of mist would be perfect as long as they did not go too deep. Jonathan stared off into the sky, until he heard her voice again. Reason I made the guild? I would definitely say to bring up players in level to reduce the risk of dying, and to be able to eventually help move along the game. For personal reasons, I want to be remembered for something good....

"I never really considered killing mobs for materials.." She'd always figured that gathering resources by hand to be faster - then again, she avoided fighting like it was the plague in most situations. She gave an understanding nod, making a mental note of each point Jonathon explained.

"Hey, you do you. Nobody can fault you for wanting to create a legacy, I'm happy to be a little part of it." Truth be told, she wasn't interested in most people's personal agendas. If somebody has a goal in mind and it doesn't affect her negatively, she'll probably avoid getting involved. However, she found it noble how Jonathon wanted to train weaker players to become stronger. That was a philosophy she could happily follow.

She looked to Jonathon, her smile unwavering. "Should we get moving?" she asked, "This rain's nice and all but you're not the one standing around in drenched cloth clothing."

Sorry for the delay!

Jonathan listened as the woman seemed to happy to be a part of the legacy that he was creating. Am I creating a legacy? Hikoru that one was talking about maybe making it the next Azure Brigade. They were a legacy. Sadly they died down. Jonathan looked down at the smiling girl who asked if they could get started so they could get out of the rain. Her attire was drenched and her hair flattened down. Jonathan laughed and began to walk forward. Luckily they would be fighting a mob in a cave, sadly they had to search for materials out in the rain. As they finally arrived at the plains, he looked to the girl. This is where we will be starting our training. We will start to search for materials. I believe five should be enough between the both of us, saying as I am very unlucky and can't ever manage to find anything. So don't think it will be too quick unless you are really good at it. Jonathan stood, allowing his member to make the first search.

@Morgenstern No worries!

Relief washed through Birdie's system as Jonathon took the first steps towards the cave, though she was disheartened to find out they'd be searching for materials out in the open. "Five materials?" she asked, "This shouldn't take too long at all!" She was woefully optimistic, partly due to the fact that she was trying to prevent the rain from getting her down. Thankfully the plains were home to vast types of materials, and given they weren't searching for anything in specific, she had all the more confidence in her abilities to get the job done.

Birdie began her search, first simply examining the environment around them. "So, you're a tank-oriented player?" Her eyes strayed from searching for a moment to glance to the guild leader, "Why'd you chose that path over the others?" She didn't intend to sound nosy, rather the girl was curious to learn more about the guild she was applying for.

Jonathan watched as the woman searched for stuff, but found nothing. Jonathan shrugged. He could never find anything to save his life. Even if he really wanted to. He began to search around, but looked up as he heard Birdie ask another question. Hmm, she must be quite intelligent with all of the questions she asks. That head of hers is probably full of information. Jonathan thought for a second of why he picked Tank. Well, that one is a little harder. I didn't actually plan to be a tank at first. I wanted to be a damage dealer. But with the quick changes in myself, the cause of many things going on, I believe I have changed for the better. I used to only care for myself. I need to get myself out of this game was my mind set. Now I am more protective of other players, I really don't have an answer but that might explain it. Jonthan began to search around for some materials. He needed to help as well.

"You used to be damage oriented?" she spoke curiously, pleasantly surprised by the revelation. "Huh, that's actually.. kind of amazing that you've adjusted with that mindset. Rather than carrying yourself out of the game, you'll protect those that do wish to do so.." The girl's talk was more akin to rambling, and as she failed to scope out any materials in the area she stood, she began to walk around a little to mobilise her search.

"I thought about being a tank at first but.. the fear of messing up kinda got to me, I guess." She wouldn't be able to handle the stress of having somebody fall because she failed to shield them from harm. This trail of thought led her to ponder the other members of the guild, and as she leant down to inspect a patch of cotton, she asked Jonathon a question. "So, sorry if this seems like I'm being nosy here - what are the other members of the guild like? The uh.. are they called Paladins?" She looked up to him, hoping she'd gotten the name right.

Jonathan searched around for some materials. This was the hardest thing in the game for him at the moment. Scout builds were perfect for finding these such items. Jonathan needed them so he could continue his shop's progress that he had not been working in for the last month at least. He was too busy training or working with the guild. He also needed money for a few things. Guild Base, House and a Unique skill were all on his to do list. He looked over to Birdie. She had not seemed to have found anything either. Jonathan sighed and then heard her speak. "I thought about being a tank at first but.. the fear of messing up kinda got to me, I guess." Jonathan thought for a second before replying "The idea of somebody I am protecting perishing his quite scary. But that is the reason I continue to level up, increase my skills. So I am better at preventing that from happening. Jonathan began to search again for stuff. Jonathan sighed as he found nothing once again. He looked to his ally as his friend spoke again. The other Paladin's? They are all nice and friendly. Some of us can be a bit harsh at times but it is because we are stressed. I would love for you to make your own opinion about them. You will meet them eventually.

Much to her chagrin, the bluenette hadn't found a single material since the search began. Along the bushes, in the grass, under a rock - nothing seemed to be turning up for the girl as her luck seemed to tank at an all-time low. She would've been half inclined to give up if it weren't for the company that Jonathon provided, as well as the fact that she they needed to collect five to complete the first part of her initiation.

"I'll look forward to meeting them then, they seem like wonderful people." Although the rain cast a dark shadow across the land, she could still make out Jonathon's shape nearby. "Materials don't seem to be turning up around here... should we cover some ground? Apple trees usually drop a fair amount when I check up on them." Although food materials weren't ideal, they were still just as hard to find.

Intrigue washed over the girl as Jonathon stated she'd meet the Paladins. "Will there be any guild meetups? I know there's no guild hall yet, so I'm just wondering if you guys run events for everyone to meet each other?"

Jonathan kept searching the ground, for any glints or suspicious objects. Perhaps they had just picked a bad area. Then she spoke about the low amount of materials found as well. Jonathan nodded his head and replied, "I believe apple trees would be great. Or even perhaps by a stream. Nothing here seemed to be showing up. Jonathan looked at his friend before moving in the direction of the nearest trees. And apples. Upon arrival he looked back at his partner and said, "Any other questions perhaps?" He watched as the gears seemed to be turning, and she asked him if there would be guild meetups. Jonathan stood in silence for a second and said, "Yes. We will eventually have guild meetings to relay decided information to the apprentices and Sentinels. We also will have guild training sessions and occasionally events like tournaments. It would all have to be decided, and before we do anything we need to get all of the initiates initiated. Jonathan returned to searching. Materials would probably be on the outskirts of the tree or at the base. He searched bu found nothing by the first tree.

"Oh! A stream wouldn't be a bad idea either, there should be a lot of clay deposits to gather materials from in this rain." That was if they could even get close to the riverbanks, though she didn't think to mention that part. The rain didn't seem to be a complete downpour, so there was probably no need to worry about an overflowing stream in the first place.

"I see, sorry if I'm holding that up then," she apologised, running a hand up and down her nape. Scanning through the first tree she saw, nothing seemed to be present- all the apples were either underdeveloped or rotten. "Bad luck so far.."

She continued onto the next tree, spinning around the trunk of it in order to scope out any materials. "I'll look forward to the tournaments though, it might not be so bad to have some friendly duels with no hard feelings attached. Well, at least, I wouldn't hold hard feelings for my opponent.." A question popped into her mind and straight through her mouth, "What are the other initiates like? Are there many other low levels like me?"

Jonathan thought curse words as he kept searching. Perhaps if he knew they were going to most likely be scout builds he would give the job to someone else. This looking for materials business was impossible. Birdie had not even found anything and she had actually had the skills to do. Meaning both of them were having terrible luck at the moment. I am seriously about to say we found mats when we didn't, luck is not on our side today eh? Jonathan searched the stream and noticed the wind pick up and blow around his golden hair. I really need to get an item that enhances loot dice for this occasion. After a large amount of searching and finding ROCKS later, Jonathan sighed and stood, giving up. This was damn near impossible. Then he heard Birdie ask another question. The other Initiates. We only have a few at the moment but there area few, one is my level the rest are around you I believe.... Jonathan sighed before looking down the stream.

"We're not getting very lucky today, no. I-I'm sorry, I don't know what's going on... this usually doesn't turn out this way!" Birdie vented her frustration by apologising to Jonathon, their fruitless efforts to find even a single material starting to weaken her resolve. The rain didn't help, spreading a darkness over the land that made their search harder than it ought to be.

Birdie upturned a curious eyebrow as he mentioned the initiates around her level, though the look was quickly vanquished as she caught his sorrowful expression. 'Guess he was hoping to get some members around his own level,' she thought, abandoning the search momentarily as she walked closer to the stream. "Good to know there are still low levels like me hanging around,"

"This is so embarrassing.. a scout that can't even find one stupid item after five minutes. This doesn't effect my performance rating does it?" she laughed quietly, hoping to brighten the mood a little.

Jonathan stood from looking for materials. The storm seemed to be parting a bit which was luck in his eyes. The storm had been a bit annoying, ocassionally dropping droplets here and there. He turned to Birdie and examined her. She seemed to be trying to brighten the mood, and So Jonathan smiled. He had very good fake smiles, but Birdie might one of those people who could just tell. He looked back down, resuming his work. Why does the game hate me? Jonathan searched on the river bank. After a few minutes of seeing nothing he thought there might be something underneath. He dug his hands into the sand, but found nothing. Well, Kayaba just has something against today and us huh. If we find nothing for a few, well just do a quick battle and call it there. You can't beat the unbeatable. Jonathan left it at that. Itzal would not know that they technically never finished her initiation. Anyway, Itzal would probably end up taking her to do it anyway. Itzal knew Jonathan and his luck better than anyone.

Birdie moved her eyes towards Jonathon, acknowledging his suggestion with a nod and a silent sigh. The day really hadn't gone to plan- she imagined they'd be able to plough through the gathering part of the initiation and moved swiftly on to the combat, though at the rate they were finding materials, it seemed like they'd have to skip that first step.

That was until Birdie caught the glint of something in the river; a small reflection of light that struck her eyes. She crouched down by the riverside and reached her hands into the water, grabbing a small ruby gem. "Hey, it's not all bad, at least we found one material." She shook the water from her hands and held the item in her palm, showing it to Jonathon briefly.

"But uh, yeah, let's move onto combat. Another five minutes in this rain and I think hypothermia will start to settle in.." She sighed lowly, but her smile brightened up shortly after.
