[SP-F1] Reunion and Col Gathering

Recommended Posts

Itzal crouched on a branch yet again, overlooking the vast forest of the first floor.  However this time there was a difference.  This time, a purple dragon just under the size of a large dog was also there with him.  Her appearance was exactly the same as before she was killed save for the size change and the blue horns.  She didn't remember him but that was fine.  It just allowed them to get to know each other all over again.  He scanned the ground as group of lizard men with swords were beginning to walk through the forest path, their heads turning everywhere, looking for something.  Itzal knew they were looking for players to hunt.  However he would be the hunter today.  He made his way across the branches, keeping out of their hearing range.  Velnia glided through the branches silently behind him.  They were leveled but of course they would have no mitigation and their damage would be minimum.  He prepared to launch himself at the four.  As he prepared Velnia prepared herself for battle as well.  Her horns became translucent, filled with electricity.  Her eyes also became blue and seemingly filled with lightning.  When Itzal leaped from the branch, his sword glowed as he charged his sword art, and Velnia also flew straight down beside him.  One of the Lizard humanoids looked up but before he could react, Velnia shot a tiny volt of electricity at him, causing him to flinch.  Itzal landed, striking all monsters with Shadow Explosion as he did so, dealing decent damage and landing bleed.  He backflipped.  Well.  He had their attention now.

Before the monsters had a chance to react he paused and closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and then opened them.  He moved with lightning speed, deflecting the monster's blades while Velnia struck at them afterwards.  He was beginning to charge his sword art and Velnia spotted this.  So right before he activated it she shot a bolt of lightning at the four, dropping their health before his own sword art struck and dropped it even faster.  They charged to attack but flinched from the bleed effect and allowed Itzal to simply dodge them and began to deflect their attacks, weaving himself through them and bouncing all their attacks back at them or to the side.  The funny thing was:  he was going easy on these guys right now.  He just wanted to get this over with and find a worthy foe for once.

Foregoing Action

The four Lizard humanoids were pissed that they had been damaged twice and hadn't landed a hit on this player.  Then they had an idea.  The four of them continued to advance until they had surrounded him completely, and without enough room for him to jump over.  After that they all lashed out at him, dealing as much damage as possible.  When in fact they were missing him each time, even with the enclosed space.  They were too crowded to realize that he had ducked down and was now just sitting there, crouching, while they clashed swords against each other thinking it was Itzal blocking them.  Velnia paused as she couldn't see Itzal, then looked under the legs.  Itzal waved at her and Velnia had to hold back a laugh.  Itzal shrugged and wondered how long it would take for those stupid mobs to notice they weren't hitting anything.

Within a few moments the lizards realized what was going on.  They all took a step back to spot him and when they did Itzal rolled underneath one of them whose legs were spread out, and pulled out his sword again.  As he rose to his feet, Velnia shot his sword with her electricity and although it was week, it gave it a rather cool effect.  He rushed at the four Lizard men and released Shadow Explosion again, dealing good damage and landing the bleeding effect at the same time.  Once he finished lock picking he would work on Velnia's rank so he could get a stronger weapon as well as have her deal more damage for the two of them.  After that he would need to unlock rank three in martial arts so he could use his strongest sword art...  But before that he'd unlock night vision and tracking.  Then unlock martial arts and finally get to work on sneak and hide.  Hopefully it wouldn't take as long as he thought it would.

Itzal leaped and twisted through the air to avoid the four humanoid lizard's attacks and when they charged him again he weaved his way around their blades, easily evading each weapon and then released Shadow Explosion, striking them all over again and landing another bit of decent damage.  Once those skills were obtained he really needed to max out ferocity and light armor.  With those mods, he should have...  Six extra damage excluding Velnia and status damage.  With it he should be able to deal decent damage to all monsters from then on.  The lizard humanoids didn't know what he was thinking of course, and didn't care.  All they cared about was the fact that they were getting beat up badly and dealing little to no damage to this guy.  They sped up their attack, striking faster, harder, trying to pierce his defenses, but everything they tried he countered and deflected.

The lizard humanoids continued to strike at him relentlessly, never stopping their assault, trying so very desperately to get past his elusive defenses.  However their movements were slow and uncoordinated.  Itzal was able to avoid a hit very easily.  In fact it was becoming boring.  Velnia even flew away from the fight just to watch the monsters fail their attempts.  Itzal wondered how long he should continue to solo monsters.  When he became stronger this would be cake of course....  But it was becoming harder to fight these things.  With their increasing health and his lack of damage increase, there would be no way he could keep this up.  Thus this might be his last solo fight until he could work up his damage.  Dang it he thought to himself.  However nothing could be helped.  Once he'd finished with lock picking he could work on Velnia's damage output, but until then he would soon be at the point where he'd run out of energy before defeating a mob.  He released shadow explosion and after the attack he noted that yes, he'd have one last attack he could pull on the monsters before he was out of energy.

Foregoing Action - Changing gear:  -3 evasion, +3 LD

Itzal panted, tired and exhausted, nearly out of energy, he needed to pause combat for a moment.  The lizard humanoids charged him yet again but he didn't lift his sword.  He could easily survive a few strikes from them and he needed to rest and recharge.  While the lizard humanoids came at him he looked for any weakness, any opening he could exploit or charge against.  However action would need to wait.  For now Velnia covered for him, charging at the nearest one's face and causing it to veer to the right, blocking two of the other lizard humanoids, then she bit the tail of the fourth.  Now that she'd pissed them off they all started swinging their blades in the air at Velnia, but failed miserably at hitting her.  Itzal squatted down and rested his arms on his legs, watching the scene go on.  It was like kids trying to catch a bug with a net, thinking they were so close when in fact they were so far away.  While waiting he went ahead and switched to his Twilight Cloak for better gear.

At the change of his gear the Lizard men noticed him once again, and also noticed that his armor was different.  Infuriated they changed targets.  Itzal gripped his sword and stood up straight.  When his four opponents charged he didn't move, allowing the three to hack through him and his pitiful defenses, but at this level his health would be a fortress against their attacks.  After their weak attacks were over he charged his sword art Vertical Square, then charged the three lizards, striking them all with the attack, finishing off the last of their health and causing them to shatter into millions of pieces.  With the battle over with he sheathed his sword and Velnia landed on Itzal's shoulder, causing him to smile.  He checked the loot menu and was pleased to see that he had received twenty thousand col and...  A rare item.  Sweet he thought.  That fight was worth it then.  He stored the item to examine it further at a later time.

Itzal needed to rest a moment so he sat down on a large rock, Velnia sitting beside him.  He looked at the item he had just received:  A pair of earrings that looked like a cross.  He selected them and checked their enhancements:  Plus two accuracy eh?  Nodding he placed it into his inventory and gave out a sigh.  So the fights were worth it.  Twenty thousand col.  If he got another twenty thousand then that would be forty thousand.  And so forth and so forth.  He might be able to keep this up long enough to find a chest...  Maybe.  He sighed and stretched his legs.  It would definitely do him good to find a chest, especially since he now had the dismantling mod, which would make unlocking the chests easier.  He spotted four large lizard scales and picked them up.  Extra MAT's from the lizard humanoids?  Either way they were materials and he put them in his inventory.

He looked up at the sky as he continued to rest on the rock.  Normally items such as lock picks would be used to make lock picking easier, or usable.  Maybe since cardinal added chests, it might add in lock picks in the future as well.  For now of course he just had to max out his lock picking skills.  Then he thought to himself:  What sort of skills should he go for after this?  He listed what he had currently:  One handed straight sword:  essential.  Light armor:  essential.  Search and Detect:  Essential.  Gatherer:  Essential.  Picking:  Essential.  Sneak and hide:  not exactly essential per cay but he felt it would help his scouting abilities as well as damage once he got it's mod.  That added up to six skills.  If he wasn't wrong, there were around twelve skills which gave him six openings.  He leaned over after spotting four crystals in the dirt and dug them out, adding them to his inventory.

Skills he was interested in getting were energist, the slots skill, battle healing, and possibly others at some point.  However he intended to max out the skills he already had before getting any more.  After finishing with lock picking, he would be getting the last two mods for search and detect, which would be about twenty four more sp.  After those he would max out light armor to get that last evasion bit, and finally he would maximize sneak and hide.  After that he'd get the more slots, battle healing, and then energist...  Possibly.  Velnia crawled up his arm and onto his shoulder, causing him to chuckle and look around.  There were a few more crystals buried by some trees so he got up and moved over, pulled them out and inserted them into his inventory.  With that over with, and his break, he was ready to take on more monsters.  He scanned the area and his eyes fell on four goblins.  As he analyzed them he switched back to his Niger Natio.

Itzal summarized the four goblins:  Three had a shield, two had an ax, one had a mace and one had a dagger.  The four were wandering around, seemingly looking for someone to target, when they spotted him.  The four roared.  Itzal was wondering what lizard men and goblins were doing wandering around so much?  Was it because players were taking down boar and wolves with ease now and they were becoming the new force?  Or was this temporary?  Or specifically because he was a higher level in a low floor?  Either way he brandished his blade, and charged the four.  The goblins gave a battle cry and tried to land a strike but each of them struck air as Itzal dodged each attack individually and released Shadow Explosion, striking all of them but not enough for bleed to land.

The attack surprised the goblins.  They had never been hit before hitting before.  It had always been vice versa.  This new change infuriated them.  They charged recklessly at Itzal and swung their weapons blindly.  In fact, to Itzal they seemed slow and he dodged them with no issues at all.  When they exhausted themselves he released Shadow Explosion again, dealing a critical attack as well as landing the bleeding effect along with the damage.  Itzal smiled and backflipped high in the air so that Velnia had room to swoop in, shoot a volt at the four, causing them to get knocked back.  Itzal landed softly and Velnia landed on his shoulder.  He smiled at her.  "Well this is running smoothly so far.  Although I might want to save my energy just in case."  Velnia nodded and turned to the goblins who were beginning to get up again.

Itzal watched as the four Goblins stumbled to their feet, tried to (dizzyingly) charge him again but each tripped over a root, from dizzyness or each other, and fell onto their faces.  Itzal raised both eyebrows and turned to Velnia.  Her face pretty much said it.  'Just do it.'  Itzal nodded and charged at the four, his sword glowing again.  By the looks on their expressions they were either shocked or furious to see another attack so soon and tried to get up, but Itzal cut clean through them all like lightning, followed by an actual volt from behind, dealing a hyper critical.  The goblins roared and charged Itzal but were once again evaded expertly.  Itzal leaped backwards, deciding to definitely take a breather as the bleed did it's work.  He hoped this didn't go on for too too long.  He thought about the chest though and decided it would be worth it.

The goblins let out a roar as they had had it with this guy and charged at him, slashing their weapons furiously and hacking through him ruthlessly.  The damage of course, even though it was a hyper critical, was pathetic on this floor, thank God for that.  As a scout this was really the only way he could grind and without MIT and with low damage he was able to take on these suckers.  He charged his sword art and when he released it, Velnia shot a volt at the four at the same time Shadow Explosion was released, dealing a critical hit and would have landed the bleeding effect had it not already been there.  With bleed in effect this would be much faster.  He leaped backward as the goblins swung their weapons wildly as a reaction to their getting counter attacked.  They glared at him and roared with hatred when they saw that he was barely effected from their attack.

The goblins charged with another war cry, aiming to take down Itzal in any way they could.  They were close to death now and would be deadly close in a second or two.  Itzal evaded all of their attacks, parrying and deflecting them in a way that knocked them into each other or their weapon buried into the ground.  Velnia scratched at the faces of those who tried sneaking up from behind, her screeching alerting him to an oncoming attack.  After successfully avoiding all attacks Itzal charged and released Shadow Explosion, dealing another massive amount of damage and landing the bleed effect.  After doing so he leaped out of the way while they freaked out and yelled at him.  One more small sword art and they would be finished off.  Not much longer.  Velnia flew beside him, her spikes electrified from her focused mind.

Foregoing Action/switching gear from Niger Natio to Twilight cloak <-3 evasion, +3 LD (+8 total)

With their health having dropped so low the goblins had grown tired of this game.  Through with being tormented by these two, the goblins charged Itzal and Velnia post haste, their weapons swinging not wildly as before, but precise and aiming to both harm and separate Itzal and his dragon.  Itzal was about to rush over to help Velnia when two of the goblins charged him in a manner that prevented him from striking back.  One struck with swiftness, then the one behind it charged forward and dealt a fast blow itself, quickly followed with another strike from it's partner.  It was similar to Soul Barrage save for it was two moving fast to duplicate it's effects...  Itzal wondered how Soul Barrage would work if two were using it on one...  Itzal didn't use his sword, rather he moved and twisted his body ever so slightly to avoid their strikes.  While he did he opened his battle menu and switched to his Twilight Cloak.  Meanwhile Velnia was attempting to strike the goblins who were expertly evading her attacks.  They all flinched as bleed dealt it's first blow.

Foregoing Action.

With their time almost up thanks to the bleed effect, Itzal stopped his moving and let the goblins strike.  Because they were expecting a moving target, their weapons missed.  They stumbled forward, shocked that they had hit air, when the final bleed kicked in again, finishing off the last of their health.  The two goblins roared in pain before shattering into crystals.  The monsters fighting against Velnia turned and roared in anger against Itzal, beginning to charge when their bleed kicked in as well, shattering them soon after.  The loot menu popped up and while it wasn't as much as last time, it was still plenty.  He stored it in his inventory for the guild donation later and looked up to Velnia.  "How about we wrap this up shall we?  We can go hunting at a later time."  Velnia nodded and the electricity in her spikes died down to nothing.  The two made their way back to the teleporter.

On the way there Itzal wondered about a few things:  The guild hall, and a future home.  What did he want personally for both subjects?  Itzal wasn't a proud man and believed pride and arrogance to be a very dangerous path.  That's one of the main reasons he disliked the KoB.  And thus he did not want a guild hall that was huge and flashy, showing off much more than he'd rather have.  For a guild hall he'd want something of medium size.  Understandably sized rooms, only as big as they needed to be.  Not too many decorations and such, but enough to give it an elegant look.  Definitely not dimly lit, but not lights everywhere either.  As for color he wasn't quite sure.  Not something flashy like the KoB's, but not all out dark colors as well.  He also wanted to have a section built that held small rooms that could hold players who needed someplace to stay until they got back up on their feet.  Itzal felt like that would be aiming towards their goal of helping other players.

As for his house, that was simple.  He'd want two stories with a bedroom, guest room, kitchen, living room, dining room, and a storeroom.  He saw there was an option for a fireplace, shower and a bed that could give special enhancements such as a bonus CD.  He smiled as he thought of his home.  For now however he'd stay in his shop.  He should probably work on his profession a little more, try to get some more experience, but then he realized he'd be getting nowhere.  Nobody bought his items and thus they just sat there unused.  Especially the good quality songs.  Because apparently nobody enjoyed music anymore.  He sighed as they reached the town.  This floor was the first one in all of Aincrad.  The first floor crafted, the first floor designed, the first floor tested.  And the floor where the announcement occurred.  With that announcement came fear and terror.  Itzal wanted people to have hope.  Hopefully he could give them some.
