[PP-F5] Chill in the Desert <<The Traveler>>

Recommended Posts

"Correct. This should hold up for now anyways. Let's get some shut eye for now anyways." He would tell her as he then entered inside of the large tent, everything being set up thanks to the beautiful game codes. Placing his right hand out with an extended pointer finger, he'd flick downwards and open the inventory, taking off his armor and placing his weapon back, revealing his usual hoodie and acid blue jeans. It was what he was going to have to sleep in, since he did not plan to change while there was a guest. The sleeping bag to the right would be the one he chose to sleep in. "Once you get inside, close the zipper. It should be able to close from the inside. That should seal the sand from entering the inside." With that comment out of the way, he would place himself inside of the sleeping bag, turning his body to the side so that he would be looking towards the edge. "Good work... By the way."

Kooh allowed herself another frown once Sey disappeared inside the tent. Sure, they had been living in the same building for a while now, but this was just weird. She couldn't remember the last time she slept in the same room with someone, so sharing a tent with a near-stranger sounded detestable. As the sun was already set, the idea of staying outside much longer sounded almost as unpleasant, so she soon slipped inside herself. The blonde remained pretty quiet, not feeling much atmosphere for their usually back-and-forth comments, and instead followed his instruction to pull up the zipper to seal their little shelter.

It was weird. Camping in the desert, in the middle of an artificial fantasy world, with another person's consciousness. Now she had another reason to dislike this quest--it was making her think too much. Sey had already gotten ready to sleep, so the girl did the same. Pulling at the elastic holding her hair back, the object silently dematerialized  into several tiny shards of light. She got into her own sleeping bag, turning herself away so she faced the side of the tent as well. Kooh blinked when the snowy-haired boy praised her, unsure of how to react. When too much time had passed, she finally decided to keep quiet and focus her efforts on trying to sleep.

In what felt to be a few seconds, Sey woke up once again from the slumber he had. Blinking his eyes open, he would turn his body around to notice a second being in the tent with him with ginger hair. Before he panicked, he just remembered who she was and why she was there, and so he would then hold his peace. Was she still sleeping, or not? Regardless, it was time to investigate a bit further. So he would not even try to wake her up, regardless if he thought she were awake or not. Careful to zip open the tent quietly, he would then proceed to step outside, only to find an HUD screen appear followed by an arrow pointing downwards. When his eyes navigated, he found wooden crates buried in the sand. The HUD screen told him that the quest had been complete... Sweet! So with this, he would place the crates in his inventory and look back to see how Kooh was, wanting to see if she were actually awake already. If not, he probably should go and wake her up.

Kooh stirred not long after Sey, rubbing at her eyes as if to rub away the miserable feeling of grogginess. She wanted to grumble and complain, but the realization that she might be heard kept her quiet. When she felt her face looked presentable, the girl sat up and twisted her body only to spot the empty sleeping bag beside her. She really shouldn't be surprised that the boy was up before her.

It was only a moment before Sey appeared again, checking in on her. The girl ruffled her hair, suddenly grateful that the game never seemed to replicate bedhead. "Well good morning, starshine." The girl spoke with a usual sarcasm. "Any good news out there?"

Sarcastic as ever, he loved that about her. And of course, he had to one-up her in some sort of way. Turning around to face her, he would reply with an equal amount of sarcasm. "Nope, bad news. I found cargo, which is sad. I know how much you love the desert. Wanna stay around a little longer?" He asked her with a smile on his face before then waiting for her to exit the tent, and they they could depart from there. Goldielocks was very well known for being lazy, but the quest had been done. If she was not going to go claim her rewards, then the night they spent out in the desert would have been all for nothing, and he figured that she probably did not want that. "The sand won't bother you anymore if we get out of the desert and turn it in... Nor will any environment." Addressing the survival skill to show that it was much better to not sustain the damage that the outside world provided.

"Har har." Kooh smirked at his teasing, running a hand through her hair once more before she picked herself up and slipped outside of the tent. Despite the heat from the now fully-risen sun, the grains of sand that whipped around in the air had her quickly pulling up her hood. "As much as I love walking around in an oven, I'll have to pass." The girl slipped her hands into her pockets and let out a small sigh as the morning was hitting her full force. Sure, it wasn't so bad being awake at a decent hour--they'd arrive in town with plenty of time left in the day. Still, she wasn't planning on setting up residence on the fifth floor. "Ehh, I hope you're right. If just a skill can make this place less miserable I'll be amazed." Kooh gave a shrug of her shoulders, following Sey's lead as she expected he knew the way back to town.

"Oh don't worry. Once you get it, not even a grain of sand will hurt again."He would explain as he would place his hands behind the back of his head, watching as the sand headed for him would move directly around him as they were unable to touch him. It was definitely worth it the first time around. He helped someone get it the second time, and then the third time was this time. Kooh probably was not realizing how crucial it was now, but it will definitely be shown later on if they ever returned. Chances were, the ginger would not like to make a return. But things happen, and there were more quests here. If she ever did have any ambition to help herself, she might have to revisit. Eventually, he would make his way to the town, the lady waiting for them at the edge of it. "We have brought you the cargo materials." With this, he would place the cargo from his inventory out in the open for her to collect.

Kooh smirked at Sey's reassurance. She only hoped that he was right, and this trip was worth it. She didn't want to admit it to herself, but maybe doing something miserable every once in a while was a nice change of pace every once in a while--at least it kept her from getting incredibly bored while she stared at the ceiling at home. Speaking of home... 'Maybe I should ask him about setting that up.' The blonde thought vaguely. The two discussed Kooh's profession way back when, but she had yet to actually do anything with it. Maybe it was about time she gave it a shot.

They returned to town after quite some time, but the trip back was very peaceful compared to their encounter the day before. Sey dropped off the cargo to the NPC woman who had issued them the quest, and the two players received a notification of the completion and their rewards. Kooh scanned over the text briefly before dismissing the message. At least that was over and done with.
