[PP-F3] The bull meets the hunters <<Search for the Hoya>>

Recommended Posts

He watches as the player move rather gracefully having dodged one attack with excellent flourish, but failed to calculate accurately the second attack as he watches his companion get hit with an attack that lowers the HP bar to some small extent. With the defeat of the monsters he gets up once more with a small chuckle. You forget Pinball we have to go deeper into this labyrinth their is a prize in the center of the maze that we have to pick up for the quest to recognize we are done. Also, keep in mind the dungeon is ever changing so it can be a bit difficult to try and find the item if the dungeon manages to shift ever so slightly to make it more difficult. He says in a rather calm tone of voice as his familiar Vereox the fire liger also just stands by its owner side looking around the dungeon while being ablaze with fire to keep the area lit up with light.

The boy groaned. In his excitement, he had forgotten about the predicament they were in. They were trapped in this endlessly changing labyrinth, without any solid idea to get out. On top of that, they still haven't even gotten the item they were supposed to, apparently. Pinball had thought they just had to kill the minotaurs, but that's just what the poor lad got for not researching the quest before undertaking it. It had been a spur of the moment thing, of course, but he still could have tried contacting his info broker about it on the way here. "Damn it," was all he murmured, shoving a hand in his pocket. He would have to follow Mars as they wandered the labyrinth. After all, his familiar was the one providing them with the light. "Lead the way, I guess," he grumbled, moving to the side to give Mars room to pass. He wondered how long they would be stuck here. He wondered how long it would take them to be able to finally go fishing again. Pinball liked fishing.

he nods his head at hearing Pinball to tell him to lead the way which makes sense, and with that he quickly does just that quickly making his way through the maze slowly and carefully alongside his familiar hoping to find the item that the quest says the minotaur was guarding from players for one reason or the other. he traverses the maze traveling through the ever roaming halves of the maze, and after what feels like a good bit of time they end up right where they started with the marks along in the ground showing the marks of the minotaur having cleaved through the ground with their axes. he sighs softly in annoyance at this fact, but he can't be that frustrated since he did predict this was a possible outcome when he had begun traversing this maze that walking in circles can happen.

Pinball followed Mars and the light of his familiar, his fingers brushing along the cool stone walls of the maze. "A bit different from a corn maze, isn't it?" He chuckled nervously, the thought of being trapped in the maze forever scaring him a bit. It wasn't as if he could starve, but not eating would leave a player severely uncomfortable. Ironically, Pinball, being a cook, had packed no food items. He shivered, imagining being lost in the maze, a prisoner to the game's hunger until the final floor was reached. It was hell. Pinball jogged up a bit closer to Mars, staying close. Every turn he would look left and right, though he didn't dare leave Mars' side for fear of getting lost. Sadly, the fisherman could barely see without the light of the liger, and even then, it wasn't as if he could see around corners. It was just a matter of how lucky they got. "So, uhh," Pinball mumbled, trying to make the trip a bit easier, "how about that highly anticipated sports match last night, eh?"

He walks through the dungeon at a slow and steady pace not minding the time it could take to find the item since he is well prepared for a multi day journey within this maze be it from sundown to sunrise, or weeks. Mars having packed a good plentiful amount of food within his inventory since living comfortably is always a nice bonus to have when trying to live truly like a king. He glances around the maze able to see some sort of writing along the walls that are most likely ancient greek in nature, but he doesn't take much time to study or even identify them figuring it would be a waste of his valuable time in trying to read what this says. Especially since he doesn't even know greek to begin with. Upon hearing Pinball's comment however he just rolls his eyes and looks back at him. His face being shadowed from the shadow going across his face from the fact of his hood being up. Pinball we're in SAO there are no sports.

Pinball laughed. "Right, right, of course," he mumbled, following Mars through the seemingly endless maze. As they reached an intersection of sorts, he glanced to the right, only to find a faint glowing coming around the corner. "Mars, look! Is this a way out?" He rushed over, turning the corner, not sparing a look back. He poked his head out around the corner to announce his findings. "Nah, just some stupid horn - wait." He looked back at the rather fancy looking horn resting on the stone pedestal. "Mars, is this what we're looking for?" He didn't dare approach the pedestal for fear of traps. What Pinball had taken for another long path had actually turned out to open into what was almost a huge room; the center of the maze. Pinball looked around. There were statues of intricate stone minotaurs lined up in a straight row, leading to the pedestal. Directly behind the magnificent horn sat a fierce looking creature. Its race was definitely minotaur, but something about the way its eyes look, the way its horns twisted, and the impressive muscle mass put Pinball off a bit. What bothered him most was the crown that rested on the statue's horned head. There was a single, red ruby inlaid in the center of the stone crown, greatly contrasting with the otherwise bland colouring of the statues. A greatsword rested on the lap of the fine creature, accentuating the threatening aura of the room. More over, there were suspicious circular openings on the walls in between each statue. "This is definitely a trap," Pinball said simply.

He walks alongside his companion and then hears his companion thinking he had found the object as he looks into the room with curiosity looking at all the statues inspecting every single statue trying to figure out where these came from. Having heard that their use to be a event boss that was a bull/minotaur like creature which makes him curious if this room is somehow created in reference to that if it took place on this floor. We're looking for a Pendant supposedly Pinball, but if this is what we were meant to find that means that whatever the trap does will somehow spawn the actual Hoya of Menos which is what the item is called. He says calmly to his companion as he walks on over towards the crown that being the thing he is mostly interested in rather then the ruby within the chest of the Minotaur as he glances back to his ally as if asking if he is ready encase this is a trap to spawn the item they are looking for.

Pinball looked from the horn to Mars, his nervousness reaching an ultimatum. He spoke out. "Mars, wait!" Pinball only hoped he had gotten the man's attention. There was always the possibility they were decorations, of course, but Pinball was thoroughly put off by these things.

He pointed to the walls, and the minotaur soldiers that lined them. Each one of the statues held a halberd. He pointed to both sides with both of his arms simultaneously. "Twelve. There are twelve of these. Six on each side," he said, a serious look on his face. He then pointed to the minotaur sitting on the throne. "Then, there's that big one." He had his suspicions about the room, but he couldn't quite place his fingers on the specifics. "I don't see a pendant in here, and I think it's really weird how they placed these two beautiful things in the open." He then jogged over to the wall, sliding his hands along the surface. Small holes dotted them, but it was too dark to see what lay within them. "This is really creepy, too." He then turned his attention back to the artifacts.

The horn was marble in material, carved with a swirling pattern that brought attention to the tendrils of gold that swirled around it. It was beautiful, to be sure, but the fact it lay on a pedestal unnerved the boy. Then, there was the crown. Silver and gold, wrapping around each other in thorn-like design, only to meet at the elegant ruby at the center. The tendrils of silver and gold themselves were carved with mysterious, intricate runes. Some unreadable, fantasy language, the fisherman figured. Pinball felt a bit threatened by the greatsword that lay across the minotaur's lap, however. A King's Pride. He grit his teeth, a bit scared, even though they were on a relatively low floor.

"I just - I don't know the right way out of this," he admitted, shaking his head. Then, he laughed, forcing a smile. "This is pretty spooky. I'm leaving it up to you, man."

If all of these creatures is as weak as the ones you just killed i'm sure we'll be fine. He says as he notices you looking at the horn also, and lets out a small sigh figuring he should let the fisherman have something to his name also. With that he takes both the crown and the horn from the minotaur with a grin upon his face. If this is a trap then we'll be getting out of it just fine. We're both strong players that can hold our own if need be. He says as he hands Pinball the horn as he himself puts on the crown while backing away from the statues even then. Knowing that this is a trap, but it will at least add something interesting to this quest rather then just boredom. Now come on lets try to escape into the maze before these creatures come out from here. That way we can fight them on our terms rather then in a mass horde style. He tells his companion knowing that even though they can kill all these creatures if they just get a luck turn of hits upon the two of them it could be game over, and he himself prefers living over many things. Having said this slightly contradictory line in hopes of first instilling hope into his comrade that not all is lost with the first bit, and then with this line show he isn't a idiot and knows when to back away from a fight. His familiar however glows with a fiery light and a low growl until Mars just gives it a glare which makes the Liger dim its fire and then move back closer towards the maze rather then being in the room.  'Wait if this is meant to be a trap. Wouldn't that mean they would lock the exits.' He thinks a little bit to late as he quickly checks the exit towards the room.

Pinball watched stupidly as Mars grabbed both of the items, his mouth hanging open. "Wha-" was all he managed to say. Just then, a low, guttural growl filled the room.

"The pact has been broken."

Several things happened at once. The items shattered in their hands (or,  in Mars' case, on his head) with the sound of glass breaking. With the sound of stone scraping against stone, the only exit behind them slammed shut. The Minotaur King moved. It stood, and what was once stone statue was filled with colour. The monster loosed a roar, and its health bars appeared, along with the name "The Hoyan Exalt". Its greatsword became an elegant silver, carved with the same strange runes as the ones on the crown it once wore. Three of the Minotaur statues that lined the walls of the great room came to life as well, though not quite as spectacularly as The Hoyan Exalt. They were the same Hoya Minotaurs that Pinball had been left to fight earlier. Strangely enough, and Pinball's confusion, the remaining Minotaurs stayed in their stony slumber.

But that wasn't all. The holes in the walls were filled with spikes, and the walls slowly started moving towards the center of the room. "What kind of TV trope is that?!" Pinball explained, quite distressed. He raised his spear, panicking. Was this how he died? He grit his teeth, glancing to Mars, wondering how he had taken it.

He watches as the items shatter as he frowns, and feels a bit angered that his prize was taken away from him as he clenches his fist and looks towards the king as it started to move, and without wasting a second decided if he can't wear kingly jewelry he would just kill the king himself. His fists quickly get covered in energy as he charges at the king not even noticing the three minotaurs in the back reactivating ready for combat. Able to hear the mechanical parts beginning to move and start to close in on all sides. His familiar already moves in to tackle the king with a burning body of fire. He jumps up towards the king and starts pelting it with a flurry of blows as the king reacts by maneuvering its sword to take some of the hits, but the force of the impact between fist and metal is felt by the minotaur as it gets pushed back closed towards the walls of the room. Soon after his familiar tackles the king and enacts a large pillar of fire scorching the king slightly lowering its health ever so slightly. Leaving it near half, but not exactly their yet. Well Pinball do your AOE we need some Frozen. he says encase his companion is to overwhelemd to think clearly.

Pinball rushed forward, his heart beating hard in his chest. He stupidly activated his most powerful Sword Art... and only hit one of the Minotaurs. Only one of them had been hit besides the Exalt, and Pinball hadn't even frozen it. "Damn it! Damn it, damn it, damn it!" He cursed, biting his tongue, before getting swatted to the side by one of the three minotaurs. He managed to bounce back on his feet, but his health was a bit lower. The reality of the situation was beginning to catch up with him. He let it sink in. This was a lot more dangerous than he thought. The walls were closing in on them, and he could only imagine what would happen to their bodies if the spikes crushed them. On the other hand, the minotaurs would be dead too, but they themselves would not be able to celebrate. He looked around to Mars, and watched in horror as the Hoyan Exalt swung at the man, the weapon missing. The creature's health bar was getting low, but Pinball didn't know if Mars would be able to blow through it without wasting his energy. "Hey! I'm going to use my lowest AoE! I'll be praying for freeze, and I'll barely be doing any damage, but preserving energy is important. I have a bad feeling about the other statues!"

He looks at the king with a glare for it daring to destroy his prized crown he was going to wear as his proof of being above these mongrels, and having wanted to take the horn so at least Pinball didn't feel totally left out. If anything every king needs a right hand man and at the moment the only thing close to that would be Pinball. When hearing about the lower AOE he frowns, but understands as his fists spike up with energy as he charges the kick once more with a flurry of blows each force cracking the sword of the king till it shatters and the force behind it propelling the enemy towards the spikes within the wall skewering it into pieces as it then pops into nothing. A false king dead, and as a quote goes. "What is a King, to a God." He says with a dark chuckle of amusement as he looks around at the statues as if daring them to try and step up to him now.

Pinball shouted at Mars now. "Yeah, yeah! King and whatever. Help me, damn it!" In an attempt to preserve energy, he launched a weaker Sword Art, Hellish Twice. It wasn't nearly as powerful as Trip Expand, but the energy cost was a bit lower. Sadly for old Pinball, he followed through the system's motions, missing every one of the minotaur besides the last one. He struck the last one and froze it, but not before its two-handed weapon slashed a fresh wound across his torso. He staggered backwards, clutching his chest. Damn it, damn it, damn it, he thought, checking his health bar. If we don't get out of here soon, we're going to run out of energy. And I have a really bad feeling about those nine statues left...

On the pedastal where the horn once rested shone a bright light. An orb lowered from the ceiling, and then there was a flash. A beautiful pendant floated above the stand, nearly distracting Pinball from the fight. Even better for the two - the Minotaur's throne slid to the side with the sickening sound of stone on stone... revealing a staircase! Light shone from the passage. They would have to duck to get through, but that was all and good - it meant the minotaurs can't follow them. "Mars! Grab the pendant and let's get the hell out of here!" This was their chance to get out of here. If Pinball was right, there was a slim chance they made it out of the room without getting crushed. Knowing Mars, he'd either want to stick it out, or he'd cut his losses and take the pendant - the man's personality was still only becoming fully known to the fisherman. The walls drew closer.

He glares at the fisherman for mocking him at the moment he was feeling quite proud of his accomplishment of having slain a king. Even if it was only on floor three of all places killing a king is a nice little bookmark in his list of accomplishments. He glances around at the room at the remaining enemies and nods seeing two of them are fairly low, and sadly for himself so is he in this regards towards his energy. His companion not doing so much better in those regards either. He frowns, but then grins deciding that he could at least kill two of the nine minotaurs while weakening the last. From the way the walls are moving in also they had plenty of time. With such thoughts he gets in position as his body glows with energy once more to begin fighting. Once more he sees his energy drop a good amount as he looks towards the statues waiting for them to move like their brothers. Thinking the death trap would be to easy otherwise. However, a bright light suddenly fills the room as a pendant drops neatly onto the ground. He just chuckles and shakes his head. It's only seven more just stick it out Pinball. We'll only flee if the room starts getting to close for comfort, or if we both manage to run out of energy at the sametime. Otherwise we can recover just fine with what we have. Especially if your sword arts start getting more lucky in terms of you hitting. He says in slight amusement.

Pinball grumbled something about stubborn people, but activated his attack anyways. He wasn't going for pure damage; he was conserving his energy, and praying that freeze activated. He jumped back, giving himself room, and charged the Minotaurs that surrounded Mars. His weapon hit one of them, and a shock wave was sent across the field, hurting the others as well. Its damage was pitiful, and when Pinball faced the monsters again, they now all had their attention on him. "Damn it," he grumbled, running the other way, stopping in front of the pedastal, "I have the worst luck." He hoped Mars would be able to keep dishing out the heavy attacks. If they ran out of energy, Pinball wasn't sure how well off they'd be. As they hesitated to run, the walls only drew closer and closer. He glanced nervously from wall to wall, measuring their distance from the center of the room. They were slow, and Pinball guessed they had quite the amount of time left... but still he worried. They only needed to defeat the king for the pendant, and still Mars fought. Why?

He looks at the Minotaurs, and then glances towards his energy supply. Able to see he has the ability to get one powerful hit as he glances at the room as he sees another Minotaur come alive with a roar of defiance as he just chuckles ever so slightly. His legs ignite with crimson energy as he prepares his sword art as he glances towards Pinball. Now then this will take my energy supply for this encounter to knock out most of them if i get lucky. That means you'll need to distract the last three statues, or four depending on how many survive. He says in a rather nonchalant manner as he jumps towards the enemy and twists his body around faster and faster his leg being like a tornado of swirling death. He only manages to kick tow of the minotaurs into the spikes impaling and killing them. While the other two dodge Mars' strikes with ease. When he lands on the ground he sees two more minotaurs move like slow moving golems back into the realm of the living. he then glances back towards his partner. I may have accidentally overestimated my ability to hit these things. he says in a annoyed tone of voice.

Pinball watched as Mars unleashed his most powerful AoE Sword Art. It was time for Pinball himself to do the same. If they wanted to win this, they would need to get rid of the monsters as quickly as possible. The Fisherman activated his own most powerful AoE, Trip Expand. He winced as his energy bar dropped into near nothingness. He shook his head. They were getting closer to winning, they just had to hold out longer than the monsters. One of the Minotaurs slashed him across the chest, sending him flying across the room. His health chipped away when he landed. A long red gash, complementing the one that was already there was now present. He shook his head, rolling himself onto his feet and jogging back to Mars. Deja vu, he thought. Another one of the statues awakened, and he realized they were attacking in groups of four now, not three. "Mars, another one," he said with a nod in the direction of the monster.

He looks towards the group of enemies and locks onto the one with low health thinking with his strength he can finish it off as he quickly dashes towards the opponent aiming to punch the creature hard with all his might to try and even this fight out as much as it is possible. he then looks at the enemies, and grins seeing no more Minotaurs around except for the four active that are around as he can only figure now would be a decent chance to finish them off. He tightens his fist and charges at the weakened enemy aiming to try and take it out for good to leave only three minotaurs left which would be for the best in the end. he jumps towards the minotaur and punches it hard in the face as it then bursts into crystals dissipating into nothing leaving just the three enemies around them. Three left we're close to ending this. He says with a grin.

There were only four of the minotaurs left. He needed to keep up the fighting, so he activated Sonic Charge, and rushed the group of minotaurs... only hitting one successfully. "Damn it!" the teenager exclaimed, jumping and dodging the monsters' attacks, "what's the point of AoE if I can't AoE?!" He frowned, waiting until the minotaurs finished attacking. Afterwards, he stood besides Mars. One of the monsters was covered in frost, and Pinball grinned. "I got that one frozen up," he pointed with his spear. There were only three of them left, but both of their energy were really low. He wasn't sure how much longer they'd be able to keep it up, though he did know that once they got out, they wouldn't be seperating. They'd be fishing, so it meant more goodies and more experience for the both of them. However, to get to that, they'd have to defeat these monsters - no easy feat if they couldn't hit their opponents.
