[F21 - SP] Draining the Lake, Again <<Nature's Treasure>>

Recommended Posts

It hadn’t been that long since her last trip up here, but Neo was ready and raring to get some more materials for her shop. There was also the chance she could get other things that she wanted of course. What would hopefully help the most is if she could get a weapon to replace the one that she currently had. The weapon that she had now was powerful, but it was bringing a cost on her own sanity. It seemed that every waking moment while near this weapon was becoming more and more extolling, trying to drag her down to some level. There was a little bit of a reprieve around Hazado, but it was starting to not become enough for her to fully escape it. Perhaps if she could get rid of it, pass it along to someone else, she could finally find the peace she so desperately sought.

Starting to cast out her line, Neo already was finding herself bringing in fish after fish. It was nice to find that the lake she fished at was still quite effective at giving her materials. Tossing the materials behind her, she prepared to have a pile grow higher than ever. As she was fishing, thoughts went back towards her weapon once more. It seemed to be taking even more of her thoughts than ever. But that was no matter, it felt almost good to be thinking about the weapon. Perhaps she could use it more to her advantage, try to control it. She had heard rumors of accomplishing a quest on the thirteenth floor, and it was possible that she could make it such that she was able to get control of the weapon by bringing it to its source. Or perhaps that was what would cause her demise.

Though the fish had taken a moment to stop biting, Neo was still feeling as though she was off to a good start in this trip. It wasn't every day she got to open with so many materials without even being around for that long. She wanted to figure out just how long she would be here, as this trip was a little bit less about the peace that she would find. Perhaps she would wait to get about a hundred materials, that seemed like a good number. It may be quite a while before she reached that number, but it was a good number nonetheless. Besides, she could always use more materials to stock her shop with. There was also Shield’s shop if she really wanted to use it. But that would probably cost her more than she was willing to pay. That and as far as she knew, he didn’t have an infinite supply of materials to draw upon.

The fish began to bite on her line once more and Neo kept stacking up the materials. There wasn’t that many this time around, but it was still going to be enough for now. It seemed like things were moving a little bit slower, but they were going to be a bit more steady this time around. Perhaps she could pile up the materials quicker than she thought she would be, but that was still up in the air for that time. It wasn’t certain whether or not she could get the materials she needed. At least she had brought along some food in. Case she was here for a long time. Would’ve been a pain if she had had to go back to her shop like last time. Even though she had had food that time around, it was still a little bit too little to have in terms of taking it far into the day.

The fish stopped biting for the moment, but that wasn’t too surprising. It seemed that the pattern of the fish biting her line were like the tide. Though they were a bit faster this than the tide’s movement. Was there even tides in this game? It was one of the many little details that she had never bothered to check. Probably not considering how slow the tides were. If it was being tracked somewhere, it was likely going to become an important function of that area at some point. In fact, she would be concerned if she noticed the water retreat so suddenly. She was pretty sure that meant there would be a tidal wave incoming. Now that she thought about it, wasn’t the most recent floor a lot of water? She might have to look out for that if that were the case.

The fish began to bite once more, and Neo was glad to be piling up the materials that she was collecting throughout the day even more. Hopefully she would keep piling these materials up. Though it was quite possible that there could be a lull in the moment she wanted to be fishing up the most fish. There was a little bit more that she could do if she really wanted to, but there was little else that would actually accomplish much. It was much better to just save the costs and quickly make sure that she could get as many materials as she could. There was little that she actually wanted to be doing here anyways. All she was here for was the materials and the possibility of something even better than that. Though the possibility of that something else seemed like it was quite low now.

As the fish kept getting reeled in by Neo’s fishing rod, she couldn’t help but stop to feel proud of herself for getting this much already. It seemed as though she was getting slightly better at all of this. It wasn’t that much of an issue, but it was certainly going to be causing her to receive more materials than she had in the past. If it wasn’t her skill though, who knows what it would be. It could just be a really nice string of luck granting her all these materials. It could also be some strange combination of the two. That was the most likely path. But in the end she didn’t particularly care. It meant she was getting more materials and that was a good thing for her. If she wasn’t getting materials, then there might be a slight problem with her methodology.

Neo kept trying to fish, but there was a short break in what she was able to fish up. Instead, she ended up fishing out a chest from the water. It wasn’t that special to look at, and she just tossed. It to the side for the moment. She would open it towards the end of her trip. Better to save the fun. Stuff for last after all. May as well not actually open it now. Besides, there seemed to be plenty of fish for her to catch still and she didn’t want to lose that streak again. It had already happened to her once before, but she felt that if she kept fishing and not taking a break to open the chest that she would be able to keep getting fish to come to her line. If that failed, she would need to figure something else out for her plans. Perhaps there was some consistent way to get fish to be coming onto her line, perhaps not.

Though she had returned quickly to fishing, it seemed that the fish didn’t return after she hauled out the treasure chest. That was a little disappointing, but it was fine in the end. There was little for heer to do anyways for the moment, just sit here and recast her line as needed. Nothing else to do. Well, she could go work on the order she had to finish, but it was nearly done and she was pretty sure their one who ordered it would be fine if they had to wait a little bit longer for it to be completed. She was honestly surprised anyone asked for such a large order. It had never happened to her before, but with the new prices that she had, it seemed that bulk prices were becoming much more common. That was the price she paid for making a bulk discount.

The fish still weren’t biting, which was making this quite the drought of new materials for Neo. It was a little bad that they had been taking so long to actually start coming onto her line, but at the end of the day it wasn’t that bad. She would be here long enough that it wouldn’t really matter. Everything would eventually balance out, she just had to know where to start it and when to stop it. She still wasn’t sure just how far she wanted to go with this but she was hoping that she could get out of here with plenty in. A Short time. This drought wasn’t helping that for the time, but it would eventually lead to some more fish. At least, that was what she thought it would lead to. It could just lead to nothing at all, but that was going to be the worst case scenario.

Thankfully, it seemed as though the drought was finally over. Neo was able to start bringing in fish after fish and her pile of materials continued to grow once more. It was sad that there wasn’t another chest, though perhaps that lull was just a part of finding the last chest that she got. It was possible, as she knew that a lull usually occurred after finding a chest. After all, the fish had to get out of the way for her line to hook onto a heavy chest. There was little other way for her to actually accomplish that, but it was possible she could’ve gotten it very quickly without a fish interrupting it. For all she knew, some of the fish right now were blocking her way to a chest. If she could hook something quickly, she might get one. Or she could just keep bringing in the fish for the materials. It wasn’t like they weren’t worth anything.

As Neo kept fishing, she noticed another lull forming within the fishing patterns. She eventually waited on one of her casts, letting the line scrape against the ground for a bit. She was suspecting that there was a chest nearby, and the catching of. Her line on something confirmed her suspicions.. Pulling the line in slowly, she managed to reel in a chest. It was a splendid thing to look at, but it wasn’t necessarily the best thing in terms of what it stored. She set it aside for the moment, still wanting to open the chest up later in time. That would be the best course of action for now. She wanted to save up a few of these chests and open them all up at once. End the fishing trip on a good note.

With the chest finished, Neo went back to trying to fish. She was expecting another lull to form like it always did, but it seemed like the one for this chest was short lived. She was already getting a couple more fish biting her fishing pole and getting reeled back to shore. As she did so, she noticed that her pile was getting higher and higher. It was certainly a large amount of materials for her to have. Though now that she thought about it, she would probably need to be getting some lower tiered materials as well if she wanted to cook for the raid. Though she knew that most of the people on the frontlines were at some of the highest of levels, there were the people like her who weren’t quite that high of a level.

The fish were still biting onto her line, albeit a little bit slower. It was still something though, and she didn’t mind the rate they were coming in the moment. What mattered was how fast the fish came at the end of the gathering trip. The better her average rate was, the more she would be able to actually get some of these materials. She hoped that she would about be able to get enough materials to finish out Macradon’s order. It might not be necessary to get any from here as she was given quite a few materials, but it was better safe than sorry when it came to large bulk orders. It was something she would not want to stall in the middle of making and leave them hanging. It was especially worrisome when they had paid entirely up front. Though she guessed that meant she was trusted enough to complete the order.

The fish started to speed up their biting her line, which was nice to have. It was also nice to be seeing that she was getting quite the pile of materials that were piling up behind her now. It probably wouldn’t be too long before she had a ridiculous amount of them total. There was also the possibility that she wouldn’t have enough for some form of bartering. She knew from other places that few people actually used col for trading, materials being the much more stable currency. It was kind of funny actually, but she supposed it was something players ended up with less of. The game in general seemed indifferent to it, and materials worked for her usually because she knew how to get it fairly quickly. Hopefully that would help somewhere down the road for her.

Deciding to take a bit of a break from fishing, Neo quickly got up and started to look around for a chest. It didn’t take too long before her necklace began to grow warmer, signifying there was some loot nearby. It always had a bit of that warmth around when she was near her weapon, as it was a valuable object, but thankfully she didn’t have it so she knew it wasn’t interfering with the process. Looking around, she noticed a bit of wood peeking out from the ground. It took a bit of digging to get the chest out of the ground, but she was able to haul it over to her pile with the other chests that she had found and continued to have it be saved for later. No sense ruining her fun now. She wanted to save the best for last.
