Both of them tell you that they can help you change the look of your weapon/armor, but they need specific materials dropped, along with basic materials as well. They give you the location of where the special material is dropped, a Phoenix Feather, and ask that you go and retrieve it. They warn you that the Phoenix is powerful, and could be a challenge, so be prepared to fight.

"Hey, did you know there's a drop that lets you redesign an item?"

"What do you mean? Like... I can change how it looks?"

"Yea! Like, you use it, and it lets you change the name of the item, and how it looks!"

"Woah that's pretty cool!"

Baldur sat at the edge of a fountain in the Town of Beginnings, just listening to the chatter of players, feeling the life of the world ebb and flow around him when a conversation caught his ear. It was a vain item, choosing to invest in something that would let you alter the aesthetics. Who cared what an item was called? Who cared what it looked like, when the stats were what mattered?

In spite of himself, though, Baldur cared. He had an aesthetic. It was the privilege of the those who were wealthy and powerful enough in Aincrad to have items that completely matched a single aesthetic. So yes, Baldur was vain in that regard.

  • 3 weeks later...

While still resting on the stone edge of the fountain, Baldur swiped his hand and summoned the menu, scrolling through until he found one of his info broker contacts and pulled up a message. While he waited for a reply, Baldur leaned back on the fountain.

What should I rename Warden's Fury to? Something thematic. If I upgrade it, I'd go with a different name... but maybe I should save that for the other absolute accuracy weapon?

Warden's Fury should be something paralytic, to match the lighting effects. I've already had a Raijinto and a raikiri, so perhaps I should go with something different.

Raiden is the god of lightning, Raijin is the god of thunder... Inazuma is the word for lightning... so in sword form it would be... Inazumato, or Inazumaken.

It also has the absolute accuracy enhancement. I could call it something along those lines... Zettai seido? hmmm... or perhaps Kaminari no ryodo, Territory of thunder.

Baldur mulled the words over when he heard the gentle ringing of the bell which meant he had a new message.
