[PP|F15]<<Bane of Blood>>What Warg?

Recommended Posts

Yuki never enjoyed sitting on the sidelines to watch damage players fight when she could be in the fight taking damage but it just wasn't her place this time. Ariel was more than capable of handling these mobs and she showed it in her amazing display of power through fallen and single target damage. The paladin was actually pretty impressed compared to her area of attack damage. It really showed how strong swords were compared to using lower level ones like she does.

Finally, the paladin's Health bar ticked back up to completely full, signifying that she would be able to re-enter the battle at a moment's notice when Ariel needed it. Not yet, however. She didn't want to get in the lioness's way just yet. She was in her rhythm and Yuki trying to interrupt the battle to take aggro might only mess things up for her. Bide her time and pounce when necessary.

And so she did just that, pushing the wolves back like a litter of puppies as she fearlessly swung her spear, taking full advantage of the range it had. By this time the remaining three mobs couldn't manage to get close to the blonde as she kept them at bay with something that looked as simple as s flick of the wrist. "Tsk!" once again she clicked her tongue audibly as one of the lesser wolves, unlike its unlucky brother, managed to survive with but a slither of HP left after being assaulted in the same manner as the previous one. Maybe she could change the pace a bit with her next attack. Now having a little more space to breath now that the situation was fully under her control, the blonde allowed herself a quick glance behind: "Everything alright back there?" she asked, a smile slowly making its way on her features as she adressed Yuki.

Yuki stood quietly off to the side of the battlefield, just out of reach of being targeted by anything she didn't want to hit her. The best she could do was wait for some of the wolves to die so that she could come in and help her. If Ariel took any damage, she would jump in and pull aggro.

Ariel's voice sounded through the battle to check on the lower leveled player. "I'm doing alright. Keep your eye on the battle and I'm here to help when you need it!" The paladin called. She gripped on to her lance tightly, making sure to be ready to jump into the fray if she was needed.

Watching a front liner at work was definitely something, even if Night was capable of doing more damage. Night, had a weapon like Jack's Executioner though, so not a fair comparison cause that weapon is insanely powerful.

Ariel couldn't help but show a small smirk, if she were to have trouble managing the mobs on this floor then she would have to resign from her position as a frontliner. Still, it felt good to fight alongside someone for a change, after all this time of fighting her battles alone. But somehow, being watched like this, she couldn't shake the feeling of being silently judged on her performance. That only drove her to put on a better performance to keep Yuki entertained, memories from the time she fought in the Colosseum slowly surfacing.

She eyed the Alpha wolf, which she failed to land a clean shot so far as it was always protected by the remaining members of the pack. To thin the herd even more, she needed once again to use a AoE attack, thus finishing off the low HP mob and bringing the other one within her 'kill range'.

The time for watching was over. Yuki needed to do something or her muscles might start getting cold. With a quick dash of speed and hum of a sword art, the pink paladin rushed past Ariel. The lance reached in and plowed directly into the last remaining wolf. Her attack didn't accomplish much and it seemed that the canine was still focusing on her damage counter part. She wasn't necessarily worried since Ariel could easily take a hit.

"I'll get too bored just standing around letting you take all the damage." The girl turned to her ally and grinning a bit cocky. The wolves were somewhat ignoring her, but no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't get to the main boss of the group. It hid behind it's lower wolf to ensure that it wouldn't get targeted by either of the two players that tried to work around it. "This boss is something of a coward, don't you think?"

Seeing a pink streak beside her, the blonde couldn't help but let out a small smile: 'What damage?' she was about to ask but after a quick glance at the corner of her screen she noticed that, while still green, her health bar took a dip without the blonde even realizing it until now. "Hehe.. knock yourself out!" she finally replied hoping that she won't take her words literally. With  deleting the remaining wolf from their sight. Now all that remained was the alpha "Yeah... Don't even think about running." she added with a menacing look in her eyes, making the beast backstep momentarily before lunging for an attack. The blonde thought that her intimidation worked as, despite having mowed down the rest of the pack, the leader decided to attack Yuki as soon as she jumped into the action. She let out a small curse under her breath but other than that didn't show any signs of distress.

The bite from the alpha was a lot more dangerous than from its lackeys as expected. It's jaws felt like iron, locking her into her position momentarily. It refused to let go of her shin, so Yuki did the next best thing. The girls lance reared back and jammed directly into the side of the canine. It growled and backed up the moment it was released from the kabob. Glancing up at her health bar, Yuki was already feeling a bit nervous. Down past 90% doesn't happen that often for her. She would make a mental note that this boss is nothing to sneeze at.

"No more of your pack to protect you, and so we become the lion's, and you the sheep." Yuki says, setting up in her usual defensive stance. Really though, her taunts were met with a bit of a nervous feeling. Seeing how easily her HP could be drained by this thing made her wish she had more self healing.

Ariel couldn't help but cackle at that comparison since it was aimed at her. "Looks like we got a new addition to the family." Snickered the blonde while addressing her white furred familiar, who she had seen many times 'adopt' different familiars and players into her own pack. Despite her easy going attitude, the blonde picked up on the tension in Yuki's tone and movements. Eyeing their health bars, it looked like the wolf's attack visibly removed a chunk of her pink haired companion's. Trying not to be too blunt with her intentions, the blonde added: "If it gets too annoying, let's switch. I'd like to see it try me." The beginning of a predatory smile creeping on Ariel's expression as she eyed the 'sheep' before charging it. Effectively shortening the distance between her and the mob in a instant, leaving behind a red streak.
Her spearhead gets engulfed in black flames as it pierces through the wolf's body multiple times. The blonde would audibly click her tongue as she saw the wolf once again going for her partner.

Yuki winced as the wolf only gained more ferocity in its eyes. The glint of the natural light caught it's eye as it tore at the non-existent tendon in her body. "K-Kah..." The girl grunted but it faded quickly remembering that she couldn't actually feel the pain, her brain was only trying to make her feel human. Honestly, the placebo feeling was nice for someone like her. She never really got the message of danger until it was right on her doorstep. If she didn't have a feeling of danger, she would put herself in way too much danger.

Yuki shook off this feeling of being bite, whatever the hell it was. It felt as though her leg was falling asleep. Readying her spear, she would need to keep up her attacks to stay alive. If Ariel had room to breath, she would kill this thing off easily. When she stepped forward to make her attack, her leg burned with a familiar sensation, causing her attack to go way off to the side. She cursed under breath in her native language.

Despite knowing full well that it wasn't real, the fact that Yuki reacted like she was in pain did little to assuage the blonde's concerns. Once again she eyed the health bars and saw the decline on the pinkette's. The blonde's mood would shift each time she saw a dip but decided to keep quiet for the time being. She turned her attention once more towards the hound, which still would face them despite being shown who's boss. 'Perhaps it needed a little more persuasion' was the blonde's thought as she thrust her spear once more, punishing the mob for its defiance. It didn't seem to take kindly to her treatment as it finally lashed out at her. Ariel tried to kick it away but as with Yuki, it bit her calf. The blonde felt its teeth sink but no other sensation accompanied it, still she was glad that she took off some pressure off her companion.

The false pain struck again momentarily, then subsided as soon as it came. The bleed effect waned and the paladin was sitting around 75% of her HP. Ariel had chunked it's health for more almost half of her max. It was insane the difference in damage that she could do when she was in one-on-one combat. She was glad that she wouldn't have to fight against her.

The paladin grinned as her bleed effect disappeared. She was beaten up but still green so it wasn't time to give up yet. Confidence with cockiness wasn't the best of mixtures, but combined with Yuki's hardheaded nature, she could be a tough opponent to keep down.

Rearing her lance back with the familiar pink hum of power, Yuki smashed her lance over the canine's head. The weight of the blade was enough to get some damage out, but unfortunately, a wolf had hide just as tough as her armor apparently.

The blonde had to admit that she underestimated this quest's difficulty. And with it the wolf's tenacity as well. Despite taking punishing hits after hits from the pair it still stood its ground and attacked them when it saw the opportunity. She would also see the same quality in the tank fighting by her side. "Don't be too aggressive, let me have it's attention." chimed Ariel, half thinking that she shouldn't bother giving indications, after this third? time. One more glance at Yuki's health bar cemented her hunch that she didn't have a high rank in Battle Healing or any health replenishing enhancements equipped. She'll have to try and approach the subject of her tank build since she also didn't seem to be relying on evasion to dodge damage, until now taking one every attack she received at face value. Nonetheless, she left that as a afterthought, something to mule over after the current fight ended so once more the blonde impaled the wolf with her weapon; which once again displayed the black flames.

Yuki was about to rush in for another attack, but Ariel's voice stopped her. Thinking the best thing that she could do was take it's attention so she could get easy hits in, Yuki was pushing her aggression from the moment that she entered battle. Observing health bars, she could see why she wanted her to hold back at this point. Ariel could finish their opponent with the next strike. If she rushed in and let the wolf feed of her health points, it might survive the next attack. Ariel was smart, made sense for someone as experienced as her.

Yuki took a few steps back, getting some distance between her the boss. "He's all your then. I'm told my fighting style is a bit aggressive. I apologize." The paladin said backing off to Ariel's side and watching the wolf carefully to ensure that she blocked any attack that came at her from it.

To the blonde's surprise, the pink tank actually heeded her words and stopped attacking. 'So she actually heard me...' thought the blonde, before nodding in acknowledgement. "Don't beat yourself over it! I'm kind of the same myself." she admitted with a slight blush, not adding the fact that unlike Yuki did now, Ariel could get lost in the battle frenzy and wouldn't stop even if prompted by others. But usually that affected only her, as a tank one has to think of the rest of the teams and the consequences of her actions for her teammates. She was was looking forwards to see this tank's future, having witness that key clarity just now from the girl. With newfound motivation, she struck at the alpha once more, determined to end its life right there. But it seemed that her weapon hasn't had enough yet, the black flames not manifesting as before... the attack was devoid of the extra damage needed to finish it, leaving the wolf with only a red slither of health. "kuso..." she muttered instinctively.

Yuki's weapon faded back into the ether. It was clear that Ariel had the rest of this fight in the bag and she would only make it more difficult for her at this point. Though, she kind of wish that she had kept the aggro on the enemy when she say it barely holding on for it's life with nothing but a sliver of a red health bar remaining. If she had taken another hit, it would have hit her thorns and died, or it could have proced a critical and forced her to bleed again. That would have been annoying gave the enemy it's health back.

Yuki could tell that her weapon was specially enhanced like she wanted with her own armor and weapon. Although, she wasn't very familiar with the type of ability the weapon was using. It seemed like every so often would increase her damage when she attacked but it was sort of based with luck. Pretty much the same way most damage over time effects worked.

Glancing at her side, it seemed that YUki was already treating this fight as a win for them; as she should, looking at the mob's remaining health. A little irked, she decided to push her frustration towards the mob who was finally starting to realize its impending demise. The alpha turned around as she saw the blonde taking a step forwards and it looked like his instincts were telling it to run as fast as it could with its tail visibly between its legs. "Oh no you don't!" shouted the blonde and executed two low slashes aimed at its feet, effectively grounding the mob. Next she put her black heavy-booted foot on its neck and watched it protest for a bit before starting to squeal and whine, supposedly out of fear. The blonde let out a snort and drove her black flaming spear straight through its head, having its whole body explode and shower her in colourful pixels.

Moments after a small chime followed by a "Congratulations!" message, announced the end of their quest and listed the rewards. "That took more work than expected!" admitted the blonde as she eyed her red energy bar, she still had another high rank sword art in there but this was cutting it way too close than she usually did. On the other side, her health was almost full to the brim, a sight she hoped she would see more of at the end of a fight.

Yuki sighed in relief. Admittedly, she was getting a bit nervous with her health getting so low. Ariel herself was probably running rather low on energy using all those insanely powerful sword arts. Once the enemy was cleared, she returned her shield to her inventory as well and caught up with Ariel. The paladin stopped next to the lioness and gave her a smirk. "The power of a front liner is unmatched. I only hope I can get as strong as you to join the front lines as well. I just need to keep grinding and keep getting stronger. I hope we can fight together on the front one day."

The paladin was pleased that she got experience at fighting with a front liner that wasn't just Shield. Shield was a great man who had taught her a lot about what it means to be a tank, but working with someone who she might actually be working with in a group was nice.

"I wouldn't say unmatched... more like... convenient?" she slightly tilted her head, a way of explaining what she meant forming in her head. "Someone half of my level could match the power output if they invest only in those kind of skills. But the downside is that they wouldn't invest in let's say... armor or shield skills. Or vice versa. The potential is the same for everyone and if you're lucky to score some equipment that suits you, you're all set. The important part is to plan ahead." she said with a smile, finding herself expositioning stuff that people were probably already aware of. She brought the map in front of them and set the setlement, where they had to close the questline as the their new destination. Dusting herself off more by custom than necessity, she motioned that they should be on their way back. "I'm any case, I'm curious to see what kind of a tank Yuki-chan will become once she decides to come to the frontlines." she added at the end with a broad smile. The blonde had fun while doing the quest, thing that probably wouldn't have happened is she undertook it along so she was happy the two got to meet.

"I already have a good idea of the build that I want to. I took me all the way up until the latter half of tier two to figure it out, but if I have my way, anything that can be mitigated will stand no chance against me, no matter how much it mitigation it has against me. However, the idea in mind requires quite a bit of care and time to make perfect, though I assume that pretty much every player's build is the same way. Either way, the important part is that I get strong so that I can do what is necessary to help everyone here, including myself. This world is cruel and I won't rest until I see my parents and my sister again. If I'm not strong enough to..." The girl paused a moment, walking beside Ariel with a slightly distant look in her eyes. She shook that feeling off pretty quickly. "Well, I'd rather die trying than live scared."

The blonde nodded and mentally commended Yuki for having foresight, a think she lacked at lower levels. She felt it was best to say silent, about the fact that at the beginning she had no idea what she was doing and picked everything that added to her damage output, forsaking everything else. Luckily the lower floors were more forgiving even if they were the frontlines, in time she corrected her build and all her efforts summed up to who she was in this moment, for the better or worse. However, she had seen people that acted like she did, perish during boss fights for coming ill prepared or overconfident.. times and times again. The 'grace' floors were no more and the current frontlines were ruthless towards any that came unprepared so during her hermitage, she decided that as a form of atonement.. you could call it; to help players where she can, imparting wisdom? from her past experiences. Not many were willing to teach others or spend time to make others understand, most were gunning for themselves, which she couldn't relate to. But she decided to take another path and was currently working to build the foundation for it. Maybe, after she'd establish herself, Yuki would be willing to listen some more... Who knows...
