[SP|F11] <<Nature's Treasure>> A Long Trip

It took a bit of preparations, running around shops and surprisingly enough, not even Yuki's, having supplied his food from Gaius instead. He was some chef that seemed to have his shop set up around the seventh floor, which was... Well, not what Chase was used to after all. With Blizz having been left back at the shop to rest while Shay was taking care of some business on her own, the boy sighed and made his way back to the eleventh floor, stocked up with his lunch that would provide some good buffs to take care of any rotten luck or tougher mobs.

Hell, if what he'd heard was right, then that meant his blows would be much faster and rougher on the monsters, while he would overall manage to make more agile movements on his own. The ways that Aincrad worked he'd begun to get familiar with, but that wasn't to say they didn't surprise him any nonetheless.

He was quick to start digging into the foods while still inside of the safezone, losing himself out of the plentiful flavors and great taste to each piece that he'd bought from Gaius. Maybe Yuki's food was alright too, but she was the one that didn't sit with him all too well, especially after what she indirectly caused between him and Shay. Once he was done enjoying all of the food, he donned a woodland armor that he got during the mission he met NIGHT, knowing that the less damage he took, the better he'd fare against hordes of monsters all at once. Speaking of which...

He made his way back to where he used to hang around, but it appeared he took a wrong turn, instead ending up in a courtyard of sorts. The monsters around weren't Nepents, but humanoid mushroom-men by the looks of it, wandering about aimlessly. Seeing a group of four, even though rather hesitantly, the bluehead unsheathed his sword and began his attack.

With a sideways slash, he slammed all of them with the flat of his blade, causing them to get stunned. Now that he had a second to scan them really quickly, he noticed the four holding wooden staves, as if they were wizards of sorts. He predicted they'd probably be able to dish out lots of damage, so sticking to the plan was best-  take them out before they put you in any danger. Quite simple yet effective, as per usual. "One more strike!", he shouted out, bracing himself and quickly switching his grip on his sword.

Now raising it into the air at a diagonal angle, he slashed down and tried to swipe all four of them once more with the hit, in order to take out the entire squadron that he'd just engaged in combat with. Two of the monsters appeared to have snapped out of it fast enough, getting out of harm's way and turning around to try retaliating, only for their attacks to be blocked by the flat of Chase's blade.

Before the two got any more time to start running away or continue their attacks, the bluehead lunged right at them with his blade sideways, slashing as soon as he stopped right before the two short mushroom men. Although he was sure his grip was good, he let his eyes quickly scan the battlefield to see whether he'd gotten them both or not. Just as he was about to notice, the familiar blip answered the question for him. They were dealt with.

Pulling back to his normal stance, he sheathed his sword and decided this would be a good enough time to rest and recollect his energy. Four monsters seemed to be easy game when he was this buffed, and his damage output had increased greatly- same as his agility with his weapon overall. He took no hits during this battle, and felt always ready to parry any blow. Closing the loot window, he grinned stupidly.

Clapping his hands together, the swordsman was excited to have finally gotten some good loot. Although he managed to get a whopping three perfect items, he'd heard rumors of some special enchantments obtainable only through identifying perfects. So alongside hunting for Col to get his house that he'd share with Shay, this was his other goal. Getting perfects to score one of those unique enchantments- that way, he'd be able to make progress much faster and nothing would be able to effectively stand in his way, to stop him from reaching the third tier.

Surely it would take a while, but he had his fair share of things to do until then and that was undeniable. He wasn't rushing it either- just doing the best he could to speed up the slow process, especially with the other quests that he'd need to clear until then for the sweet SP bonus. Whilst waiting for his energy to recover, he looked around the courtyard for any materials sticking out like a sore thumb due to their glow.

He picked up two of the materials just laying about the ground, holding them firmly in his fist and beginning to wonder just what sorts of trinkets he could make with those. Maybe one day, he could become a grandmaster of his profession and dish out the best trinkets possible in Aincrad amongst maybe two or three more- he couldn't think of many others that he'd heard of that dedicated to their craft, after all. Speaking of which, as per usual, Chase had gotten information on a quest that could potentially help improve his craft by lots.

Ensuring better results through use of a special tool he'd have to face a special someone for, of course. He wanted to take his time getting to it, but he'd surely check it out in the near future, nab the tool and get to perfecting his crafting more than ever. "Heh, now we're talking..."

There was a lot to plan ahead of time, but there was no rush to do so after all. Shay always helped and it's not like he was relying on himself solely. With that in mind, he picked up another two materials and stashed them away in his inventory, getting up and stretching. He'd look for some more and if he found them, so be it. If not, he'd just look harder when resting from the next battle. He didn't have to look too far to the side to notice another four mushroom-people, except this time they appeared to wield some form of spears rather than staves.

The variety even in a world that was programmed to be, like Aincrad, kept being as astonishing as ever. Scooping up anything that he saw off the ground, he began to head their way, giving himself some more stretches to prepare for battle before moving a hand to rest it on his sheathe on his back.

He took a moment to adjust his stance, letting out a deep breath before sharpening his glare momentarily. As soon as he felt ready and exhaled one last time, he ran towards the squadron, seeing them notice him only when he'd gotten in range for an attack. He quickly slashed left and then back right, aiming for their legs to cripple them momentarily and buy him some extra time in the form of a stun.

To his surprise, none of them managed to react fast enough as they were probably weighed down by their equipment and their stubbier bodies than the sorcerers, causing them to all take the hit. Needless to say though, the attack didn't deal quite as much damage because of him targeting their legs. He was about to make up for it with a powerful slash to the chest however, hoping to take all four out at once.

Instead of giving them any room to dodge or prepare themselves for the attack and snap out of it, the boy quickly raised his sword up and cleaved downwards at one of the spearmen, before slashing all around him by spinning on the back of his right heel. After a single turn, he slashed the other direction once more to make sure that any unhit enemies had gotten caught up somewhere in the attack, breathing heavily from the exhausting series of attacks he just performed.

All of them appeared to simply be standing there, twitching just slightly before they shattered into crystals. To his surprise, he managed to pull off the perfect attack and take out all four enemies not only without getting hit, but in nothing but two sword arts properly chained together. Pride swelled up inside of him as he puffed his chest out, grinning widely and looting at the loot window with a stupid happy smile.

He closed the window once he read through it, happy to have gotten yet another pair of perfect equipment. It would slowly stack up, and once it did, he'd have lots to identify and spend his Col on- other than getting an estate. For now, he had to follow his routine of letting his energy build back up. Maybe at the rate he was getting all the money, he should stay here for an extra amount of time and finish off the sum with ease. Like so, there was no way that he'd need any more than he'll have gathered when he's done with this stage. After all, Shay would help him too, so even if he had to make another trip back, it'd be easy, a complete walk in the park in comparison. "Say... So this is just how much I'll be helping others when I master my own profession, huh? Look at just how far some food got me, imagine actual equipment and not just consumables..."

Chase recollected his thoughts and silently foraged for any items on the tiles and small patches of green here and there. He ended up finding what seemed like a little sapling, but made out of the same material that was used for the tiles he was standing on; it was probably marble. He stashed it into his inventory, continuing to look around, eager to see what other spectacular and unique items the world could produce for him. He'd changed a lot since becoming active in Aincrad, in ways he wouldn't have expected.

He felt much more enthusiastic, even if he was still overwhelmed by the amount of information and the new discoveries he made as he was forced to slowly but surely progress from floor to floor. He was also much less moody and his body had gotten accustomed to jumping around from place to place in the heat of battle- he'd quite literally become a bit of a monster himself, given how battle-thirsty he could get at times in the thrill of the hunt.

"Oh, another two. Sweet.", he commented in the back of his head, finding two more of the same peculiar item he had just now. The amount of materials he was getting from here was godly, and if he could go to a merchant and sell the materials or maybe even convert them into lower materials- they'd probably have more value anyways, right- he would make a killing off of it. Maybe it was one more way to get easy Col, or he was better off keeping them for his shop... Probably half and half.

He looked for an item one last time before spotting some more Spearmen further ahead. Even though he wasn't going to lunge at them just yet, he took his sword out and held it firmly in his hands, taking a deep breath and giving but a confident smirk. "Right now, I'm as strong as I will be without getting some more levels... And I feel invincible. It's an amazing feeling, isn't it?"

Picking up the last two materials of the same sort that he found on the ground, the boy fixed his gaze onto the spearmen. This time, they seemed to be fully prepared for the attack to come, but that didn't mean they'd receive any less damage, should he strike fast and hard. He dug his foot into the ground just slightly, lunging right at them and slashing sideways, causing a strong gust of air to blow anybody that managed to dodge the hit back, before raising his blade and slamming it down with its flat side, causing a cloud of dust to obstruct vision in the area.

It would appear that he missed one of the monsters, but everything else was paralyzed. As for the fungus-based lifeform that got away, it missed its attack due to the combination of the gust and dust that were all over the place now.

Seeing three of them at fairly low HP, Chase wanted to take the chance while it was still there. He gripped the sword tightly with both hands, lowering its blade just above the tiles on the ground and taking a deep breath, heaving and sending a flurry of sideways slashes their way. The dust eventually got cleared up from all the force and slashes that the boy relentlessly sent, hopefully getting a few hits on their weapons if not their fat, stubby little bodies. 

To his surprise, he managed to miss one and instead got a hit on every other one as the red cuts appeared on their bodies, having worn two out completely while the other one had been previously untouched by any attacks, only now taking damage. The bluehead hissed when one of the spears got to him, dealing some light damage and getting him to only smile wider. "Took you long enough!"

There was some form an adrenaline rush to being attacked, now having taken his first hitpoints worth of damage after taking out two squads cleanly on his own. With this newfound rush of energy, he dashed forwards and tried to cleave one of the two spearmen, before throwing him right at the other and slashing while both were within range for his blow to strike. He was certainly much more violent than usual, but then again, the adrenaline rush didn't help him hold back any- he wanted to let out, practice, and get stronger. There were little other ways to do it, in the end.

Both got hit clean by the finishing blow, getting wiped out on the spot as the loot window popped up in front of Chase. It wasn't anything amazing to get excited over, but all of this little 'treasure' was surely stashing up quite quickly, and he felt nothing but happiness for that.

The battles were certainly a way to relieve himself of the worries that kept him awake at night or gave him hardships when he least needed them. It was a nice place to vent, physically or not, and at the same time make a living out of it. Just the idea that he would shortly have his own home once he'd be done with a little bit of monster hunting more was way too good to just pass up in his eyes. "Finally, I can live like a human again... Me and Shay, in a house, like proper adults... I never got to live that way, and I was never eager to. But it's not like I've much of a choice now anyways, do I?"

"It's better than staying at a stinky inn or than sleeping on a mattress at the floor. I can imagine how Shay's lived the past few months... No, years? I can't tell how long it's been. It must have been hell regardless.", he concluded his thoughts, looking around the ground for any potential materials he could use further down the line.

By now, he'd just accepted that his stay in Aincrad would be quite the long one, and there was little he could change about it. Although with this being his only way to come in contact with Shay, he honestly... felt conflicted. On one hand he wanted to get back to the real world, to put an end to this never ending nightmare and go back to being a normal person, alongside his best, childhood friend. On the other, he didn't want to leave Shay, or any of the others he'd met here behind. Especially Shay, due to his more intimate relationship with her.

He was in quite a predicament, and he certainly wasn't able to tell where he stood on this. He definitely had to get back to the real world sooner or later, so the best he could do was just... enjoy the experience, as odd as that might sound.

There was no way he was staying here forever, the same way there was no way he was rushing to get out. It would happen, naturally. The same way that Katoka and Vie seemed completely sucked into this world, and despite being weaker than him, they'd adapted, he would have to do the same. Even if it would take quite some time to get unused to the comforts of the real world and all the habits he had there, he'd already gotten used to venting his frustrations by doing the one thing he could in here- swinging his sword.

Giving a quick, final look for any materials, he decided to begin heading towards what would be the fourth squad he'd face on his trip for Col right here. "I really like getting thoughtful at times like this, heh?", he commented internally on his own tendency, slowly pulling his greatsword out and holding it with both hands as he took a deep breath.

He quickly lunged right at the four spearmen, feeling time slowing down the closer he got. They had just begun to turn to look at him, wary as ever, slowly getting their spears in position to attack while he pulled his own blade back, ready to swipe at them after having let his blade run against the ground, causing a small line of dust to start being dragged along, with a few sparks. Only a blink later, he'd begun his attack, trying to stun them by throwing the dust right in their eyes to hinder their vision and leave them confused long enough for him to finish them off.

His attack proved to be successful, at least for the most part. Two of the bloated creatures, surprisingly enough, managed to dodge the attack by dashing to the side at the very last second, trying to retaliate. His health dropped just slightly from there.

To even further the boy's surprise, one of them even managed to get a small poke in with his spear, getting a laugh of excitement from him. "You little..! Keep getting stronger and get even more challenging damn it!", he taunted them, raising his sword to slash down at them. He wasn't sure why he was laughing- it was the excitement, the adrenaline, the rush... He was slowly, bit by bit, becoming part of this world. Even if he didn't realise it quite yet, his body moved as one with his sword, and he craved more fights. Be it for the loot or the combat experience to use later down the line.

The slash that followed was a powerful, weighty, sideways stroke with intent to cut down the two that'd been hit from the previous move and had stupidly enough decided to stay still. And it was a clean hit on all four.
