Background:

He was born to a middle class family in Osaka. His family was decently happy until his mother left his father for a more wealthy man. She left when Morine was only 5, and then 3 years later his father remarried, afterwards, his father and stepmother had a baby boy and named him Tada. However, his stepmother passed away due to complications arising from birth, leaving him, his father, and his newborn half-brother alone.

If they thought things couldn’t get any worse, their father took his life a few weeks after, leaving them alone to fend for themselves. They were put into foster care and resided in a children’s home for years, waiting to be adopted. Over the years, Morine raised and loved Tada the best he could, protecting him from bullies, helping with his homework, he even taught him how to cook. Things went bad when Morine was 17, his brother was 9, after hearing about the release of Sword Art Online, and the revolutionary NerveGear. 

Being an absolute geek his whole life, this only made Morine even more obsessed with technology. He only had enough money for his own rig, which is quite fortunate considering the masked purpose of SAO. He planned on only taking it apart to examine the components, but Tada convinced him to play it for a bit before he demolished it. 

So that’s what he did, he camped out with his lil bro, waiting for the line to move. He was the last in line, but he got it, he’s not sure who was more excited. Himself for getting it, or his little brother (probably excited to know he could convince Morine to let him play it). They brought it home, unboxed it, and Morine logged in immediately. I’m sure we all know what happens next.

After being trapped in the game, he began to panic when he realized his brother would be alone for a while, without anyone to ensure his safety or happiness, he had a break down. Though, he knew he wouldn’t get out, after hearing about the conditions required before they could all be released, he decided to be one of the players fighting to beat the game. Not for himself, not for the other players, but to get back to his brother.

Virtues

1. Honesty: He always tells the truth, he will never not be honest no matter what the situation is. He believes it is best to say things as they are no matter the reprecussions because it could cause tension and harm later on. He will put things bluntly as well, even if it hurts someone's feelings.

2. Generosity: Whenever there is a chance to help someone, he will take it. Whether he’s giving directions, lending money or items, or assisting with a quest. He doesn’t ask for anything in return, even if he needs it. He finds joy in helping people, and he also finds it as an obligation to assist those in need.

3. Purpose: He has a strong sense of purpose that drives him to achieve his goals. He understands his purpose in life clearly, he knows why he’s here, what he must do, and what he must do to achieve them. He will do anything to achieve them, even if that means taking lives.

Flaws

1. Doubtful: He has a hard time trusting others, but he will if he finds it necessary. He also doesn’t trust others to “change their ways”, he believes that once you lose your way, you can never find it again. He’s afraid others will judge him after getting to know him or that they will betray him after he becomes too vulnerable.

2. Overprotective: When he becomes emotionally attached to someone, he won’t let them out of his sight. No matter how strong they are, he won’t let them go anywhere without them. This can come off as too possessive, but he’s compelled to worry about his loved ones no matter what.

3. Impulsive: He’s very hyper and hotheaded. He has trouble planning and observing the field before running into fight, especially when someone’s life is at stake. He acts on impulse and doesn’t think twice before acting, which is why he relies on others to help keep him in check.
