He'd sent the rest of the Wobbagong ahead to execute a holding action against the first knight's cloned doppel, without realizing the full danger posed by these potent monstrous mobs. It had taken six frontliners to take one of these things down, and they were only three, none of them yet meeting the requirements of that moniker. "Hang on, guys. I'm coming." Sounds of battle ahead and a wayward arrow with grey and red fletching told him everything he needed to know. Veering sharply left and upward, he sought higher vantage for scouting and hurtling into frenzied battle mode alike. The battlefield revealed itself as a scene of pure chaos, Ren doing his best to kite the mob in circles while Foyle and Jeeves peppered its polished hide with bolts and arrows, to somewhat limited effect. Ren looked a tad haggard and worse for wear, but mostly because his armor was weighing him down. Spectral Knights were fast. Like, stupid-fast on zoomies kind of fast. It was probably wise of the would-be paladin to have given up his shield, but he was still far from agile. "Ren! Dodge to port!" Nautical terms would avoid issues of facing, at least in theory. Apparently not, as his counterpart was both distracted and confused, exposing himself to attacks he really wasn't built to withstand. The Knight lunged, glass shoots lancing outward, ready to piece his purple and black plate mail, skewering him for dissection. This attack applies all applicable DoT's to all targets when this occurs. Mist Body | Natural BD 9 attacks made against Spectral Knight will no longer automatically hit and will use accuracy & damage calculations as normal due to the Spectral Knight bending and twisting to allow dangerous attacks to pass harmlessly through. The hit is treated as a non-critical hit, and all enhancements that would activate on a natural BD 9 (bleed, holy, burn, freeze) will not trigger when this occurs. Attempted Rewrite | On a CD 10+, the Spectral Knight will find another NPC nearby and manufacture that NPC into a clone of itself with the same stat block including remaining hit points and any applied status effects. Tier Lock | For the duration of the fight, all of the participants’ stats that scale with Tier are calculated as though they’re Tier 4. [DMG/MIT/BLEED enhancements etc.] This skill only locks downward. Those at Tier 1, Tier 2, or Tier 3 will still have T1, T2, or T3 stats, respectively. A dozen shafts stuck from the Knight, brandished at all angles, as if it were too dense to notice. That, or his attacks just weren't having much effect. Loosening another shot, this one found its mark in the thing's shoulder and pierced clean through to the far side. Another mild notch of its health bar vanished in response, but not nearly enough. When Ren stumbled, Foyle's jaw clenched. There was nothing he could do. Not from this distance and using a weapon that the thing barely deigned to acknowledge. Glancing across the field to Jeeves crouched in his fox hole, he knew the same was true for him also. "Come on, Freyd, where are you..." Shoots shot out and a miasmic while of dark manifested to intercept them. Thoughts kept to himself, the youngster fixed his goggles after falling prone had knocked them sideways on his face. If they could keep it down, indefinitely, the group combined could whittle its health down to nothing eventually. "I really need to make us some better gear," he bemoaned, cursing himself for not having done so prior to them responding to the call. A glance and scowl from beneath Freyd's cowl scolded him for self-criticism. He knew how much Ren did for others from The Knight Shift, and how many had been helped in the process. Pride swelled in his sword arm, adding heft to his swings as if pounding their enemy with his forge hammer. "Just another day on the job." Plans were already forming in his mind's eye, wondering whether he might be better suited to wielding his craftsman's tools than the blades of heroes of old, as he'd so often felt he should. While the Knights were tough, he'd yet to see them actually do much. The two fought to date had been effectively stun locked into oblivion. That suited him just fine. The wicked way he'd seen them first move, combined with their ability to multiply, left no room for games. They needed to die, quickly - preferably by yesterday, were it only possible. Resetting his footing, the purple paladin sought to regain his footing, only to nearly trip over the slighter form of Jeeves darting between shadows. "GAH! Jeeves, I swear, you're gonna get swiped at by accident if you keep that up." Hearing thunder from the east, his eyes first glanced skyward only the see plumes of dust rising from the ground. Freyd was suddenly and violently removed from the field, to who knows where. But that was a later problem. The rest of them were instantly back on their own, now facing two Spectral Knights and the threat of a total rout mere yards around the corner. Swapping targets, in keeping with his captain's last command, Foyle's bow shot pierced the newest mob's shiny noggin, shattering its entire form and spilling it like a ruptured bag of marbles, shards spraying in every possible direction at once. Jeeves cursed, the wash nearly sweeping him off his feet as he struggled to rearm his weapon for another shot, as the last Knight turned to face Ren. Without stuns, without Freyd, things were looking dire. "Head west! We need to kite it and kill it away from here, before the others arrive. Make haste!!!"
