Plot Master 0 Posted Sunday at 03:57 PM #1 Share Posted Sunday at 03:57 PM The Final Stand The Frontlines would rage on to face fight against whatever horror was causing this mess. Players of all color and creeds, levels and strengths, would find themselves forced to hold strong at the final bastions around Floor 29. Waves of corrupted entities continue to batter the walls of Illridge and Miremore, leaving the NPC guardsman laid low. Splintered wood fills the streets as feral howls echo throughout eternal nights. Animals wearing human skins, replacing all manner of life, seek hard and fast the gates that connect this Floor to the others. Like a plague, a parasite, it could only hunger for more. By pure happenstance, through all their efforts, Players had stumbled upon what they assumed the key to victory. The sword that once held a space in the Boss Room but was stolen away into hiding, was found acting as the lighthouse beacon of Graycott Point. Once removed, the waters grow dark, but it was with that shining star that they would see another sunrise. Now the difficulty would come in spades, for the forces available would need to defend all life as they knew it, and work to assist those brave enough to fight in the final confrontation. Every hand needed a sword or hammer, every wound needed tending. Else all would be washed away, like the sands across these blackened shores. Participants are required to aid whichever settlement they choose by performing any of the following tasks: Tasks 1. Rebuild Barricades (+Armor Skill Rank) 2. Tend to the Wounded (+First Aid Skill Rank) 3. Repair equipment (+Profession Skill Rank) 4. Slaughtering Mobs (+Weapon Skill Rank) 5. Command the Troops (+Leadership Skill Rank) 6. Cut down leadership (+Hiding Skill Rank) Each post must adhere to a minimum of 300 words and include an LD roll. Using the task list above, use the outlined rank as a modifier to this LD roll but no others will apply. For the number of completed (no placeholders) posts, LD will be tallied up during each of the raids 72 hour round windows. Depending on the total combined LD values, the following may occur: 1-50 | The raid will have a single wave of 4 unknown enemies spawn per group 51-100 | Nothing Occurs 101-150 | Raid participants will receive reinforcements which provides +2 Base Damage {DPS}, +50 Mitigation {Tank}, +25 EN {Support}, +1 Disable Activation Range {Scout} 151+ | Raid participants will receive renewed hope, resetting all currently drained [Crystal of Divine Light] & temporarily disabling the effects of [Horrifying Visage] for all participants. Important Side Task: Delivering the Sword to its altar A single Player or team of Players (up to 4) that is participating in this thread can choose to take part in delivering the sword. During which they are temporarily suspended from participating and are required to start their own thread that is linked in the post they choose to take it using [Delivering the Sword pt.X] as the thread title. Players can use any manner they see fit to relay the sword to its final resting place within this thread, either by avoiding mobs or cutting a path, sneaking through etc. At any point, the Player or team of Players can choose to 'pass' the sword to another individual/team within this event after closing their thread which is encouraged to prevent burn out. Each thread closed this way will automatically yield +50 LD to the current raid round window. However If staff finds that Players are abusing this to gain an easy +50 LD, that Player or those Players will be removed from the event and receive no rewards. Once at least 27000 words have been submitted and closed to 'Deliver the sword', it will arrive where it needs to. Round 1 has begun Writers will have 72 hours to make one post per character. [Countdown Timer] Current Required Word Count Completed: 0/27000 Congratulations! Because the upper goal of 20 support threads was met, Players will start with the sword. Otherwise, they would have been forced to complete additional actions to find the sword during the companion event.
Abellio 0 Posted Tuesday at 08:34 PM #2 Share Posted Tuesday at 08:34 PM (edited) “I FOUND A HAMMER!” The red-haired male burst out of a pile of rain-drenched wood and metal, holding aloft a claw hammer as if he were King Arthur brandishing Excalibur. There was rustling off in the distance, shifting debris that moved to and fro. Eventually, with an explosion of rubble, Waldo’s hulking frame could be seen. He mirrored Abellio’s gesture, holding up a bucket of nails with a bright expression. He gave a muffled, joyful noise. “Nice! Good job Waldo!” Abellio grabbed the nails and took his hammer before rushing off towards The Black. There was a sense of urgency in his movements - he needed to work quickly. Quote From Lysette: Hey Abellio! How’s it coming? He scowled, instead pouring on more speed. He was already behind. Who knew that it would take so damn long to find a hammer and nails? Wood, they had in spades. Oil and torches too, if his plan managed to work out. All they needed was the stage. Skidding to a stop a small distance away from the beach where the raiders had assembled, he dropped the bucket of nails and looked around. Waldo was right behind him, barreling towards him. Abellio felt rather bad that he had left the Walrus-man in the dust. But it was crunch time. Looking around, there was plenty of wood strewn about the beach. He didn’t realize Waldo was carrying something between his flippers until the creature came to a stop in front of him. Abellio looked down and then back up to Waldo’s beady eyes with a bright grin. Song Crystals - presumably from an abandoned NPC shop. “You’re a fucking genius, dude! Let’s grind this out.” The foundation was laid quickly. Frighteningly so. Potentially - probably - impossibly so. But that was the thing about living in a game. You didn’t get tired. Arms didn’t get wobbly. Legs and back didn’t give out. And when you were as fast as Abellio was, you could just go full bore into the process. Abellio and Waldo were absolute machines. Waldo would launch a plank or a beam and Abellio would set it. Then on to the next, rapid-fire style. They even had enough for the man to shore up some barricades to keep the creepy crawlies on the Floor from bothering the Frontliners. Within minutes, it was done. A beautiful stage and a wide sweeping fence to keep the darkness at bay. Every few feet, Abello had set torches. Waldo had placed bits of metal to shine the light towards the stilted platform. Finally, Abellio opened his menu and sent a message. Quote To Lysette: It’s ready! Pull up! Abellio hopped up on the platform and gave a sharp about face. He could see the fighting going on below. It looked intense. So maybe they’d appreciate some fight music. He cupped his hands around his mouth and took a deep breath. “HEY DUDES! I KNOW YOU’RE BUSY! DON’T LOOK JUST LISTEN! GOT SOME LADIES UP HERE THAT WANTED TO HELP KEEP YOUR SPIRITS UP WITH SOME MUSIC!” Waldo launched a crystal onto the stage like a grenade. High tempo techno beats began to echo out over the beach, drowning out the rain. “SO GIVE IT UP FOR STY/L!” Abellio winced. “WAIT! SHIT! NO! DON’T GIVE IT UP! FOCUS!” Barricades - ID: 247485 | LD: 1+5 Running Total: 6 Spoiler "Name: Abellio True Tier: 2 Level: 15 Paragon Level: 0 HP: 300/300 EN: 48/48 Stats: Damage: 13 Mitigation: 40 Battle Healing: 3 Stealth Rating: -5 Equipped Gear: Weapon/Armor/Trinket: - Armor/Trinket: - Shield/Armor/Trinket: - Combat Mastery: - Combat Mastery: Damage R3 Combat Shift: - Familiar Skill: - Custom Skill: - Skills: - Battle Healing R1 - Heavy Armor R5 - Straight Sword R4 Extra Skills: - Forgotten King's Authority - Lady Luck Inactive Extra Skills: Addons: Mods: Inactive Mods: Battle Ready Inventory: Housing Buffs: Guild Hall Buffs: Scents of the Wild Totem: Wedding Ring: Crafting Profession: Gathering Profession: " Edited Tuesday at 08:56 PM by Oscar
Dracul 0 Posted Tuesday at 11:55 PM #3 Share Posted Tuesday at 11:55 PM (edited) The rain on Floor 29 wasn't cleansing; it was a greasy, persistent smear across the visor of my helmet. Ilridge, what was once a proud city, now felt like the crumbling mausoleum of its own past. Claudia adjusted her glasses beside me, her crimson hair a defiant splash of colour against the perpetual gloom. Darius, ever the silent shadow, scanned the debris-choked streets with the watchful intensity of a guard dog. The air hummed with a low, discordant thrum – not just the storm, but the unsettling energy of the corrupted entities lurking just beyond the broken barricades. "Utterly dismal." I remarked, the words tasting like the metallic tang of the storm on my lips. "One expects a certain... grandeur, even in decay. This is merely squalid." "The main staging area is near the western gate, Master Dracul!" Claudia stated, her voice crisp despite the howling wind. She pointed towards a chaotic swirl of players near a fractured stone archway. Torches guttered, casting long, dancing shadows that made the hastily rebuilt barricades look like jagged teeth. "Reports indicate the primary need is equipment repair. The relentless assaults are taking a heavy toll on durability." "Alchemy it is, then..." I sighed, tapping a gauntleted finger against the heavy shield strapped to my back. My gaze swept over the scene: players frantically hammering wood into place, others bent over groaning forms applying bandages, small groups sallying forth to thin the shambling horrors pressing against the outer defenses. Commanders barked orders, their voices strained against the cacophony. It was organized chaos, a testament to desperation rather than true order. "Lead on, Claudia. Darius, watch our backs. These... things seem particularly restless tonight." Navigating the slick, rain-slicked streets was treacherous. The skeletal remains of buildings seemed to leer down, empty windows like accusing eyes. The eerie sensation of being watched was palpable, a constant prickle on the back of my neck. Darius moved with surprising grace for his bulk, his butler's attire incongruous but his posture radiating readiness. He placed himself subtly between us and the darker alleyways without a word. We reached the repair station – little more than a large, partially collapsed awning offering scant shelter from the downpour. Makeshift forges glowed, anvils rang, but it was the alchemical station I sought: tables laden with shattered blades, rent armor, and the sharp, acrid smell of dissolution vials and powdered mending crystals. A harried-looking player with smudges of soot across his face barely glanced up as we approached. "New set of hands? Thank the system. Grab a bench. Priority on anything frontline-bound – swords, heavy armor. Durability crystals are running low, so make 'em count!" He thrust a chipped longsword towards me. I accepted it, my alchemist's eye instantly assessing the stress fractures along the fuller. Claudia was already organizing the scattered tools on the bench beside me with practiced efficiency, laying out precise rows of catalysts and solvents. Darius positioned himself at the edge of the awning, his gaze fixed outward, a silent sentinel against the gloom. "Repetitive labor... peasant work." I murmured, more to myself than anyone. "Beneath the talents bestowed by my lineage, perhaps, but necessity makes pragmatists of us all." I activated my Alchemy skill, the interface overlaying the damaged blade. My fingers moved with practiced precision, selecting catalysts, applying dissolution fluid with a careful dropper to weaken the stressed molecular bonds, then layering powdered mending crystal precisely along the fracture lines. The faint blue glow of the repair process pulsed under my hands. It was methodical, almost meditative, a stark contrast to the surrounding frenzy. My mind, however, wandered. This constant defense... it felt reactive. Weak. We should be the ones pushing forward, cleansing this floor, not merely patching holes in a sinking ship. Claudia handed me a badly dented breastplate without needing to be asked. "The structural integrity is compromised near the left pauldron rivet, Master Dracul. Recommend reinforcing with a trace of platinum shard solution before the primary mend." "Precisely!" I acknowledged. Her keen eye was invaluable. As I worked, a sharp cry echoed from the barricade line, followed by the clash of steel. A small group of corrupted horrors – twisted mockeries of wolves with too many eyes – had breached a weak point. Players surged to meet them. My hand instinctively tightened on the breastplate I was holding. The urge to join the fray, to feel the satisfying crunch of virtual bone under my shield, flared hot and sudden – that familiar, dark pulse beneath the surface. But reason, and Claudia's subtle clearing of her throat, held me back. My place was here, ensuring others had the tools to fight. For now... Darius shifted his weight, a low growl rumbling in his chest as he watched the skirmish. He didn't move, but his fists were clenched. Loyalty bound him here, protecting me, even as his instincts clearly screamed to engage. "Focus, Master Dracul!" Claudia said softly, adjusting her glasses. "This plate requires your full attention. The frontline relies on our work being flawless." She was right, of course. Annoyingly so. I pushed down the surge of battle-lust, channelling the frustration into the meticulous application of a mending catalyst. The repair glow intensified, sealing the rent metal. Another weapon saved. Another life potentially prolonged in this grim holding action. Outside, the skirmish ended as quickly as it began, the breach sealed by reinforcements. The relentless drumming of rain on the awning filled the silence that followed, punctuated by the rhythmic clang of hammers on anvils and the distant, mournful howls from beyond the walls. The storm raged on. The darkness pressed in. And we worked, patching the frayed edges of their defiance, one meticulous repair at a time. The true battle, I knew, raged elsewhere, near that stolen sword at Graycott Point. Here, we merely held the line, fueled by duty, necessity, and the quiet, unyielding competence of those who served. Even nobility, it seemed, had its place in the trenches. For now... CHAMELEON 0 Posted Wednesday at 12:31 AM #4 Share Posted Wednesday at 12:31 AM it made little sense for him to come to this place, but ikeno takahashi, among thousands of others, was a curious sort of cat. fatal error caught his attention, and so he did what he always did and took a look. he found rain first. and wind. and lightning, too. then, the monsters. they were horrific things with gangly bodies and unsightly faces. they came in all shapes and sizes and species; some were bugs, others fish. each and every one of them was disgusting. his knife dragged along a shambler's deformed body, but his mind was elsewhere. it wasn't the first time the town of ilridge had been invaded--or so he had heard--but it would be the most notable, for it coincided with the boss raid. somewhere else, far away from there, frontliners laid their hearts against the cold hard stones along the shore and fought their way out of hell. ikeno didn't particularly care. that is to say, he didn't care about the frontliners. he cared a lot about the next floor. it was one more puzzle to toy with, one more place to explore. his attachment to those who cleared the floors was entirely non-existent. who even were they? he flipped a blade, running it through the gut of a weird fish (or frog?) creature. there were so many monsters in ilridge. a player caught his attention from behind. "hey!" the stranger called out. ikeno replied neutrally. "hey." the stranger's face was dripping. it wasn't hard to tell that he had been there long. mud covered his clothes, so much so that it was impossible to see what colour they originally were. his face and body were scratched up. the scratches faded slowly as the system tried desperately to heal him. "need anything?" the stranger asked. "heals? buffs? whatever?" ikeno's brow rose. "uh. no?" detect notified the stranger of something approaching his flank. he twirled, cutting a shambler into two equal halves. ikeno took note of the player's curved sword. a rare tool in contrast to the other weapons aincrad had to offer. shit. stop. don't be curious. Jevi 0 Posted Wednesday at 01:31 AM #5 Share Posted Wednesday at 01:31 AM Why the hell were people willingly coming to this floor? The nearly constant crackling of thunder was accompanied by the heavy hammering of metal against an anvil. Her space illuminated by a makeshift forge, its flames barely managing to stay alive with the constant onslaught of rain. A canopy made up of a fallen flag and the remains of a store's front awning were enough, for now. A powerful gust of wind that nearly took her off of her feet and knocked down her set up. Dropping everything, she rushed to the forge and fanned the flames to keep them alive. Why the hell did she willingly come to this floor? The camp was made up of mostly blacksmiths, about five or six of them, all from different walks of life and different levels. None had met before today, yet they all worked in tandem with so much chaos surrounding them. Desperate times called for desperate measures. Especially given Jevi was pretty comfortable working alone until now. "This batch here is good, ready to head back out!" Taking the red hot blade off of the anvil, she would dunk it into a barrel of rainwater. Steam rose as the blade hissed and cooled. Quickly pulling it from the barrel, she would drop it onto a table with six other weapons. "Stay safe out there." Jevi would nod to the player, who tasked himself with delivering repaired equipment back to the battlefield. Miremore was one of the last few settlements before the path down to the shoreline where the frontliners prepared to do battle. The warriors that set up barricades in the center of town were the last line of defense.. for anything that would slip past them would surely give the frontliners something to worry about. Jevi tapped her foot nervously, fingernails digging into the door-turned table as she looked out after the messenger towards Miremore. Lysette 0 Posted Wednesday at 04:26 AM #6 Share Posted Wednesday at 04:26 AM (edited) It was an impromptu decision. And it probably wasn’t a smart one. Had Lydia run this by anyone else, they probably would have talked her out of it. I mean, going all the way up to Floor 29 - right into the lion’s den - just to cheer on the Frontlines? It was stupid. She could get herself killed. The entire notion was ridiculous. Ridiculous like wiling her hours away dancing for pocket change just to get by. It had been a shock, going from riches to rags. From being on top of the world to the gutter. Even if she was finally free from her hangers-on, Lydia couldn’t justify playing it safe. She couldn’t just sit around and do nothing. But she didn’t know how to do anything. Not anything meaningful anyway. But she had her dances. And she had her voice. She stared into the clear waters of the fountain where she spent most of her days. There was an expression she didn’t recognize there. Veiled behind crimson shades, there was a resolution there. Lydia would do something. Even if all she had were her dances and her voice, she could put them to use. Even if it only helped a little bit. Even if it didn’t help at all. Lydia jumped at the sound of the incoming message. Abellio. It took her back to the day the two of them met. His bombastic attitude had been infectious. Despite her better judgement, it led her on her first adventure out of Sanctuary. And it made her realize that she needed to pull her weight. In some ways, everyone had been right. There wasn’t much a poor, starving dancer could do. But Lysette had so many tricks. She didn’t even read the message. There was a flutter in her stomach. She - they - hadn’t practiced. But she was certain she could pull it off. As she dashed towards the Teleportation Platform, she quickly typed with one hand and fussed with her clothes with the other. Her outfit needed to be just so. She had standards after all. This was her literal fucking profession. Her heels clattered upon the stone dias. And before she was whisked off in a flash of light she hit send on her hastily-typed message. Quote To STY/L Girls. Get ‘em. The change in surroundings was stark. Bright, clear skies replaced with dismal black thunderheads and oppressive rain. The floor was in upheaval. She broke off into a sprint, surprised at how gracefully she was able to move in heels. Over the broken homes and through the mud, she ran at a breakneck pace. Eventually, she heard the music over the rain. It was faint, but she knew where she was going. And then she saw it. Those rows of torches and that hastily constructed stage. It didn’t look half bad for what Abellio’d had to work with. In fact, it was perfect. That fluttering feeling in her chest intensified. Familiar. Like an old friend. She’d become accustomed to it by now. The feeling that resonated through her entire being. Those tingles that kept her on her toes, at her best. And for all the danger they were in, the Raiders deserved nothing but. Lysette grabbed hold of a beam jutting out from under the stage. Using her arm as leverage and her momentum, she swung herself up and over. Her heels clacked against the wood, her body sliding straight into center stage. Abellio saw himself off with a short wave and a grin, dropping off the front to give her space to work. Lysette couldn’t see the rest of the group. Hopefully they would come soon. She just had to trust that they would. Either way, she had to get started. “HELL-O RAIDERS! IT’S LYSETTE FROM STY/L! THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR WHAT YOU’RE DOIN’ FOR US!” She had to scream to be heard over the music playing from the crystal at her feet. Those sawtooth waves sounded familiar. A little too familiar, really. But if Kayaba was cool with making a death game, it stood to reason he didn’t give a shit about copyrights. So fuck it then. She could use it. “WHILE YOU GUYS ARE DOIN’ THE HEAVY LIFTIN’! WE’LL KEEP YOU PUMPED UP!” She took a moment. And a breath. Just a moment, just a breath. Her body began to move, gyrating to the beat. Quick and sharp. She felt exposed being the only one on stage. But she would sing the whole goddamn song if she had to. Not that she would. Battle Maid 0 Posted Wednesday at 05:09 AM #7 Share Posted Wednesday at 05:09 AM (edited) Another day, another chance to gain more experience. The crew of maidens were out the field of whatever fucking floor they had found themselves on looking for some field bosses to grind. It was the usual for her. Leveling was difficult already, she’s barely broke past the first few levels. The group would be discussing their next course of action when Tokki would receive a message from a name she hadn’t seen in a while. Immediately, it made her feel bad because she was the one who was eager to accept the NerveGear Sponsorship that had left them all in this mess. She expected the worst but it was much more surprising than that. She’d close her window to see she was now surrounded by maids. “Oh- Uh?” ”Got somewhere to be?” Agma would ask, hands on hip. ”Yeah, actually. It’s a little important.” Tokki would mention before taking off. “I’ll see you guys later!” ”Hey! Wait-! Ugh, why can’t she use more words every once in a while?” Her friend complained. — Tokki hurried through her inventory as the time approached. It was a little impromptu and she hadn’t practiced in months but she still had her outfit. Spoiler Floor 29: The highest level floor available. A tinge of fear was in the back of her head but if she could keep it cool she could easily avoid any problems from enemies. It was moist, a mire of musk more accurately. It wasn’t really the ideal location for a performance but seldom did they ever have a chance to choose where they played. She would get a glimpse of the Frontlines’ fight happening on the shore. Lysette was the STY/L member on the makeshift stage making an announcement to them all that they would cheer them on. Normally she would feel nervous just before a performance but right now she was in the zone. A ghoul-like mob with a sea-creature’s head was attempting to claw its way onto stage to get to Lysette. Tokki would use it as a stepping stool, crushing its head against the side of the stage and dissipating it into nothing. If she could kill that all that fear of warding off mobs was gone. As Lysette started the song, mobs of all kinds were climbing up to take their prey — Not Tokki’s watch. With her unceremonious appearance via a roll into some fancy leg work, the battle maiden would jump in clothes-lining a mob with her leg and kicking the next off stage. Once it was clear, she would wipe her brow. “Autographs happen after the show boys.” The girl joked and looked to Lysette with a nod before joining in on a passion she had almost forgotten. CosmiQueen 0 Posted Thursday at 03:48 AM #8 Share Posted Thursday at 03:48 AM (edited) Ahri hadn’t made a real public appearance since the start of SAO, and honestly? That was intentional. The only times she left her home were for solo practice runs, no party invites, no fans, no attention. She’d gone from dazzling diva and VTuber to digital recluse almost overnight. Shy? Maybe. Paranoid about being recognized? Definitely. Not that she didn’t miss the spotlight, but walking into a crowd as herself, without the horns, the extreme makeup, or the persona of CosmiQueen? No thank you. Still, when she got the message from Lysette about a performance being planned for the Floor 29 raid, her interest snapped into place like the click of a satisfying little button. Of course she was in. She wasn’t about to let her group try to motivate a bunch of raiders without her. Please. They deserved a show, and if she was going to risk her neck in this virtual nightmare, she might as well do it while looking hot. She commissioned a custom dress just for the occasion, sleek, skintight, and unapologetically dramatic. It shimmered like oil on water, clinging to every curve with intent. The frilled sleeves spilled halfway down her upper arms, soft but calculated. A fat, glimmering amethyst brooch sat perfectly above the swell of her bust, like it knew exactly what it was doing. Her wrists were stacked with bracelets that chimed with every flick of her hand, and she layered rings like armor. Her makeup was rushed but sharp, winged liner, glossed lips, and just enough glitter to catch the light without looking desperate. When she landed on Floor 29, the scent of salt and seaweed hit her first. Her nose wrinkled. Ugh. Ocean breeze. Romantic in theory, sticky in practice. Still, it tugged at something in her chest, nostalgia, maybe. She'd been away from the real world for too long. Maybe they missed her. Or maybe they’d already forgotten her. Her eyes found Lysette on the makeshift stage, tossing her voice over the crowd like a firecracker. Ahri smirked, rolling her eyes playfully as she strutted up to the stage, “Fuck 'em up, guys! If you don’t, I’ll be hella disappointed in you!” She adjusted a bracelet so that it was perfect, so that she was perfect. Jeeves 0 Posted yesterday at 01:53 AM #9 Share Posted yesterday at 01:53 AM (edited) “What do you mean, you ‘lost’ it?! How do you lose a giant ass reflective murder monster constantly trying to kill everything around it with fingernails hardy enough to put Freddy Kruger to shame?” Extra petulant and feisty with fatigue after nearly three days of constant battle, Jeeves’ was more than a little miffed. Wearing clothing so saturated that its consistency bordered on becoming a moist towelette certainly didn’t help. “It was right there a minute ago! Event boss mob thingies don’t just suddenly evaporate into thin air.” “Actually…” Ren’s pending exposition on the subject died on the straight man vine as an exaggerated pair of manic, sleep-deprived eyeballs glared at him threateningly from behind a pair of jury rigged steampunk goggles. “Not. Another. Word.” Jaw set, the lids over his right eye spasming with dangerously unpredictable flare, Jeeves' right arm shot out suddenly and fired a tiny ember-tipped dart. The stinger ricocheted off a nearby stack of reclaimed steel plates, bounding at a sharp and straight into a barrel of black powder someone had brought up from Burlock’s hideout on sixteen. Flame met powder. Even Marv down on the first floor heard the earth-shattering kaboom as several dozen advancing horrors who thought they'd been all super-sneaky instantly combusted and vaporized. Arm returning and raised to warn the tone deaf smith, a tiny wisp of the original ignition slithered up from behind a single raised digit. The warning dire, and threat made clear, Ren thought it best not to press the point, or his luck. Satisfied that he’d actually been heard, for a change, the scrawny smaller agent turned his attention back to guarding the smithy’s outskirts and reloading, already bemoaning that he’d had to use that trick far earlier than he would have liked. Rolling out a small flap concealed in what appeared to be nothing more than a trench coat pocket, he started searching through the rest of his rapidly diminishing stock of clever toys. Sigh. “What to use next…” *** Slaughtering Mobs (R5 Weapon Skill) | ID 247538 | LD 1+5=12 Running total: 71+6=77 *** GUILD RANK 5 (+5% col, +5% EXP) Spoiler Name: Jeeves True Tier: 4 Level: 32 Paragon Level: 0 HP: 660/660 EN: 102/102 Stats: Damage: 20 Accuracy: 5 Evasion: 4 Battle Healing: 33 Loot Die: 2 Stealth Rating: 5 AA FLN: 8 BLI: 32/-20 ENV-O: 32 Equipped Gear: Weapon/Armor/Trinket: - Prototype v.18 +3 | T4 Demonic Weapon (Projectile) | AA | Fallen | ENV-O I | Blight I Armor/Trinket: - tomochi. | EVA 3 Shield/Armor/Trinket: - Dioscuri | ACC 3 Combat Mastery: - Combat Mastery: Damage R3 Combat Shift: - AOE Shift Skills: - Battle Healing R5 - Energist - Projectile Weaponry R5 - Searching R1 - Unhindered Extra Skills: - Hiding R5 - Forgotten King's Authority Addons: - Focus - Precision - Stamina Mods: - Untraceable Battle Ready Inventory: - Music Box | LD 3 x3 - Starter Healing Potions (50 HP) x1 Guild Hall Buffs: [Firm Anima] - Guild Hall II: Allows a Guild the ability to create up to two Guild Quests. Rencesvals 0 Posted yesterday at 02:24 AM #10 Share Posted yesterday at 02:24 AM (edited) Considerable effort had gone into scrounging and scavenging enough material to cobble together some semblance of a smithy - with no insult intended to value footwear provisioners. Rencesvals - Ren to his friends - had suggested it to Hirru and others charged with protection of the frontlines beachhead in Ilridge shortly after his arrival. He, Foyle and Jeeves were the only three agents of O&I known to be on this god-forsaken floor, the rest having been dispatched to other levels better suited to their varied skills and durability. As always, the division was stretched thin. They’d warned him back when he signed up that scarcity and resourceful action would be their bread and butter, but this was stretching it a tad. Even his constant vigil at The Knight Shift hadn’t tested him as staunchly as the last few days. First came the endless waves of horrors, then these crazy spectral knight things, and now his diminutive trigger happy companion was getting antsy. “Would have been nice if he hadn’t destroyed all of the spark powder,” Ren muttered regrettably. “I heard that!” Soot-stained white hairs bristling upon the weary smith’s head even as he hammered out a badly battered kite shield, he looked like a cat that had fallen asleep on top of a cuckoo-clock only to abruptly discover the terrors brought about by the striking of noon. A glance to his left made him wonder how many players had made it back intact from the palisade walls established to safeguard their improvised bastion. Affixing arrowheads, mending mauled mail and sharpening edges dulled much like the spirits of their wielders. It was an endless and thankless task, but necessary. One to which Ren dutifully committed himself. Despite the exhaustion, it felt good to be needed. Now he just needed to figure out how to manage a pace that wouldn’t result in his hammer arm falling off… *** Repair Equipment (R9 Blacksmith) | ID 247542 | LD 9+9=18 Running total: 77+18=95 *** GUILD RANK 5 (+5% col, +5% EXP) Mega-Slime Farm Used (+10% EXP) Spoiler Name: Rencesvals True Tier: 4 Level: 34 Paragon Level: 2 HP: 740/740 EN: 106/106 Stats: Damage: 21 Mitigation: 127 Accuracy: 4 Evasion: 1 Battle Healing: 41 Loot Die: 4 Stealth Rating: -5 AA HM: 8 FLN: 8 STC: 40 FRZ: 64 Equipped Gear: Weapon/Armor/Trinket: - Hrokkon's Heart Reforged | T4 WH | AA | Fallen I | Freeze I | Static I Armor/Trinket: - Black Regalia (v.IIV | T4 MIT III | HM I Shield/Armor/Trinket: - Lark & Nightingale Pin | ACC 3 | EVA 1 Combat Mastery: - Combat Mastery: Damage R3 Combat Shift: - TECH Shift Skills: - Battle Healing R5 - Energist - Hammer R5 - Heavy Armor R5 - Searching R4 Extra Skills: - Survival - Forgotten King's Authority Addons: - Focus - Iron Skin - Precision - Stamina Mods: - Impetus Battle Ready Inventory: - Starter Healing Potion x2 Housing Buffs: - Bedroom: -1 energy cost for the first two expenditures of each combat - Bathroom: The first time you would suffer DoT damage in a thread, reduce damage taken from DoT each turn by 20% (rounded down) - Basic Kitchen: Increase the effectiveness of a single food item consumed in a thread by +1 T1 slot. KnightinGale 0 Posted 8 hours ago #11 Share Posted 8 hours ago (edited) "HOLD YOUR GROUND!" Eve's orders echoed from the grounds of the Tracker's Alliance's Forward Operating Base on Floor 29. She and Riardon were in charge of helming the defensive front closer to the teleport gate. The grotesque horror monsters were slamming into the makeshift barricades faster than they could build them. KnightinGale was working overtime just to keep up. Even if I had another mechanic like myself, I fear we wouldn't be able to keep up. Her experience as a grease monkey in the real world allowed her to operate well under these tense scenarios. Her shop was always busy and oddly enough these shambling creatures thrashing about, ruining her hard work, reminded her a lot of disgruntled customers. CRASH Another barricade fell only a few yards away from her position. Without a second thought and operating on pure instinct, KnightinGale dropped what she was doing and placed her self directly in the monsters path. Shield met grotesque mass as with each defiant step, Eve pushed the mob back behind the defensive line. "Some one get that barricade back up!" She barked towards the handful of other players that had been assigned to assist her. "I can't keep this thing at bay forever!" KnightinGale was getting battered and lashed by the tendrils protruding from her current foe. She watched as its health bar dropped steadily just from being in contact with her shield. This was her place. The immovable object to hold back the tides of wrath. She would not let a single one through. Not so long as she drew breath. She couldn't risk them getting to her sister, wherever she may be in this floating castle. A defiant howl roared throughout the immediate area. Eve continued to push back the offending mob before it burst into shards. The barricades still needed her attention and quickly she rushed back to the defensive line, doing what she could to keep the mobs at bay. Riardon 0 Posted 8 hours ago #12 Share Posted 8 hours ago (edited) "We'll need more reinforcements here," Riardon spoke pointing to an area of the beachfront of the Black nearest the ongoing battle. "The raiders' flank will be exposed. What doesn't help is that is also where the STY/L concert is being held. The biggest problem is we're running low on able fighters." Rairdon looked over his shoulder to the makeshift infirmary. So many low level players had headed the call to arms, and the few first aid users were struggling to keep up with the increasing demand. Every few seconds, another squad of players would be escorted in with shouts and demands for treatment. Health Points were becoming a scarce resource as many of the able body first aid users were already starting to run out of energy. Cooks were hard at work in the makeshift kitchens doing their best to maintain a decent stock of Vitality foods. "What's the status on the sword?" Another strategist asked openly to their group. "One of my guildmates was running it," Riardon chimed in, his attention returning to the ongoing situation. This was his job and it was best not to wander too far off. "Bistro of Tracker's Alliance and Demian had it. I believe it has now been passed off to another group." "We'll send a scout team to check on their status." "Probably for the best. Perhaps send a field medic with them as well just in case they need a quick touch up." The command team all nodded in agreeance. So far this small group of players had managed to coordinate so many fresh warriors who barely knew how to swing a sword into some semblance of a defensive force. Riardon's idea of focusing less on fighting offensively against the mobs had been going well so far. As for the sword, all the team knew was that they needed to get the sword to its home, as deduced by Riardon's initial appraisal. Where that location was, he had no idea. They had sent out a scouting squad to see if they could locate the supposed return location, but so far their efforts had proved unfruitful. The battle raged on at The Black. Riardon had made sure the command team had a good view of all aspects, taking over the upper floor of a tavern. The raid party was holding their own for now, but time would only tell. Foyle 0 Posted 4 hours ago #13 Share Posted 4 hours ago (edited) “Thirteen…“ “Fourteen…” “Fifteen…” One by one, eldritch horrors had their eyes turned into the prize of dart boards as a hail of pointy death with black and red fletching punctured each one in turn. Nested on high ground with perfect vantage over their surroundings, Foyle felt like he was the one floating in the barrel and surrounded by an ocean of fish. There was certainly no shortage of targets. “Sixteen…” The land itself wriggled and writhed in every direction as the tentacled horde undulated, tightening its grip over their few remaining holdings. Every shot counted. Every enemy felled bought them another tick in reverse on salvation’s clock. To the north and west, sky touched horizon in the same solid shape of utter black. There, the frontlines had been summoned. The fateful call, only hours old, had stripped Iltridge bare of defenders. Only a handful remained, the rest too tired, wounded or mentally broken to wield weapons any longer. “Seventeen…” “Eighteen...” Thank goodness the bow spawned its own ammunition. Without this implausible reality, they’d all be much worse for all their wear. Something streaked between finger-like funnel clouds that seemed to spew forth even more horrors everywhere they touched ground. "It's back! Keep your eyes skyward, lads and ladies. We can't have anyone else lose their heads." If only he didn't mean it literally. That poor young woman had lost hers during the beast's first pass, none of them having been expecting an aerial attack. Foyle had been hunting ever since, furious for failing to spot it first and ever wondering if each lost player might be the granddaughter he still harboured hope to someday find amidst this mad, mad world. "Jeeves," he called over his shoulder, next shot notched and waiting for his elusive prey to dare show itself again. "Have you noticed any pattern to its movements or timing? Anything we can use?" *** Slaughtering Mobs (R5 Weapon Skill) | ID 247597 | LD 17+5=22 Running total: 124+22=146 *** GUILD RANK 5 (+5% col, +5% EXP) Spoiler Name: Foyle True Tier: 4 Level: 34 Paragon Level: 0 HP: 720/720 EN: 106/106 Stats: Damage: 21 Mitigation: 78 Accuracy: 5 Battle Healing: 36 Stealth Rating: -2 AA REC: 8 FLN: 8 BRN: 56 STC: 40 Equipped Gear: Weapon/Armor/Trinket: - Perdition's Reach | T4 Demonic Weapon (Projectile) | AA | Burn I | Static I | Fallen I Armor/Trinket: - Ashigaru's Bond | T4 Demonic | Light Armor | MIT II, REC II Shield/Armor/Trinket: - basalt. | TIER 1 JEWELRY | ACC III Combat Mastery: - Combat Mastery: Damage R3 Combat Shift: - ST Shift Skills: - Battle Healing R5 - Energist - Light Armor R5 - Projectile Weaponry R5 Extra Skills: - Assault Mode - Forgotten King's Authority Addons: - Focus - Precision - Resolve - Stamina Mods: - Meticulous Battle Ready Inventory: - laurel earcuffs. | TIER 1 JEWELRY | LD III x1 - Starter Healing Potions (Heals 50 HP) x3 Edited 3 hours ago by Foyle
Suzume 0 Posted 3 hours ago #14 Share Posted 3 hours ago “You’re sure it’s not stupid?” Kyra glanced up from her work, the healing crystal she held over the Player’s prone form bathing her round face in green light. “I’m sure it’s not stupid,” she answered, her voice only loud enough to be heard over the storm. Despite the chaos raging around them, the woman appeared poised. At ease, even. And as it always did, that soothed Suzume immensely. “Promise?” One of Kyra’s perfectly sculpted eyebrows lifted. “Would I lie to you, Suzume?” Su narrowed her eyes, studying her companion through the darkness. Then she blew out the breath she’d been holding, and drawled, “Noooo, you wouldn’t.” “Then there you go.” Kyra’s gaze dropped from Su to the Player laid out in front of her. “And there you go,” she said cheerfully, sliding an arm under the Player’s back, and helping him into a sitting position. On his other side, Suzume did the same. “Only jump back in when you’re ready,” Su instructed. “Your health is back, but that doesn’t mean your brain’s up to speed. Take it easy.” With a nod, the man jogged off, and the two women climbed to their feet. “You should get up there,” Kyra stated gently, nodding in the direction of the stage. “Your ladies are waiting for you.” Suzume’s lips drew into a tight line. “So singing in the middle of a war zone isn’t stupid?” Kyra let out a soft chuckle. “Music has been used in warfare for centuries, to give commands-” she placed her hand on the small of Su’s back and nudged her forward, “-and to raise morale. Go use the gift you’ve been given.” A few minutes later, Suzume burst onto the stage, her heels clipping as long legs carried her to her mark. “Sorry,” she whispered to her bandmates, before throwing her arms wide. “This is for you all!” she cried out, gesturing to the Players battling for their lives. “Thank you for your courage!” Quote Lyrics from POP/STARS by KD/A, do not count towards the total word count.
