[F19-PP-PT] Proving a Point #5 (SOW: The Colossal Shadow Part 5)

Recommended Posts

Getting into the boat that Gaius rowed over, she couldn't stop laughing at the way he looked. Helping him pull out the gunk on his frame. Still picking fish chunks out of Gaius's hair with a bit of laughter attacked to it. "Did you see that swan dive. That was higher than any diving board I've ever been on." You could hear the excitement her her voice as she spoke. "If I didn't duck under water when I did this would of been me too" a small chuckle. Regardless of quest they were taking or where they were going, she was having a blast. More so because she got to hang out with him with no interruptions. It was nice, the only thing that would make this better would of been stashing food away for later. Walking, they had a little bit to go before getting to the next quest in chain.

With a grumble covered in Moretsuna guts, the man plucks a section of fish out of his hair and sits down on the little boat. Reaching for the paddles he'd begin to whisk himself toward Freya before hoisting her up onto the boat. They'd need to head back inland according to the little quest box that had since assaulted his vision, proving that this part of the journey was over in a heartbeat. The next seemed to elude upward, to floor 19 which the main pained his thoughts trying to remember what the hell that entailed. But all he ended coming up with is a little strain and the potential to blow a blood vessel. Gaius wasn't a thinker, he was a man of action. So instead he'd play muscle and row away. Returning the raft, he'd follow behind Freya as she'd read eagerly the next steps. Floor 19 was abysmal. "The swamp floor...." Gaius expressed a bit defeated, the last time it was so humid he was wet most of an afternoon. But if this was the 'thing to do' then he'd oblige despite any hang ups. As soon as they arrived it was raining, because of course it was. The slapping noises of peoples hurried feet as they'd move around, the hiss of fires as he'd pass by.

"Hey at least you will get all the fish guts off" she would say with a smile as she noticed that he was a bid disgruntled about the rain. It wasn't so bad, for now. If the thunder storms started there was going to be a problem. Of all this things that she could and should be freaked out about, a full on storm with thunder and lightning always got the best of her. Rain was fine, hail was fine, hell even Gaius's winds and tornado's were perfectly fine. She did not know why she got so freaked out by natures tantrums but she did. As they walked further into the swamp lands, fog would begin to roll onto them. She would squint and see something gigantic in the small distance. "Hey, I think I found it" point out watched some massive rock creature walking toward them. They would start walking toward it in a fast pace.

Quest Objective: Searching for <<Colossus>> with an LD of 15+
256811 | LD:17 + 7 = 24 FOUND Colossus

Player:
Freya | HP: 1020/1020 | EN: 140/140 | DMG: 32 | MIT:0 | ACC:6 | AA  | PHASE | EVA:3 | BH:56 | VAMP-O: 168 | REC: 4 | BLD: 48 | LD: 7

Enemy:
Colossus | HP: 1400/1400 | MIT: 75 | EVA: -2
This boss uses its own BD roll when attacking.

  • Weak Points | Weak points can be found on both hands, chest, and head. These can only be attacked up to three times each before the weak point is gone, and you have to move onto the next one. If you miss attacking it, it will not count as using one of the three chances. [Note: To climb to a weak point, you must spend 2 Posts climbing to it, and this goes for every weak point.]
  • Oblivious | Since the boss is so large and you have to hold on and climb, players have no way to get space to <<Charge>> for extra damage.  Hiding, the Surprise Attack mods and the Tracking mod similarly have no effect on the creature.
  • Shake | This boss does not attack directly. Instead, every three rotations after the boss is found, <<Colossus>> will try to "shake" the player(s) off of its body. Players have to grip onto the creature, rolling an LD as a Post Action to see how strong their grip is on the creature. The next post, <<Colossus>> will roll his own LD. If his LD is greater than the player, the player is thrown off, dealing 100 unmitiged damage to the player. They will then have to restart their climb to the next Weak Point. [Note: LD equipment and consumables can come into effect when rolling, The only +LD skills that apply are Nimble and Unhindered]

The word from Freya had him turn to follow her eyes. "Huh, how could anyone miss that?" He remarked as the objective 'find the colossus' faded to grey from the list at the side of his view. He knew he wasn't the most observant but this thing clearly dwarfed everything around it by thousands of feet, what a weird quest. Did it turn invisible or something? His weapon dripping with fish is spun sending piles of the junk spraying off it. Tightening his grip shortly after, he leaps and bounds with surprising speed slamming into the things leg like a climber. Braced he starts to seek out crags and cracks along its surface to ascend. The thought occurred to just leap atop it, but its likely he'd just straight out miss the landing given how big this things leg span was. It was far better to just climb it manually.

Leaping up to one of the sporadic shaped rocks made this figure, "Ah maybe someone that was completely blind, or blind folded would be more accurate in game setting." It was true, from what she could tell people that had those debilitation just didn't have them while in the game. Watching every step and grab she took, she was determined to get up. She was heading for the head and she was making great head wind. This was like the rock climbing wall in gym class but was at a much more advanced setting. A smile painted across her face as she pictured Lanna getting a few feet up the climbing wall and falling on her ass in front of the whole class. The girl had written it off as the rock moved itself. Freya shakes the thought out of her head and tried to figure out what she was going to do when she actually got up there. Did regular metal actually work? Thinking as she climbed, this was easy, she just hoped that she didn't take a nose dive.

Every step from the thing had them moving huge swaths of land very quickly, and a breeze form on every motion from it. Gaius was worming his way around its armpit like a mite, hopping from its side to an arm. Rocks crumble from colossus as he lands, hard and clambers for the first thing he can hold on to. He manages to find solid footing before he turns and leaps to the space on the things torso, where the big glowing yellow spot was. That looked as prime a spot as any to hit something, not that Gaius was much of a gamer but he wasn't so out of the loop that the yellow paint on important things would go unnoticed. Anchoring in, he would start to settle in and try to get himself solid enough to actually make an attack on this thing. Now how, was still up in the air. No pun intended.

Seeing Gaius get to his holding spot, glancing up. There was just a little bit more to go. Her arms were starting to get a bit tired but she would push through. Mind over matter is what she kept repeating in her head. As she finally gets up to the head she would take a break and smile. A small glow in between two sections of the rock would show the weak spot. All she had to do what find her baring now. Figure out how the hell she was going to hold on and attack at the same time. Grabbing her scythe from her back, glancing down. Swallowing hard, if she fell it was really gonna hurt. Holding on tightly as she readjust herself to get to the other side of the head. One foot was placed in the eye socket as the other was just hovering there for the moment as she tried to figure out what she was doing.

The polearm held precariously and awkwardly being drug around constantly scraping against colossus from its length, the man holds on as tight as he can. "Ain't getting too much space...." The man mutters to himself, finally managing to dock the 6 foot rod over his shoulder. His stamina begins to supercharge the thing, chunks ripping off of that yellow bar in bigger sections. "I don't have time to wait... please." Gaius remarks to Brionac in a low prayer, expecting nothing but asking for everything. The weapon blooms slow but then sparks and shudders, the tip gleaming like a trapped star. "Really.... Was it always so simple?" The dragoon comments with a bout of confusion on his tone. His left hand clamps hard on his anchor, and Brionac roars forward like a chisel. The weapon slips into the yellow glow like a chisel through stone, and a surge of starlight causes a blowback out of its back. A shotgun blast of stone rips out of its back, sending it like a catapult across the earth in heavy boulders. Tanos begins to shutter and shake, having acknowledged the dragoon's existence and not at all agreeable to it. That shit clearly hurt.

Freya's hand would slip, FUCK. The massive size creature would begin to shake. The rain was making it impossible to hold on to the slick rocks. Placing her weapon back on her back hoping to get a better grip but then one of her feet slip off where she thought was secure. Trying to grab to another but them nothing... She was falling. Was this the end, of all the things that could of taken her out, was she really going to die from fall damage. In a quick glance she would see Gaius struggling to hold on too. "GAIUS" she would call out as loud as she possible could unsure if he would be able to hear him. She would close her eyes as she fell through the air. Tears would fall up from her closed eyes as she waited for impacted with her hand reached out to Gaius unsure what he could actually do.

If his LD is greater than the player, the player is thrown off, dealing 100 unmitigated damage to the player. They will then have to restart their climb to the next Weak Point. [Note: LD equipment and consumables can come into effect when rolling, The only +LD skills that apply are Nimble and Unhindered]

Standard Recovery +4 EN, CoDL fades, At Weak Point -> Attacks Available {2/3}

A sudden shriek from Freya has his attention snap to, as Brionac is ripped out like a hot knife. The blowback had left the colossus's abdomen crumbling and cracking and his grip faltering. A sudden gust of wind wraps around and creates a torrential sweep of leaves and debris as Gaius leaps from Tanos straight toward the ground. The space he leaves is sucked into a vacuum and a sweep of air, and within mere moments Gaius collides with Freya and tucks and folds. Slamming into the earth with his right shoulder, Brionac piercing shortly after straight up like a flag pole. A torn shoulder and a streak of red on his skin just beneath it, having been shredded by the rough hewn stone as his focus is on checking her for damage. "I'm supposed to be the one flying around and falling.... Try not to steal my thing, yeah?" The man smiles and chuckles but once. Quickly hoisting off of him and leaping to his feet himself. "Now lets move before we get stepped on." The dragoon barks ripping his polearm free and pointing it Tanos, a roar of the typhoon as his intent is reciprocated by a skill trigger.

Feeling something warm grasp her, the breath she was holding was let out as she tucks herself in closer. A sharp impact, damage done. Her brows narrow as she smiles "I'll try to remember that." Rain still pouring as she looks up to see a large foot coming their way. A simple nod to his comment as she would stand. At one point he look very worried, that made her happy. "Lets finish this and hope he don't do whatever the fuck that was again." Eyes quickly dart around for a crevice that she could grab. Finding one she would look back to Gaius for a moment "Thank you" giving him an endearing smile. She wanted to stay but this thing had to die and it wasn't going to kill over with them just standing there. She would take a deep breath looking up as she leaps once more and began to climb again. She would end this one way or another, she did not want to put Gaius through that again. The man blocked her from damage that could of been much worse, she would show him more gratitude after this thing was gone. She would climb as fast as she could as water splashed against her face.

Standard Recovery +4 EN, Battle Healing +32 HP, Recovery | 256816, CD: 8 (+8 EN)

Leaping at an angle low and latching onto that leg as it tries to usher past, Gaius locks in and begins to scale Tanos again with hurried hands. Seeking out spaces to tuck his fingers, becoming rigid to support his wait before moving the next. His boots plunged into any space large enough to encompass them, all the while darker thoughts of irritation on how much more of a chore it was to climb a boss just to hit it although they'd seemed to done quite a bit of damage to it already. In the back of his mind he'd keep a unspoken vigil to make sure if Freya were to go all topsy turvy again he'd be ready to make the plunge and catch her again. That was his only major priority, the boss would die eventually. It spoke to his growth, where a while back killing the boss would have been his first priority and safety second. All those drills and instructions had left a subconcious impression the sweeping typhoon.

Battle Healing +54 HP

Slightly seeing her health tick back up, she could not help but look down to find Gaius to make sure he was doing okay. The phrase -I will catch you when you fall- was very accurate here because he literally did. As she would climb her mind would race, the climbing thing was easy but the staying on part was difficult. Gaius had saved her life once more, not only mentally but physically now too. He was a really great man and she wanted to spend the rest of her life with him. She never thought that she would find that one person, Gaius was that one, he was it for her. This made her very happy. Getting to the head once more, she was determined not to fall again. She was going to end this thing once and for all. Instead of standing in its eyes sockets she would stand it the tiny holes that looked to be his nose. This gave her a better grip on all ends, pulling her weapon from her back she would get ready to attack the shiny thing on his head.

Battle Healing +32 HP

The long and arduous task that was climbing up Tanos wasn't exactly easy. Beads of sweet forming on his brow, thankfully with how fucked his clothes were he had plenty of airflow. Grasping at lumps of moss that break away, tracing seams with his eyes trying to seek out spaces that would support his weight. All the while chunks of the rock titan crumble away and bits of granite shrapnel skitter down the outer body like a landside. The games closest rendition of actual mountain climbing, when it entails hanging onto a big moving building. That made his thoughts jump to the ancient, why didn't that thing move nearly as fast as this dork? No where near as hard to deal with. And it was a lot more durable if his memory served. "Give it hell!" Gaius remarks spotting Freya cresting its forehead like a tiny blip, he wasn't in position yet but she was. This may well be over, as she assured her footing.

Battle Healing +54 HP

Slightly moving her feet in further, she would hear Gaius call out. She would smile as she could see the weak point that was just out of reach with her hands, good thing her weapon could reach. Gripping a stone tight with her left as she pulls her scythe back and plunges the tip into a small split in his head. With would start to glow like it was doing something but it wasn't enough. She would take a deep breath as she would slowly move her other hand to the hilt. With as much force as she could, the entire curve of her weapon digs deep within the crevice. The large head would start to shift backwards, she would quickly pull her weapon as the thing completely explodes leaving them falling again. She would shift herself in the air but this time it was planned, while looking at Gaius his winds were already allow him to hover. He was already reaching his arms out to Freya to catch her. Slamming into him with a chuckle, wrapping her legs around his waist and her arms around his neck while she snuggles against his chest. "Kaboom" she would say in a muffled voice against his chest as the winds slowly bring them down to safe landing.
