[PP-F5] Cleaning Sand (Complete) <<Blood in the Sand>> (Alkor, Claim)

Recommended Posts

As this is a boss battle, a perma roller will be used for combat rolls.

Tristan waited outside Phoenix Fire Tailoring, the shop owned by his fellow guild comrade Alkor. Today, they would be taking on a boss that resided on the desert floor at floor 5. He wished he took some sun-tan lotion with him, though he felt that would probably not alleviate the issue, since he wan't sure if you had to even mind for such things in SAO. Did it try to calculate how long you were out in the sun and change your skin colour accordingly?

Well anyway, Tristan breathed slowly and let the heat try not to warm him too much, however much that was possible, and waited for Alkor. He heard that Claim was coming too, who ran with him for the Avalanche Quest. He also kinda owed that man his life, as alone he would have never managed it. Then again, the same could be said the other way around.

Alkor closed up shop quickly and quietly as he walked out, and the door seemed to mystically react to his commands in the menu with due haste. When he looked up and saw Tristan, Alkor nodded his greeting. "Looks like we're just about ready," Alkor said in no particular hurry to create conversation. Unlike seemingly all of the other members of his guild, he wasn't at all outspoken.

He gave Tristan plenty of time to send out the party invite, ensuring that all his gear was intact and equipped, and he pulled his hood slowly over his head to obscure most of his features. In this game, he preferred to forget who he was and focus on his goal. He preferred for others to see him more like a shadow and less like a player.

"The repeatable boss on the fifth floor," he mused, scratching his head. "Wonder if it's anything like that fourth floor boss, Avalanche." He said it not thinking that Tristan would know anything about the encounter. After all, these bosses were mostly found from rumors that came at the lips of information dealers. Some of them were faulty, some of them weren't. All of them were costly.

"I hope its easier. Avalanche gave me a real knocking." Tristan said with slight jest in his voice. He was not kidding though, that boss really brought him to his knees. Hopefully this time though, with now as three people, when Claim decided to show up, they would be able to tackle this shark with ease.

Tristan and Alkor walked to the more populated part of Floor 9 where the teleport was, from where they teleported to the blazing heat of Floor 5. It was bricks, sand and more sand. And no less heat than the blaze of Floor 9. "Well at least the temperature is a polar opposite, I'll give you that."

He wondered what Alkor would be like in combat, since they had never partied before for a quest.

He made his ways to the Phoenix Fire Tailoring Shop he opened up his map and follow it as he thought to him self he stretched out his arm a bit as he walked he mumbled to him self ~ Another min boss this should be fun and it with Tristan if it wasn't for him he wouldn't have gotten the skill points or anything I might have died if he tried it on his own~   . HIs green eyes glowed a bit as he looked around and saw Tristan and another player he popped his on back as he got closer to them " Hey " a little smile appeared on his face as he looked at them. He saw them walk off to the teleport He had read over some of the quest and warped over to floor 5 and was right behind them.

"He was," Alkor considered, "a very interesting encounter. Brutish, powerful, but not quick on his feet." Alkor opted to leave it at that; the other players had a different experience with the mini boss, and it seemed that they had cut it much closer. Still, Alkor hadn't had a supremely easy time whittling away the monster's health. There were moments where he'd gotten caught in the snow drift and couldn't find a home for his strikes.

When Claim came along, the golden-eyed swordsman, clad in dark colors and hooded, offered a smirk and a nod. "And three makes it a full party." With a step forward, Alkor placed a hand on his weapon's hilt and bowed his head. "I'm Alkor," he told the newcomer, "now, let's see about finding that boss, hmm?"

He turned and headed for the dusty floor beyond the town, his cloak wafting in the dry wind behind him.

Tristan nodded to Claim and agreed with Alkor. "Yeah, let's find this crazy thing."

They wandered out towards the desert, the rolling plains of sand for what seemed to be miles. It was also a long way that they walked to to even try and find this monster.

However, eventually something came into view. A shark flew out of the sand in grace and then fell back into the sand. "Is that...what I think it is?"

He nodded at bother of them and said" Nice to meet you Alkor. The names Claim."  The thing moved a little to fast for claim to get a good look at it but from what he could see it looked like it Had taken a good size of the ugly tree forest down before it came to this floor. He looked back at the others. As he gripped his sword " Well at less there not that hard to find."

In a short motion, Alkor drew his blade and took a deep breath. "Nope," he murmured, "not hard to find at all."

Without waiting for them to come up with a plan- they didn't have time for that, now- Alkor broke away from the other two and called out. "Don't stand too close together," he yelled, "let's attack from different angles!"

He kicked up sand and dust into the harsh wind as he circled out to the boss' flank. From there, he'd mount his offensive. His speed was augmented by skill points invested in the sprint stat, which doubled in effect to make him difficult to hit. Combined with the stat bonuses from his <<Lionheart Cloak>>, Alkor was among the hardest targets to hit on Aincrad.

Of course, that would prevail him nothing if he couldn't strike true. "Bah," he rasped as he swung for the boss, still burrowed beneath the sand, and it simply seemed to disappear from his HUD. "Careful," he called, "it's a slippery little bugger!"

Tristan was already on the case for an offence. He jumped forward with his spear to attack the enemy with a jumping lunge. He also however merely hit sand. Tristan cursed, but then remembered he had a Perfect Monster Grenade for them to use. He would use it after the enemies first attack, when Claim had also the chance to attack. For now though, he waited, his grenade ready to throw when needed.

Seeing the other two attack he ran to the back side of the monster. He grabbed the hilt of his sword as he unsheathed his sword with his right hand. He looked over the monster and tried to swings the blade as the back leg. he blink in mid swing. The monster must have see him come from the back and move. The tip of the blade had missed the monster. He took a good jump back as he looked at the monster " I missed"

The Sand Shark dodged swiftly around the three men that attacked him with ease, as though used to being hunted. It screeched, taunting them and dug into the sand. They then came out flying towards Alkor to hit them, but when the monster thought they were about to get their prey, teeth glaring against the sunlight, the mouth hit the sand rather comedically. The shark looked around confused, having not noticed that Alkor was simply so fast that he had dodged the attack.

The Sand Shark screamed in rage as it turned to face the group.

Dodging deftly away from the menacing jaws of the boss, Alkor nimbly spun his blade round and skidded in the sand, digging a small trench as he slid just out of the shark's reach. The boss rounded and let out an angry wail, signaling both its rage and intent to strike again.

Before that could happen, though, Alkor was on the move. Ripping through the distance between them, Alkor brought his blade to bear in a clean arc. When it lashed through the boss and left a thin red line along the beast's side, small fragments of data scurrying skyward, Alkor smirked.

"So you do bleed, just like the rest of us." Alkor spun in a quick, short motion to face the boss with his blade out ahead of him defensively. "It's quick," he said loud enough for everyone to hear. "And it can burrow."

They probably had already noticed, but he felt a need to compile a list of skills nonetheless. If they kept up with what the creature was capable of, they would be better able to counteract it. Strategy was the key to staying alive, especially in a world like SAO.

Tristan now threw the grenade at the monster, which emitted the sound of a Hang Drum playing, which utterly confused the monster. The Sand Shark had poor eyesight, but sensitive hearing, so this was of no help toward this monster. The Perfect Monster grenade was his trump card in the battle as it would altogether give them four hits at the monster until it attacked at them again.

Claim gets 4 hits to attack, Alkor 3.

Tristan thrust forward with spear, stabbing towards the Sand Shark. He didn't stop though, as he continued attacking in the time left open by the monster to thrust at them from three more angles, before stepping back into position. The spear managed to hit two of the four times, piercing the fins of the monster and leaving clear marks, streaked with blood.

He looked over the best again this time he would rush the monster and smiles a bit as the grip on his sword tighten as ran up behind it again he slashed the back part of its leg he would then stab just under its arm then pull out his sword and the rest of his hits he cut long the side of the monster. Before he jump a back and out of the way as he looked back at the group.

Instead of attacking this turn, it seemed Alkor had taken the opportunity to get his leg stuck in quicksand. In a concentrated effort to free himself, our hero loses all three of his attacks.

Rage.

The Sand Shark got hacked to bits by two of the men, while the slippery one managed to somehow slip into the sand. Luckily for them though, they weren't the target but Tristan was. The shark dashed at them, but missed completely, hitting the sand beside them.

He managed to free himself from the entanglement, but the Shark was more than 40 meters away at this point. Breaking into a jog to rejoin the fight, Alkor wiped a sleeve across his brow and frowned. "Well, the worst of this is virtually the landscape," he muttered.

He had a plan to finish the boss, but it would take time and the group would need to regroup first.

He looked over at Alkor and Tristan and see them both miss. He let out a sigh as he looked back at the monster. His eyes would glow a bit as he rushed the best a few feet away he jump up a few feet in the air. The blade glowed black and put off a hatefully aura in the area around them. Swings his sword half of the blade cut in to the monster back piercing the skin as if I was nothing, he pulled the blade back the monsters blood flew out of the cut and covered his sword and the ground. He jumped 5 feet back the monster blood would drip from his blade as he looked at it his sword would stop glowing.

The Sand Shark was only hit by one of the swordsmen, but they screamed as the hit on them was painful, ripping a wing. The shark was not happy by any means at all, swimming around them in the sand in anger, ready to pounce out when they were not watching to make them food. The Sand Shark flew out of the sand to the air and landed on its feet, its mouth full with sand. The mouth then spouted out a beam of sand at Tristan, looking ready to give him the need for some goggles. However Tristan was prepared, hitting the sand aside with the glowing sword skill of his spear, using the blade to fully deflect the sand and moved forward, ramming the spear into the head of the sand shark.

Tristan parried, consuming his combat turn. Alkor and Claim can still attack.
