[SP - F2] Ode to Sleep [Completed]

[Lessa 1]

"The sun is coming up." Her father said suddenly. He looked out over the water, the first traces of sunlight illuminating his features. There was so much kindness in his face. That kindness had been his greatest gift to his daughter. And he did not turn to her before he spoke his final words. "I love you."

 

Lessa's eyes flew open. Though her surroundings came into focus slowly, the memory of her dream burned hot in her mind. 

 

And as the sun broke free of the horizon's hold and continued its slow ascent, its light filtering through the leaves of the tree she was perched in, Lessa wept.
