PP - F1 Valor and the Knight (Lowenthal) (Completed)

Calrex gave a friendly smile before a contemplating look in his head, "Hm...you know I really wouldn't know. I've only seen her go swimming once, and that time she was equipped in the avatar's undergarments, which is a two piece outfit. I personally think she's look great in anything, but I can't say that without admitting I'm probably biased."

 

He gave another swig of his drink before continuing, "If anything though if I ever find out I'll be sure to put a commission into your shop."

Lowenthal looked at Calrex like he was bored. Not the reaction he was hoping for, but close enough for him. "What about you? What were you doing before the game?" Lowenthal asked. "I told you some of my stuff, now it's your turn." Lowenthal said, trying to keep the conversation moving.

[Calrex 0]

"Me, well nothing really special. I worked for a tech company before this and lived on my own in an apartment complex. Other than that everything else about me was fairly ordinary."

 

Calrex decided to down the rest of his drink, quickly doing so before he set the glass back down, "Two Bourbon Highballs down. Yeah I'd probably be feeling it by now if we were not in the game."

Lowenthal saw him down his second drink. "I'm pretty sure nothing is ordinary anymore. And you must be adapting very well, with that kind of background." Lowenthal looked at the table. 

[Calrex 0]

"Heh, well I think I adapted quickly more because I've played games since I was young than any education I earned for the job. A lot of the things in this game, although daunting at first, do follow some very familiar AI patterns that other games have done in the past."

 

Calrex gave a calming breath as some of the ice in his drink redistributed with a small clank, "But really I have to think everyone that helped get me started. I've seen a few starting players go out into the fields right from the get go and never come back. Trying to do battle right from the beginning can prove to be more deadly than any boss we could possibly encounter."

Lowenthal rocked back and forth in his chair. "So, have you been in a boss fight before?" He asked, already knowing the answer was most likely yes.

[Calrex 0]

"Actually no, but I've head many things from other players about the previous boss battles. In the one right before this last one they actually lost a couple of players, the first time ever in the course of this game that it happened. I hope to be strong enough that I can begin participating soon."

 

"From what I've seen I've gotten strong enough, at least in level, to rival Kiru and some other high level players, but nowhere even remotely close enough to rival Mari and Zelrius."

Lowenthal gulped. He remembered the fallen people on the memorial. "I want to fight too." Lowenthal said.  He put his hands on his lap, slowly clenching them into fists. "If I can, I want. No, I need to become stronger." Lowenthal looked at Calrex. "I don't want to lose anyone. Not now, not ever." He said, quietly.

Calrex gave an approving nod as he gave another friendly smile, "That's good to hear. Definitely apply that drive to your training and adventures. I feel the exact same. If I can I want to protect everyone I care about. I'd rather not lose anyone else if I have the power to keep it from happening."

 

With that Calrex looked and saw Lowenthal's smoothie about empty, "Like a refill on that?"

Lowenthal nodded his head. "Yeah, another 'Fruit Thingie' would be good." Lowenthal said, passing his cup to Calrex. Lowenthal placed his chin on his hands.

[Calrex 0]

Calrex gave a nod as he took both of their glasses back to the bartender, getting them refilled before heading back, sliding Lowenthal's drink to him, "You're smoothie sir, heh."

 

With that he sat down and took another swig of his drink, "Hm...anything else you wanted to talk or ask me about?"

[Lowenthal 0]

Lowenthal took another swig of his drink. There was defiantly strawberry in it, and another flavour. He couldn't quite place it. "Well, I'm sure that I know enough about you. You wanna know anything about me?" He asked Calrex, staring into his drink.

[Calrex 0]

"Hm...well I won't ask for anything you don't feel like telling me."

 

He took another swig of his drink as he gathered his thoughts, "There is one thing that's got me curious right now though."

 

"I can understand why you want to get stronger to protect your sister and others, but I'm wondering why you're interested in the idea of a hero. I mean, a lot of people like the idea of one and possibly becoming one, but you seem to have stronger drive to actually act and try to turn into one."

[Lowenthal 0]

Lowenthal looked at Calrex, somewhat confused. "Well, I guess it's like this."  He tried to explain, as best as he could. "Well, easiest answer is I don't know. I guess I just want to be viewed as a hero, rather then just plain ol' me." Lowenthal said, scratching his head. He didn't know why he wanted to be a hero. Perhaps it was a complex he had.

[Calrex 0]

"Hm...fair enough I think I understand."

 

Calrex gave an understanding nod as he gave another smile, "Well I'm all for trying to make oneself better than they normally are, but just be careful alright?"

 

With that he downed his drink again, setting the glass back on the table, "In any case that was about all I was curious about. Nothing really else comes to mind that I wanted to ask you."

[Lowenthal 0]

Lowenthal let out a sigh. "Jeez, you ask the tough ones." He said, setting his chair back on the ground. "Almost like a job interview." He said, laughing at his joke.

[Calrex 0]

"Heh, sorry about that. I have a strange tendency to do that at times. I like to know where people are coming from. It kind of helps me understand them a little bit better. I don't want to aggravate anyone unintentionally by pressing any buttons if I can help it."

 

Calrex put a hand behind his head apologetically as he put on a joking smile, "In any case enough of the serious stuff. Hm...let's see..."

 

He looked at his time as he looked back over, "Was there anything else you needed to take care of today? I don't want to hold you back from anything. I'm sure your sister might be wondering where you're at."

[Lowenthal 0]

Lowenthal chuckled at Calrex. "No No, it's fine." He said. "Sis is fine, she's probably at a cafe somewhere." He said waving his hands. 

[Calrex 0]

As Lowenthal assured Calrex on his sister's location he gave a nod, "Well if you're sure then no worries."

 

Calrex leaned back in his chair as he relaxed his sitting position, "Well how about this then. We'll grab one more refill, then I probably should get moving. Sound good?"

[Lowenthal 0]

Lowenthal looked at him. "Sounds good." It was kinda sad, knowing that his friend had to go. But so did he. Lowenthal had to go out to. He had to find his sister anyway. And as much fun as Calrex was, Lowenthal would have to find and meet other people to get on with this world.
