[17992] LD: 19 (17+2) Material Found

He had found his next spot. There were a few logs laying about just left of him and they looked promising. Oikawa headed right for them. Checking the log closest to him, he was excited when a glowing ore inserted itself into his inventor as he reached for inside the hollowed out trunk. "Five more to go King. Stay alert." There were a few more logs that could be checked, so Oikawa headed towards them.

The second log was broken in half. After thorough and careful inspection of both halves, Oikawa deemed that both were useless since they didn't have anything mine-able within them. There is  one other log over here. I'll check that one then head to the watering hole on the other side. After that, we're packing up and heading home. Oikawa and King then headed for the remaining log.

The last log was just the same as the second one, barren. He checked and double checked before looking all around the group of logs and sighing to himself. nothing again. This is just depressing. All I wanted to do was find a few materials for my shop. Is that too much to ask for? Gesturing for the leopard cub to follow, Oikawa led the way towards the watering hole. If I don't find something here I'm gonna be a little mad haha..but seriously...

The watering hole had two possible places it could hold ores and ingots. The "spout" and the reservoir. Oikawa opted to check the "spout" first. The spout was simply a crevice in the wall that the water, had it not been frozen, would flow out of. Inspecting the area and the wall surrounding it, the blonde came to the conclusion that the spout had nothing to offer. "Alright, reservoir it is."

The reservoir was a hole in which the water flowed into. Had this lake been unfrozen, Oikawa was sure this is where certain mobs would come to drink their fill. Replicating the tendencies of animals in the real world. Scanning the surface, gleaming rocks caught his eye as he tried to see through the large frozen sheet of ice. Drawing his rapier, Oikawa thrusted it into the reservoir and smashed the ice allowing him to reach for a Frost Ingot.

Surprisingly, he was ready to move on and go home when another glinting Ingot came wading through the now unfrozen watering hole. Oikawa figure the material had been knocked loose from the impact he had on the watering hole. Touching it, the material shimmered before adding itself to his inventory. Two in a row! Maybe I can reach my quota of twelve. Excited, the player then sheathed his blade and looked around for his familiar.

Oikawa spottted the cub pawing at something near the watering hole's edge. It was a bright blue hue and gave off a rare aura. Crouching down, Oikawa inspected the item. His suddenly grew wide as he realized it was another material for crafting. His luck had just hit it's peak. Tapping the item with his index finger, it disappeared before them. Checking his inventory, Oikawa tallied up that he had now collected ten out of twelve materials.

Closing his menu, Oikawa whistled for King and looked for the path back up the slope that would lead them home. Finally locating the snowy steps, the blonde placed King on his head and began to leave the water hole. He took one last look. Scanning everything from the hole, to the water, to the surrounding patches of snow and grass. Nothing. He saw absolutely nothing worth mining. Maybe we can spot some things on the way back.

The top of the steps were a little slick, which almost caused the blonde to fall. He quickly regained his balance and started marching around the lake back to the stream. Taking a final look here as well, he noticed nothing worth collect as usual and continued around the bend to the stream. He made sure he stuck to the opposite side this time in case the Yaks wanted a rematch. He passed the ring of rocks and released a sigh of relief as the yaks from earlier seemed to be long gone.

Oikawa picked up the pace. The snow seemed to be whipping up the closer they got back to town. As he and King braved the incoming mini-blizzard, Oikawa caught a glimpse of a monster with gleaming red eyes eyeing them in the storm. Looks like we have company... "Hang tight King! We may have a battle to get through."  For safety the blond equipped his shield and sword and prepared for combat in case it came his way.

Snow whipped and whirled all around the duo as they trekked back to the safe zone within the town. Oikawa kept his eyes peeled for any materials and more importantly, the blizzard Mob that seemed to be watching them. The gates seemed just on the horizon. If only the storm would just go away, they'd be back already. But no, Kayaba apparently made it his personal goal to annoy players every chance he got.

The storm raged more and more. Luckily the settlement inched closer and closer. He continued to press on. Then the worse thing happened. The storm seemed to just suddenly become out of control. Wind speeds picked up. Snow felt like hail as it rained down from the sky and blanketed everything. Then it stopped. Subsiding in mere seconds. A low growl erupted from the settling fog like snow that drifted through the air. Red eyes pierced through the white canvas around them and gazed at the blonde. Welp, it can't be helped.

Oikawa took a battle ready stance as a yeti like monster emerged from the frosty air. Not even hesitating, the blonde smashed through the snow at lightning speed. Flicking his wrist, he barraged the monster with a collection of jabs and thrust before jumping back and catching his breath. The creature stumbled back and roared as it got ready to retaliate. This is gonna be fun...

The <Savage Yeti> beat its chest before running at the player. In  fashion similar to the knuckle-walking of gorillas and chimpanzees, the monster charged at Oikawa. Using his shield, Oikawa ran full speed at the yeti. As they were about to connect, the blonde thrusted his shield forward and to the left, knocking the mob off balance and allowing him to score an easy thrust against the ill-prepared yeti. Oikawa backed up create some distance between the two.

The battle continued to go in the blonde's favor as the yeti rushed him yet again. This time the monster never even made it as it tumbled into the snow. It apparently tripped over something. Taking advantage of the lack of focus by the mob, Oikawa again sent another thrust in the direction of the mob. As it staggered backwards, Oikawa kept the distance short. He wanted to end this as soon as possible.

This proved to be a bad decision as the yeti suddenly switched gears and threw a slugger at the blonde, knocking him back further than he would've liked. Picking himself up, he unequipped his shield and ran forward. Allowing the momentum to build up, he sent his rapier smashing through the chest of the beast as it exploded into thousands of pixels. A small loot bag remained where the beast had just stood. Collecting it, Oikawa continued on to the settlement, which seemed to be just minutes away from his location.

The blonde sheathed his blade and walked right towards the gate. It seemed that even as he came really close, his gathering skill was just too low. He missed his quota by just a single material. He was nearly through the gate when he stopped and placed his foot back down. Turning around he scanned the snowy fields for any signs of materials. He was determined to get this last material even if it took him another hour.

He started by rechecking popular material spawns. Trees, holes, tree holes and any easy locatable rock formations. Since they were popular, nothing remained, as expected. Turning towards the direction of Glacial Cove, the blonde began to head off for it. Hopefully he could find something inside that he could craft with.

Snow crunched softly beneath his feet as the entrance to the cave slowly emerged into view. King's interest picked up as usual. His home always brought him to attention. Placing the cub in the snow, Oikawa walked into the all too familiar cave and looked around.

His initial search, like that of the last thirty minutes, resulted in finding nothing. The walls that were usually line with ores and ingots alike seemed as barren as ever. He walked deeper. Opting to give a more detailed search as he investigated every crevice and crack of the first floor of the cave.

Upon careful inspection, Oikawa realized that the walls inside the cave were snow covered yet room temperature when touched. It was odd to him, but couldn't distract him for long as he continued search the cave. He was ready to give up. Hands tired from picking through snow and rocks. While his eyes were sore from looking at the same scenery. Then it gleamed. A shiny ore sitting in the middle of the cave. Are you freaking kidding me. An ore spawned right out in the open. I'm almost fed up with material gathering and this happens. Gah.. Collecting the ore, Oikawa was set to leave out and collect King when something else caught his eye.

Near the entrance and to the left, something else begin to shine. It wasn't a bright blinding light. Rather a dim barely noticeable shimmer. Intrigued, the blonde walked towards the thing in hopes of it being a treasure chest. If that was the case, he wanted to share this moment with King. Whistling, he waited for the cub to arrive before proceeding forward. "King this may or may not be our fist treasure chest. I'm kind scared and excited all at once."
