[SP-F1] Bye bye wolves

Thorrissia set out from the starting city at about midday, keen to go and find a few Dire Wolves to take on. She desperately needed to be able to buy a decent weapon and for that she was going to need col. Monster grinding it was then. The young brunette sighed wearily, tired of constantly going out grinding. What she really wanted was to have fun. Whilst she would never admit it, it was kind of lonely travelling alone all the time. Whilst there were people she knew in the game, Thorry didn't really have any friends. 

 

The sun was high in the sky, but it wasn't burning like a furnace on floor one which was nice. The brunette scanned her surroundings. Good weather for hunting. Within the space of a few minutes she managed to catch sight of a wolf scouring the wastelands. The girl equipped her weapon, ready for action.

Thorry made no attempt to disguise the fact that she was going to fight the beast so when it caught sight of her, the monster darted towards her in seconds. The girl attempted to block it's attack but she wasn't quick enough and the wolf scratched at her with it's claws. I really need to find some armour. She thought dully, taking a slightly better aimed hit at the creature and managing to hit it on the nose with her sword. The wolf yelped in pain as the blade swiped across its tender flesh and nipped at it's attacker, managing to land another strike on her. I'm really not on par today. Thorrissia thought wearily, glancing apathetically at her opponent. "You know I'd really appreciate it if you just died quietly." She sighed, slashing the sword across the monster's throat, landing a perfect strike. The creature howled hatefully at her, leaping ferociously at her and slicing at her with it's claws. You should probably move out of the way when it does that. A voice suggested helpfully in the back of her mind, but Thorry simply ignored it.

The girl lazily flicked her sword in the direction of the wolf, attempting to gash it once again. The Wolf easily dodged the weapon and attempted to snap at her heels, but Thorrissia side stepped the wolf's attack and jabbed wearily at the creature's head. The wolf hissed, ducking under her blade and sinking its teeth into her leg. That probably would've hurt in the real world, but here she was just getting a serious case of pins and needles. Fight properly you dolt. Her conscience was babbling so much it was starting to get annoying. Probably best to shut it up by doing as it told her to. Thorry's stance changed, her footwork improving and her posture straightening. This time when she went in for the attack, the wolf had no chance to avoid the strike. She sliced through it's virtual ear and the tip of it disintegrated into a shower of blue, leaving the creature without an ear. The monster screamed, trying furiously to snap at her, but Thorry was faster now that she was putting some effort in. Being five levels above this monster meant that she was considerably quicker than it, so its attack failed.

Now that she had picked up her act a bit, Thorrissia's speed dramatically increased from lazy to trying and she managed to land another critical strike upon the monster's head and when the wolf attempted to retaliate she quite easily jumped out of the way. However, when the girl tried to land another hit on the beast, she tripped on a rock and fell into the dirt. The wolf leaped on her without hesitation and began to scratch at her ankle. Not wanting to loose any more HP, Thorry growled furiously at the monster and stabbed her sword into its head, bursting it into nothingness. To her great disappointment she gained absolutely nothing from fighting the beast. No col, nothing.

Seeing as her HP was now considerably down, she figured it would be a bad idea to go directly into combat once again. May as well explore the biggest floor on Aincrad. Thorrissia sighed deeply, drawing in the fresh clean air. At least this place was better than Tokyo. The air there was not clean. The girl began her trek through the empty Aincrad grass plains, heading in no direction in particular, just milling around. There wasn't a huge amount to see on the lowest floor that she hadn't already checked out, but it was still nice to admire some of the beauty in the area. She had a check around to see if any materials would pop up that she could either sell or use, but there was nothing. It didn't look like this grinding trip was going to gain her too much.

After moving on through the grasslands, Thorrissia's hunt for loot still yielded nothing and it was starting to get ever so slightly frustrating. "Is there seriously nothing left out here?" She muttered irritably to herself, trudging quietly towards the lake district that she had actually visited not that long ago. Hopefully she wouldn't run into any more angry wolves for a little while. The weather seemed pleasant enough, although Thorry had a nagging suspicion that it might rain on them sooner or later. She would even welcome the change in weather. Whilst sun was great, it was nice to hear the sound of the rain every once in a while.

Thorrissia, finally tired of searching for something, anything, sat irritably down in the grass, chucking her sword carelessly down on the ground. Just as she was about to grump for a while, Thorry noticed something waving in the grass. A pansy! It was a collectable item! Even if it wasn't worth all that much, the girl was just so relieved to have actually found an item on her supposed grinding trip. She eagerly added it to her inventory before getting up and continuing on her way, feeling a lot more positive about the rest of the day now.

Or not. No loot to speak of. It appeared that the pansy was all to be found today. Thorry sighed wearily, heading disappointedly back towards the Starting City which was now slowly rising upon the horizon. Maybe she would try and battle one more monster, just to at least try and pick up some loot. The girl scouted around to see if any more boars or wolves would respawn, but there didn't seem to be any at the moment. Guess she would have to wait. The brunette picked a quiet spot underneath a spindly tree and waited patiently for some monsters to show up. Ever since the higher level players had killed most of them off, there were less monsters on the lower floors, but they still respawned. She would just have to be patient.

After a while of casual wondering, Thorrissia came across another rather unfriendly dire wolf. The beast was sniffing around lazily in the grass for goodness knows what. It's not like the furry terrors needed to eat or anything. Sighing with boredom, the girl flicked a stray strand of hair out of her face and drew her weapon, marching purposefully towards the beast. The wolf eyed her suspiciously as she approached, abandoning whatever interesting piece of dirt it had found in the grass and began to charge aggressively in her direction, slavering jaws ready and open for the kill. The young warrior growled back at the beast and readied her sword, but she misjudged the wolf's trajectory and her strike ended up being way off. Had she not managed to roll quickly out of the way, the monster might have managed to strike her. Unfortunately, as Thorrissia attempted to slice a hit at the nasty creature, it dived under her sword and knocked her roughly to the ground, dealing some damage to the girl's HP. "Dammit! Don't do that!" She hissed at the wolf, swiping blindly at it with her sword. The wolf jumped nimbly out of the way and tried to slash at her ankles with it's claws, but the girl dodged out of the way.

The girl attempted another slice at the wolf with her blade, but her sword missed by inches as the creature dashed around it, trying to attack its opponent. Thorrissia leaped backwards away from the creatures jaws, trying to stab the monster in the face. Sadly the wolf was more than ready for her. The creature jumped clean over her strike and pushed the brunette backwards into the dirt, stealing another one of her health points. Thorry feebly attempted to swat at the beast with her blade but the wolf was too busy trying to slice her up with its claws. The young warrior managed to clamber panting to her feet, covered in angry orange gashes.

The now slightly worn down combatant was a little disorientated and her attempts to stab her opponent were considerably less successful. The monster, sensing her weakness, took advantage of her lack of coordination and slashed it's claws across Thorrissia's face. "Agh crap!" She cried out, slicing blindly at the Dire Wolf once again and missing as before. The flurry of uncoordinated attacks seemed to confuse the beast though, so when it next attempted to snap at her Thorry easily sidestepped out of the way and smashed her weapon down upon it's head. The monster yelped in pain and began to randomly slash at the air, it's claws missing her face by inches. The girl jumped backwards, getting a better grip of her weapon, and tried to formulate a decent battle plan to take this monster down.

The whirlwind of random attacks had clearly confused the monster, disorientating it even. If she could just repeat the routine then perhaps it would lead to an easy victory. Feeling a little more confident about her strategy now, Thorrissia began to wave her sword in random arcs around the Dire wolf's head. The creature tried to follow the blue of movements, clearly extremely confused, and in its confusion she struck. This time her aim was true and her hit flawless and Thorrissia dealt the maximum amount of damage possible to the creature with her sword. The wolf screamed, a pitiful sound, and tried miserably to sink it's teeth into its opponent, but Thorry was ready and thrust her blade savagely into the monster's face. The wolf yelped and backed away. The brunette attempted to slice it's nose upon the retreat, but the beast moved too quickly and she stumbled. The monster held no qualms about taking advantage of her mistake and quickly leaped in too swat at her legs, leaving large orange rents across the side of her calf.

The sudden attack of the creature had thrown the girl quite off balance, so her next hit did not land true, but thankfully neither did the wolf's. As the beast jumped at her, Thorry dived into a forwards roll and came up kneeling next to the beast. The position gave her a chance to strike! The brunette raked the rip of her blade across the monster's exposed flank, but the beast rounded furiously on her upon feeling the impact and smacked it's paw aggressively into her side, throwing the girl aggressively across the battle field. Thorrissia landed badly, sliding through the dry dirt on her side. The wolf began to charge furiously towards her, but just as the beast was about to rip her throat out, Thorry slashed her swords upwards and the monster exploded into oblivion. No loot. "Oh come on, you're not serious are you?" She growled furiously at her lack of success. This was starting to get annoying now.

Thorrissia wasted no time in finding another monster to go and skewer. A wild boar was wondering about aimlessly and nomming upon some grass near a small outcropping of trees and Thorry was not wasting the opportunity to try and gain at least something out of this grinding trip. The girl snuck quietly up behind the beast before stabbing it rudely in in the rump. The boar squealed like a little piglet before attempting to turn the strength of it's tuck like appendages upon it's attacker. Thorrissia easily leaped out of the way of the boar and slashed the creature with her weapon once again, making the animal snort in anger and attempt to charge her down. Once again, side stepping out of the way as easy as pie and the young warrior managed to land another strike upon it's exposed backside. The time the pig became infuriated that the girl didn't have time to dodge it's attack and she stumbled backwards as the monster's sharp tusks skewered her in the stomach.

The sudden attack from the boar left Thorrissia unbalanced and a little dazed, so when she took a swing at the beast with her weapon, the slice was badly aimed and the pig quite easily dodged the blow. However, the rather uncoordinated brunette did manage to get her wits together just enough to barely get out of the way of the squealing creature's knife like tusks. The exhausted and panting female swung awkwardly at the creature's face with her sword, missing spectacularly and landing with a crash on the ground as the pig managed to spear her once again. "I'm going to deep fry you into a thousand sausages you overgrown piece of bacon!" The brunette growled at the boar, spearing it with her weapon when the creature's guard was down. The angered pig squeaked hatefully at her and once again tried to butt at her with its facial weapons, but Thorry managed to narrowly avoid the impact.

Taking advantage of the pig's failed attack, Thorrissia whammed her steel between the boar's eyes, stealing two of its HP with a critical strike and completely upsetting the monster. The creature howled in pain and tried miserably to slaughter its attacker with a badly aimed swing of it's head. The girl was forced to jump backwards, her swing missing the pig's head by a inches. The boar once again tried to skewer her, slashing it's sharp tusks across her stomach. Thorrissia frowned at the creature. "Now that wasn't very nice was it?" The brunette lashed her weapon across the monster's eyes, infuriating it. The girl didn't even have time to react as she was thrown violently backwards into the dirt.

Thorrissia's stroke of luck on being able to smack it one seemed to be running out. The girl wiped a bead of sweat off of her brow after the monster passed clean under her sword and staggered backwards, breathing raggedly. She was getting tired now. The boar snorted impatiently at it's exhausted opponent, pawing restlessly at the dirt with it's cloven hoof. Thorry glared darkly at the creature, raising her weapon once more. That was all the signal the pig needed. The monster squealed loudly and aggressively as it began to charge at her. Thinking that maybe she could intercept that attack, the girl stood her ground as the boar thundered towards her. Unfortunately her perception on how strong its attack would be was way off and the young warrior was launched hatefully into the dirt by a well timed headbutt. "Ughhhh." She groaned, stumbling to her feet.

The boar gave the beaten down warrior little time to regain her footing, for as soon as she was up and standing again, the creature once again began to charge at her. Thorry seriously wished she had some sort of red blanket or something to brandish at it whenever this happened, but alas this was a virtual pig and not a bull. The brunette took a deep breath and waited until the pig was but a few hoofbeats from her position and slashed her weapon into it's exposed side. Whilst her sword hit true, it did nothing to stop the beast's stride and once again Thorrissia was thrown backwards from the force of being impaled with its large dangerous tusks.

The pig sent her sprawling and Thorrissia rolled in a crumpled heap into the dust from the blow. After getting to her feet with some difficulty, the girl snatched hold of her fallen weapon and spat out a wad of dirt into the grass, feeling rather disgusted. Enough was enough. The brunette roared furiously at the pig and charged mercilessly towards the beast, slashing her sword tip through the monster and obliterating it forever. Thorry skidded to a halt, panting a little from lack of breath and happily looked at the loot she'd acquired. Finally. A little bit of col to add to the treasury, as well as a boar skin. The girl scrolled through her inventory and deposited her basic sword away into the vault, and instead drew out her blade of dreams. This would hopefully make her fighting a little more effective.

Thorrissia drew her blazing red weapon out of its inventory and set off instantly to find a new target to break her dream blade in. An innocent boar was standing near by, munching lazily on some grass. The brunette grinned, her sword gleaming in the sun. "Bet I can beat you faster than your cousin over there eh? You stupid hunk of meat." Thorry snatched a pebble off of the ground and deviously launched the stoney projectile at her new target. The rock glanced harmlessly off of the beast, but the pig squealed in surprise, turning around in confusion to see where the attack had come from. The girl sprinted across the battlefield with newfound confidence, slashing a blow across the creature's back and scoring a nasty orange mark with effortless ease. "Hah." She grinned, admiring the new weapon. It had certainly enhanced the amount of damage she could do that's for sure. But Thorry was soon taught an important lesson for admiring her new blade and not paying attention to the battle. The boar charged furiously through the grass, kicking up a trail of dirt with its hooves, and smashed it's head into her body, sending the girl into the muck once again. "Hey!" She protested irritably, getting back on her feet.
