[SP-F6]Keep Hitting Yourself, KEEP HITTING YOURSELF!! - The Gemini [Complete!]

Recommended Posts

Kalesh stepped foot into the sixth floor for the first time, his virtual skin feeling the heat and the humid air of the jungle. At a glance he noticed the female NPCs and chuckled to himself, sadly doubting they had the programming for the things he had in mind he shakes his head and begins his exploration. He first made note of all the shops in the area that he could locate. Not a lot. With a dramatic sigh he stroked his temples and began his search for something else to keep him occupied. Maybe some food or drink? As he walked though, an NPC approached him. That was new. "Hiya! Wanna duel? If you win you'll get an -awesome- reward! Come on, please?~" The cloaked NPC seemed rather convincing to him. A chance at a reward and a chance to try out his new sword sounded pretty great to him. He taps through his menus and takes out his scimitar, the size of his leg and with a serrated blade to really get the blood flowing. A moment later a duel request popped up and he happily hit it without thought.

Kalesh happily waited for the time to go down, glancing around as he took a breath and entered the closest thing to a battle stance as he could imagine. He kept an eye on the NPC before blinking and realizing some text that he was seeing. "To the death...?" He silently muttered before saying "Whoa, whoa, whoa! You didn't say anything about this! Call off the duel, I don't want to kill or be ki-" He was cut off by what came next, the NPC threw aside its cloak and there before him stood an exact duplicate of his character, even holding the same weapons and armor! This caught him so off guard he barely noticed the timer hitting zero before the NPC charged him. In a panic he slashes upward with his sword to deflect the... Gemini? The name was now showing and he shook his head, he had to get his head in the game. The enemy had been repelled but not slain. This was a monster hunting quest now to Kalesh, even if the monster was rather handsome.

it was not long before the monster tried to make its second attack, but Kalesh was having none of it. At this point he was rather angry at the creature for having the gall to take his look and try to use it against him. He had played enough RPG to know better than to let it bug him. "Yeah yeah yeah, you wouldn't dare harm yourself. Old scenario." He sighed and deflected the Gemini a second time, but this time he took full advantage of the opening and sliced his blade across the monster's chest, making it reel back from the damage. Kalesh momentarily glanced to the corner of his screen before grinning mischievously. "Oh, look at that. My HP didn't drop" He stared down the Gemini, no longer having anything to fear in his mind as he readied for another attack.

Kalesh had a feeling of confidence since he had managed to get the first hit in, one that he would momentarily regret. As soon as Kalesh ran towards the Gemini it ducked under where his blade was going to be and slashed at his leg! He gasped as the cut nearly tripped him but instead he managed to regain his footing and stumble back, glancing at his HP again before pausing and lowering his guard. "Seriously?" The tiniest possible sliver was missing from his hit points. He was starting to wonder if he was stronger than he thought.

Kalesh sighed in disappointment. He didn't know if it was an oversight on Kayaba's part or a glitch, but he suddenly lost all sense of threat towards his foe. He just looked to the Gemini with such pity in his eyes, sidestepping the enemy's attacks as he tried to tap through menus and see if he could cancel. That was a nope. Kalesh gasped as a slash came very close to hitting him. "Ooh, almost!" He says sarcastically before rolling his eyes and lifting his blade to block the Gemini's weapon once again. "Hey, want to just stop now? Look at my damage, back to yours." He sensed quickly it lacked the programming to retreat so he merely shrugged his shoulders.

At this point he really and honestly felt no sense of danger or urgency, let alone challenge. He simply watched and waited for the Gemini to make its move, watching the sword hit his virtual body before hitting the monster right back. "Boop." He mocks as he himself takes barely a scratch and the Gemini lost a far larger chunk of its HP. He wasn't entirely sure why the monster was so weak before he looked at his sword and armor and blinked in realization. "Ohhhh, you copied me but not my items! Neat!... Too bad, not handicapping myself." He snickered "Seriously, bro, you brought this on yourself."

He chuckled softly to himself while he waited for the monster to come to him, getting a bit of a glimpse as to how tanks must feel in combat, just standing there and taking it, while also returning the favor back to them. This time however the Gemini didn't even get to do that. Kalesh deflected the blade midair and attacked back with a sigh as he saw the blade cut deep, the Gemini in for a real bad time since it just triggered his bleed enhancements. He watched as the red pixelated mark across the NPC's chest didn't close immediately. "Oof, bad luck, friend." He smiled while appreciating a 3D mirror image of himself.

Deciding to liken himself to a shark, he knew there was blood in the water so he charged the Gemini to get another slice of him, closing the gap, slashing the mimicking NPC across the face, shuddering a little at the imagery that resulted of it, temporarily blinding the NPC as it swung wildly to try and find a player that had long since backed off to watch the show, grinning a little sadistically despite the monster holding his face. "Hm... Oh, don't mind me, just trying to take back what you stole." He laughed at his wit since he was the only one who would and that was fine by him.

He readied himself for another strike, dashing at the Gemini just as it regained its vision and managed to dodge the second swing from Kalesh, and strike back! The monster's sword swung hard, hitting Kalesh right in his breastplate!... Which it practically bounced off of, leaving him with just a scratch even at full power. "Ooh, you are learning, good for you!" He swings again, the Gemini backing off to avoid the return attack as Kalesh double checked their HP bars. He himself was still rather in the green, but the NPC had hit the yellows for sure. It wouldn't be long at all he thought if he kept managing to hit the challenger.

Not taking the fight seriously Kalesh had also left himself open. The enemy charged at him not long after it had backed away, surprising Kalesh with a kick to the gut, making him gasp and hunch over a bit before glaring angrily at the Gemini and shoving him back. He hadn't done any damage but he had distanced himself before he took more damage, however slight it was, it still wasn't overly pleasant to get hit for no reason. He tried not to get too distracted but at the same time he just had to wonder what the special reward was going to be, assuming it wasn't all a trick in the first place. Kayaba had done worse, after all, so it was not insane to suspect a quest had no rewards to offer him.

The next few strikes all ended in draws, blade clashing, each one of the combatants dodging and parrying every strike more and more consistently at they tried to find a flaw in their movements or a surprise to exploit. As the two serrated blades clashed together in a fight of strength he glared at his doppleganger and grit his teeth. Despite his apparent lack of a threat, he had to admit that his stamina was starting to drain as they fought. He was getting tired the longer the fight went on. Even if at the brink of collapse the Gemini had a slim change of victory, and Kalesh was not even that tired yet!

Kalesh tried to push back against the doppleganger in their battle of strength, working to shove the blade away from the other so they could get a strike in, each one perfectly matched statistically, the only thing Kalesh had over Gemini was equipment and so for the moment they were at a standstill. Kalesh was pushed back very slightly, the Gemini seeming not to have the problematic system of energy to worry about. "Tch, figures, give the enemies infinite mana, totally fair and balanced." He was quickly reminded of the utter uselessness of mana draining skills in many RPG as an offensive move while trying to hold his footing.

Kalesh gasped as the Gemini suddenly shoved, caushing him to stumble back and take what would be a critical blow to the chest, clenching his teeth at the feel of the virtual blade cutting through his equally virtual flesh. It had no pain but he learned to associate it with 'bad'. He was panting as his stamina hit the critical areas. His health was fine, but the system's cursed energy system was causing him to enter a somewhat more sluggish and tired pace. "Daaaaamn this is inconvenient." He was trying to catch a breath that didn't seem to be coming, blaming it on the fact he was technically in combat until the duel ended.

Kalesh clenched his jaw tight and took a deep breath, holding it to offset the shakiness and to try and focus himself on the task at hand rather than his apparent lack of stamina. He was going to willpower his way through this, forcing his virtual muscles to straight him up and into a proper stance before he started to run towards the exceptionally lucky NPC. With a flourish he swung his blade towards the Gemini, his eyes widening in realization that his foe was performing and exact mirror of his attack!... He didn't stop or hesitate, he knew that if it came to trading blows, he would win! Each copy of Kalesh had a blade across the chest, not deep enough to cause any side effects but certainly enough to cause an HP drop before they both jumped back, Kalesh finally letting out his held breath as he pants and tries not to hunch over at all from the exhaustion.

Kalesh took another deep breath to preparation for his next attack, the gemini circling him slowly like a vulture he supposed. It took his appearance and now it was trying to put him down. He knew that there were lots of people around, he was in town! They couldn't really do much to help him he supposed so he tried to pay them no mind and just not look like an utter failure. With that thought the copy-cat attacked, swinging the scimitar but missing as Kalesh sidestepped and cut across the monster's outstretched arm! The limb stayed on to Kalesh's frustration but the damage was really adding up. Only two hits and the enemy in front of him would be deceased!

The enemy didn't particularly give Kalesh time to prepare this time. It lunged at him with its wounded arm, still pixelated and vulnerable. This gave Kalesh a window to parry, cutting upward and knocking the blade aside before it could hurt him! Kalesh backed away from the NPC while trying to catch his breath, cursing the system a bit for having a combat game with fatigue involved. He would need to learn how to handle this better, especially when he got stronger. As he was, he felt like he could pass out.

Kalesh shook his head to refocus himself while the NPC's arm healed, the both of them clashing blades time and again for several minutes with no sign of the other getting the advantage, seemingly to be evenly matched in regards to skill, so it was only when one pierced the guard of the other that Kalesh had the advantage, but as long as they both tried to keep the other at bay the fight was going to remain a standstill. At the same time it was a matter of prinicple, letting himself get hit over, and over, and over just to finish off an enemy felt wrong with his current stats. He wasn't a tank, and he never would be. Such things were not something he enjoyed the thought of in the slightest! Finally their blades met particularly hard and both look-alikes were knocked back, readying their next assault!

The fatigue was really catching up with Kalesh, he was panting and his vision was going a bit fuzzy so he barely even noticed when the NPC charged forward and cut into him! He gasped at the sensation as the curved but serrated blade buried itself into his virtual shoulder, digging into an unarmored spot of his body! It didn't do more damage in either case, but it certainly stopped him in his tracks and made it hard to move his right arm which still clenched his scimitar tight! "Agh! Stoppit, it's annoying more than anything!"

Kalesh clenched his jaw while trying to wrench himself free of the blade in his shoulder, trapping his arm from doing anything useful until it was finally removed. The Gemini obliged since it was not done with him it seemed, tugging the blade free and running it across Kalesh's throat, making him gasp and try to yell at the NPC about it being various bad words and causing him more trouble than it was really worth. Soon though he realized no words were coming, his eye twitching as he realized he had no vocal chords at the moment until the wound closed itself. Frustration was fighting with fatigue inside Kalesh as he eyed the Gemini.

((Stop helping him, dice.))

Kalesh waited for his throat to heal itself of the pixelated problem it had, making some grunts to double check before he said "Ooookay, this is getting pretty annoy-" Just as he said that the Gemini charged again, Kalesh trying to strike but the Gemini's left hand batted his arm away as he cut across Kalesh's throat again! He tried to curse as he shoved the NPC away, touching his throat with his spare hand while backing away from the NPC, as if to see how well connected he still was. He was relatively sure a decapitation was an instant death.
