PP - F1 Rendezvous at the Starlight Cafe (Teayre)

It was getting to be the beginning of the evening when Calrex appeared in the teleportation plaza of the Starting City. However, unlike the usually focused expression he usually had, now his feature were more relaxed. Even his stance was more casual. As he made his way through the streets of the settlement he swiped through his menu before sending a message to Teayre, requesting to meet up with her back at the Starlight Cafe, where they had their first food when getting started in SAO. Unlike their first time, their good friend, Oikawa, had gone into hiding. 

The thought weighed heavy on Calrex's mind for a short time before he gave a calming breath, shaking his head as he arrived in front of the lit up establishment. Even with all of the changes that had taken place amongst his friends and acquaintances, this place still remained exactly the same. A smile came across his face before looking down at his outfit, seeing that he was still clothed in his casual combat clothing paired with the Grand Dragoon armor. "Yeah, I can't invite her to something like this dressed like I'm ready to go out into the field zones."

Making a few more swipes on his inventory he swapped out his gear for the outfit his fiancee had bought him on the eleventh floor, which was a modern version of his usual outfit: Blue jeans with a white shirt and darker blue jacket. Disappearing in a flash of light for a second he looked to see that the clothing had, of course, fit to his avatar just right. Putting his hands in his jacket pockets he leaned against a nearby wall as he gave a small breath, "Hopefully she can make it."

Appearing on the first floor again Teayre flicked her finger down just as a pm arrives, her eyes scanning through the message she grinned as she had just been on her way there for some strawberry sundaes. Swapping to her inventory Teayre unequips her weapons before scrolling through the various outfits she had settling on one she hadn’t worn for some time. A red bandana formed over her hair, whilst a black sleeveless undershirt with a red corset formed over her a red skirt bouncing on pleated black lace as the main pieces of her outfit. A pair of black high heels with black tights shimmered onto her legs whilst long black skin tight gloves appeared on her arms. “I probably shouldn’t wander around unarmed… Oh well.”

 Shrugging Teayre begins to wind her way through the streets pausing for as she looked up at a swinging sign before turning to face the door of the Starlight Café, letting out a squeal Teayre runs over to Calrex and flings her arms around his neck. “CALLIE!” Reaching up with her face she kisses her fiancée causing a few players that are passing by to walk slightly further away obviously put out from this display of affection. Stopping her kissing she nuzzles her head into his chest. “How’ve you been? I’ve not seen you for so long Cal… I… I really missed you.”

As he heard his name get yelled from a decent distance away Calrex turned to see that his fiancee had arrived, feeling her wrap her arms around his neck as he closed his eyes and returned the kiss, feeling a smile come across his face before he felt Teayre rest her head in his chest, "Hey Teayre. Yeah, it's certainly been a while. Come on, let's get inside."

Giving a smirk he led the redhead inside, grabbing a booth like they did the first time ever entering the cafe, "Here, go ahead and order what you want, it's on me this time."

Resting his chin on his crossed arms he looked over with a smile on his face at Teayre.

Slipping into the building as Calrex held the door open Teayre smiled to the box waitress before sliding into the both next to her partner. Her hand interwoven with her the red haired girl begins to thumb through the menu only to shut it a short time after. Turning to her escort Teayre looks up at him her arms wrapping around his. "You pick for me Callie-kun, I trust you almost as much as I love you." Blushing the girl leans her head on his shoulder letting out a happy sigh. Turning her head she quickly licks his ear before slipping around to the other side of the booth, grinning evilly. "Got you."

Giving him a brief look of worry she opens her mouth as if to say something and the closes it. Sliding a hand across the table Teayre grabs the menu again and opens it hiding behind it whilst one hand readjusts her hair to behind her ear.

"Hm?"

As Teayre closed the menu Calrex gave a smile and a nod as the waiter arrived. Calrex decided to order two of the things he had gotten in the past, a bowl of chocolate ice cream and an iced mocha. Once Teayre had placed her order the waiter would give a bow and head to the back as the blue-haired boy gave a smile and gazed over at his fiancee again, "So how have things been? It's certainly been a while since we were able to go out like this. It's kind of nostalgic."

"Now that I think about it...I think we're sitting the exact same way we did when Oikawa first took us here. Guess it's kind of become force of habit."

Realizing he was staring at Teayre for probably an awkward amount of time Calrex broke his gaze, shaking his head as his cheeks flushed, putting a hand behind his head, "S-Sorry about that. I guess it's been a while since you wore that dress, heh. I guess ever since we've focused on improving our gear...I forgot how beautiful you look in it."

Teayre's brow furrowed as Calrex ordered a bowl of chocolate ice cream and an iced mocha. Pulling a face Teayre returns Calrex's gaze her eyes locking his and a small smile sat on her face with her eyelids half closed as she rested her head on her hand. A growing heat in her cheeks revealed to the girl that they were turning red. She nodded silently as her almost permanent party member spoke, not really paying attention just listenning to him enthralled by his words.

Not turning away even once Teayre let's out a small giggle as he apologises for staring. Leaning back and raising a hand to her mouth to try and hide the co tinued laughter. At this moment the waiter returned bring with him the bowl of chocolate ice cream and the iced mocha and laying them down on the table in front of Calrex. As fast as a viper Teayre reaches across and snatches the ice cream away flashing her fiancee a mischievous smile. "What I asked you to pick for me..." The cheekiness turned to innocence she batted her eyelids and as she was about to take the first bite out of Calrex's ice cream he hit her with those words. Mouth agape the spoon clatters down into the bowl as Teayre begins to blush even more. Reaching for the menu Teayre ducks behind it again hiding mumbling half hearted insults at Calrex.

Calrex gave a smirk as Teayre snatched up his chocolate ice cream, not realizing for a second that Teayre had requested to have him order for her, "Oops, I know exactly what to order."

Giving a gently waive to the waiter he added on an extra large strawberry sundae, which remembered Teayre had ordered the first time afte they had completed the <<Secret Medicine of the Forest>> quest. Nodding the waiter went into the back before promptly returning with it. Calrex gave a nod of thanks, "Huh, I guess they're done enough of those that it's something that can be made quickly now."

Looking over he saw Teayre's blush had deepend as his own became redder in respose, raising his fist to fake cough into it, "S-Sorry about that, heh. I guess I'm a little more tired than I thought that my attention is slipping. Here you go."

Gently sliding over the sundae he gave a warm smile, taking a sip of his iced mocha.

Watching her fiancée guiltly Teayre kept eating his chocolate icecream every so often she’d offer the spoon to him with a nibble of the ice cream on. When her Sundae turned up her mouth dropped. “Cal… You’re going to have to help me, that’s a little big even for me.” Sliding out of the booth for a moment the red haired girl slides back in next to her fiancée and takes a scoop of the sundae into her spoon before offering it to the bluenette. Putting the spoon down Teayre leans against Calrex letting out a happy sigh as she began to trace shapes on the back of his left hand.

Calrex's smile remained on his face as he accepted spoonful after spoonful of ice cream as Teayre offered it to him, although he couldn't help but laugh as his fiancee said she was going to need his assistance with the sundae, "Sure, I can do that."

Scooting over a bit he made enough room for the redhead to fit next to him he felt her fingers gently beginning to draw on the back of his hand as he felt his blush deepen, "She certainly hasn't done that in a while, heh."

Taking a bite of the sundae he gave a smile as he moved some of his bangs out of the way, "So, was there anywhere in particular you wanted to visit? We've got all the time in the world, so I figured tonight would be a good day to check out some of the old shops we visited back when we were lower leveled."

As her fiancée moved over for her Teayre stole a quick kiss, before turning her attention to the treat in front of her. Eyes darting between that and Calrex the girl gently bit her bottom lip. “I’m sorry Cal… I lied…” With that she picked up the spoon and freed her hand from their embrace and began to eat the Strawberry Sundae without any issues. Quickly scoffing down the delicious treat, the side of her lip started to get quite cold and Teayre leaned back with a slight burp as she looked up at her fiancée again.

“Hmm… Well we’ve had desert what about actually having dinner?” Swinging one arm over him Teayre hugged Calrex and pulled herself close to him as she rubbed her head on his jacket by the shoulder. “We really haven’t done this in a while… All that training the time and effort spent out in the field… It’s nothing not if we can get to do this properly at some point.”

Calrex couldn't help but give a laugh as Teayre immediately tucked into the strawberry sundae and promptly completed it, his smile still stuck to his face, "Actual dinner? Of course we can definitely do that. I think the Prancing Cow is still open on this floor, so we can go get some nice dishes."

Placing his arm around his fiancee he gave a nod, "Yeah, I think after the twelfth floor was completed I got too focused on training, so I forgot to take a break for a while. But I'm glad that we both managed to get the time to go out tonight."

Giving his thanks to the waiter he helped Teayre to her feet and gently led her out by the hand as he put his hand in his jacket pocket, looking around the area. The Starting City was starting to quiet down as the night began to settle in as the moonlight illuminated the walls and streets of the settlement.

After being escorted out of the Starlight Café by Calrex Teayre turned suddenly pinning him against the wall. Her hands pressing against the brickwork on either side of his head. “Calrex. Whatever you do, don’t you dare die got it?” The girl’s eyes had gone thin as tears began to form at the corners. Her lips wobbled slightly as began to bite them in an attempt to not show how she was feeling.

“Come on… Let’s go before the night turns for the worst.” Taking her fiancée by the hand she begins to walk towards the Prancing Cow avoiding having her face looking directly at Calrex. Once they arrived outside Teayre ushers the boy in before turning away. “I’ll come inside in a second okay?”

"Huh?"

As soon as they left the cafe Calrex felt himself suddenly against a wall with Teayre's face right in front of his. Hearing her words he felt a bead of sweat form on the side of his head before he gave a nod, "O-Of course, I have no intention of letting that happen. But don't go dying on me either alright?"

"That...seemed out of nowhere. Something's definitely on her mind...I can be clueless at times, but I'm not that dense."

Following alongside his fiancee he looked over with concern as they arrived over at their destination. However, instead of simply agreeing with Teayre and going inside he gave a smile as he turned and stood beside her, "Hey...is something on your mind? You can tell me."

"Come on Teayre, you think that earlier act wouldn't have been noticed by me? We've been together far too long for that to slip by."

Calrex following her caused Teayre to stalk off further, her feet hitting the ground much harder than she’d of like to and suddenly she was running out of the safe zone. Her hand reaching up and wiping her tears away she stopped as she found herself in a grove of trees sinking down, she buried her head into her arms and sobbed. The wailing of her screams could only be topped by that of the Banshee on floor 10. Looking up the girl watched as several players fought a single boar in front of her. Furrowing her brow as the boar knocked a player to the floor he started scrambling away as it followed him.

Her left hand free the Oikawa Kanashiki from its sheath as the red haired girl surged forwards slicing through the boar not even bothering with a sword art. As the mob erupted into crystals Teayre stalked off before even looking at the players. As she looked up she froze spotting Calrex who was stood there with his arms crossed.

"Alright then..."

Calrex gave a sigh as he watched Teayre decide to move further away. Since he wasn't expecting her to move to quickly she managed to gain some distance before he was able to catch up. Right then he saw she had gone out of the safe zone, immediately engaging a boar that was attacking a nearby player. Rather than retrieving the Grand Blade he opted for using the decorative one-handed straight sword he had bought from Meokka some time back that was in commemoration for their yet-to-be-held wedding, the sheath appearing on the back of his hip as he used <<Sprint>> to catch up.

He crossed his arms as Teayre turned around, giving a small sigh to himself as he put his hands into his jacket pockets, "Guess this isn't something she's feeling up for telling me right now..."

"Alright, you don't have to tell me now, but I'm not going to let you go off on your own. If you want to tell me what's going on I'll be right here ready to listen."

"Although it would b nice if you didn't feel you need to keep it from me...it's pretty obvious you've been crying from the redness in your eyes. What is going on...or happened Teayre?"

Walking so that he was standing beside her he activated his <<Reveal>> skill and scanned the area, "If you want to go out and fight some creatures I don't see any in the immediate area, so we'll probably need to head further out to find anything."

Snivelling Teayre looks up at Calrex her arms slipping into his, as she pressed her head against his chest she let out a small sigh. "It's nothing honestly. If you'd just given me a minute it would of been fine Callie." Her eyes were still damp but no fresh tears were pouring out of the just yet. Slowly the embrace tightenned until Teayre let go of her fiancee and began to walk slowly back into Starting City with his hand gripped in hers.

After they entered the gates Teayre began to meander through the nearly empty streets of the main settlement on floor one. It was rapidly approaching midnight now and one did have to wonder where the time had gone. With her feet starting to drag and voice shaky Teayre began to speak her eyes shimmering with a dam of tears welling up inside them.

"I've been on floors three and four Cal, with Piers and Opal respectively and after sometime they both... Well I nearly got them both killed. All we were doing was farming mats and..." It was no use the red head couldn't hold back the tidal wave of salt water that began to simply waterfall down from her eyes. The girl tried to continue her story in between her sobs, "Somehow both of them ended up in the yellow area of their health bars and close to death... I don't want to lose you Callie, not from me doing something silly."

"Oh, so you met both Opal and Piera? That's good to hear!"

"So that's what she's worried about. With the way her past trips went, she was worried something similar might befall me..."

Pulling Teayre around he wrapped her up in an embrace as he rested his head gently on top of hers, "I see. I'm sorry if I pried too much. I know you're concerned about me, but don't worry silly. You told me not to die right? Heh, well that's part of the reason I'm working so hard to become stronger right? I don't know if it'll help much, but at least be glad they're still alive. If no one's live are lost, then there's always room to improve and become stronger, but that's lost the second their health drops to zero."

Gently releasing her a little he gave a small smile, "I've worried myself at times too. There have been a few times where the people I've traveled with went into the yellow bar, all because I was unable to keep them out of harm's way. You remember Lowenthal right? Recently I helped him go back from an orange cursor to green, but literally on the opening strike the field boss managed to get him to less than half his health in one strike. With six people there, someone still came close to death."

Giving a small inhale to catch his breath he continued, "What I'm trying to say is...don't beat yourself up too badly about it. As long as we're both careful, we'll be sure to stay alive. I try my best to plan almost my every step when traveling alone to make sure I don't push myself too far. So believe me when I say, I'm not going to get myself killed, so rest assured."

“Piera yes it’s good, even if she felt a bit put off by me… She thought we were the same level when we initially went out. I mean I know I more or less use the same gear consistently. Opal is another story Cal, she doesn’t seem to understand the concept of privacy. Like asking me how far we’d gone when it was our first time partying together. I MEAN COME ON!” Teayre prattled on to Calrex as she rested her head against his chest. Her hand gripping his shirt as she gently sobbed into him. “Cal… I just wanted to wipe my tears off earlier… I didn’t want to run away, I know you’re strong enough to be on your own… Just I don’t want to risk losing you. Not after everything we’ve been through.”

Calrex remained silent and attentively listening as kept his arms wrapped around Teayre, gently brushing the back of her head, "I understand. I guess I was worried, so I wanted to make sure you were alright. But you're right..."

"It's not like I wasn't concerned while you were off training in the fields for that extended period of time, especially with no checking in..."

"...I don't want to lose you either, especially with all that's happened that we've been through. I have a feeling that the challenges are not going to get any easier as we continue making our way upwards. That's why we're working to become stronger...to make sure the worst doesn't happen."

Giving her a quick kiss on the head he gave a smile as he inhaled her scent, or at least whatever scent was simulated within SAO, "Just remember we're protecting each other. Sure I might be strong enough to do many things on my own, but I always feel safer with you around to watch my back."

Teayre gently leaned back as her waterlogged eyes gazed up at Calrex shimmering in the setting sun. “S-sorry… I know I’m a hypocrite really, I spent all that time away and in the end I just ignored you.” Sinking her head back down into his chest Teayre grips her partner tightly holding him close. As he mentioned about strength Teayre giggled. “You, the strongest player in Aincrad feel safer with me watching your back? Think how I feel when I’m with you Callie, I mean sure neither of has have uniques but I’m leagues behind you in terms of strength… My training did nothing for me compared to the training you did during that time.”

Breaking the full on embrace Teayre kept herself attached at the hip to Calrex with both her arms wrapped about one of his. “I’m sorry I’m not too hungry now… Would you mind if we headed to an inn or back to my shop at all? Just spent some time together quietly?”
