[PP-F13] Creating the Biggest Party Ever (War of the Ancients)

Recommended Posts

[OOC: If your stats differ from what it is listed on your signature, please list them.]

This had all started one morning, when the girl had slept in. When she woke up, she knew that three groups were already started this new quest, and she wanted to partake in it as well. So, she quickly ran through her entire list of people that she knew was alive who was not in a party in the hopes that they would join her on this adventure. While she had been expecting a handful of players, she knew that the more that she could get the better, and slowly but surely she had assembled a relatively strong party. It was the biggest one ever assembled outside of a formal boss or event raid. But as she waited for them to arrive onto the 13th floor, she knew that it was going to take sometime. There were a mix of veterans and new players, so they would all have to get onto the same plan.

As Rebekah thought over the plan once again, she knew that it was going to be alright, every risk was taken into consideration and everything would be fine. There was practically nothing to worry about but that was the problem, everything felt too simplistic and too easy, she knew there were going to be problems along the way, but hopefully her calculations were correct to begin with.

Jomei looked puzzled by the sudden icon that appeared in front of his face. It was a small yellow envelope, meaning he had received a PM. However, for the moment, he had brushed it off, since he was in the middle of fighting some annoying wolves that were hanging around the outside of his shop on Floor Two. "I really have to get a place inside the safe zones." he said to himself as he shoved his rapier into the body of another wolf. His mind kept going back to that message he got though. What if it was important? Or if someone was in danger? Especially Zandra. Making use of his best attacks, Jomei took out the mobs as quickly as he could.

About ten minutes after he got the message, he finally was able to open it. It was, in fact, from Zandra. For a moment, Jomei because highly worried, thinking something happened to the girl. Upon opening it and reading the contents, he learned otherwise. There was a sudden quest that appeared up on Floor Thirteen.. a war of sorts. All of the top players in Aincrad were banding together in large groups to take out a force that was terrorizing the new floor. With a nod, Jomei quickly went to send a party request to Zandra so he could help out her and her possible squad, but it seemed he was too late. He received a message saying the girl was busy in combat. "[censored].." he said through grit teeth. Moments later, he got another PM, this one from Rebekah. He had not seen that girl in awhile, most likely since the last boss meeting, and before that in the S&Z season. Looked as though she was asking the same thing, trying to get together an even bigger party to take on this quest. Jomei replied to Rebekah, and made his way to Floor Thirteen.

After warping onto the desolate graveyard that spanned miles upon miles on this Floor, Jomei quickly made his way to Rebekah coordinates. He already had his rapier drawn and ready to fight anything that got in his way. He found the blonde girl standing alone, "So, guess I didn't miss anything then." As he came to a stop in front of the girl, he opened up his menu and pulled out an old item The Matriarch's Stinger. He popped open the bottle and poured the contents onto his blade, to give it an extra punch in battle.

Ebony sat up straight as a new notification popped up on her status bar, a flashing yellow mail symbol. It wasnt all that unusual for her to get mail, in fact, as one of the premiere healers her abilities were in demand. She opened up the message but was surprised to see that it was from Manta, one of her best friends. Apparently another player named Rebekah was looking for players to do a quest, but she was alreadying doing it with her guild and though Ebony would make a good replacement. Judging by the way the message was phrased, Ebony could only guess that there was some sort of event quest about to happen that she hadnt heard about. She didnt know this Rebekah person, but if Manta had suggested Ebony go, she had to be trustworthy.

It only took her a few minutes to go from her shop to the teleport on the fourth floor, and she made her way to the thirteenth to meet up with the group of players she would be taking this quest with. Upon arriving she made her way to Rebekah's coordinates after equipping her shield and armor. Nothing seemed to have happened yet, luckily, so she made her way over to the only other woman there, assuming her to be Rebekah. She held her hand out. "I'm Ebony, I dont think we've met before."

As an information gatherer, it wasn't at all a stretch to say that Emerath knew about the War of the Ancients quest, and had wanted to get involved, though he was a bit worried that with his level he wouldn't have been considered up to the task. But that was when he had heard about what could potentially become the largest party in the event, and of course, Emerath couldn't say he wasn't interested. He smiled and sent off a message to the person leading the group and was delighted to be accepted as a healer into the ranks.

And so, when the appointed time came to meet and for the event to begin, Emerath made his way to the gloomy Thirteenth Floor from the Fourth Floor that he called home. He shuddered a bit at the atmosphere. He hadn't actually ventured any higher than Floor Five, and so not only jumping to such a higher plane but also to such a gloomy place, gave him chills. He shook it off though, as he smoothed out any wrinkles in his jacket and made his way to the given coordinates to meet. He smiled as he saw some players beginning to form the group and was also delighted to see a familiar face in Ebony. Though, had he not known otherwise, he might not have recognized the woman, given how much she seemed to have grown in power.

Emerath simply smiled as he stood off to the side of the group, and gave the group a light wave to show that he had arrived, not exactly good at approaching these types of situations. Emerath's pet owl Mist simply sat on his shoulder and gave a light hoot, clearly unperturbed by the atmosphere.

Opal had found herself fending off mobs in the jungles by Amazon, her heart beat steadied as she received a pop up notification of new mail and quickly reading the contents. After flicking her weapon to the side, the simulated contents of blood swiftly flicked off the blade Masamune as she made her way to floor 13, and what a floor that was. It didn't take the woman long to arrive, brandishing the Masamune over one shoulder in its ornate saya and then sweeping long tendrils of black from her amber eyes. She had seen a small group of players forming just ahead of her and she took a deep inhale of her cig before blowing a thickly scent of citrus from her lips and flicking the stick away from her body before coming to a stop and examining her equipment.

The raven haired maiden said no words to the group, continuing to show her loyalty to the Knights of the Blood as he caplette fluttered about her as she moved her hand to sweep across her control console. Revealing a red potion, and using ruby red lips she bit down on the corked vial and and removed the blade from the sheath until it was coated in its mysterious liquid. With that done, the natural damage output of her sword will be minor but needed in order to take down whatever it was they had planned on doing. Once more giving the sword a flick, she sheathed the instrument into the saya, shouldered the weapon and waited until further orders.

Status Update:

Macradon was laying in his shop. It was closed for the day as he was tired of all the work he had been doing in there today. He just laid there and waited for the day to stop until a notification popped up. It was a PM from someone he had been talking with once in a small conversation. It was someone called Rebekah who needed help for the quest <War of the Ancients>. This was the topic they talked about when they had their talk with the rest of the people, he was fine that he was one of the chosen to partake in this quest. He would look a the location of the quest and it seemed like it was on the 13th floor. "Wow ... that's ... far away" he said as he had never ventured above the 8th floor before. This was something, going all up to the 13th floor. It did sound dangerous but he would take the chance. "I'm sure I'll not be the only one walking up there ..." he would think as he would pack his items and go to the warp plaza to warp to the 13th floor. Macradon wore the Butcher's Robes, a green and black robe with a hood. On his back a big great sword with a golden eagle as the crossguard. The handle was wrapped in a red dyed leather. On his shoulder a steel pouldron attached with belts on his chest. His torso was covered in a breastplate consisting of layers of plate riveted to a leather harness. Around his waist the steel cuirass that would protect his legs from the side and his hip area. His hood was off when he arrived at the 13th floor. He would wander around trying to find this Rebekah he had been mailing with. He would see some people standing not far away, it was probably those he would party with. As he got close he would open his mouth. "Hello! I'm Macradon, nice to meet you guys" he would say with a smile on his face.

  • 2 weeks later...

The team in front of her had assembled, and it was time to move out. There was no time to waste for any of them, and this quest was going to be a priority for them. She thought about the possible repercussions if they could not finish this as there were rumours floating about how this quest would impact the floor raid. She lead the 4th and final group taking on this quest, and she knew that a few members had not shown up today. She quickly sent a message to Takao, Kiru, Azide, Zero, and Daeron, asking them to join her as soon as possible when they reached the frontier, the 13th floor. As she addressed the group standing in front of her, she knew that she had not meet this group of players before, but there was a first for everything.

"Thank you for coming out here today, this will be a dangerous battle, but as long as we stick to the plan, we should not have any problems." Rebekah spoke. "We are going to head out, and we will hopefully be joined by a few more members or they will show up while we are battling. The target is to kill all 8 Darkened Souls, they have roughly 55 damage, but we will have a tank joining us. If anyone has any questions or problems, let me know, or we are going to move out."

Daeron arrived, slightly late, but not too late as he his able to see Rebekah standing before the group. Daeron waved without making a scene, and approached the group. It was right at the part where she was talking about having a tank joining the group. "Tank you say? I'm here." he said, prepared to start this raid or quest. Daeron stood in formation, ready to move out whenever Rebekah gave the signal to roll out. "So, how much damage am I going to be needing to absorb? I didn't exactly stock up on potions, I kept what I had from months back, which is-- 3..." he said, kind of letting himself down.

Unsure of how unprepared he was, he went with it and he was ready to make his first reappearance before tons of people for a big mission.

Ebony smiled at the new person. He had an orange icon, but he didn't seem all that bad, and he had said he was a tank. That meant that he was her job. She was supposed to keep him healed while the enemy whaled on him. This was going to be fun. Finally, someone who she could actually heal. Tristan just auto healed all the damage he took, it would be nice to be useful for once. She walked up to the player, holding a hand out in greeting. "I'm Ebony, healer for the party. I guess your my responsibility here." She said with a friendly smile. While she was there he wouldnt need to worry about potions. Depending on how much health he had she could likely heal him better than any potion could.

Daeron reached for the teens hand, preparing for the fight. "It's a pleasure to meet you m'lady" he said as he shook the gentle hand, keeping his grip light to slip out of the hand after shaking it. It was nice to know that there was a medic after all. The fact that his fate was in her hand worried him a little bit, but he had faith that she could do it.

Ebony shook his hand firmly before releasing it. She was one of the best healers in the game, but still wasnt all that well known. It seemed like this man hadnt heard of her either. Well, maybe after this little escapade her name would spread, especially if she did well. "Dont worry about healing, I have it grandmastered, and some back-up items as well. As long as I can move you wont go into the red." She said red specifically as she wasnt sure how much mitigation he had, or how much health, so she couldnt calculate how much healing he would recieve.

Jomei stood next to Rebekah, arms crossed, as the other members of the party arrived. Most of the players he was familiar with, mainly being Opal and Macradon. He remembered meeting Emerath once maybe, but he did not recall meeting Ebony. He nodded at the group as it formed, "Good to see you all. Looks like you drew together quite the crowd Rebekah." the man said looking over his shoulder with a smirk. The blonde girl thanked the group for coming, and told them that there were a couple of not currently present, hopefully coming later in the battle. She also mentioned there will hopefully be a tank present to take up most of the damage. "Thats good, that there will be a tank.. hopefully they will show up soon." Almost as if on cue, a heavily armored man entered their vicinity, sporting an orange cursor. Jomei raised a sharp brow as he looked at the mark of the player, but knew now was not the time to judge by appearances. "Perfect timing, lad. Guess we are set to go."

(please update your stats, if I go them incorrectly)

After a short walk, they had finally arrived with 8 of the monsters that were in front of them. She had hoped that maybe one or two more would join their party, but she was not going to wait any longer. Normally the tank would go first, but in this case as long as Daeron kept up his hate, they would be fine. Without much more hesitation, she turned to her party, "Let's have some fun, and one last thing, remember to keep up our communication so that everyone knows what they are doing." With that said, Rebekah went first, and she knew exactly what she was going to do. However, all eight souls were focused on her, so she could not get anywhere near the first one, without being surrounded. She thought to herself, maybe Daeron should have gone first.

Daeron watched as Rebekah led on. It was perhaps- fifteen minutes of walking before they made it to the zone. Then it took another few minutes before they found the Darkened Souls. As Daeron began to rush before the team with his sword and shield ready, he saw Rebekah prepare to start fighting already. "Wait!" he said, as he must have made her miss, now the problem was that Rebakah was focused by all eight of them. Standing apart from the party, Daeron shouted, bashing his sword and shield hard against another, shouting at the Darkened Souls. "Come at me you bloody souls!", he shouted, now attracting their aggro with the use of his Howl skill, which worked nicely with his fighting spirit. All of the spirits now turned towards him, he nodded at the remainder of the group, giving them the signal that the battle has begun.

Zero knew he was late to the meet up with the rest of the party and that they had most likely set out to battle already. He rushed from the fifth floor and quickly made his way towards the thirteenth, heading towards the designated area. It was not long before he arrived at the spot, the battle just commencing with the Darkened Souls. He drew out his blade, dashing at the first four as the blade was engulfed by a black light. The light quickly spread over his entire being, engulfing him, and rose into the sky before rapidly coming down at the four Darkened Souls. He quickly realized he had overshot his attack and barely missed the targets. Instead he found himself landing on the ground and doing a barrel roll to get back up. “Forgive the tardiness, didn’t mean to get here so late.”

They had collected as one party, a strong unity of members that were going to help purge these Darkened Souls of their tainted vices. Opal had watched as the members gathered for the occuring battle, one epic battle is to take place, a war as such before the gates of Babylon would be forced open and their lives at stake for the upcoming challenge known as the Boss Battle loomed ahead of them. Firstly, they would have to survive this battle and then conquer whatever else these souls may challenge them to. Opal had steeled her nerves, in times of combat like this she would be forced to help and preserve her allies and that meant ever blow struck would be hyper critical to the situation. The first to attack was Daeron, the party's Tank. She knew nothing of the man and knew nothing of his history, but proving his worth now with a HOWL to distract these dark souls of their vision to him and him alone giving them players ample to attack freely.

Next was another player known as Zero, darkness seemed to bathe his body and his weapon as it surrounded him much like the dark souls had been devoured by their own touch of darkness. His first attack was unimpressive, a player she had not known of from before or heard of. Probably all talk with no bite according his lack of battle hardiness to actually score a hit on these tainted souls. How he came to have a blade such as that...she would never know.

As Zero passed way his excuse of missing, the woman swung her blade left and right making sure no one would stand in her way. The woman <<Charged>> with the ferocity of the wind as she assailed towards the targets, no fear in her amber eyes as she shot forward the intensity of a bullet. Her blurred figure wrapped in white and crimson as she swept her blade along the Darkened Souls, their horrified expressions stricken to their faces as she submerged them into an unmovable state and quickly relinquishing a good portion of their hit points. Standing guard yet with in melee range of the dazed opponents, Opal would continue the fight on her end and would not allow them to advance a single step.

Emerath hadn't been entirely prepared for combat as the Darkened Souls began to take form around them, and Mist gave a bit of a wild and confused hoot as they were suddenly surrounded by the ghostlike shadows of the damned. Without thinking, Emerath readied himself in a Martial Arts stance and watched as his party began to make their moves, with Daeron taking the tanking role and pulling the souls to him, Emerath was less worried about him having to take the brunt of any attacks. And so with Opal leaping into action, Emerath went in a different direction, dodging the other souls and then doing kick off the ground, and performing a backflip kick at the Darkened Soul that was his target.

At first, it appeared that Emerath was going to miss, but his owl Mist flew at the Soul, causing it to give a moan and dodge the owl, right into Emerath's kick. Emerath connected hard, and the ghostly apparition was clearly reeling from the attack, despite that Emerath had only managed to cause a minor tick of damage. He landed from the kick and backed his way back to the party, reading his stance once more and keeping a close eye on Daeron in case he needed heals.

Jomei hurried along with the group, his rapier already drawn and ready to go. As they walked towards the battlefield, Jomei caught a glimpse of other groups, players that he could barely recognize at their distance, fighting off groups of humanoid looking figured. Many of those parties looked smaller than theirs, so maybe they would not have as much of a problem with this as they thought. Jomei saw Rebekah stop, and eight Darkened Souls emerged from the ground in front of them.

Immediately, the group went on the defensive, with Daeron taking the tank position and using his <Howl> skill to draw any attention off of us. From behind them, another man who was not present at the meeting point, jumped into the battle, overshooting his attack. Who the hell is that? Jomei thought to himself as he looked at the man recovering from his miss. Half of the Darkened Souls were accounted for and stunned, another being stunned by Emerath. His green eyes locked onto another of the enemies, choosing him to attack. Jomei took off running towards the fallen soul with his <Charge> skill, moving his rapier to slightly behind his body as he picked up speed with his run. Once within striking range, Jomei lunged forward, striking an initial blow with a piercing strike. He then spun his body, driving his blade multiple times into the monster. With one final blow, he knocked the Darkened Soul back and onto the ground, its HP dropping well past half.

The souls had been spawned and everyone had commenced their attack. Macradon would go to, into the battle. Macradon drew his sword and went into position. His sword began to glow as he rushed at one of the souls. He would swing his sword in succession, though not hitting the soul, not was he able to hit anything else than thin air. "Dammit" he thought, this early in the fight and he already missed, it wasn't that good. Though he wasn't able to do much, many of the souls were stunned and some of them weakened. Macradon would just hope for this battle to turn out more nicely.

The darkened souls had spawned, and Ebony tensed up. This was it, it was her job as a healer to keep everyone safe. She could only hope that Daeron would have good enough mitigation. Everyone attacked, leaving Ebony as the last. No one was injured yet, so she charged in, preparing to stun one just to try to help out a bit. She missed by a long shot though, and retreated back behind the others before she could be attacked. The others had done a good job of stunning, and the few that weren't stunned lunged for Daeron. It appeared that these mobs were terrible aim though, as the three that were capable of attacking completely miss, leaving Daeron unscathed.
