{{PP-PT-F29}} A Drink That Never Ends {On the House}
Reytac replied to Reytac's topic in Intermediate Floors
Saying things changed for people here was an understatement for sure. Reytac rocked back on his bar stool, staring up at the flickering bare light bulb hanging above them for a long moment. He wasn't so far gone yet that his balance was bad enough for him to worry about falling over - he just had wine, unlike the whiskey that Teion was knocking back. He rubbed the bridge of his nose and gave a shrug. "Yeah, that's no joke there. I mean, most people don't live with a day to day threat of death anymore - but all of a sudden, in here, we do. I know a lot of people just kind of.. Gave up? I did, t -

"Huh? Oh, just upbringing, be polite ta people you meet. At least until they either indicate a desire for something else, or do something that earns a different kind of attitude. The golden rule and all that." 'Treat others as you want to be treated'. For Reytac, that meant he tried to treat others kindly, or politely, until they had told him they didn't care for it - some liked more casual interactions - or if they'd doe something that showed they didn't deserve that politeness. It didn't hurt him any to do that so far. As for his age.. Rey scratched his cheek as he looked up, thinking that o -
Well that went over like a burp into the pastor's mike during Sunday service. Reytac took in a deep breath and let it out slowly, exhaling a slow and steady breath that felt like it was pulling all the air from his lungs, then from other bits of his body. He knew where she was coming from in some regard - if he had to die, he would rather do it on his own terms. But the way she'd said it felt painfully familiar, like the dark, grim thoughts that haunted him. The same ones that had made him hide in the Town of Beginnings himself for so very long. He drew in a breath and paused, looking to Casca

Reytac's shoulders slumped down slightly as he dropped himself into the seat that she'd pulled out for him, mumbling a 'thanks' as he did so before rubbing his face with one hand. He hadn't been in time. He hoped the debuff would clear out quickly for both of them. "Check your stat panel for a new debuff." He finally said, leaning back and running one hand through his hair. "Just one more on the list of impossiblilities this floor has thrown at us. I'm sure I'll be feeling it soon, I never was much one for drinking. Always just a social drinker, y'know?" He turned and gave Teion a wan sm -
"Hmm? Oh, I picked it up from one of the general merchants back in the Town of Beginnings. While it is definitely going to be better to be working with the player vendors when you're looking to get equipment, or combat-based consumables, stuff like this Spyglass, or teleport crystals, or even the customized tool for crafting, all are available from NPC merchants. If you haven't already, at the very least you should pick up a few of those teleport crystals so you can get out of a dicey situation." Reytac let out a laugh and rubbed the back of his head sheepishly. "Of course, that's advice I sho

Despite the blows that they were landing, Reytac could see when the monkey's attention turned back to Sewallus. The guard captain was drawing too much of the aggro - but Reytac was not on with seeing anyone die today. He saw the ape start to rise up to its feet, shaking off the stun as it focused on the elf again. Rey could see its form flickering, and it looked like some of its thick fur had been shorn away by Sewallus. That was - good. It gave him just that much more of an opening. The beast turned away from him, its ponderous head turning faster than it had any right to as Rey moved again.

It was honestly a bit hard for Reytac to keep from reaching out and clasping a hand on Teion's shoulder when she looked back to him again as they stood in front of the bar. She'd been doing it every so often, as if to make sure that he was still there, and if he'd known her a bit better he might have offered that physical support. Instead - "No, I see it too Miss Teion. And.. The other glass that I swear was not there when we walked in here and saw that one. Or, any sign of who put these here." Rey swallowed roughly as he processed that. While the drink that was in front of Teion - and h -

Reytac followed Teion down the stairs, grimacing as he went ahead and pulled the leaking barrel of wine from his inventory. Almost immediately wine started pulsing out rhythmically, falling to the stone beneath him with a splash. For now, at least outside, the wine was washed away by the incessant rain. But once they got inside that would be a different problem. Uh.. Let's see. Forest, forest, more forest, snowy forest." He drummed his fingers against the barrel as he spoke, tapping once for each place. Mostly, a lot of forests. "I do want to explore more, and was actually trying to when thing -

Having to haul the oddly-textured cart was something that Rey did not want to do even once, let alone twice, so He kept with Teion as she checked through the ship a little more until she found a case of glasses that she brought back and loaded up. Anything to keep from having to do this any more than necessary was good in his book. After the glasses were loaded up, he contemplated whether or not he should pull the wine barrel out - and decided against it. He didn't want to add 'leaving a trail of alcohol down town streets' to his list of events today - and with how everything else had gone, he -

"Honestly? I'm just out exploring, trying to find opportunities to get stronger. I was buried deeper in the mud than we would be if we had stayed out there," Reytac jerked his head over his shoulder towards the door, "for far too long. I have a lot of catching up to do." He stretched out near the fire, watching the way little wisps of steam rose from his clothes as the heat of the flames tried its best to dry him out. The thick humidity in the air certainly didn't help though. Reytac blinked when he realized that the other man was waving something towards him, and it took him a moment t -
Leaves crunched beneath booted heels as Reytac strode through the dark forest. He had a small lantern hanging in his hand - he’d gone for a fun bit of horror aesthetic and found a hollowed out skull with a light glowing from within the open mouth. Possibly from the tenth floor, perhaps, but he wasn’t sure where exactly it had come from. Still, it was working, lighting up the vibrant red leaves that he was walking across. He hummed in appreciation as he looked up to see skeletons hanging from the branches around him, rattling in the wind like nightmarish windchimes. The whistling, howling wind

Kept him grounded in the here and now, not getting sucked into his own head with whatever was going on with this place. He swung his hammer around in an arc, water scattering off of it, before he let it fall onto his shoulder. "Sticking together is still probably a good idea though. This place messes with our heads, hard." He turned his attention back towards the door he'd burst through and gave a slight frown. "As for what I found... No weird abominations from ou -

Reytac was right behind her, walking not quite in step with her as they boarded the boat. He'd wanted to agree, and possibly push them to get all the way out of this forsaken town, but his mouth hadn't bothered to open, words hadn't come from his lips. But at least it didn't seem like anything was going to attack them on the boat, as it seemed... Deserted? Rey blinked, salt water dripping from his lashes to join the rainwater running in rivulets down his face, and looked around. Who had docked the ship, dropped the anchor? "We should try to stay in ear shot while we find.. Whatever it is -
”Dirty, unclean? Hah, no. Corvids are smart crackers, and I've known the little guys to get under water spouts to get clean when they want to.” Reytac laughed. ”More, from what I've known, people don't like them because they're little kleptos, or seen as harbinger of bad fortune. They have a liking to picking up shiny bits and bobs. But even out in the physical world, they can be trained, and are known to form bonds with people - bringing humans who feed them little shiny rocks, or pieces of glass. The things that catch their eyes, y'know?” Little Cascade was wanting one herself, and ignoring

“I - wha?” Reytac tore his gaze from the oncoming ship that was cutting through the water towards them, his eyes bleary before he blinked twice, his gaze sharpening and focusing back in as he looked back to Teion, who was actually looking at him with some level of - worry, maybe, on her face? He shifted his grip on the wagon slightly and rubbed his eyes, then shook his head. Everything was foggy, only slightly less thick than the water in the air from the unending storm, even thinking was taking longer than he'd like. “I'm honestly not sure, Miss Teion. Constantly feels like something is w -
The sun setting over the beach was an amazing sight, the rosy hues painting the sky as a cool breeze carried the salty spray of the sea over the area. Reytac looked again towards the map that he'd gotten towards one of the people participating in this event, though the motion was a bit stiff with the cosmetic outfit that he had on. Halloween was an amazing time of year for him, and one of his favorite holidays, and seeing the costumes that everyone wore, or the decorations that they put up, always filled him with a warm glee. And of course, he loved doing what he could himself, though he regre

It was official, there was something in this town. Call it the coding out of place, or worse, this was how it was coded intentionally, but this place was clearly meant to mess with their heads. And it was working - when the door slammed open and a gust of rainy wind swirled in, Reytac had nearly dropped into a defensive stance himself. But then other than the unearthly wailing of the wind outside, nothing else happened, and he relaxed as he saw that Teion had accepted the party invite. He followed her outside, wishing he'd bought an umbrella - and realizing that, at no point before this, had
