{{PP-PT-F29}} A Drink That Never Ends {On the House}
Reytac replied to Reytac's topic in Intermediate Floors
Reytac held up one hand, his gaze distant, not really looking at Teion as he looked through her, past her. Cutting off her stumbled, panicked realization that she might have slipped up, said something to upset him – after all, she was wondering if leaving would even be worth it, when leaving was all he could think about. He pulled out one of his canteen of water and placed it in front of her – he’d seen her push her glass away slightly, cutting herself off, and having something else, especially water, would probably be a good idea. As for what she’d said – to not wanting out… ”But is it, -
[F12-PP-PT] Where Nightmares Tread [Slimin 2, the talkening]
Reytac replied to Jibae's topic in Intermediate Floors
"Determination, huh? Yeah, I suppose that's a good word for it. Better than 'bloody-minded stubbornness', at least." Reytac let out a chuckle as he took another bite of the sandwich. This was probably one of the better things he'd eaten - definitely better than most of the vendor food he'd been getting by with so far. He was trying his best to go slow - he'd have to ask Gaius where he had picked up - Reytac paused, mid chew, to stare at the other man across from the fire, then swallowed the food in his mouth roughly, nearly coughing since he'd definitely swallowed without chewing fully. -
Reytac frowned and rubbed his chin. If he had made this little shopping trip a week or two ago, it wouldn't have been ay issue to cover the material charge - but now he was dry on them from his own crafting. He gave a shrug. "Well, looks like we'll be making a trip then. I've used most of my materials making my Engineer gear. Part of why I need some of these things. So! Where will we be heading, then?" Getting the mats to pay her back would, hopefully, not take too long, and then anything extra he collected he could use himself to make more things.

Reytac had stared at the simple message from Mari for a moment before shrugging. The orange-haired woman had been kind of abrupt in nearly every encounter he'd had with her, preferring short and terse communications, so this made sense to him after he thought about it. The trip to the tenth floor and her store was shorter, and this time he felt a lot more secure - he didn't think he'd die if something sneezed on him this time. He passed by the gate guards to Yomi and followed the path back to Mari's little tent shop, taking a moment to chuckle at some similarities before he pushed inside.

{{PP-PT-F29}} A Drink That Never Ends {On the House}

"There's nothing wrong with being talkative - alcohol will do that to a person. I don't mind, trust me, far from the first time I've listened to someone vent some of the stress that's been piling up on them." Rey ran the tip of one finger around the rim of his glass, staring down at the faint purple liquid sitting inside. "Nor is there anything wrong with.. Having to give up. the flip side of loving someone like I do, is that losing them hurts in a way that's hard to grasp, or explain. When I realized we were trapped in this damn game," his hand tightened into a fist, clenching hard enough to -
Reytac took in a deep breath and exhaled slowly and softly. The raven stared at him, and he stared back, before the bird flew straight to him. It landed on the ground and hopped back and forth a moment, cawing at him. Confused after the last couple of attempts, Rey held out one of his arms and almost immediately, the raven leapt up onto his arm, its claws wrapping around his arm as it secured its perch. The bird let out a softer trill, and butted its head against his jaw twice and then shuffled to turn around and leaned back against him, resting against him. There was a white streak of f

”We all find something to believe in. For some people, that's actually themselves. For others, it's a cause - something they strive towards. For me, it's the dream of returning home to the one I love. But I think, so long as you have something to believe in, that's the important part. A light to fight that darkness that tries to creep in.” Reytac shook his head with a smile on his lips despite the fact that his attempts had once again failed. He stretched out his back, getting a pop, then rolled his shoulders. ”Thank you Miss Cascade, but keeping me company is all I need. If I try to thin

”It's been two years. I hope she still remembers me. But - for now, she is my goal, my drive. Seeing her again, holding her in my arms, tasting her lips on mine - that is what keeps me going. Probably a bit selfish, I know, but - it's what I have.” Reytac shook himself, reaching up with his hand to wipe away the pickle of hot tears that stung at his eyes before he gave the white-haired girl a smile. What she had needed to hear, maybe, was just - that she wasn't alone in hurting. He was sure that some people would love to pretend that they weren't hurting in this place - and maybe there were ev

"Scared off all the townsfolk, with a question as to why; We must avoid the night and say a prayer before we die.." The song lines came from the empty space where Reytac's head normally sat. Small blue flames bobbed in the middle of a ghostly silhouette as he walked towards the traditional-style house. From here he could see 'bodies' lining the path, with some kind of red liquid staining the ground around them. An unseen grin stretched his lips as he smiled. Despite growing older he still loved this time of year, and seeing the decorations that people put up was only matched by the excitement

Reytac froze in place, his arm outstretched towards the raven that he had been trying to lure back in when he heard the tentative question. He could tell that she had been - maybe not afraid, but worried, about asking him that, her tone quiet. The brunette took a deep breath, his chest swelling to the point his sides ached, before he exhaled softly, the sound loud enough to be heard. His arm, locked up from the sudden burst of tension, fell back to his side as the raven landed on a branch, watching him cautiously. He put his repeated failure out of his mind as he turned in place so he co

Reytac couldn't help but let out a laugh at the somewhat dry statement about walking. It felt like just about all he had done since actually getting active had been walking - through lots, and lots, of forests, but a lot of walking. ”The walking doesn't bother me any, especially with someone to talk to to pass the time. I don't know if there's like, a mount system or something that I just missed or haven't figured out how to access yet, but man if they had it set up to where our muscles got even a fraction of the exercise we did in here, my calves would be steel! “ He chuckled and looked to Ac

Reytac held his arm out to the bird, hoping the large, ink-dark raven would hop on over to him. Instead, the bird flapped its wings, exploding into motion, and dust kicked up, making Rey and Cascade blink. By the time the sudden explosion of motion settled, the bird was in the air, circling around Reytac and cawing judgmental. the small, white-haired girl, though, was gone - vanished into the ether like she had never been there. If it wasn't for the fact that Reytac still had the odd buff of 'Water snake' on his menu, and that there were still footprints in the dirt, he woudl have honestly won

"One, two Rey is coming for you, three four, gonna gather some godsbedamned materials so I can keep making things!" Reytac ran the fingers of one hand through his hair as he growled in frustration. He had fallen into the trap that many new crafters had, he felt - he had unlocked his shiny new profession, and in the space of.. a week or two, he had burnt through nearly all the resources he had gathered up to that point on his attempts at making his tools and consumables. And he still didn't have enough to actually stock his store and run it comfortably - oh he was sure he could probably get by

"Oh, hello Miss Nisa, nice seeing you again! Miss Cascade, I met Miss Nisa here while I was learning to be an Engineer - she downright breezed through the quest like it was as easy as breathing to her!" Reytac let out a loud laugh and shook his head ruefully. It seemed like to both of the ladies, his playful scolding of the bird was coming across as harsher than he had intended. But to be fair, he was used to animals that he had worked with for a while, he hadn't had a fresh start like this in years. He watched as Nisa held the raven out towards him, and the animal tilted its head from one sid

Reytac replied to Nari-Lanreth's topic in Beginner Floors
The silence around him was pervasive, almost deafening in the way that only unending silence could be. Appropriately, the only time that Reytac had ever heard this before was when he was going on a cave tour with his family when he was young. But unlike then, right now the leather-clad brunette was by himself. Only the sound of his footsteps broke the deathly silence, and even that sound felt like it was painfully out of place, like the sound was an intrusion that broke the silence of a graveyard. And considering the faintly glowing blue figures that were drifting through the darkened city str -
Reytac gave a light snort and shook his head, turning his attention to Cascade. "Oh, no worries about that Miss Cascade, I'm in no danger of giving up here. I've been dealing with animals for a long, long time. Though, I will admit, I have a tendency to prefer working with big dogs." A fond, nostalgic memory danced at the edge of his thoughts and he smiled fondly, before pointing at the bird that was circling above him. The bird landed on another branch and cawed at him, imperiously, and he snorted. " Yeah, you just sit there a moment and decide if you want to come down here. Now, Miss C

Reytac nodded softly, eyeing the bird that was eyeing him back. Slowly he paused and pulled the bowl of food from his inventory again. But almost as soon as he did, the bird took off, flying away from the branch that it had been perched on. It cried out to him several times, circling around his head as it looked down at him almost disdainfully. He glanced at the bowl, then set it down on the ground, then slowly backed away from it. It seemed like Cascade was right - he was spooking the birds off just by existing. It wasn't his fault! He just - looked like this. He hadn't been expecting

“Now, we'll do rapid release. For this, we'll go ahead and release the bolts as fast as we can. You should still give the last set time to fully leave the cart before firing, but that's about it.” And then he started firing. And so did the satyrs’ carts. This time, the dummies didn't stand a chance - cut down in a hail of arrows. “Impressive. Useful, in fixed battles, where a unit can bring one of these to bear. Rapid reload, and only one or two are needed to operate it. It lacks some.. Precision, but overwhelming force has a precision all its own, doesn't it?” Ares let out a booming l -

”We're going to use a staggered release for the first two sets of bolts. Go ahead and pull back on the levers now,” Rey demonstrated on his, feeling the eyes of the Satyrs on him. The levers clicked into place, and soon after he heard a series of clicks echoing around him. ”Now - staggered release, or staggered fire, means just release two, or three, but wait a few seconds between each one. The carts can handle all five sets of bolts being fired in more rapid succession, but we're trying to see how this works. So pull the lowest lever back to trigger it, then the one above it to trigger the ne -

Reytac about had a heart attack when Ares’ booming voice rippled out from behind him. He spun around, to see the massive figure of the god a dozen feet behind him, arms folded over his chest as he studied the target yard. He waved one hand, and the dummies were reset - and multiplied, doubling up in an instant. The God of War gestured again, and four Satyrs stepped forward, their expressions placid. ”Show these Satyrs the operation of your tool, Traveler. They are untrained, and none are the one who observed, so they are, as you would say, fresh recruits for you.” Reytac blinked, and gestured -

The first set of five bolts were only halfway to their targets when Reytac pulled the second trigger, sending five more on their way. Then he paused - not because the cart was struggling, but to watch the results of the first shots. Five rounds hammered into the shields he'd aimed at - a little lower than he'd intended, he'd have to adjust upwards - then, as the shields faltered, wobbling, the next set of bolts slammed in, skewing them even further. Pulling the cart up on its axis took a few moments, which would be faster if there was actually a second person working with him, but doable on h -

Reytac finished wheeling the last of the crossbow carts out into the practice yard that he'd been instructed to use, and then looked across it to where target dummies had been set up. The Satyr that had been helping him - solely with setting things up, other than that and providing him materials the demi human had not lifted a finger in aid - had done as Rey asked, and bunched several of the dummies together like a group of soldiers would be, not spread out like normal. There were also some shields, strapped to the dummies rather firmly. It wouldn't be as good a test as it would be if he had s
