  1. After having been virtually humiliated (no pun intended) and disarmed , it really sank in that if Sindon had wanted to, he could've of easily killed him. Acknowledging his remarks and upon the return of his sword to its sheath, Oikawa paced back and forth, letting all that information take root. "So to summarize, bounce less, grip less tightly but still firm, rather than block, parry as you did when I lunged, and to top it off I've picked a weapon that's regarded as a lethal dueling sword rather than a monster slaying force to be reckoned with?" While the criticism didn't affect me much, the passion that Sindon relayed his message with, stung in a way that didn't hurt me physically but mentally rather. Ready to answer questions of his obvious superior, he turned and faced Sindon. "My goal with this weapon is to prove that its every bit as lethal at killing enemies on the frontline, backline, support squad, and even worth using against the mightiest of bosses, as it is at dueling. I chose it because I felt drawn to it. Compelled to succeed with it against all odds. While I don't disagree that I should have a back up weapon of choice, I firmly believe this weapon can be made into something that can complete the job under most, if not all circumstances. I will perfect the use of this weapon, that I promise. To answer your third question, I plan to use any and all information I gain from you and most likely others to not only complete my goal but also to conquer the game. We all want out, so I think its safe to assume that that is everyone's end goal. Is this a weapon I would want to use on the frontline? Hell yeah it is. I can't become the best of the best if I can't prove its worth on the battlefield!" While Oikawa gazed back into his icy glare, he tried to warm his gaze up with the compassion of his own stare. While his words seemed to come at him like daggers, he couldn't help but feel the care Sindon showed for his love of the sport.

  2. Realizing that they mistook who he was gesturing at, Oikawa pointed at the guy that was not Calrex or Raeyliff.

OOC: Was meaning to gesture towards Sousuke, seeing as he was the second highest level if i read correctly. Also Happy Holidays everyone!

    IC:

"I meant this aco taco" he stated as he continued to point. That guy really is creeping me out. What if he passed out standing up? That'd be pretty funny haha! Finally calming down, seeing as no one left was an immediate threat to his health, he relaxed his hand. Continuing the conversation, "Nice to meet you Calrex! You too,  Raeyliff was it? Interesting names. While the one named Calrex seems to be calm and collected, even with a girl draped all over him, however;  the one named Raeyliff seems to be more skeptical and observant more than anything.. Hmm ..seems like good company for now. "Thanks for allowing me to tag along. What exactly are your activities for the day?"

  3. "I've never held an actual rapier before in my life. I had a nice pointy stick in my youth, but I do learn pretty quickly," he stated smirking a bit. Adjusting the heel of of his left foot so that it pointed opposite his chest, and lining up the heel of his right foot forced him to slightly bend his knees anyway. Bending his right arm a bit more while keeping his rapier pointed forwards, he finished off his adjustments by outstretching his left hand more-so behind his head rather than above it. Then in quick succession, he kicked his right foot forward while simultaneously pushing off his left foot and outstretching his rapier into the throat of his imaginary enemy. Quickly pressing off the toes of his left foot he backed away in graceful fashion. Executing a tempo of back foot, front foot, back foot front foot, until he returned a little further back from his starting point back into his guard position. Looking up at Sindon, he asked "Is that what you meant?" Making sure to keep his guard up, he waited to see his "teacher's" response. Gah, that whole routine felt natural. I either did that right or really really wrong haha. I'll know soon enough. Sindon doesn't seem like one to sugarcoat things...

  4. Reacting to Sindon's drawn weapon, Oikawa instinctively drew his and pointed it at Sindon in a sword-like fashion. As Sindon let his guard down, relaxing his stance, Oikawa chuckled at Sindon's unintended joke. Listening to his introduction on how to hold the rapier, Oikawa adjusted his grip accordingly. Finally satisfied with his grip, he responded."Again no worries, I'd rather you speak your mind than not talk at all. Silence is awkward. Hmm so this weapon and supposed fighting style is more effective in duels against players and monsters with swordsmanship... interesting..." A difficult weapon for sure, however; I am up for the challenge." Without much instruction, Oikawa attempted to make a guard stance similar to Sindon's. Planting his right foot a shoulder length apart from his left, he pointed his toes and rapier, grasped in his right hand, tip in the direction of Sindon. Slightly bringing his left hand up behind his head. "You may not see yourself as a teacher but you've already taught me quite a bit. How's that?" he questioned.

  5. "While I disagree with your notion that choosing a weapon for the sake of being different is "stupid" I do agree that my reasoning should've been better. While I have no experience with the weapon for the most part, I did wholeheartedly believe that the challenge to master it was more than enough to make me want to choose it. Your experience is certainly worthy of your weapon choice though." He seems really well versed in the usage of the rapier. I could definitely learn a thing or two from him. "Any chance while were out there, that you could teach me some basics?" Continuing to stroll behind Sindon, they finally seemed to arrive at their destination. So this is the Grasslands... hmm..aside from some trees, a stream to our left and an awkward small rock formation to our left...there's not to much out here. I see a few specks in the distance. Friendlies or foes? I wonder if PKers exist on this level? That would be bad news for any player. Lets hope it doesn't come to that.

  6. Still watching the group, he noticed that one of the members had spotted him. Well so much for trying to be all incognito huh? Against his better judgement, he made his way to the group of players. Palms sweaty, he sputtered out an awkward introduction. "H..hi ..uhm I've been watching you guys..Way to sound creepy already.... and I was..uh.mm...wondering if I could join you in your activities? Why can't I spit this pathetic introduction out? I'm not usually this nervous. Is it the high leveled player that's giving me the willies or what? Maybe its that quiet lower high level that's been staring into space since I've been here? He's freaking me out a little. Gesturing to the less high leveled player, " Is that guy okay? He's been gawking at air for quite a while now.."

  7. Upon approaching the gate to the Grasslands, Oikawa had become lost in thought. I wonder what combat will be like. Considering I've never used a rapier before. I mean I used to pretend fence with my brother, but we never took the time to learn to properly fence. Oh no!?! What if I look like and idiot trying to stab a boar or something, or worse what if I impale myself? Ridiculous. He brushed the thought from his mind. There's no way I'd be that clumsy. I'm better than that. If nothing else maybe this guy has experience with this weapon. Maybe he could help me hone some degree of skill. Breaking the silence Oikawa questioned his new companion. "So are you proficient with that weapon you're handling or did you choose it because it was different than what most people go for?"

  8. Panting from his escape from a solitary wolf that had tried to bite him while he dozed off in the grassland, Oikawa, a young man with short blond hair, a mischievous grin, and a knack for getting himself into situations where he doesn't belong, bent over to catch his ragged breath. Still panting he observed his new surroundings. Noting the amount of players in the given area, he noticed one in particular. A young female perched against a tree, seeming to do a little observation herself. Hmm, first female gamer ive seen since I linked in. She's pretty cute honestly, but I'd rather see what she can do on the battlefield. Like I can talk though, I just ran a away from a lowly Lvl 1 Wolf. I have no room to judge battle skills hahaha. Oh well maybe she has some experience in the monster killing department. Finally catching his breath, Oikawa headed in the direction of the miss with pigtails. "Excuse me miss, You wouldn't happen to know... you know... how to not die by wolf mutilation would ya?" I just said mutilation... great now she's gonna think I'm a weirdo...

  9. Noticing that the his rapier piqued Sindon's interest, "Yeah it has a pretty sweet default coloration. No added effects though" answering Sindon's silent question."Hmm, so we should be there in no time" he asked aloud. Following the other player into a larger plaza, he observed the amount of hussle and bussle that ran through it. Booming side businesses, restless merchants, and the occasional street performer. The amount of cheeriness and overall realism of life displayed here, is..surreal. Maybe this isn't going to be the worst thing I could have encountered in life.

  10. After wandering the city for what seemed like hours, Oikawa finally made it to a player-ripe plaza. "Finally other players!" he exclaimed. A little ahead to his right, sat a cluster of players. Noting that most of the group seemed like noobs such as himself, he also acknowledged the the 2 higher leveled ones. Not wanting to crash their party of sorts, he decided he'll see what they're up to. Maybe they're going to go kill stuff or loot hunting...or maybe they're all going home ... I hope it's the former. Maybe I can watch and learn something. I wonder if they'll let me join them? Guess we'll see. Oikawa continued to watch them. He decided to keep a safe distance, not wanting to be noticed too much.

  11. As Sindon lead the way, Oikawa followed his gesture in silence. Not having much to say, he decided he'd evaluate the guy. After taking various turns, Oikawa realized something. This guy gives off a weird vibe, not good... not bad... hmm I can't quite pinpoint it. He also walks so quietly, no wonder I didn't see or hear him. It's like he gives off no presence at all... Picking up the pace to keep up with him, he glanced at the weapon Sindon was carrying. A rapier!?! We have more in common than I thought. "Yo, is that a rapier you're carrying there? I have one of my own," he explained. Bringing up the menu, he opened up the inventory, and equipped his own rapier... Eluciador. In milliseconds, the black and gold weapon appeared on his hip; held up by a leather strap. "So how much longer 'til we reach our destination Cap?" Oikawa inquired.

  12. " Haha, no worries man. You're definitely right. Had I watched the news, I probably would've strayed away from this death trap. I don't really watch the news, I probably should change that, never anything positive ever being said." OH MY AINCRAD... no wonder the game store owner sold me the game for half price, he exclaimed quitely to himself. *FACEPALM* Noting that the guy was just staring at him now, Oikawa composed himself and spoke. "Sindon was it? Cool name. It'd be great if you showed me the way. This city is intimidatingly massive and I'd rather not get lost shamefully on the first day." Running his fingers through his blonde bangs, he checked out the direction of the mentioned plaza. " So just through there right? Lead the way man."

  13. Looking over the strange guy, he noted that they wear similar clothing. I wonder if all characters start out wearing the same thing..Snapping away from his thought train he answered the guy. "I was on my way out to seek some help. I don't know if you realized this yourself, but it seems we're trapped in-game. We can't Logout,  so I've decided I want to train up and help clear some of these floors. Can you point me to the nearest exit? I want to fight some low-level baddies." Wow I sound like the typical noob... Losing himself in thought again. "Oh! Excuse my rudeness. I haven't asked your name?"

  14. Still looking for help, Oikawa continued full steam ahead. "Well it can't be that hard to find some low level baddies to beat on right? He thought aloud. Now breaking into a near sprint, he didn't realize he was approaching an unsuspecting traveler. *SMACK* Colliding head on with the player , Oikawa fell over him, clutching his chest. Regaining his breath, he got up and dusted himself off. He spoke while gesturing to help the guy up. " Hey my name is Oikawa. Sorry about that. I didn't see ya there." Flashing the player a genuine smile. Well that's  gotta be awkward. I meet one person and I'm already knocking them into the ground. He thought to himself.

  15.   After running for what seemed like ages, Oikawa finally encountered a small inn. Entering the inn, he could't help but stare in awe at the beauty that was this game. Sitting down in a booth near the door, Oikawa brought up the menu once again. Checking the time he noted that he could play for about 30 minutes before need to get ready for work. Not wanting to bother anyone just yet, he decided to just sit for a bit and take it all in.

To his left a small conversation between two panicked players started. From what he could gather apparently there was an announcement that the option to leave the game had been removed. Not wanting to believe what he had just overheard, he brough up the menu and checked for himself. Sure enough the option to Logout was grayed out. "What the..? This can't be for real can it? Surely its a bug, right? Right?" questioned the newbie gamer. Deciding not to panic, he analyzed his best options available to him. "Well if I'm going to be stuck here I might aswell give it the best I've got 'til I'm outta here."

Without giving it a second thought, he rose from his seat and headed out the door. Not having a clue where to go he looked for someone who could direct him to the best spot for newbies to train. "Maybe someone will be kind enough to point me in the right direction. This town is HUGE!!"

  16. Salutations my name is Oikawa(my japanese alter ego. Based off of Oikawa from Haikyuu). I'm new to the SAO RP, I used to RP on Naruto.viz but then they changed the battle system. I haven't RP'd in a while and I figured I've loved SAO thus far, so I came to re-hone my skills and get back into RPing. Looking forward to playing with those in SAO and GGO!

    BIO:

Oikawa is approximately 5'10" (177.8 cm) in height and weighs in at a light 160 lbs. (73 kg). He has short chestnut brown hair that falls no longer than the bottom of his ears. He has amber irises that glow with a golden hue when he's excited about something.

    Virtues:
Diligent: Oikawa takes great care and honor in finishing what he's started. He's never been one to quit on a friend or task if he could help it. This makes him rather reliable with most things as well as confident in his ability to tackle most tasks.

Social: Oikawa is generally friendly with everyone, usually making friends wherever he can. His outgoing nature allows him to befriend even some the loneliest of people while his charismatic charm makes it all the easier to talk to women. A skill that often makes it appear that he's more flirtatious than friendly when in their presence.

Analytical: For the most part, Oikawa could be considered a logical thinker. Not too often will he put himself in a position that wasn't calculated to some extent. Even when unsure of the outcome, he is able to analyze a situation for what it is and act accordingly if need be.

Honorable: Oikawa usually tries to speak highly of most and remain respectable in all situations. He often speaks in ways akin to the nobleman you see in movies. He sets good morals for himself and holds no one more accountable than himself.

    Flaws:
Overprotective: An excessive trait he has had since he was little. Whether it was his toys or his younger siblings, Oikawa has always been hyper aware of those he cares about and will see to it that if he can, no harm would come to them. Though this can be seen as a good thing, often times it puts him in a position that was more unfavorable than if he had not intervened.

Perfectionist: Unrealistic would sum up the view Oikawa holds for himself at times. The standard he tries to hold himself to and the image he wants others to have of him, often leads him to attempting perfection in everything he does. However, like most toxic traits, this brings the worse out of him. And at times, this causes him to be disappointed when the pristine image he wishes to uphold is sullied.

Blunt: Despite his ability to to talk highly and respectably to others, the brunette is no stranger to his sharp tongue. If deemed appropriate (or even sometimes when it is inappropriate) he says whats on his mind filtered or not and has no qualms with letting someone have it the way it needs to be heard.

Self-Deprecated: With the lost of his friend and fellow Commandant, Zelrius, Oikawa has become subject to self-deprecation. Often times he feels he isn't, nor will he ever be, worth of redemption and is constantly battling with himself in regards to it. Only time will tell if his will can help him over come this flaw of his.

    HISTORY

    Pre-SAO

As a kid, Oikawa was spoiled for much of his childhood. His parent's weren't rich but they made sure he had everything he wanted and needed. Around the age 9 or 10 he became really interested in video games. Having never played them before, he was absolutely thrilled when he was allowed to have his first gaming console. Like many people however there were rules to having his game system. He had to make sure his chores and homework done before he even touched the T.V. This type of rules developed a hardworking personality for the boy. H e realized that no matter what he wanted in life he had to work for it. When he was younger his parents had divorced. oddly this hadn't affected him until his dad remarried. This new woman in his life was like no other. In front of his father, she was a kind, loving and caring person, but behind closed doors and his father's frequent absence due to military service, she was an evil heartless woman who never wanted anything to do with kids.

Oikawa was constantly in trouble with his step-mother. She always found ways to get him in trouble with his father and with her. This led to hateful relationship towards his father and his wife. The two would always beat him if he ever spoke is his mind about something or did something wrong at school or home. These constant beatings led him to learn how to lie and weasel his way out of situations. This also led to more beatings as when he got caught, things turned way south. This, in turn, developed a crazy side within the boy. Having hated to get beat again and again, he developed a place in his head where instead of being the one tortured, he was doing the torturing. He knew in his mind that it was wrong but it was the only way he could cope with the pain of constant beatings.

As he grew older he suppressed his coping mechanism, and found a way to move in with his mother. Living with his mom was so much easier than with his father. She wasn't  as well off as his father, but she made sure just the same that he was always taken care of. Her caring personality and constant motherly love helped further suppress his more sadistic inner self, and allowed him to function just as he was before his parents had divorced.

Having still kept an interest in games  through all the crazy , he decided early on in high school that he wanted to become a video game designer. Taking thoughts from his past and ideas from various other games, Oikawa had compiled an idea book for horror games. While not wanting to be one dimensional he also took notes on various fighting, first person shooter and racing games. Those were the games he played as a youngster so he also had interest in them as well.

    Month Before and SAO

In the last month of summer, Oikawa received a letter of acceptance to the University of Utah. A school with strong connections to various game developing studios and a top rated program for video games design, it was a dream come true for him. Oikawa decided to get a jump on learning computer programming. He began learning to render 3D game art, how to write code in C++ and Java, and kept himself informed about the latest technology in gaming. Hearing about the preorder signup for SAO from a source he had gained as a student at the university, Oikawa hastily signed up. Now he could have a first hand account on something he's been striving for all his life. This game will be the gateway to his end goal...who's to say he can't be the best along the way?
