  1. "I'll go ahead and message him", Kaluluwa said opening up his menu in order to message Nobuyuki in order to send the following message:

    We're coming your way.
    - Kaluluwa

He listened to Sutiru's story and saying how the things in SAO are very different from the real world. "Well, I'd hate to be one to burst your bubble but of course it's different. Use your knowledge in basic attacks though, I haven't really used sword arts either but...", Kaluluwa trailed off. This would probably be the time he'd nervously smile as to signify to forget it but he couldn't really do it in his current state. They walked the rest of the way in silence until they arrived to the gate/arch of Starting City.

  2. "Mhm", Kaluluwa simply uttered in response to Sutiru's question. While accepting the party invitation sent by one of the players from earlier, he started moving towards the gate. "Name's Kaluluwa, Don't pay attention to the screen name." No combat ever? Well, after the announcement at least. He looked over to Sutiru and spoke, "I can't use that sword, but I can tell you how to use it. I'm a dagger person myself." With that last sentence, Kaluluwa moved his hand to the right of his hip and tapped the sheathe. "Each man to his own though."

((It''s completely all right, if you mean by the SAO-RPG system it's quite easy to teach you. If you mean IC then that's even easier!))

  3. Where else could he find some inspiration other than the forest? He continued his search for places. Where he's been. Nothing really came to mind. Nothing really decided to come to him. Nothing happy did at the very least. Since he's come here, he's had some friends. Or more like acquaintances. But those places weren't really easily accessible at this point in time. He stopped by at the north gate, hoping that he could find some inspiration there. Nothing. Nothing struck out at him. He needed to leave Starting City.

  4. Kaluluwa exited the tavern and walked over to the main plaza. To where the death game announcement took place. He sat down at a bench under a tree and breathed in. The memory was clear in his mind, he looked around noticing all of the people getting shocked by their regular appearance in the game. The sky turning red and blood oozing from the sky. The cloaked figure coming out. He remembered every bit of it . He didn't want to remember the rest, he didn't want to remember the pain. He left the plaza.

  5. Kaluluwa traversed around Starting City, hoping to find some inspiration. He wanted to avoid running towards the forest for today, he didn't want to accidentally run into some mobs. He wanted to avoid fighting for today. Kaluluwa walked around, seeing and stopped at a nearby tavern. People were already trying to drink away their worries this early in the day, trying to forget the problems of the death game. Kaluluwa sat down at the booth, listening quietly to the conversations that were happening.

Sadly, nothing interesting was going on. Most people were just sitting quietly drinking away at their worries. Kaluluwa felt pity towards the people but not inspired. They were drinking their worries away. He suppressed his memories of the Philippines, trying not to remember. Today was his day off, just enjoyment.

  6. The NPC began talking. "So you like my music? How'd you like to play it yourself?" Kaluluwa simply nodded, hoping that Kayaba took in mind mutes into the quest system. "Alright then, but first you'll need to find some inspiration. My name is Ichous. Come back here when you find what speaks to you." Is that all? I was expecting a bit more than just that introduction since the game's creator is soooo goood... Kaluluwa set off nonetheless. Quiet was best anyways, he knew where to go to.

  7. Kaluluwa had begun traversing Starting City in search for what he'd hoped for an NPC mentor. After going around town, he often noticed some players talking to NPCs and until yesterday never got the courage to ask them why they'd been doing so. Apparently, all of the hustle was created by a quest that allowed them to become a profession, get a job. He asked around, hearing tons of people saying that they'd become an alchemist, blacksmith, or tailor but then he found what he'd been looking for.

He found someone playing an instrument, a mandolin that sounded similar to Kaluluwa's guitar in the real world. He asked the person who she was, and Kaluluwa was surprised to see a quest notification pop up afterwards saying the following. "Would you like to take the Earning a Living Quest?" Kaluluwa quickly accepted it, knowing that the NPC was actually going to teach him how to play the mandolin in the virtual world. Kaluluwa had no other thought that just that, playing an instrument. He wasn't even thinking about the possibilities he could do. This was for his own pleasure, to satisfy himself.

  8. What am I doing wandering around Starting City? Kaluluwa wondered to himself. He's been outside, he can do everything he needs to. Needed to at the very least. He remembers hearing someone saying about the monster algorithms suddenly changing and rumors going about a huge system revamp. He didn't need that in his life for a little while. Once he got more information he'd go back out.

Then there were the sheep in Starting City. Milling about, each heading down their own path. Still shocked and trying to deal with realizing the dangers of this death game. Except, this time something caught his eye. There was a man laying down on the floor and two were watching over him, no inspecting him. They were curious. Kaluluwa had no choice but to look because he's also heard of a new exploit that he needed to see just in case they were trying to harm the man.

Thankfully though, no one was doing said exploit. As Kaluluwa walked towards the group, they were asking if the man was alright. Kaluluwa decided to add in to the conversation, "Don't worry about the death game." He instantly wanted to take that back. He was himself scared of dying but most people were not used to fighting for survival like he did. "I mean, nothing bad will happen to you. I swear." Kaluluwa's monotonous voice came in handy for a millisecond under the blue moon where his voice would have been cracking in despair.

  9. FINE!!! I'm finally going to say it.

Nu, Jomei. I know it'll happen. Just nurture that thread or two that you're both in and it'll happen. Please, for the sake of Axios. Let his death bring something together. And that's giving it away.

About 5 months @Jomei and you barely are close friends? I mean, keep it going but still. I expected more.

    1) Yes, all items aside from crystals are used in place of any combat actions, or even equipment switching.

    2) Yes

    3) Yes, like-items are currently allowed unlimited stacks. i.e., having 20,000 perfect health crystals in one slot

    4) Yes

    6) Only one item may be eaten per turn, but I believe fisherman bonuses are usually prepared by a cooperating cook (acting as bonus enhancements to whatever the cook prepares with the enhanced ingredients)

I'm kind of confused about #6 still. Do the two items become one item if the cook prepares the fish, or not?

    5 hours ago, Takao said:

    5. You'll have to be more descriptive with this. Do you mean using an overhealth project and another item in the same turn? If so, then no. It requires a post action to use.

    7. Damage mitigation is calculated after parry, since their sword is hitting your parry before it's hitting their armour.

    8. NO BANND 5EVER GO AWAI

For #5, I meant like using the overhealth project then switching it out for another trinket/lucky charm. Which then brings up another question that could resolve it, is an overhealth project considered an equipment or is it considered a battle-ready item as a lucky charm is considered an equipment? If it's the latter then my question was of absolutely no use.

Also Takao, for #7 that was what I was hoping for :D. Let's just say that 288 damage would seem a lot less after parry and damage mitigation. Yes I like crunching numbers.

New question as well: For all of the repeatable quests, when you repeat them can you get the extra SP as well?

Thanks both of you, you're both extremely helpful!

  11. So, sorry for doing this but I've been looking at the tutorials lately to find out what I can do for a build I'm planning for my character and I got a few unanswered questions (well, if they were answered in the tutorials then I'm sorry).

    1) So all temporary items other than the crystal take one turn in order to use with no other actions (ie. Songs, Cooks, Fish, Projects)?

    2) Can you have 3 equipment equipped and one familiar?

    3) Does temporary items stack (ie. Two safeguards is one battle-ready slot)?

    4) Does Accuracy and other +BD enhancements stack (ie. Keen)?

    5) If you were to use an overhealth project, could you switch it out with another artisan item immediately or no?

    6) Can you eat cook and fisherman products the same turn (I was just wondering since they stack)?

    7) Is damage mitigation calculated before or after the halving of a parry?

    8) Can you forgive me for this many questions?

  12. "Well, Toothpick thanks for introducing me", Kaluluwa attempted to say sarcastically to no avail. Dracul Vladislav? European? Who says the Third or Junior anymore when giving an introduction? Kaluluwa brushed it off, putting his thoughts aside for a while. After all, they were just a few things he was curious about. The one thing that did make Kaluluwa a little bit antsy was the fact that the maid-like girl called herself his servant. Not because that they were bound to each other as he's seen it multiple times before, but the fact that they were so formal. So this guy was rich before the game? Is he still the same now, or is he just pretending about his past? He decided not to delve deeper into it.

Dracul then asked the pair what was the purpose of this meeting and if there would be any others coming. Kaluluwa responded, "I can answer the first one. To travel the second floor in search for materials while not getting mauled by mobs. I have to thank Toothpick for that one. Toothpick will have to answer the second one though, he's the one who organized all of this." Kaluluwa was attempting to joke with the end of the first sentence, obviously his tone was too serious enough to make anything out of it. Materials means able to trade it in for somethings, materials means gear, it means life in the upper floors.

  13. ((Absolutely no problem at all, I was actually not posting for a while because I was a bit worried that Toothpick subtly told me to stop posting for a while to let others to join.))

As soon as Toothpick had said how it was all for nothing if no one else joined, another group joined. One man and one girl. All of them probably older than Kaluluwa was himself. "Well, guess I won't be the only one that'll be coming along on this journey", Kaluluwa spoke to Toothpick. He strided over to the side of the bench and then called out to the group asking a simple question. Or rather, he was stating something he thought was true. Why else would a group of people come here, it would be a bit oddly specific. "So you also signed up for this little venture out onto floor 2." He looked back over to Toothpick and nodded his head towards the group. In fact, he'd be smiling right now if he could. He'd have added more flavor to his words, but it just wouldn't come out. His speech was the same, had his accent, had his overbearring monotone. His face was also the same, rigid as if it was carved out of stone.

  14. The disarm function seems really promising, but I'd have to disagree with everything else. However I believe that it should be restricted to a certain range of weapons and be restricted at a perfect natural CD roll. For example, disarming someone with a knife, polearm, spear, axe, or hammer (not checking the list just naming a few) is very impractical. However doing it with a sword or your bare hands (martial arts) is very capable. However this punishes PVP combat in lower levels due to the fact that most will rarely do the Unbreakable quest.

  15. I seem like another player? Nah, probably just on the surface. Toothpick gave Kaluluwa a firm handshake while speaking. Then he gave him his real name. Peter? Toothpick, or rather Peter, asked why Kaluluwa decided to join in on the venture. "Not really sure why", he responded. "I mean getting necessary items for buying equipment is nice, but you provided a safe alternative to grinding mobs." Kaluluwa paused and looked out at the scenery. "You'll help out a lot of people who've changed their minds about staying inside of the safe zones." Kaluluwa looked back, probably sounding sarcastic due to his monotonous voice but he genuinely wanted it to get out there. He genuinely was trying to say thank you in a less direct way.

  16. Sleeping grounds? Sleuth426? Is he joking? "Uh, no. Sorry. I'm not sure which of my names I signed up on your poster actually... And none of my names are Sleuth426", Kaluluwa spoke and struggled a little bit with the username. Toothpick was sitting there nonchalantly while Kaluluwa was standing there, a bit confused. Just exactly how many people signed up? When I did, there was barely anyone. "I'm pretty sure though I'd put Paglikha", Kaluluwa explained himself. "I know it's a mouthful, but so is my real name which I prefer for you to call me by." He put out his hand to invite a handshake before finishing, "So whether it's Kaluluwa or Paglikha, I don't mind."

  17. Kaluluwa was wandering around when he got a message from a player known as Toothpick. He wondered when he had heard that name before, until he remembered the poster that he'd seen around the towns. To think it wasn't a scam... Or it could be a trap... Well, might as well check it out. Kaluluwa was a bit skeptical, seeing as though it was just a random poster that he signed from a while back. Nevertheless, he followed the directions until he found a player with the same username as the person who sent him the message. "I'm guessing you're Toothpick?"

((Sorry for not adding too much detail, the place that you're in right now and the map is open to interpretation so I thought it would just be better to meet you. Plus I'm running out of time.))

  18. Running back to Starting City, Kaluluwa felt empty. He wanted to run back, try to live through the night and the rest of Aincrad by Axios' tree. But he knew it wouldn't do anyone any good. His friend would probably ask him why he decided to do that. I really am selfish, aren't I? No, I'm not. I'm just loyal. I didn't want his life to end, I didn't want our friendship to end. Kaluluwa sprinted as far as he can. He'd always return there, that much he knew. However he knew it wouldn't be every time.

He ran back to Starting City and entered the safe zone. He started realizing his prison never had bars. It was always in terms of relationships. He always ran away from his parents to escape starvation, but they needed him so he always returned. This time, in this new world, he was now running away from the tree to escape death, but he needs to visit the tree to pay respects so he'll always return. My world was limited to my province in the Philippines before I came to Japan, I thought I'd escape a prison. Now I realize that I just entered another one, this time I cannot escape so easily.

  19. Kaluluwa turned his back to the tree, before realizing that he was saying goodbye. Goodbye to a friend, goodbye to a life, goodbye to something old. He turned around to face the tree once more before saying, "Hey, Juhmer. I'm not... I'm not leaving you. You're not leaving me. I don't know what happens after you die in this world, whether what the creator was said was true or not, but I'm going to be back. Stay right here." Kaluluwa released a breath. It was getting colder and the forest was getting darker. He needed to leave soon or else he'd be met with the same fate as his friend.

"Before I leave, I realize that this food will be gone soon. But... I don't know much about Japanese traditions, but I know offering food and incense to those passed is just courtesy." Kaluluwa swiped through his inventory really quick in order to bring up the few things he had in his inventory. "Paki-tanggap ito... Ingat ka." He took out his inventory a couple loafs of bread and a few water.

  20. Silence fell over the forest. Not even the wind dared to make its whistling sound. Time was frozen. Time was frozen in Kaluluwa's visible world. It was frozen in his friend's world. "I already know why. My famous quote is yet to disprove itself. The saddest people smile the brightest, the loneliest people are the kindest, and the most damaged people are the wisest." He paused for a while, hoping for a response, maybe even a sound.

Five seconds, nothing. "You fit into two of those categories my friend. Sad due to the bullies in your former school and our school, yet lonely due to being a misfit", Kaluluwa explained. "I... I'll be back... I'm not going to leave you. In one way or the other, I'll stay connected." That was when nature's sound filled the forest. He swore that the entire world listened to him talk. Then he realized only 10,000 people got trapped in this game. Out of his few friends, Juhmer just had to be one.

  21. "Yet company does not reciprocate. The reason after I found out all of your guys' stories. I hoped that you'd be able to understand how each other felt. Survive together." I must sound really silly. Survive right now has taken on a new meaning for me. No, rather it's an old meaning with a new perspective. "I—", Kaluluwa trailed off and looked down at the forest floor. "Why couldn't you just wait for me?"

"Why couldn't you wait for me to find you? Why couldn't you just stay out at Starting City so that I could get to you quicker? Why? Why? Why?", Kaluluwa spoke. His voice was steady unlike his current mind. His heart was screaming out for mercy. It was screaming out to let every secret, every emotion, every thought out.

  22. Kaluluwa sighed. "Misery loves company...", he trailed off. "I'd like to come clean, I gathered up the group for a selfish initial reason. Not the one I've been telling you guys." Kaluluwa unsheathed his dagger and started fiddling with the tip. "I wanted to see how other people had pain. I'd hoped that it'd make me feel better." Kaluluwa slowly bent his knees until it came to a squat. "You know, I was the new guy in town. The one no one knew. At least at that time." Kaluluwa sat down with his legs spread outward. "I thought maybe, just maybe, someone had a worse life than me. What I found was a group of people who's experienced misery. That I didn't want them to get hurt again."

"I don't want anyone else to get hurt. I don't want anyone else to die", Kaluluwa proclaimed. His voice as stoic as ever, but his mind went quiet. “I didn’t want the group to get hurt either. After I realized that my misery didn’t come close to the rest of the group.” I never told them my story did I? “However, it was two different things. I was physically hurt and emotionally as well. But I had friends. You guys were physical fine. But you guys were hurt emotionally, and didn’t have friends.”

  23. He wanted to slam his fist into the tree. If someone came by, it'd be a lot more awkward than what he was doing a few moments before. He'd probably just say that there was no reason if they asked and then they'd see his face. The player would probably think something was wrong with him. That he was sick in the head. "It doesn't matter anymore", Kaluluwa said. "I've been living in this game and been searching for you. And none of it mattered. I don't know when you died. I don't know if you truly died." Kaluluwa paused. He thought he was going to cry for once in his life but the emotion quelled down. "But, you probably did." He paused again, he wanted a moment of silence.

"Juhmer, or Axios, or whatever your name was. I'll live on as long as I can. How long it will be until my time comes? I have no idea." Another pause, this time to gather his composure. "If you were Juhmer, I'd like to say that all those times I seemed rough and callous, I wanted to be kind and sweet. Though you'd already know why. I gathered all of the misfits in the school and brought us together." His eyes blinked. Once, twice. Probably the most emotion he's shown although it was extremely subtle. "Misery loves company, but company does not reciprocate. How silly that seems now. So many people are miserable in this world, but so were we in the real one." The wind whistled in his ear as if it was whispering in agreement.

  24. He slowly trudged over to the nearest tree. He looked at its trunk, not seeing Juhmer's — or rather Axios' — last mark. He fell to his knees. He scooted along the floor until his back met the front of the trunk. He put up his knees, then put his head in the middle. Am I crying? His hand rose to his head, his face, and finally his cheek. Nothing. Not even a trail. I'm sorry... He took up his knife, and realized something. His friend must've had the same weapon as him. It would've been extremely difficult to do it with a sword, spear, or an axe.

He stood up. Walked over to the tree. The virtual wind blew in his virtual ears. The virtual trees were swaying. And yet, pain was all he felt. He raised his knife to the trunk of the tree. He started carving a new message below the initial carving. The new addition now read, "Kaluluwa (Paglikha) wasn't in time to save his friend. He also regrets." He sheathed his knife again, and put his head against the trunk. How awkward it must've looked like if he were found out right now by someone. A man mourning a loss without crying,
