  1. This new man named Saizou still towered over Kaluluwa. It was a bit demeaning and he had to wonder if these people were even the same race. Then he remembered a key thing. Muttering under his breath, he spoke, "You shouldn't judge someone by how they look, we're all struggling to survive." Then exhaled.

"Nice to meet you Saizou", as I reach out my hand to shake Benoit's companion's hands. For some reason, it felt weirder; more tense. He attempted a smile in order to show friendliness, still unable to even procure some type of expression of emotion and he became afraid that it came out as a scowl. "Yeah, I'm a fast person. Or at least I'm trying to be." He paused for a moment. "What brings you two to the gate of Starting City?"

  2. A man approached Kaluluwa, and he was a giant. Huge, burly, Kaluluwa was pretty apprehensive. The man started yelling out to him. Another person was staring at the pair through the corner, looking a bit embarassed. He figured that he would join soon enough.

Learning the man's name being Benoit and being overly friendly he was bound to be a bit anxious. But one thing that did alert him was the man's level. It was extremely low, even lower than Kaluluwa's own level. He extended his hand to greet Benoit and said simply, "My name's Paglikha. Call me Kaluluwa." His voice was firm and his face was straight as ever. It was times like this he was only partially thankful for it seeing as that he would probably making the face expression of a scared puppy, but now he was just shaking in his boots with a weird level-headed face.

  3. Kaluluwa was standing at the arch of Starting City, waiting for a group of players to team up with. He had met some resistance in his previous excursion, but nothing he was unable to handle. He knew what happened to his friend and feared the same thing for himself. He was hoping to find some people he could possibly help. Something to pass on, he leaned back onto the wall kicking his feet up. I wonder what destiny will bring me today. Inhaling, he looked towards the innards of Starting City. He saw many players this day, but none was coming towards the gate. That was at least not yet.

  4. Things had started to become a bit more serious because as soon as someone had made a comment about how they need more space, the blacksmith had decided to hit someone out of the tent forcefully using the axe on his back. What surprised him even more was the lack of negative reaction in the shopowner and the sudden business-like attitude he resumed having right after hitting the man. Due to the large amounts of commotion, he was able to piece together some people's names. The second girl that came right behind him was Teion and two of the men that had just walked out must be Vasth and Mack.

Kaluluwa just had to shake his head. Sure Mack couldn't kill the other dude, but it still was pretty harsh. Then he heard the cursing starting. He sighed and duly said, "Yeah, I'd prefer going to somewhere else to talk..." He really didn't like the tension throughout the air. Obviously some people knew each other prior to this event, and everyone who was new was obvious. I wonder what caused Mack to do that.. He waved it off.

Most of the group had already left the tent, there were only four occupants and Kaluluwa decided to lift up the tent flap as to sign that it might be best to go now. "My screen name is Paglikha. You can just call me Kaluluwa", he said to the remaining players in the tent, not really directing it to one individual.

  5. Kaluluwa stepped outside of the gate in Starting City and looked up. I guess it is more of an arch than it is a gate... He knew he was nervous, he was just trying to get his mind off of whatever could happen to him. He wouldn't want to die. I wouldn't want to leave my parents without food.

He'd made a mistake, actively triggering his memories. It was less forceful this time though, unlike all of the other times. He was able to take a grab in front of him and also see the good times. Sadly, those were all of his friends. His memories did have some with his parents and when he snapped out of it, his father's voice continued to ring out devoid of care of his own son.

Kaluluwa was by no means emotional or sentimental, but the past was hard to face. He'd left all of his friends in the Philippines and abandoned his own family for his own wishes. He felt empty, depressed even but his face was still rigid as always.
  6. Weirdly enough, Kaluluwa felt as if he was being ignored by the majority of the group as they all focused on the girl that just entered right after him, at least, all but the girl named Shirosu and Mack. He simply sighed, knowing that it was bound to be like this if there was a girl no matter where he went. It was just human nature, you put a bunch of testosterone-driven males in a confined area and you put only a few females, well Kaluluwa passed by enough ranches and farms in the Philippines to know.

The shopowner had just finished arguing with the person in the front and had already started advertising his wares and his guild to Kaluluwa and Teion. “I’ll consider it”, he started speaking, “of course, it all depends on what I find out…” The idea of Juhmer being out there by himself concerned him. “By any chance, would any of you guys happen to know my friend? His real name was Juhmer, don’t know about his username though. Last time I saw him was…” he trailed off, partially embarrassed, and just looked up attempting a smile that he just couldn’t make. Even in here, I can’t show anything how I truly feel. And I was told that ANYTHING was possible in here.

  7. Kaluluwa knew that he shouldn't be out of Starting City at this early level. He barely had anything to keep him alive, a lot less than the frontliners. He didn't care much about what the frontliners did, he did care about their safety though. In fact, everyone's.

He knew that there was players finally getting the idea to get out of Starting City and trying to get stronger. He was one of them, but it wasn't just for himself. Rather, it was for those who couldn't do anything. He knew that Juhmer wouldn't be out there fighting. He was too timid, almost spineless and he'd break down.

He shook off his ideas of his friend. For all Kaluluwa knew, Juhmer was already a frontliner. The information broker business was in a current stand-by so little was known about progress in Aincrad. Kaluluwa needed to be fast, faster than anyone if he wanted to be good and not die. I have to pick my fights and not get cocky.

He nervously sheathed and unsheathed his dagger while standing at the gate, breathing in and out. He was trying to lower his heartrate, and the sound of blood circulating pounded his ears. Kaluluwa, sheathed his dagger for the last time and balled his fists before heading out.

  8. Kaluluwa was still following the players when they entered the market district. Personally, he didn't have any of the game's currency (Col) so he never really entered this area. Most of it was NPC-ran anyways with a few exceptions that showed the more pricey items. That was when the group he was following entered the tent, all except one. For some reason he was left out, probably by the leader of the group. Maybe to keep guard?

Kaluluwa's suspicions however were quickly dismissed as the last person entered the tent, not even looking around to make sure he wasn't followed. Kaluluwa decided to go up to the tent and then open up the flap. To his surprise, he saw the original leader wearing a cloak. Not only that, but a cloak very similar to the one Kayaba wore during the death game announcement. Clearing his voice, he started speaking. "Please don't dell me that there are cults in this game... Eef there are, I don't understand why someone would do that." Then he sighed. He forgot that he set his NerveGear to the universal translator to tagalog, so he was probably sounding a bit weird for the others.

((First time my character actually talked, just wanted to make it apparent that he had an accent/has a different native language.))

  9. Oh, alright. Last time I actually officially checked the rules (to be honest) was quite a while back in one of my previous incarnations and I didn't bother much with having too much items. I'm still partially certain about switching between weapons as I saw (was it Mari?) someone ask about it. I'll go ahead and double-check.

TL;DR: My mistake on capacity, still partially sure about weapon switching.

  10. Actually @Hirru, if I remember correctly, you are only partially correct. The inventory space is 6 dealing with battle-ready & equipped items combined. You have a maximum of 3 equipped items at a time and you could upgrade (double-check if I'm wrong) the rest of your battle-ready/dormant inventory. The reason why I call it dormant is that I'm fairly certain you can keep some weapons in those slots, BUT you need an entire post action to switch it out. An example would be that I had a knife with extra DMG and another one with Bleeding. I could switch between the two, BUT it would take me an entire post to switch between the two knives.

Other than that, Hirru is correct.

  11. Paglikha will be basically a forehand and backhand dagger movement (holding the knife outwards/holding the knife sideways). His forehand technique will more likely be the more rigid one where he leans forward with minimal movements to the left and right. On the other hand, his backhand technique will more likely be loose with side-to-side movements.

  12. It was quite peculiar for Kaluluwa to see a group of veteran players group up against a newer one. He was just planning on watching behind this wall for a while until he saw that the new player that was in the middle, was a girl. No doubt, that might've been a factor. A few of them had gotten up, they were way out of earshot but their verbal expressions said almost everything. One of them was scorning the other and that exact same person started leading the girl to someplace else. The girl was still continually looking back, probably just to see if anyone else was going to follow them. Of course, to keep out of trouble, he was just going to skirt around them and keep an eye out. He was even weaker than the girl and the veterans were so much stronger than the both of them combined and knew for a fact that it would only take a single hit. Just what is going on? He put his hands in his pockets and came out from the building, just keeping them in his peripheral vision.

  13. Roleplays/Story Thus Far:

    Entry #0:
I just picked up the NerveGear and the game called SAO from the shop, I barely was able to get in place for it and it was packed. I'm sort of glad that a few people in front of me decided that the line wasn't worth it and left. I was on the verge of leaving myself until I was able to get inside and buy it. In my little abode, I'll set up the game and then calibrate the NerveGear like how they taught me, hopefully I'll be able to find some people to help me fieldtest my skills.

    Entry #0.5 (( Starting City )):
I had looked at my phone one last time to see that I was not the only one to get the game out of my friends. My friend named Juhmer has also gotten the game and I didn't respond as I wanted to surprise him by finding him. However, my plan backfired because as soon as I entered, the cloaked man came out of nowhere and announced he was Kayaba. That everyone was trapped, that everyone would die in real life if they died in the game, and the only way they could get out was to defeat all of Aincrad. The mirror that soon appeared in my inventory let me look exactly like how I did in real life, and allowed me to find my friend Juhmer even easier. Sadly though, I was swept away with the panicking crowds only to catch a glimpse of him with his back to a pillar looking defeated. I hope I can see him.

    Entry #1 (( [OP-F1] First Steps | COMPLETE )):
So, probably one of the first times I've ever interacted with players in SAO in a long time. Needless to say, it wasn't all that great. I've found out that gamers will be gamers and will always swarm a female, especially now that we're trapped here. I met a few people and learned a thing or two. I found out that no one has seen my friend, but I also found out that you can still attack people in safezones but cannot hurt them. There was a guild named the Crimson Blades and quite a few players that I cannot name of, but there was an interesting offer that the blacksmith, Mack, gave me.

    Entry #2 (( [SP-F1] Fate of the Fallen | COMPLETE )):
My first time exiting Starting City had more downs than there was ups. First off, I was starting to appreciate Aincrad although it was a death game. I hope I did not develop slow-working Stockholm Syndrome. After that, I was getting fought with a boar until I made my way into the forest. In the forest, I had a battle with a wolf, but weakness overcame me. I saw a tree with a message carved into it. One I can never forget, one probably left by my friend. After finishing off the boar, I had a one-sided conversation with the tree (I must have looked really dumb) or more importantly Juhmer. I left the tree after leaving some offerings, but coming back to the safezone, I realized something. This is a new prison for me, but one I cannot escape.

    Entry #3 (( [PP-F1] Start of a Journey | COMPLETE )):
I wanted to kind of serve as a type of body guard for new players and a couple that seemed like they weren't viscous (especially with the way they spoke). Their names were Benoit and Saizou and were an interesting pair and I'll probably remember them by the fact that they called the boar "piggy" for most of the hunt. Even though they were nice people and that we had an easy hunt for boars, I couldn't bring myself to stay with them longer. The only things that I could think of was, what if they died, how would I know, and what would I end up doing. I had already lost one friend to the things of Aincrad. I was selfish for pulling myself away from them, but there is always the threat that one of us would end up dying anyways. I was more afraid to lose another friend than lose someone that I had just met.

    Entry #4 (( [OP-F3] Troubled Times | COMPLETE )):
I met a couple other players today on my first venture in Delilah Village of the third floor.

One of them was Macradon, a very strong person that is part of the front liners. My first one that I've met in person and an overall kind person. The second one is Itzal, a scout that is trying to catch up to people like Macradon's level (about halfway there I guess). Both of them feel somewhat devoted to helping lower leveled players as well. Then there is Mina and Rin. I don't know what's wrong with Mina, something happened and she scared Rin who was already somewhat troubled in the beginning. I tried to give them advice but before I knew it, Rin ran away and I chased after her but couldn't find her. Everyone dispersed as well after I tried to go back, where... Where did they go.

I... I don't know what to do. I didn't want to end like this. I don't know what to do. I don't know. I need to find them.

    Entry #5 (( [SP-F1] Capturing Sounds of the Quiet <<Earning a Living>> | COMPLETE )):
I found an NPC offering a job as a performer as long as I completed a certain quest. It was largely uneventful with me just trying to find inspiration to create music in many places, and often times failing. However, during my time traveling, I attempted to make peace with what I have done and what I have not done. In the end, I'm still grieving over the loss of my friend, confirmed by my visitng of the Monument of Life, but I'm ready to move forward in his name. I showed emotion for the first times since my broken childhood. Now, I'm opening up my new shop named Tahimik and will create songs for other players to listen to and hear.

    Entry #6 (( [OP-F4] The Rising Dawn (Guild Recruitment) | COMPLETE )):
I decided to join a guild. I have a feeling my friend never joined one, he never did seem proactive or even active in the first place. I thought it would be a good place to start. I met a couple people, mainly a girl named Eatos and another girl named Saphira, the former of which was the co-leader of my guild, the New Guardians of the Dawn. Currently, I'm just a fledgling member, but I hope I can help out the others, both in the guild and outside of it.

    Real name: Kaluluwa Nasira
    Age: 16
    Gender: Heterosexual Male
    Height: 5’7”
    Profession: N/A

    About: History/personality
Kaluluwa stood at the gates of his high school waiting for one of his friends, looking towards the sakura tree that loomed above him while listening to the music he is listening to. One of the old ones, for sure, but one that gives him a change of scenery. All he sees is a vast grassland, one that he couldn’t see the end of, except it was different this time. Usually everything would be gone, everything should’ve been wiped out, but it wasn’t. The sakura tree stayed in his vision until he heard his friend call out to him, taking out his earbuds and then continuing walking side by side.

Kaluluwa wasn’t Japanese. In fact, he sometimes wasn'’t even considered Asian. He was usually considered as a Pacific Islander, a Filipino. He was considerably darker than most people that was at his high school, and even had a Filipino accent that would resurface on occasion. The reason why he was in Japan instead of his home country is a long story, one that he remembers very clearly and vividly. His memories either rushes to him at once, or is painstakingly long letting him process each thought. The memories always shifts about, some getting clearer while others got blurry but they always comes back without fail:

Kaluluwa was by no means a manly man or the perfect person. He knew there was no such thing early to begin with. His earliest memory was of his father drinking beer after a long day in the rice farms and his mother already sleeping. His stomach continued to hurt and he started to complain to his father, asking why they didn’t have food. The response echoed throughout the wooden shack, “I need to sell the rice that we grow to sustain myself so we can grow more rice.” Kaluluwa was too young to realize that this was just an excuse.

In reality however, his father used it to bet on rooster fights that he’d have on the rice farm and just to buy alcohol for Kaluluwa’s mother and himself. Whenever Kaluluwa had the time to, he’d ask his friends from school who were raised on some banana plantations to teach him how to climb a tree. The bananas he’d get from these trees eventually became one of the only foods he’d eat. In fact, after his parents had caught him with them, it became their food. Once every few months, he had to learn how to get a new food: pili nuts near the volcano they lived, the rice from the farm he had started to participate in, and the pompano and bangos he’d catch just so he could keep food to himself once in a while. It had become a routine for himself and eventually became second nature.

Sometime within his lifetime, however, his parents had gotten into an argument. The reason why was simple, Kaluluwa had the opportunity to go to Japan for education. The “special student that was elected.” He knew by that time his parents were abusive compared to others, but kept it to himself. The response that had become the status quo for “what do your parents do” or “can I come over to your house” was that his parents were sleeping. It was normal for them to be hungover. However, it didn’t appear to be that case for his mother this time. His mother seemed to be sober, or as sober as she’d ever be, and argued with his father that Kaluluwa could become better than the two of them, that he would have a better life. However, the only argument that could be given by his father was, “Then we’d have no more food and no more alcohol”, as if those two material objects were the most important things in the world.

The bell rung, waking himself up from his memories without letting him finish the scene where he’d end up running away from his parents while they were arguing about his fate. He knew he needed to slip away but he didn’t want to say “goodbye” as he was afraid they might make him stay. The Philippines was a place where the truth was valued being mostly Catholic, so all he needed to say was that his parents had agreed. He was then off to Japan the next day, at the age of 10, where everything was already prepared for him and where he’d spend the rest of his life if he chose so.

The rest of the day blurred by, his schoolwork and his homework were just things that kept him busy. And then there was the object that was sitting in the back of the room. Every month or so, he'd send part of his money that he'd receive from the exchange program to one of his friends in the Philippines to buy Kaluluwa's parents food. However, the other part he was able to spare was kept to buy himself something special. He looked to the object in the back of his room, the present from last year. A guitar that he'd been playing almost non-stop during his free time.

This year, it was going to be what his friends had all talked about. A "virtual reality" game called Sword Art Online. They said it was going to be released today and the leaked cost was confirmed just a few weeks ago with it being just within his range. He quickly sent off the money to his parents and sighed, wondering why he still supports them after what they had put him through.Just one of those things, I guess. They'd probably be starving without this. He put on a shirt and hurried up to the store to grab the game, SAO for short, and the NerveGear... Let's see if it's as awesome as people make it out to be...

    Virtues:
Wise: Kaluluwa has spent many hours debating on why he was alive and why he continued to exist in this world. He spent time wondering why human nature was cruel, and why God, if there was even an entity that watched over him, let it happen without consequence. After many hours of meticulous thinking, he decided two things: pain is a way life prepares you for what is to come and that you cannot stop it from happening.

Compassionate: Along the way of his life, he has helped out others. After hearing the stories that they had to share, he was surprised that they had somewhat similar stories, although none had the same severity as his own. He realized that the world wasn’t just full of his problems, so he decided to help out as many others as he can.

Aesthete: Kaluluwa is always listening to music that speaks to him which was usually alternative rock because it spoke for him. Music has helped him get through his entire life and even bought a guitar a year before the "SAO incident" occurred. Music will probably be the one of the few centers of himself that he can find in SAO.

    Flaws:
Finifugal: He believes that there shouldn’t be any reason for an ending. Whether it be a relationship with someone, a story, or a journey, he dislikes the ending (only if the experience was good). He will usually try to prolong the event, just so that he can savor the moment longer.

Damaged: Due to the terrible upbringings that he has had, Kaluluwa experienced things most people that he has met could never imagine happening to themselves. His parents' eyes showed absolutely no emotion towards anyone or anything, and, despite his best wishes, followed suit. Whenever he looks in the mirror, the only thing looking back at him are eyes full of solemnity and a husk of a being devoid of emotion. Despite his appearance, the only thing racing through his mind are emotions aplenty supplying the same question, "Why am I like this?"

Ghosts of his past: His past is hard for him to forget. It is no uncommon for him to have a dream about his past or have a quick flashback of multiple memories (sometimes in succession). He cannot stop this from happening because he does not knows why, how, or when they will happen. However, he prefers neither receiving the dream or the flashbacks for the dream is too long, as to let him remember it vividly, and the flashbacks let are to quick making him feel every emotion that he had in his memories come back at once.

    Quirks:
Filipino Accent: Although not completely obvious, he has a sort of accent where some parts of the word is more emphasized than they are supposed to be. Also, he commonly mistakes the letters "f" with "p", "ih" with "ee", and "t" with "d" (in Roman letterings for clarity).

  15. This has been asked before. The gist of what Mari (while she was staff) was that if they jumped in last minute, they receive nothing. For how many pages they participated in, that's their reward and if they do participate in a full page, then they also get an SP.

So basically, for what they've done, that's what they get. Also, it is up to the thread starter to set the requirements of what is needed to get the rewards. The thread starter could say they need to actively post or else they can lose rewards or they'll just get skipped (just don't go crazy with the rule) like how it is done in boss raids (24 hour period in boss raids so at least give them that much time).

  16. As two to four of you know (or I at least hope you do), I'm not new here. Nor do I plan to leave any time soon. I have had two prior characters to this one. One character is officially dead (but has not been moved to the dead section) and the other one is dead due to inactivity and basically is considered dead to me.

Pushing that aside, I'd like to say a few things about myself. I am absolutely not what I'm truly like with my prior characters. For one, I'm no where close to how they are or how they look like, which is fine by me. I'm fairly dark compared to most Americans and have a partial English impediment due to being brought up by non-native English speakers. Weird thing is, is that what I mostly know is English. I am a jack of all trades in terms of science, medical, technological, etc. I'm in an awkward point of my life where I need to find out what I want to do when I grow up and quick, but my head and my passion is a bit off-ways from each other. I know some sub-languages of LUA, MS-DOS (Batch files), and a few commands of python (but in reality I know all of them because all languages are similar).

I have also been having troubles in terms with daily life and trying to get myself in this as well. On the weekends, I basically volunteer at a local hospital and play the guitar for patients for 4 hours straight. On the weekdays, most of my time is spent doing homework (as I'm a student).

As per the rules of this subforum, I decided to not fully show my character but if you wish to see it, here it is:

Anyways, my new character is meant to hit at home and be somewhat personal to me. A general overview of my character without revealing too much backstory (not knowing is the best part of interacting with others):

    1. He grew up in a different country than Japan, much like I was born in a different continent than the one I'm currently living in.

    2. Complications in his childhood lead him to basically show no expressions no matter the intensity (military families).

    3. The username literally means "Creation" while the real name means "Damaged Soul." These words are from my hereditary language (not my native language) and also from the country my character is from (props to those who can tell what language these are).

    4. He doesn't like endings, loves music, and has a sort of wisdom/philosophical side to him that goes with his solemnity (my different overarching moods.

    5. He's around half a foot taller than I am in real life (I'm REALLY short)...

If you actually took the time to read all of this, THANK YOU. Except, one problem. I am not a drawer, painter, or anything with visual arts. The only way I can push out my character and once again become a full-fledged member of the community is with a faceclaim. Being my character being extremely unique, I have not yet found an anime character or any kind of drawing that symbolizes his true nature. I wanted to ask you, the reader, to PM me if possible and help me draw it (in other words, you draw it and I'll give you the basic ideas of what I prefer). If you don't want to, I completely understand. "One is not finished when they are defeated. They are defeated when they quit."

    RIP Axios Deminence; Begone Prostatis.
