  1. "She's in the village nearby." Sara said simply. Hunie wondered if she was from a different floor, because the blonde didn't know about any other settlements except the Town of Beginnings, which most definitely was not a village. The duo had moved on from rabbit land and was in fact looping around and heading back to the tree under which Hunie had found Sara. Upon nearing the tree, Hunie noticed something green behind it. At first sight it just looked like a patch of grass, but upon closer inspection she noticed it was a ball of wool. She rushed to it, picked it up and gave it to Sara. "Here you go! It was here all along." Hunie said. "I see something there for you too, look again" Sara prompted. Hunie noticed, in the very same place that she had found her first mat, there now sat another. Hunie was quick to harvest it, hoping three mats would be enough to finish her Earning a Living quest. "Thank you for helping me Hunie, I'll be on my way now." With that Sara ran away, so fast it was unreal... and reminded Hunie, they were in fact in a virtual game.

    +1 Mat

  2. Lucky for Sara, they had reached some sort of a rabbit spawn location. There were a lot of rabbits hopping about here. Unfortunately, no sign of the green wool ball, or any more mats. Sara carefully picked up a bunny herself this time. Hunie kept a close eye on the child NPC, while keeping a look out for what she needed. It looked like Sara had forgotten about the green ball thanks to all the rabbits. "Why Hunie no play with bunny?" Sara asked, thrusting the rabbit she had just picked up into Sophie's hands. Hunie, laughed nervously, she really didn't know what else to do, except pet the thing to amuse the girl. "So Sara, where is your mommy?" Hunie asked, wondering if the actual quest was to return the NPC to her family.

  3. The bunny jumped into Hunie's hands. She heard Sara squeal in joy. "Can we please please take him with us while we look for things?" Sara said. Hunie considered this. She would be a little distracted looking after a rabbit, she did have things to collect... But she couldn't say no to such a small girl, after all, very rarely did anyone say no to her when she was that age... "Ok, but only if you hold onto him." Hunie said to the girl. Gently she handed it over to the younger one. Sara however squealed again and dropped the rabbit with a gentle thud, back in the grass. The rabbit was quick to hop away at lightening speed. Sara whined. "But his whiskers tickled my cheek, can you please find me another rabbit." Hunie didn't think she'd ever be annoyed. But she almost instantly realised how difficult it could be to raise a child. She sighed. "Ok, ok I will...

Just moments ago, where the rabbit had been, something else seemed to have spawned. Something that looked very similar to what she had found under the tree. She reached out and took it quickly.

  4. "Can I ask you what your name is?" Sara asked sweetly.
    "I'm Hunie." The blonde responded.
"Oh, honey is tasty." Sara spoke absentmindedly, crouching occasionally in the tall grass to hunt for her lucky ball of wool.
"Yes, just like honey, but it is spelled H-U-N-I-E" The green eyed girl confirmed.

Now apart from these rare mats, she also had a small responsibility of looking for a green ball of wool. Maybe Sara could help her with the materials as well... But Hunie didn't know how to describe the materials well enough for Sara to really have something to look for. Sara and Hunie went about their way trying to look for what they needed.

"Oh look, a little bunny." Sara said, pointing to a fluffy white rabbit. Hunie stealthily walked towards the creature, hoping not to scare it. But the creature was much braver than it would have been in real life. It stood there and even let Sara and Hunie pet it.

  5. The girl watched Hunie carefully. The blonde in turn smiled at her. The young girl must be no older than nine. She had green eyes like Sophie, but dark hair. The small girl looked like a younger version of her mother. Sophie tried to imagine her mother at that tender age, it seemed rather bizarre. "What's your name?" Hunie kneeled and asked. "I'm Sara" the girl responded. "I lost my lucky ball of wool... Can you help me find it?" The girl said. Hunie looked at her carefully, it made the blonde happy to know that at least this youngling, wasn't an actual player. Maybe this was a quest of sorts, or maybe she'd just gain another NPC friend. "Sure, I will" Hunie responded. "What color was it?" she inquired.

"It was the same color as the grass, that's why I can't see it, I think it rolled away somewhere..." Sara said, with tears welling up in her eyes. It was astonishing how these NPCs could reveal such real looking emotions. "Don't worry, we'll find it, I'm looking for something too, we can hunt together." Hunie assured the little girl.

  6. She skipped around the grasslands, hoping for some good company. She just wished she didn't run into anyone malicious. With her misfortune with the mats, all she wanted was to finish this quest some how. She noticed a butterfly flutter by and the sun was high in the sky. There was almost no tinge of blue, the light from the sun was so bright, the sky was all white. Sophie squinted up at it, her pupils contracted suddenly. When she looked back at the grasslands, everything seemed much darker, once again her eyes took a second to readjust. She noticed a small girl standing there in the shade of a tree, looking rather distraught. Hunie cautiously approached the young girl. Still keeping a careful eye out for anything that might be something she could use to craft. On cue, she noticed something at the base of the tree. Sophie carefully reached for it and took it.

  7. Sophie got up once again. This wasn't working. Instead she decided to try and push away any thoughts about the mat and just try to enjoy the solitude and the wind whispering through the long blades of the bright green grass. Hell, she could run if she wanted. She chose another tree in the far distance and decided to race against time to get there. She chose to shrug off her worries, all the memories, good and bad and just try to exist in the moment. The view was repetitive though, if she didn't fear for a life just a little bit, she would have chosen to explore the higher floors, some of which had already been cleared out by the ones who people referred to as 'try harders' Hunie considered them to be brave, she was still stuck at level 1... Not if she finished the Earning a Living thread though, then she would be level three...

Wow, that definitely did not give her much. She sighed and leaned against the bark, which scraped against her back far more gently than it would have, had it been a real tree. She closed her eyes and took deep breaths. At least the air didn't seem to be riddled with pollution. She practiced what one of her therapists had taught her. "When feeling upset by a circumstance you cannot control, try looking for small moments that you can be gracious for..." The woman had said, to a nine year old Sophie sitting apprehensively. To be honest. Sophie never mastered that. Things bogged her down easy unless Raun or her parents were around to help lift her up. Things got worse, especially if she dwelled on the matter for too long. Like today, with the mats, the more she wished to find them, the more evasive they seemed to be. Its almost like Lila had sent her on mission impossible.

  9. Now Hunie considered herself to not be a spoiled girl, but in reality she had been. Despite her disability, she was always showered with the best of everything. Food wasn't even something she needed to give a second thought too, there was no question that the most scrumptious food would be laid out for the Hunter family. For all their meals, the chef would prepare healthy and tasty food. I'm going to need to buy some real food... and for that I'm going to need to earn some real money. But how. Hunie felt a little helpless and craved the company of someone, someone who would help her, tell her how to go about finding these materials. She thought maybe reading the player guide would help... Once again she swiped open her inventory, eyeing the bread and water with some dislike and chose her player guide.

  10. Still nothing, this was beginning to feel like a drag. She wouldn't quit, but she could use a break, she spotted a tree in the distance and just for a chance to lean against is bark, she walked briskly towards it. She didn't think the shade would make much of a difference, but the cool shadow of the tree provided its own soft comfort. I could curl up here and sleep, to hell with that Lila woman, so what if I take my own sweet time to prove my worth. Hunie decided to browse her inventory. She found some bread and water in it and her eyes widened in shock. This was like an insult... It would've been better if they'd given nothing.

  11. She hoped that this earning a living thread would help out at least a little bit. She needed money to get herself better gear, so she could actually get into a combat. She looked down at the basic clothing she currently had. Thanks to this, she recalled that she hadn't even equipped her basic sword yet. Making that her priority, she opened her inventory and checked for her sword. Hunie quickly dragged it out and wore it at her hip. At least that makes me a feel a little bit more like a warrior. Despite everything, this game had a certain allure to it, a certain mystery, a certain calling. It also generated a decent degree of comfort, while you could feel everything, nothing ever assaulted your senses, not the pain, not the glare of the sun and not the bite of the cold. It was like a new reality. This didn't have to be too bad. As long as I can live through it and help people... maybe.

  12. Sophie wasn't the kind who would give up easy. She kept her eyes peeled for materials. Far in the distance she noticed other players too, walking around, presumably trying to find materials like her. But after what had taken place the last time she got out of Town of Beginnings, she wasn't going to risk walking up to any other players. If you're orange you're a risk, but it just takes one swipe of the blade to turn a green into orange too, She thought. Hunie wondered if, under any circumstance she would become a player killer. Once again she thought the the system needed some sort of law and order now. If she saw someone committing a simple crime, killing them should not be her only option... She wondered if there was already a system like this in place, but she didn't know about it.

  13. Hunie had no idea what these materials looked like, or if there was an easier way to get them. She couldn't even trade real life money for Cols here, so she could buy unlimited materials... Glumly she walked around, trying to avoid the sight of the tree where the murders had occurred. Her thoughts flitted to her brother once again. What would he do if he was in the game? She assumed he would firstly stop her from playing, that's what he always did... To keep her safe. Though she resented him, Sophia never had a chance to retaliate or ask for her freedom, she just couldn't have it. Now Hunie had freedom, but it came at a heavy cost of loneliness. Why can't I have the best of both worlds? She whined in her head. She admitted to herself that she did wish Raun was around, despite their disagreements, he did always try to make the best of the situation for her. She kept a look out for any out of place looking thing. She needed these materials to prove to her NPC teacher that she was good enough.

Still nothing. The place silent and a gust of wind swept through the blades of grass.

  14. "Well, right now you have no materials for me to take and teach you. No mats, no teaching. Go acquire a few of those and return to me, lets see if a pretty girl like you, is even a small patch on a beauty like me" The NPC added. "I'm Lila. The best Artisan you will ever have the honor of speaking to."
Hunie fought the urge to laugh. This NPC was going to compete with her. Did she really strike insecurity in this NPC? Well looked like she was in too deep already.

She thought it was best to let actions speak instead of words. Without saying anything she turned on her heel, accepted objective too and reluctantly made her way to the outer rims of the Town of Beginnings. The last time she had been here... She forced her mind away from the thought and started searching for these materials. So far she noticed nothing out of the ordinary.

  15. Hunie wasn't really going to work very hard with this profession that she had in mind. All she wanted was to finally start some actual quest in the game and this one seemed ideal. It was safe, for the most part, unless she aggravated a group of MOBs. The benefits of being an artisan, though meagre, could be decently helpful. She didn't want to do something too extravagant, her recent encounter with some stalkers who either did, or pretended to know her in real life, had made her a little weary.

She had accepted the quest and looked down at the objectives.

    1. Find an artisan, either NPC or another player, to learn to tools of the trade.

That shouldn't be too tough, at least for me. She thought. She roamed around the town of beginnings, having explored it before. She knew artisans were rarer than other professionals, but Hunie had come across a few shops. All she had to do was recall where exactly...

After a couple of minutes of searching she found a quaint looking shop and entered it. A beautiful blonde sat in a chair behind the counter. Hunie's eyes widened, her sea green ones stared into the bright blue ones of the NPC. "So you want to be an Artisan, girl?" the NPC spoke, her voice laced with condescension. Hunie sensed some friction. The younger blonde wondered if she should try another shop.

  16. Paranoia was not uncommon anymore. Especially for Sophie. It had been about a few weeks at best and she'd already personally witnessed three deaths. The blonde didn't really intend on being another victim to add to the list. Out of everyone, she could sympathise the most with the guy she had tripped over. She felt the worst about dragging him into her mess.  He had been an unwilling victim, the others had volunteered, no doubt thanks to their decoration, but he could potentially have a lot to lose. Despite all this he stood his ground. Hunie was surprised at his willingness to help. Though it hopefully wouldn't come to any duals or battles, she was happy that even a lower level player like herself, was going to stand by her side. Already, she had people who were not going to treat her just like another statistic in the game, but like a real person. After the heart-wrenching deaths she'd witnessed just outside the Town of Beginnings, such generosity from other players, was a welcome change.

"I am Macradon, Lieutenant of the Blades, Council member of the Knights of Blood Oath" She nodded at the Knight and thanked him for his offer to be her body guard. She decided it was good to have him on her side, he looked like a formidable ally.  Along with the formalities, she added "That is an impressive title..." she genuinely appreciated his help, but she wasn't all glassy eyed over his rank, she wasn't really impressed very easily thanks to her gaming experience in the past. The blonde let him know that she could definitely use his help for the day, if he had the time to spare. "But I'd rather have you as a friend, bodyguard is a very cold title and demeans the one you currently possess." She eyed his armor and the symbol it bore with pride. It couldn't hurt to get a little more information about this guild. "Could you tell me a little more about Knights of Blood Oath, what does one have to do to join?" She asked.

The blue haired guy had vanished somewhere deeper in the alley. The one she had fallen over in her haste, had introduced himself as Husky, the normal guy.  A peal of laughter escaped her lips at that. On a more serious note, she said to him. "You're not just normal, you are very brave for helping me out, despite the potential risk it could pose. I mean, they can't kill us here, but if they are seriously after me, they might harm my allies by tracking them down..." She added, letting him know the dangerous possibilities of what could happen. She wondered if she should tell them more about what this could be... She had some theories in mind, but was it safe? This could all be one large ploy...

  17. Hunie's first trip out of town, had been rather eventful. She hadn't even ventured out too far, but even testing the waters had been rather punishing. Though back then, she was determined she would do everything she can from now on, to try beat this game, today she was having second thoughts. In solidarity, she had decided to go make a presence at the funeral of the three players, as they would have been given in real life. Upon witnessing the funeral gathering depression set in her heart and she wondered if all of them, every single player, should just sit this out and wait for someone outside the game to take action and rescue them. No one had to take the risk and everyone could stay in a place where no one can hurt one another and no stupid accumulation of mobs can either. But she knew it'd be useless to try and convince those who were already way ahead in this thing. Other lives had been sacrificed, for the seeming greater good and who knew how long it would take to find the game master in real life. Maybe there was no other way except to beat this thing.

It was very apparent that the game maker wanted them to all play the game and take it very seriously, Hunie could bet that if they all actually stayed in the town of beginnings, he'd reprogram the game to make sure this wasn't a safe zone anymore either... She shuddered and reconsidered the option of giving this game everything she had. She hadn't really missed her family for a while now, today she did. She just wished she had someone she knew to, hold, someone to tell her everything was going to be fine. They pyres meant nothing actually, the players were already pixels, lost for ever in cyber space, their bodies sitting somewhere, surrounded by loved ones... She imagined the real funeral in contrast to this one... Morbid.

She spotted the boy who had asked her to run on that fateful day, he was standing in front of the fires, similarly pensive. In a way he had reminded her that her life mattered more than she realised. Someone had cared enough to tell her to get back to safety while she stood their frozen. She carefully made her way through the crowd to that boy, placed a hand on his shoulder and tapped it gently. "Hey... I didn't get to thank you that day... I don't know if you remember you'd ask me to flee to safety before things got worse, I was in a little bit of a trance so thank you for helping me..." she smiled weakly and looked up at him with her bright sea green eyes. The color of his hair was similar to Raun's, his eyes were not violet however, but a deep blue. Still there was enough resemblance to make her miss her brother. "I don't know if you remember, I'd introduced myself as Hunie, and you would be?

  18. Hunie had noticed a person getting a little alarmed upon being pointed at. She quickly shook her head and smiled at him. He looked familiar, but she couldn't make out, he was a little far and her vision was a little blurry and out of focus thanks to the adrenaline. She angled her finger more specifically towards the alley this time. Upon revealing the most irksome detail, Hunie didn't quite get the reaction she had hoped for. The blonde witnessed the reactions she had feared. Everyone was worried, this was not a good sign. She was glad for the help the young man she'd tumbled over had offered, he naturally didn't have a good feeling about this. The one in the red and white armor laid out the possibilities in front of her and she nodded earnestly, to let him know he understood what she was explaining perfectly. While the blue haired man had decided to follow her general direction towards that alley.

"No, don't go there alone." She called out after him. Wondering if she may become the reason that someone else gets into trouble. The armored fellows looked like the could handle themselves, but Hunie didn't know what she had set them up against. "Let go with him at least." She beseeched to the guy she'd tripped over and the one in the fancy garments. Although the girl had tried offering some comic relief, she definitely did not want to get a poor innocent girl into this mess. "If it doesn't go well and you feel like we are out numbered or something, just leave me with them... It very clearly is me that they are after. And I think I might know what this is about..." She said with a slight quiver in her voice. She pulled her blonde hair out of her eyes and slowly started following the blue-haired man towards the alley, sincerely wishing, that either it was just a low level guy, maybe two that they could take on with ease, or that the stupid men had fled. She really didn't want an unequal confrontation, especially with strangers aiding her cause.

"Oh by the way, I never caught your names..." She added politely, if they were going to help her, at least they shouldn't remain strangers.  "And once again, I'm so sorry for having ruined a perfectly normal day.

  19. "Uh, I'm quite all right, Thank you. And sorry again." Hunie said. Holding her own hands in front of her to stop them from shaking and added a nervous chuckle. Sophie didn't know if she should tell anyone about the men in the alley. She had just about gained the normal status, she didn't want people to start thinking she was insane. She was still debating divulging the details of what just happened when a blue haired, yes blue haired man walked towards them. For a moment she was awestruck and her gaze was fixated on his hair. Upon realizing it was impolite to stare, she quickly stared at the ground. Apart from his hair, her sight flitted to his armor and weapon, they were of much better quality than what she possessed. This was rare too, all through her life, Sophie had always had the best things and never did she have to work for them, but she knew games worked differently, in a sense this was good, there was a kind of equality at SAO

"What's going on here?  Is everything okay?" The blue-haired man said. "As I was just telling thi-" Before she had the chance to finish a younger girl popped in with a joke. Do I look like I want to hear a joke right now? Hunie thought the herself as she looked around. The girl introduced herself as Ranmura and then went onto say something silly about love. It was sweet of this girl to try and diffuse the tension. Now prompted to introduce herself after Ranmura's funny introduction, Sophie began once again, only to be interrupted by a clanking sound. Someone garbed in heavy armor was making their way towards them.

At first Hunie briefly panicked. That's two armored men, was she in trouble for creating this commotion. She looked around, she had definitely gathered a lot of attention. She was only used to being stared at because she was in a wheel chair. Occasionally she would do risky things to get the attention of her family, but that was deliberate, this was new. "Greetings, anything going on that might concern anyone?" the red armored man said. Well at least there were a decent number of people concerned about her. This made her feel safer for sure, even though they were strangers.

"Umm... I'm sorry for the commotion, I'm Hunie. I encountered an unfriendly bunch in an alley back there."  She pointed to the direction she had come running from.  "I was a little... shocked." She chose her words carefully not wanting to reveal the fear that had taken her over. "I thought they'd follow me so I ran for it."

She addressed the men with the better gear now, she hoped if push came to shove they'd be able to help her. "They knew my real name, so I'm worried its personal, I just hope I'm not in any danger." She had finally divulged the one piece of information that had creeped her out the most. She smiled apologetically at everyone around her. Playing damsel in distress was really not what she had in mind, but the incident had creeped her out good and proper.

  20. The blond stretched on the bed in the rented motel. She crept into the bathroom and fixed her hair and batted her eyelids at the reflection. Another day of exploration awaited. It had been a decent while since she had logged in and found out that she was stuck here. Sophie hadn't even hadn't even started playing the game yet. All she wanted to do was walk. Walk here, walk there, walk every where. No one would stare at her piteously anymore, because she wasn't being strolled around by her grumpy maid anymore. Back in real life, Sophie didn't even care for all the thinly veiled glances of sympathy she had to endure, because going out itself was so rare. She would have to plead with her parents to let her maid take her out while she ran errands. When Raun was on a break from school, he'd take her out sometimes... But she had felt like a dog being taken for a walk... Such dependancy. But not anymore, now she was free.

So she spent majority of her time, walking the length of the Town of Beginnings, getting into alleyways and shops, making small talk with the NPCs and occasionally other characters. She didn't want to spend time reading the player guide, she wanted to experience the game as she would experience life. Life didn't come with a guide... One late evening, while she was walking back to her motel, she had found a man leaning on a lampost, eyeing her with a very strange expression. It was one of greed, of hunger... It had made her horribly uncomfortable and she'd made a run for it. As the days passed, this happened a few times, till Sophie made a rule to always walk during later evenings with a crowd.

Today however, in the middle of the day, she had managed to find herself in am almost deserted alley. And not one, but two men leaned agains the wall in the shadows at the very end. "You're Sophie, right?" Hunie froze. How did they know her real name? This was someone from her town? The voice sounded gruff and mostly dangerous. "Oh, we're so glad to finally meet you..." He said, sinisterly.

It was the middle of the day... This was crazy. Her heart pounded and her eyes widened, without looking back she dashed for it, back into the main part of town, in fact she ran straight to the over crowded plaza. While she sprinted, Sophie kept glancing back to check if anyone was following her. During one such glance, she failed to notice the person right in front of her and dashed right into them. She tripped and held onto the player to keep balance, panting she gathered her wits and apologised "I'm so sorry!

    » Age: 17
    » Gender: Female
    » Height: 5' 4"

» About: The disabled one. The one who brought shame to her wealthy family. Sophie was the shadow in the house of light. The one who couldn't walk, the one who wasn't normal. The curse on the Hunter family. Everything about her looked normal, she just couldn't feel her feet, or move them. Her life had been one long wheel chair ride.

She had her father's blonde hair and her mother's fair skin. Her eyes were the color of the sea. Her brother sported dark hair and violet eyes, they didn't look alike, but they felt very strongly for each other. Sophie's parents and her brother Raun had successfully managed to brew some vanity in the young girl, but she knew her beauty was of no use. What was the point, if she couldn't even stand... Her family tried hard to never let her feel like she was any lesser than anyone else and she pretended to be happy. But she sensed they were probably embarrassed of her, when they chose to homeschool her. "You'll be better off at home, honey. The other children will never understand how special you are!" Her father had said. She wasn't really upset about it, she had heard from Raun how children ridiculed anyone for being different, having never dealt with such things, she doubted that she would take it well.

So began a journey of tutor after tutor, while she would throw desperate glances at her brother to get her out of this mess. She enjoyed learning, it was the only thing that made her feel normal, but long hours of being stuck in the house wore her out. Often Raun would personally teach her a thing or two and those were always the best lessons. She was a compassionate girl and often wondered what would be her state had she not been lucky enough to be born in the Hunter family. She was sure, there must be other like her, in poorer families, with lesser privilege and opportunity...

Till she was about Thirteen, things weren't as bad, she continued to live on in her little bubble. Occasionally they would go for family trips to their farmhouses and there would be a change in scene, but other than that life was dull, but manageable.

Once Raun turned eighteen, his life changed and so did hers.
He grew busier and busier, her parents often went to big dinners with the faculty of several well known colleges, perhaps to ensure a bright future for their precious first child. Insecurity crept up in Sophie and tightened its claws on her naive heart. She was still young and impulsive and had entered the phase of rebellion. She showed less and less interest in family affairs and grew more and more self-obssesed. She dived head long into books, movies and anime.

Raun had introduced her to a few games, after which she grew into an avid gamer. As a consolatory thing, her parents transformed a large chunk of the basement into a gaming zone for her. Raun would play with her occasionally, but she usually bested him and had resorted to calling him a useless gamer, he laughed it off and didn't ever sense the acidic note in Sophie's tone.

Swort Art Online was meant to be Sophie's escape from reality, little had she known she would indeed escape any reality for much longer than she had expected. Her avatar had pink hair and she had sported violet eyes like her brother. She didn't want anyone to recognise her of course, they were a well known family and despite not going to school, almost every kid in the small town knew her face. She had chosen the display name Hunie,  a mix of her name and a play off of what her parents usually called her...

    Link start.

And she could walk. She raced around the grasslands and marvelled at the NerveGear for making this action so innate and intuitive for her. And then she was transported back to the Town of Beginnings...

Alas, all the time she spent making that avatar was useless. She saw her face in the mirror and smiled a little. She had expected to feel more regret about being trapped in this game, but she did not. Nor did she feel much fear... This was going to be her very own playground, her personal adventure... She was going to be a new Sophie here.

    » Virtues:

Intelligent: Having spent hours and hours honing her knowledge in various things, just to kill time, Sophie is rather smart and knowledgable. Her database includes a large collection of movies and novels, from different parts of the world and so, Sophie is lucky to be multilingual. Her brother, who spent a large sum of time playfully testing her, helped sharpen her problem solving skills. They loved a good old battle of wits.

Compassionate: Having suffered a decent bit in her life, Sophie is very attuned to the way people feel and act. She can sense discomfort from a mile away and would want to help ease it, just the way most people helped ease hers. She understands what it feels like to be at a disadvantage and wouldn't want anyone else to feel that way.

Perceptive: Sophie can see small gestures that most others would miss. This is because everytime she interacted with people, she was very observant. It was a rarity to meet someone for long. She is also very conscious of her own behaviour, since she doesn't want to be the cause of trouble, upon introspection she knew, for example when her smile was genuine and when it wasn't and learned to detect this in others, learning to read their intentions and true feelings.

Trustworthy: Sophie didn't ever need to keep big secrets, but she kept the small ones well. Being something of a shadow in the house, Sophie learned things, like how the maid kept the change sometimes. How her father stole cookies from her cookie jar, despite being told to monitor his sugar. Raun coming back from school early, skipping classes to play with her. No one had to ask her to keep quiet, she just knew when to say what and when not to.

    » Flaws:

Vane: This flaw was more like a curse dropped in her lap. She was always told she was beautiful, and one day she started paying a little attention to their praise. Sophie decided to put in more and more effort into keeping herself pretty. She believed at least then the Hunter family would have something to show off... Though she prides herself in her own beauty, she does not ever let anyone else feel bad about their looks and has always tried to encourage a sort of vanity in others too.

Insecure: Despite it being at odds with her vanity, Sophie is insecure. This is borne out of her being crippled. No matter how much she tries, she knows she isn't normal and she always feels embarrassed about it. She never felt good enough and occasionally this turns into resentment towards the normal people around her. Occasionally she feels like vanishing, just not existing and being all by herself.

Ungrateful: Sophie is compassionate and often dwells upon the thoughts off the suffering of less privilaged people. However, she feels deprived in such natural way that no amount of time and money spent on her ever made her feel truly grateful. She always felt like she was missing a large fraction of who she was and who she could have been. There is a small part of her that is really angry with the unfairness of life and stops her from seeing all the ways in which she is luckier than so many other people.

Risk-taker: When she was younger, she'd roll to the edge of the staircase with her wheelchair and just teeter there, till a worried Raun would run and pull her back. Her will to take risks, stems from two things, the first is the feeling of 'nothing much to lose' and the second is her leaning towards attention seeking behaviour. Sophie likes a reminder of the fact that she is in fact loved and that people do care for her...
