  1. Samriel couldn't help but smirking just a little at the reaction she had gotten out of the man, but averted her eyes as he tried to save face by pulling up his scarf. She really shouldn't tease people so. Even if it was so easy. At least he knew where her eyes were and his didn't wander. A nice change, or perhaps he simply had a great amount of willpower. Awaiting his response patiently, the blonde met his handshake with equal firmness, meeting his eyes with a smile as he introduced himself back. "Nice ta meetcha Kranzer, albeit under odd circumstances." Her head tilted as she listened to his explanation of what he needed help with. Her smile grew as she realized that it was in fact something that she could help with.

"Welp, you're in luck! I know just what to do...though I don't have a profession myself. I've helped a few people out before though and um, I used to have a friend that was a merchant." The blonde's expression dimmed only slightly with clenched jaw before she continued hurriedly, "You just need to find an NPC merchant's shop and go and speak to them. They'll be able to further your quest and tell you what to do next." Glancing around the area to figure out their location, Sam then nodded, "I think....yeah. C'mon, this way." She gestured for the long haired man to follow her as she began leading them through the winding streets and roads of the first floor's capitol.

  2. As Mack shot down both her and Magda's cheer about getting her some more skill points, Samriel frowned, glancing at the statuesque woman in confusion. "Both of us?" It was hard to imagine the muscular red head needing to do much leveling. Since she had heard that the blacksmith was a frontliner, she assumed the same of his twin. She knew that they were going on a fairly low levelled quest, but had simply assumed that it was because the two had quickly moved on to bigger better quests and skipped it, or were simply humoring her because of her own level.

But her focus quickly switched from the woman's level to what said woman was wearing. As she changed her equips, Samriel blinked against the light as the items began to appear on her avatar before finally revealing them. She looked spectacular and the color scheme was much the same as her brothers. Maybe it was a twin thing. But her wide eyes immediately snapped onto the tower shield. "Whoa, that thing means serious business! Are you sure that isn't a weapon? Jeez...nothing'll be able to get by you." She had been standing stock still admiring Magda's equips but then came to her senses when said equips began moving away and the blonde followed the siblings as Mack lead them out of Urbus' safe zone. Sam glanced down to reassure herself that she was in fact wearing her new armor and was thus protected, deciding to keep her hammer in her hand than at her side for now. She didn't have any doubts that she would be well looked after with the two redheads, but it didn't hurt to be prepared from what she had learned.

Glancing forward at Mack, her eyebrows raised at the mention of another sister and she blurted out, "How many sisters do you have dude?" She was slipping into her tomboy ways. It was too easy when in a party like this rather than one on one. Her focus shifted off of her language and onto what the blacksmith had suggested. "Knights of the Blood Oath huh?" That explained the matching armor then. Another guild... Sam was quiet after Magda's concurrence that it was a good idea, as she thought. Was she ready to join another guild? Did she want to be? Surreptitiously glancing at the redheads, the blonde knew that she could easily see herself continuing like this. But who knew how big their guild was. She counted three other unfamiliar names and there could be more. And Mack fought on the front lines. "I dunno if I'd really be cut out for it. Don't you guys fight on the frontlines? I mean, you know my level Mack..." She had told him back at his shop.

Glancing up towards the path that the blacksmith was leading them as he told them where the mini boss was and how far away, Sam pulled a face before attempting to school it into a more neutral expression when her Shield Sister said that it would be easy. She supposed she had walked and biked farther before...she was just feeling lazy since it was so early. She'd take it easy the rest of the day. Maybe treat herself. But that idea was soon dashed when Mack voiced his plans. Eyebrows shooting up to her hairline, Samriel protested, "Level ten?! In just one day! Is that actually possible?? I-I mean...even if I were to get to level ten, I'd still be nowhere near your level." The healer gestured towards Mack. "You guys can't need an under-leveled healer that badly."

  3. They had both ended up on their asses and yet here he was helping her up. Taking his hand, Samriel allowed him to help her to her feet as she quirked a smile, "And they say chivalry's dead."  She was used to men being courteous to her, given her appearance. It was part of the reason she usually played as a guy in games. But it was still fun to tease them once in a while. However she was starting to get a little weirded out by the way he was staring at her, until she figured out it wasn't really her, it was over her shoulder where he was staring.

At his comment, she sighed and nodded. "You have no idea. You don't even have a braid that they seem to think is their own personal climbing rope." The blonde emphasized her comment by bringing her knee length hair over her shoulder. "My poor scalp couldn't take any more of those hellions." Though her tone and words fit, her fond expression belied them as she watched them run and play through the streets, back towards the orphanage.

Turning to look back at the man, Sam said, "I really am sorry about bowling you over like that. Can I make it up to you somehow?" She wasn't really sure how, but everyone in the starting city needed something after all that was why they were still here. "I'm Samriel by the way." She greeted, this time offering her hand to him for a shake.

  4. At Mack's groan about what time it being, Samriel guffawed at the reference, wishing dearly that she knew how to do that dance just to annoy him further. But she was much too taken up with the friendly meeting of weapons with her new 'hammer buddy'. With a wide grin at Magda's enthusiasm, the blonde began to nod at her question before her eyes widened exponentially. The look in her eyes at the phrase 'Shield Sisters' could only be described as ecstatic, they were practically glistening with euphoria. "Really?!" The blonde asked with greater enthusiasm. To say that she usually had a lack of female friends would be an understatement, this was a monumental occasion for her! Quickly swiping into her inventory once more, the blonde equipped Twilight, the rounded silver shield that had countless gems inlaid into it that mimicked its namesake appeared strapped to her left forearm. Sam's ears were a bit warm, still getting used to having such a frankly bedazzling piece of equipment as it was very unlike her usual plain tastes and a bit girly to her, but it was a fine shield nonetheless.

After Mack confirmed to his excited twin that she would indeed get to fight, her lavender eyes rolled at his tone  when he scowlingly berated her for putting all of her points into the only healing skill in the game. "See if I heal you then." Sam replied with fake sniff, knowing of course that should the ridiculously high leveled man truly need it, she'd heal him regardless of what she said.

Catching Magda's questioning glance and query, she felt as if an explanation was due as she nodded with a shrug. "It seemed like the most useful. The guild I was in already had everything else covered anyway. I figured I could always level up other stuff later but healing people was more important at early levels."  At the red haired woman's sound logic, Samriel nodded firmly with an easy smile. "That's the plan. So who's that Pokemon~?" Clearing her throat at the old joke to cover a chuckle she amended, "Where's this Queen?"

  5. Yet another day in the central city of floor one. Aincrad had opened a lot more floors since it had all begun, but Samriel (along with countless other players) stuck to where it was safe. How long had it been, she wondered, since they had been trapped in here? A year? It was hard to gauge with the odd passage of time. But still she kept herself busy. Since her guild fell apart, Sam had been alternating between being extremely lazy and trying to act like she was busy. Yet due to her low level, she could only do so much. Like right now. She had stumbled across an orphanage a couple of months ago. Her guild had helped them out a few times, helping the kids level up a bit to keep them entertained but safe. They also came by to give them goodies and just some company.

These kids were way too young to be playing a game like this, but of course when did parents ever actually listen or read to the warnings? The blonde couldn't remember the technical rating for this game, but knew that it had to at least be T for Teen. Most of the kids there weren't even twelve, let alone teenagers. They were always happy to see her. Well truth be told they were always happy whenever anyone visited. Of course they were free to wander the safe zone, but then their caretakers, the players that had volunteered themselves to look after the rag tag bunch of children, would worry sick and trail behind them anyway. But they weren't all cute pigtails and adorable curly hair. Some of them were real brats.

"Sucks to be short!" Samriel exclaimed with a cackle to one of her tiny pursuers. They yelled and hollered at her to give up and that they'd maker her submit, yada yada yada. "Nyeeeh!" The blonde took time to turn as she ran to pull a face at them, her tongue sticking out. And of course that caused her to crash straight into a man with long dark hair. "Oooph!" She crashed hard and winced at the landing. The kids that had been running after her stopped to laugh, calling her a few names before seeing her shake her fist at them, which caused them to immediately turn tail and run. "Yeah that's right, run you little devil midgits! Gah..." Then glancing up at Kranzer, the blonde smoothed back the hair that was loose from her long braid and smiled awkwardly. "Sorry about that. You alright?"

  6. At the news that she hadn't been entirely late since she made it with ten seconds to spare, Samriel let out a relieved sigh before immediately choking as a shovel like hand knocked the wind out of her lungs with a heavy clap on the back. Coughing roughly with wide eyes, the blonde was able to catch the gist of what Magda said and replied evasively with hoarse voice, "Oh, uh...sure, maybe sometime." She was not an early riser. Not that she couldn't rise early should the situation call for it...she just preferred not to if she had any choice over it.

Standing up and rubbing the area of her back where Mack had hit, the blonde wondered why on earth the amazon woman would do such a thing every morning. Perhaps she was simply a healthy person. But in a game...? Focusing on what Mack was telling them, Sam nodded along, glancing at Magda as her twin named her the team's designated tank and smiling back at her when she gave approval at her role of choice. Everybody loved the healer. At least until they lost...or in this case died... Then it was all the healer's fault. Mack's one armed hug was sudden, but she shrugged it off. Perhaps he was simply a 'touchy person'. When the statuesque man told them what to do when they fought, Samriel nodded again before quirking an eyebrow and chuckling. "I got it, but...security blanket? Not that your presence isn't comforting." She placated somewhat jokingly.

Glancing sidelong at Magda as she seemed to perk up about something, the blonde's eyebrows raised at her questions and then focused on her hammer. A surprised smile spread across her face before she quickly swiped to equip Dawnbreaker and hold it out towards the fiery haired woman. "Hammers! Unite!" Samriel declared in deep thunderous voice. This was a first for her, she'd never encountered someone else that wielded the one handed warhammer. It seemed rather unpopular compared to the flashier and higher damaging weapons.

  7. Watching as the broad blacksmith seemed to be staving off a headache as he rubbed his temples while groaning with closed eyes, Samriel felt a little bad and hoped she wasn't adding to his stress. Then again, he had asked for all this, sending out that mass PM like that. What had the man expected? Squinting in confusion momentarily as he told her what to do, she briefly wondered which of these players was 'the beggar' before she realized he was talking about the bear-dog. She didn't quite like how he said that they were going to 'have some words after everyone had cleared out'. That couldn't be good. In fact it was nearly foreboding. Fighting the urge to drop the items and walk out (or perhaps just run off with them), the blonde nodded hesitantly. After all, she couldn't think of a reason he would hurt her or anything. Though this set up did remind her oddly of a white van scenario... "Alright I guess..."

Listening to his orders concerning the other players in the tent, Sam's mouth quirked in an amused lopsided smile, mainly at the blonde boy's expense. Looking down at the furry familiar, she tried to nudge him off of her feet. "C'mon Sir Begs-a-lot." Eventually Chewie did free her feet and she moved to where Mack had said, glancing around around to make sure she couldn't be seen. Before she could do much else though, the blacksmith's familiar groaned a whine and she sighed. Then she set down the items she had been given and flicked open her menu and went to her inventory. "I don't really have much else for you to eat. Just bread." Still, she gave him a piece of bread anyway, hoping that it would sate some of his hunger as well as get him to leave her alone for a little bit. "Jeez, does he never feed you or are you just a bottomless pit?" Her complaint was said with a small smile though as she gave one final scratch to his head before turning back to the laid out equipment.

Going to her menu once more, Samriel began unequipping her current starter gear. She had been wearing a fairly plain dark purple slit dress that had some chain mail and small pieces of heavy armor in strategic places. But now in her black under things, she then began equipping the fancy items. Once done, the blonde looked down at herself. She felt....a bit silly actually. Like she was playing dress up in her mom's clothes or something. These items were obviously way above her level. They were absolutely amazing and gorgeous and she didn't feel like she deserved them even a littlest bit. Raising a finger away from Dawnbreaker's grip to swipe open her menu to unequip everything, Samriel paused as it showed a smaller version of her avatar to demonstrate what she had equipped. She looked....impressive and beautiful. Like a real warrior. And her stats were amazing! Her eyes widened exponentially when she saw how through the roof her mitigation was with what she had on.

  8.  Samriel came running from around the corner of an Urbus building, the cape of her armor along with her long braid flapping behind her as the wolf hood bounced on her back. She was late. ...Again. She wouldn't have felt bad, but she was feeling mighty appreciative to the man that had pretty much completely outfitted her, gave her an invitation to a pretty nice party and now was offering to let her tag along to a quest with his sister and get some xp! ...And she was late. Part of it was because she had went to the wrong area. She had thought he had meant the first floor portal plaza and scoured the area before rereading the message and giving herself a face-palm. But mainly it was because she had slept past her alarm. She liked sleeping in and wasn't used to having to wake up early for anything. Finally having arrived at the right area, Sam's eyes scanned the area before quickly spotting Mack and Magda. They were hard to miss, tall as they both were, but mainly due to what he was wearing. Jogging up to the blacksmith and his twin, the blonde then leaned over, her hands resting on her knees as she caught her breath. "S-Sorry....late...slept...'larm." She tried pathetically to explain before righting herself and swallowing a large amount of air and finally got out, "Sorry I'm late guys. Hooo... Nothing like a run to wake you up."

  9. As Magda concurred with her opinion on the hot springs, a grin spread across Samriel's face as she relaxed back into the water, not quite floating on her back as the redhead had been. At the slowly changing expression on the red head's face as she stared at Sam, the blonde was beginning to realize that she hadn't recognized her at first sight, which was understandable. For her it was hard to forget the woman that surely real amazons were envious of but wasn't hard to figure that the opposite wasn't true. The woman had likely seen scores of players that day. She was simply one of the many. Still for some reason, that disheartened her even though she knew it shouldn't. Instead she focused on the redhead's explanation for her attire. Raising an eyebrow with an interested smile to accompany it, Sam echoed, "Thrown in? Hm, well at least you got out of the cold. And actually." The blonde glanced around before leaning towards Magda and whispering conspiratorially, "I don't have a swimsuit either. This is my underwear." Then the blonde grinned widely at her spilled secret.  When the taller women made a comment about glitter not killing her as long as the effect wasn't permanent, the blonde let out a breathy chuckle. "Aw, but think of the tactical advantages. Your enemies would be too bedazzled by your stunning appearance that you'd be able to easily cut them down while simultaneously outshining them!" Samriel then cackled at her numerous bad puns. When Magda spoke her name, the blonde's face lit up, immediately brightening at the realization that she had remembered her after all. "Yeah!" Smiling widely, she took the woman's outstretched arm and shook hands firmly, meeting her eyes. "Nice to formally meet you Magda." Relaxing back in the water again, unconsciously mimicking her conversational partner, Sam replied, "Well I guess it was intentional. A sort of reverse oasis. You can't really appreciate the hot unless you're cold and vice versa." She was going to speak more on the subject, but before she could, a purple bird that seemed to be made of fire flew right up to her face and began...nuzzling her?? "Uh-W-? Hello there..." Samriel greeted unsurely at the very friendly greeting from the familiar. "Jeez what is it with these guys." First Mack's bear dog and now this thing. It was pretty and cute though... The blonde reached out a finger to gently scratch its head. "So what's this party for anyway? Just cuz?" She asked of Magda curiously.

  10. At Mack's comment that the hammer weapon skill was an 'interesting choice to put all of her starting skill points into', Samriel shook her head and corrected, "Eh I haven't actually put any into any combat skill yet. Been leveling up First Aid. So you can see why I could really use the gear." Without any weapon or armor skills, she relied on the stats of her equips to keep her alive and hitting. Still, she thought her skill points were well spent. Watching the blacksmith walk along one of the many tables he had set up, this one holding an assortment of weapons, he paused before picking up a silver hammer that definitely looked above her price range. She hadn't seen anything else like it, it looked like a special drop from a boss or something! She was sure he was going to put it down and pick something more fitting to just give away for free, but the tall man simply surveyed her for a moment before handing it to her, much to her incredulity. Eyebrows raised, Samriel accepted the heavy weapon into her hands, blinking as she looked down at the jeweled warhammer, running a finger over the gems before looking up at Mack with open mouth as he told her the weapon's stats. It was even better than she thought. She had only encountered weapons that raised one point of one specific stat, but two different ones at once?

And yet the red haired man didn't stop there! He walked over to a table where heavy armor sets were laid out before picking up a gold piece of armor that was inlaid with rubies. It also came with a cape but the hood, or helm she supposed, was what really caught her attention. All in all the entire set just looked really awesome and once more, very expensive. It not only just looked expensive, but when the blacksmith rattled off the stats on it, Samriel's reeled. "Th-That's..." That was a lot of mitigation. And she had only ever heard of health regeneration before. But he wasn't done!

Next he walked over to where the shields were before picking through the lot and finally retrieving a silver shield that was nearly covered in jewels in a pattern that was much like its namesake. She awkwardly accepted the additional item, her arms now filled with gear as she listened to the stats of Twilight with wide eyes. Even more mitigation! She'd practically be a tank with all of this! But as she looked down at the armful of valuable equipment, she felt her stomach tighten. Dammit... Samriel looked up at the blacksmith with large and mildly overwhelmed lavender eyes, but he continued speaking. At his comment concerning scantily clad armor, the busty blonde couldn't help but chuckle, appreciating his zeal for his craft. "Good to see that you know how to protect a woman and make her look good." Okay that came out a bit flirty, but hell, could anyone really blame her when the muscular man was literally throwing jewels into her arms? Curse her materialistic tendencies...

She was about to answer his comment on her choice of weapon, but the entrance of the girl fearing boy distracted them both as he hid behind the blacksmith of all places. Raising an eyebrow at the display, Samriel then snorted a laugh and would have covered her mouth trying to hide her chuckles if her arms hadn't been laden down. And when Mack raised his arms in a sort of salute to the uteruses in the tent, Samriel obliged him by bowing in acknowledgement, attempting to school her facial expression into one of serious and imperious nature before falling back into a good-natured smile.

At Mack's comment about hoping that the women didn't disembowel his familiar, the blonde felt a weight on her feet and leaned to see Chewie sprawled on his back over her feet with his large paws in the air. Shaking her head in amusement she commented, "Are you sure that he isn't just a really big and fat dog?" She would have obliged by scratching his belly, but her hands were full sadly.

When the blacksmith urged her to try the gear on, the woman's face fell and she looked at him with a serious and questioning gaze. "Are you sure about this?" She asked in a low tone just between the two of them. "I mean I get that you're being really generous and all, but this is some pretty good sh-, gear isn't it?" The blonde kept herself from cursing just barely before continuing, "I'd be okay with some simpler stuff. I didn't expect much when I came here." Honestly she thought that the equipment would be better served on a higher leveled player than her, or just more ambitious even, but felt awkward about saying that aloud. "I'm not a frontliner or even trying to be. I chose the warhammer because I read in the manual that the beta testers helped write up that it had the best stunning Sword Arts out of all of the weapons. I just want to help out a little. That's why I put all my points into First Aid."

  11. Samriel was fairly sure that this was her least favorite floor yet. Not that she had explored many to be honest. But the California girl couldn't be blamed. She simply wasn't used to such cold weather. Though honestly it did get really cold at night in the desert. It was different when one was safe in their insulated houses than wandering around a snow covered area in search of the mystery 'hot springs'. The mysterious benefactor slash blacksmith, Mack, had PMed her along with a few others that she saw, inviting them to a get together at the location she was attempting to find. Squinting at the map, the blonde then turned down a path and began to hear the telltale sounds of a party. There was light music playing but it was drowned out by the numerous conversations that overlapped each other.

Stepping towards the area as she shivered, the blonde then paused as she caught sight of a table that was set up along with a large punch bowl and numerous cups. But what caught her interest most was the notice posted next to it, stating that everyone had to drink before going in. "Well that doesn't sound the least bit suspicious..." She commented sarcastically to herself before glancing towards the sound of the revelry. Well it certainly didn't sound like people were dropping dead or anything, so it must be harmless. Why would the guy who had given away what she was sure was half of his shop's items for free to underlevelled players go around poisoning people? So she filled a cup and drank the fruity drink feeling refreshed but still just as cold as before.

Eager to warm herself, Samriel hurried towards the hot springs, not noticing the change in her skin and hair as she was bundled up so. But when she entered the secluded area, the busty blonde paused. There were a lot of people here. Most of them she didn't recognize of course, which came as no surprise to her. Most of those she knew were around her own level and still chilling back on the first floor. But she did see a few here that she knew. Mack, for one. And there was that guy that gave her direction's to Mack's shop. And that other blonde she'd seen in the tent. And oh, hey, wasn't that the amazon woman? Maybe this wouldn't be so bad. Still, Samriel stuck to the edges as she looked around and saw that pretty much everyone but for a very select few were in swim wear. It only made sense after all. Hot springs and all, not many would likely go all Japanese anime style and dip in naked or just in a towel.

Flicking open her menu with a shaky finger, she went through her inventory and tried to figure out how she would do this. She didn't really have a 'swimsuit', but perhaps her underwear would do? It was black and not really very distinguishable between underwear and bikini. Deciding that it would have to work since it was all she had, Samriel unequipped everything but her under things. Then lavender eyes scanned the crowd until she focused on Mack, eh, he looked pretty busy. He had an arm wrapped around a girl and was talking to a lot of people. But his sister on the other hand... Was drifting lazily on her back.

Shivering and walking quickly towards the area of hot springs where the large woman was, Sam then jumped in. Not quite a cannon ball, but still causing a splash to all those around. Head emerging from the steaming water, Sam sighed with a grin. "Ohhhh that feels so good. Nice to see you again." The busty blonde greeted Magda before her smile turned into one of bemusement as she pointed out, "So is this a new swimsuit fashion statement?" Gesturing to what the redhead had on before pausing as she caught sight of her glittery hand. "Whooaa...that's cool. The punch I guess. I was always more Team Jacob though." Sam shrugged with an easy going smile.

  12. Samriel watched as a number of male players departed the tent, freshly laden with free gear. Some were more...'interesting' than others. Though some looked like regular people. Looks could always be deceiving however. The tent's flap opened once more to let another player in, yet another blonde it seemed. It made the blonde woman smirk, finding great amusement that four different blondes occupied the tent all at the same time. But this newcomer seemed another odd one. He seemed frozen at the entrance as he stared at the three blonde girls, muttering to himself before...walking straight up to the blacksmith and...hiding behind him? Sam raised an eyebrow wordlessly before shaking her head.

She wasn't left to herself for long before there was a weird sound, almost like an animal. And suddenly there was a bear charging straight for her. Lavender eyes going wide as the cannon ball of fur launched itself at her, Samriel exclaimed, "Holy Jesus!" Teetering for a moment before regaining her balance. Blinking rapidly, the busty blonde realized that this was the bear that player had told them about. "Shoulda known it wouldn't be a real bear. Er, sorry, I mean fully grown bear." She felt awkward about trying to spare the familiar's feelings. Was their AI advanced enough to react that way?

Her question was partially answered when Chewie cartoonishly mimed out exactly what he wanted. Snorting a chuckle, Sam told him with amused smile, "Well I can hardly give you food when my arms are busy not dropping you." She knelt down to set the cub on the floor before opening her menu and seeing what she had. Not a whole of a lot. But there was some jerky she had been saving for a snack. Retrieving it from her inventory, Samriel wordlessly held it out to the cub while her other hand began scratching his head. Scratching the head of a grizzly bear cub. Sometimes she really loved video games. Then she belatedly realized that it was likely rude to just up and start feeding another person's 'pet' treats without asking permission first. Guiltily glancing up at Mack she called out, "Um, sorry, hope that was okay."

Glancing back as another player entered the tent, Sam nodded in greeting as she looked at the woman in interest, wondering if she could see through that weird eye cover of hers. But her attention was turned back to the blacksmith as he asked Allania and herself what he could do for them. Looking to her temporary companion, Samriel was going to motion for Allania to go ahead of her, but it seemed that the girl was still making up her mind. Ruffling Chewie's fur once more for good measure, Samriel stood and walked up to the generous blacksmith with a polite smile and a nod. "Hi, I'm Samriel. Nice to meet the mysterious and generous benefactor of the low leveled players. Some heavy armor would be nice. With mitigation if you have any, but I'm not picky. Do you happen to have any hammers around by any chance?" It wasn't a popular weapon so she wouldn't be surprised if he didn't have any of her weapon of choice.

  13. Before the barely shorter blonde had time to reply to Samriel's words, a young man with mousy hair approached them, or rather the other blonde as he looked at her specifically before giving directions. It was was soon apparent where to by the description of how they would know they were in the right place. "A bear?" Sam murmured to herself in skepticism. There was no way someone could tame a bear, it was just too large! But Hydra seemed very sure of it before excusing himself politely as he was in a hurry. Nodding in farewell to the helpful stranger, Sam shrugged at Allania before heading in the direction he had pointed, her boots sinking into the snow that left a trail before fading away again.

If a player hadn't just pointed them this way, she would have been sure they were going in the wrong direction. Wasn't this blacksmith supposed to be a high level frontliner? There was hardly anything at all around this part of town, at the bare edges of the safe zone. All she saw was a tent and though it looked fairly large was still rather plain. Trying to convince herself that perhaps she shouldn't judge a book by its cover, Sam trudged on ahead of Allania before pausing at the tent's flap, hearing a deep masculine voice as she peeked in. There were at least half a dozen players that looked poorly geared, though still better than herself, waiting in line in front of a man that towered above them all and could have been the amazon woman's twin. Hm...maybe he was? She had said that they were siblings after all. Pulling the tent's flap open for the other blonde woman to step into, Samriel told her, "I think we're in the right place." Before following in after her.

The busty blonde was content to hang in back and let the others get their pick. She had arrived very late after all. Currently the red haired blacksmith was speaking to some boy with white hair, alluding that misfortune would fall upon him in the form of his own fury should the player ever use the items he was bequeathing him for any misdeeds. Raising an eyebrow as he just as quickly went from threatening to showing off a sword, Sam watched as the blacksmith worked. She didn't notice the tent's furry occupant as she crossed her arms loosely before rolling her hip and settling her weight on one leg in a more comfortable waiting position.

  14. Observing the smile that drew across the amazon woman's face and not entirely sure if that was a good or bad sign for her, Samriel relaxed after she had answered. When Magda mentioned that the smith that set this all up was her brother, the blonde couldn't help but smile as she interjected, "Ha, knew it." Though then struggled to school her expression into a more polite one as she continued listening silently, glancing at the teleporter she mentioned. The woman's expression when she warned Sam of the floor's weather was rather telling. One would think that the lower leveled floors would be mild and easy, in both terms of hardship as well as weather, but that would be too simple apparently.

Her lavender eyes focused sharply on Magda's as she warned the lower leveled player to stay within the limits of the safe zone. That was actually reassuring, it seemed that both the amazon woman and she assumed by extension her smith brother were actually concerned about other player's wellfare. Nodding in understanding, Sam repeated the description of the other player in her mind before replying, "I'll look out for her. Thanks for the directions." Smiling at the redhead as she walked past, the blonde raised a hand and told her, "I'm Samriel by the way." Then stopping in front of the designated area she called out, "Teleport Snowfrost."

Immediately upon appearing on the fourth floor, Samriel understood the woman's warning about the weather. "Frick frick frick, I miss California, frick...." Cursing under her breath as she tried to draw the over-shawl of her dark purple starter armored dress, she trudged on, tucking her hands underneath her armpits as she squinted through the snow flurries whipping about in the breeze. She spotted a female like figure ahead and tried to pick up her pace until she was nearly caught up to Allania. Petite and blonde, like the amazon had said. "Hey there, don't mean to startle you. But you're heading to the smith that's doing the grand giveaway, right? I am too. Name's Samriel."

  15. Nearly a week ago, Sam had gotten an odd PM in from some random player she'd never even heard of. And it wasn't just her apparently. Every player she'd spoken to had received the same message. The Starting City was in a tizzy over it. For days there were debates about whether it was a trap or not. There had been murmurs of players disappearing, not dying, just vanishing and nobody able to locate them. But then word began to circulate that the person who sent the PM was actually an accomplished blacksmith who actually fought on the front lines. That was the sort of player one could usually trust. His generosity was surprising and somewhat inspiring, touching Samriel on a personal level.

She wasn't sure if she'd actually go though. It was doubtless that dozens of players would be leaping at the opportunity for free weapons and armor, and who was she to take them in their place? The blonde wasn't particularly ambitious, she had been content to meander in the Town of Beginnings for months after her guild had broken up due to the death of their leader. But perhaps now was the time to get back out there and fighting. Obviously not on the front lines, but it would be nice to level up some more. She didn't feel like it, but she was definitely still one of the lowest leveled players in the game left.

Upon arriving at the meeting place at the designated date and time, Samriel paused in front of a building as she surveyed the scene. There were countless players gathered around a monster of a man. It was hard to believe they made them that big. And in that color scheme. Though she rationalized that there was still the possibility that that wasn't his real hair color. She strolled around the edge of the courtyard, watching as he spoke to the under-leveled and in some cases, young, players before inviting them back to his shop after numerous reassurances that it was in a safe zone. He seemed nice enough. But after he left, she realized that she had missed her opportunity. Oh well. Sitting at a bench and trying to decide what to do with her day now, the blonde woman then realized that there was still one player left that stuck sorely out. She was nearly a copy of the generous blacksmith, right down to the towering stature. A relative? That was hard to imagine but not impossible obviously...

Watching for a moment longer, Samriel saw a small group of more players approach the statuesque redhead before she spoke with them and then they departed through the teleporter as well. "Hmm..." Making up her mind, Sam stood and walked straight towards Magda before stopping a few feet from her. "Hello there. Would I be speaking to the right person if I wanted to ask about that PM concerning free gear?"

Samantha Jesse Sandoval was born along the coast of California in the United States of America to two loving parents, her father who was a Marine First Sergeant, Xavier and her mother Lucia, who was a high school counselor. Her childhood was fairly ordinary until the end of middle school. A speeding car crashed into her while she had been riding her bike and the end result was severe injury to her spinal cord that left her paraplegic along with other bone fractures and a minor concussion. Thankfully the person that had hit her had good insurance and paid for all of her hospital bills, but even the best care couldn't return her ability to walk. It was an odd sensation to say the least. She was still a child, just starting to grow up and hadn't even yet decided what she really wanted to be when she 'grew up'. She could have been a ballerina, a Marine, an athlete. For a while this troubled her; acclimating herself to her new lifestyle was painstaking and all she could think of were the 'what ifs'. Eventually though, with the aid of her parents, Sam was able to become more or less independent. At least as much as any minor could. Her mother counseled her on her fears and worries and dark thoughts, calming her mind and soul. And her father pushed her to her limits, never letting her give up, strengthening her body and character.

It took her a while to adjust back into school, having missed over a year that she was supposed to have entered high school, setting her education back. But still she didn't give up. The awkward treatment at the hands of classmates and teachers and students took time to either correct or simply get used to, but she focused on what she could do, not letting her disability hold her back. Instead of focusing on what she couldn't do, she found things that she could. Reading, writing, singing and playing a few instruments became her solace. She poured over library's worth of books and always asked her parents for recommendations. Occasionally writing little stories based on them and asking them to be read and criticized. Her mother taught her piano and her father knew a little of how to play the guitar, telling her little stories of when he used it to woo her mother. She tried learning the violin on her own, but it was extremely difficult.

Eventually a friend interested her in gaming as well. Since she was already familiar with computers, she played a few MMORPGs and though she was rather terrible at first, she began to get better. Her fun and games didn't interfere with her studies however. With the help of her high GPA and disability, she achieved a scholarship to a private University after finally graduating high school a bit later than most others her age. Moving away from home and staying in a dorm room more or less alone but for a roommate was a new experience for Sam. She had only ever been surrounded by her family, comforted in their presence even if they weren't home at the time as their work often called kept them busy. But she was an adult now and she had always worked hard to be independent, she couldn't let her parents or herself down now.

College turned out to be better than anything she could have expected. It had so much freedom and she truly felt like her own person. It was also her first taste of love, in her freshman year when she was still wide eyed and impressionable. In hindsight she supposed that she might have fallen so deeply and quickly in love with him because he was simply the first that expressed true romantic interest in her. That saw her for who she was rather than a girl in a wheelchair. But it wasn't meant to be. Barely a year and a half later they got into a rather large and shamefully public fight in which he declared that he had been dating her all this time out of pity. And to add insult to injury, he called making love to her "like f%#&ing a corpse".  Needless to say, they didn't get back together. The end of their relationship and moreover, the slap in the face of 'the truth', was a blow to her ego and ability to trust others romantically. If someone that she loved and thought loved her could fool her for over a year, how could she ever tell if someone was with her because they truly wanted to be? After she recovered emotionally, she decided to focus on her schoolwork, or more importantly her major, which she had yet to declare. But she kept putting it off and putting it off until it was the summer before the new semester.

That was when her primary care physician contacted her about a game of all things. A virtual reality game specifically. One that would use a new technology called Nerve Gear to completely immerse her brain activity into the game's system and simulate a body, a real working body. Sam was obviously curious and thought that it couldn't hurt anything to give it a try. The game couldn't be dangerous after all, it seemed like it was quite popular considering what she had read up and how many people had re-ordered it and did beta testing. The worst thing that could happen was that for some reason her character also wouldn't be able to walk and she'd just go back to her normal games. So she agreed and her doctor procured her the necessary equipment, scheduling an appointment so that they could monitor her for experiments sake. She didn't mind being a guinea pig. After all, what could possibly go wrong? As they say, famous last words.

    Virtues:

Perseverant: Once Samriel sets her mind to do something, there is little that can either stop her or change her mind. This could be reaching a certain level within a set amount of time, finishing a quest without any party members getting below a certain health, or finding materials. She takes great pleasure in accomplishing set goals or ones that she creates for herself. And if for some reason she can't complete a goal, she will be drawn into a state of temporary depression and frustration.

Compassionate: While seeming a bit too casual at times, Samriel truly wishes to help those in need and alleviate whatever is distressing them. This doesn't mean that she is easily swayed by tears or a 'sob story', but if she feels there is something she can do to help a person that is genuinely trying to help themselves or someone else, she will help them. This comes in many forms, whether it be excessive generosity or just spending time with some kids. This help may at times be unwanted or come in a roundabout form.

Prudent: Samriel is diplomatic in both words and choices, careful to not take risks. These could be physical risks to her own person, someone she cares about, or even risks within friendship or guild dynamic. She hates regrets perhaps a bit more than the average person and tries to take care to not do or say anything that she herself would later regret unless her temper gets the better of her.

    Flaws:

Clumsy: Having spent roughly half of her life without walking, having working legs again took some getting used to and sometimes Samriel still has trouble utilizing her leg full range of movement. This can affect a harmless conversation or even a deadly fight at least until she is able to train her mind and avatar's body to become accustomed to her legs once again. If one comments or teases her about her clumsiness, Samriel will become embarrassed and attempt to make excuses, some more far-fetched than others.

Proud: Developed from both nature and nurture due to her Marine father and disability, Samriel has become a very proudly independent person, showing excessive self-esteem, and will often shirk help from others for the sake of pride. However there are exceptions to the rule as she knows that sometimes there isn't a place for pride. Chivalry is something she's at odds with because of this. She also prefers not to take handouts. Her pride only extends as far as her mortality becomes apparent, she refuses to die for the sake of her pride.

Self-indulging: Life is short and then you die. So why not treat yourself? Samriel understands the important of saving up for bigger better things, but she is primarily a firm believer in treating oneself. Splurging on a dessert, game or shiny new item never fails to pick up her mood. But she isn't always the best accountant. This can lead to her being bare of col to spend for some needed potions or other items if she has splurged and spent the col on some delicious treats.
