  1. This last tree had Bhairyuu practically sweating bullets because he was so afraid of ending up with bad wood again like he did a few attempts back, but he somehow managed to calm himself down to normal and then went on to examine the tree as he did with the previous one looking for any signs of termite infestation or anything else that might make the wood unsuitable like rot or fungus. He spent several minutes doing this and at the end, he breathed a sigh of satisfaction

"Well, this one looks okay, now let's see..."

With that, he began the same process of hacking the tree to small more manageable sections, arranged them in a loose pile and then tapped on it. He was pretty optimistic about this one as well, but little did he know that fate had other plans for him with this tree

When the results window came up, he eagerly read through it, but by the end that expectant smile he had on his lips fell slightly, and he muttered in with a crestfallen expression on his face

"Damn...not again...oh wait...I didn't think to account for the tree having become rotten inside...I will keep that in mind for the next one, I guess..."

Consoling himself thus, he moved deeper into the forest in search of another cluster and luckily enough for him, there were several clusters situated not too far from each other, but he did not let himself get pulled in to another false hope. Instead he carefully examined the trees for any common diseases he could think of and then got into position for chopping them down, beginning with the first one.

  2. With the next tree, Bhairyuu was much more careful and thorough in examining the tree beforehand from root to branch and was thus confident that his pick would yield him decent quality wood which was not infested with termites or anything else for that matter. So without any further ado, he set about heaving his axe at the branches and trunk of the tree and thanked his lucky stars when it fell to his blow easily and formed another loose pile on the ground. He got down on one knee, examined the wood again to be doubly sure of his hunch, and then tapped the wood pile while uttering a silent prayer like before. After that, he began the few seconds wait for the pop-up screen to show with his eyes closed

It was not till the alert sounded to indicate the presence of the pop-up window that he dared to open his eyes. As he then gazed at the result of his hard work, his thin lips parted and curve upward into a smile and he sighed in relief

"Holy Heisenberg, now that...was nerve-wracking indeed...I was so worried I would get bad wood again...but I guess my luck hasn't run out quite yet...let's keep it going then..."

With that, he came to the last tree in the current cluster and positioned himself so he could swing his axe at the tree and not end up hurting himself in the process. Like before he offered a silent prayer, hoping he would get lucky this time too.

  3. Bhairyuu moved on to the next tree in the cluster and stood before it, running his hand on the trunk and even on the branches, wondering aloud

"Hmm, this promises to be a good source of wood as well...and what's this...it feels like pine..."

He muttered thus as he took note of the pine needles and the characteristic seeds this three had growing from it before retreating a few steps to give himself enough room for his next strike. He then began to hum his most favorite theme song from one of his favorite anime "One Piece" as it was appropriate for the occasion since the concept ship he had designed was going to be based off it's namesake from the anime as he swung the axe at the branches first, cleaving them in one strike and causing them to fall to the ground. Then he slammed the axe against the trunk a few times on the right, and then a few times on the left, causing it to fall to the ground. After that, he hacked it into several smaller sections which also fell to the ground in a loose pile. At that point, he paused and got down on one knee and tapped the wood pile gently and waited for the usual popup screen to come, hoping that he got a hit this time too

To his great chagrin, he was awarded with termite infested wood despite the tree having looking like a promising candidate, causing him to sigh

"Aw man...struck out again...I guess I have a long way to go in judging a tree's worth in the way of wood yield...Ah well...on to the next one..."

Thus, with his head hung low and a dejected expression on his face, Bhairyuu moved to the next tre in the cluster, this one being a pine tree as well and silently prayed that he would be blessed with better luck this time as he brought his axe into position once more.

  4. Bhairyuu let out a woebegone sigh and muttered as he faced the next tree which was slightly thicker than older-looking than the one he had just cut down

"Hopefully this one will give me some wood...at this point, I don't really care about high quality...please, let it be suitable..."

With that he swung his axe at the trunk fo the tree in a series of powerful swings, cutting it down into smaller sections which he let fall to the ground beside the previous wood pile and knelt down, tapping on the new wood pile to see if he got some better wood this time around

To his great surprise, the results of his gathering came out showing that the wood he had gathered this time was not only suitable, but of a higher quality that the usual, causing Bhairyuu a fair degree of elation as he muttered

"Yes...now this is what I am talking about...Hopefully the rest of my attempts will be this successful...Come on, Lady Luck, dont fail me now..."

With that, he put the pile of good quality wood he got this time into his inventory under the quest items and then went over to the next tree.

    [OOC: 1x <<Rare>> Wood Bundle]

  5. After several minutes had elapsed, Bhairyuu finally finished laying out a plan of action that he felt was efficient enough to get him the wood without him have to take any great pains to obtain it. So, he got up, dusted the moss off the seat of his trousers and then headed toward the first tree of the cluster he had found earlier. Once there, he ran his hand across it, trying to gauge how difficult it would be to cut through it. Thankfully this particular tree was still rather young compared to the rest of its cluster and yet held the promise of yielding wood of a decent quality. So he pulled up his inventory menu and clicked on the picture of his hand-axe, causing it to materialize in his right hand. After that, he put a few feet between him and the tree and then slammed the axe into the tree trunk with a powerful swing, cutting halfway through it to the center. Then he went to the other side and repeated the same procedure, causing the trunk to go into a fall. While it was still in mid-air, Bhairyuu hacked at it several more times, causing it to be cut into several smaller sections which fell into a pile on the ground next to him. Bhairyuu laid his axe on the ground and then tapped the pile of wood, causing a translucent window to pop up and he eagerly waited to see the results, wondering

"Hmm, I hope I get some <<Normal>> quality wood from this at least...it would be a pain to have to do this too many times.."

Interpretation: Gathering Failure! Wood was underdeveloped!

Bhairyuu took one look at the results of his gathering and let out a soft groan of exasperation as he noted the undeveloped nature of the wood pieces

"Ugh..come on...Lady Luck...why do you seek to thwart me thus? And I was hoping for atleast decent wood...Ah well...onto the next tree, I guess..."

With that, he trudged over to the next tree and after taking a few minutes to rest from his previous attempt, he took up his position again, hoping this next one would do the trick.

  6. Bhairyuu had handed over some of his potions to Khrys and then after bidding him adieu, he had gone further into the lush forest on the bank of the lake they were at several moments ago with that <<Lady of the Lake>> NPC. After searching for about an hour, he found a cluster of trees that seemed promising to him in terms of probabilty of wood yield and so he decided to take a break and sat down on one of the fallen logs covered with moss, wondering

"Hmm, now how should I go about gathering all that wood? Should I go fancy and pretend I am Zoro? Or should I go the bland, uninspired route and simply chop them down without any theatrics involved?...Hmm...decisions...decisions..."

He thus became lost in this reverie for several minutes as he considered all the possible options available to him in order to do his end of the task more efficiently.

  7. Bhairyuu sighed as he saw Khrys and realized that while on the inside he must have been craving that solid gold axe, on the outside he had said something totally different...he had refused that axe. He then looked at the <<Lady of the Lake>> and saw her smile at the two of them and then she brought out a solid silver axe and posed the same question, but this time to him instead of Khrys. Bhairyuu chuckled deeply, and then replied

"Milady, I regret to inform you...that's not the axe which we are in search of...so please show us the third and last axe you claim to have found in the waters of your lake."

The <<Lady of the Lake>> nodded and with one last smile, she presented the third and final axe which was the plain axe that Khrys had ben holding before this mini-event began and then she put the same query to them once more

"This is the last of the axes in my possession, but it is a plain axe...not worth anything at all...so now answer me this...is this the axe which you two seek?"

  8. A few seconds after Khrys had made his little verbal faux-pas since he was too busy ogling the woman, Bhairyuu also snapped out of his red bloodedness-induced stupor and hastened to reply to woman lest she grow cross with him and Khrys, his hurry causing him to fumble with his words

"H-huh? Oh, s-sorry ab-about that, mi-milady. I too w-was entranced and en-enthralled by your etheral beauty and so was struck dumb for a few moments...please forgive me and my friend...I humbly beseech thee...If you would be so kind, please repeat the conditions for retrieving the axe."

He spoke in a tone of reverence, keeping his eyes riveted on hers and did not dare to snap them downward towards her statuesque body since the woman had a countenance and an air about her that resembled that of royalty. As he waited for the woman to reply, he shot Khrys a look that told him to be more reverent in addressing the woman so that they could avoid provoking her. As he turned back, he noticed the small NPC icon floating above the woman's head and realized it was some sort of mini trigger that was set to activate whenever someone's axe or other such implement fell into the waters of the lake. A few seconds after he had responded to the woman, she spoke again

"Very well, young warriors...it would behoove you to pay heed to my words for I shall not repeat this a third time...now listen well...I will return your axe to you if you can recognize it from a trio of axes that I, the Lady of the Lake, shall present to you now."

With that, she presented the first of the axes, this one being a hand-axe made of solid gold. She asked him and Khrys

"Tell me, young warriors...be this the axe that you seek?"

Bhairyuu had started howling with laughter and rolling on the ground as he saw Khrys's blunder with his axe and had continued laughing till he saw the axe fall into the lake. He would have continued, but then his attention was drawn to the feminine figure who had risen up from beneath the surface of the lakewater. As she turned about to face him and Khrys, Bhairyuu was, for once in his life, struck speechless by the breathtaking beauty of the figure. His eyes wandered her voluptous form which was the fabled "hourglass figure" that was widely taken to be one of the main traits of the quinitessential woman and as he continued to take in all the details, his jaw went slack, causing his thin lips to part noticeably. The woman was dressed in a blue-colored two-piece dress, the top being a small blouse like garment that served to cover her rather ample bosom and the bottom piece being a sort of ankle length skirt that was swirled around her lower half and hanging low over her wide hips. In addition to this, she had matching metallic blue armbands from which flowed a material that looked very similar to gossamer and a headband that was also blue in color.

As the woman regarded him and Khrys, the gentle breeze blew forth from behind her, causing her mid-back length, wavy brown tresses to gently stir as it caressed them. She gave them both a gracious smile and spoke, her voice sounding like the lyrical notes coming from an angel's harp

"Welcome, young warriors to my lake...I see that you have dropped your axe in these waters...but fret not, for I shall return it to you in due course...However, you both have to pass the test I give you...and it is a test that shall reveal the innermost working of your hearts and minds...so are you ready?"

  10. Bhairyuu smirked as he saw and heard Khrys agreeing to his suggestion about the wood gathering and after finishing his once-over at the woods to their left and right, he too took out a water bottle from his inventory menu and drained it in a few gulps. After that, he took out his axe and then turned to Khrysaor, saying

"Let's start with that large tree over there to your right...that one looks like it will yield a good amount of wood, which means we won't have to prolong this wood search too far...hopefully my bad luck won't set in and throw a monkeywrench into our plans..."

With that said, he went over to the tree that he had indicated and then aimed a mighty swing at the thick trunk of that tree, cutting it halfway through and then swung over to the other side and slammed the axe into the tree trunk again with the same amount of force, causing the trunk to start to fall over. While it was still in free-fall, Bhairyuu aimed several more swings at the trunk, cutting it into smaller sections and then tapped the wood pile, hoping the returns would be decent

As he saw the results from the pop-up menu that hovered above the wood pile, Bhairyuu smirked widely and turned to Khrys calling out in an uncharacteristically enthused sounding voice

"Hey Khrys! I was right after all, check this out! Noble quality wood, bro! Try to top that!"

  11. Several minutes passed with nothing turning up in his search and so Bhairyuu was just about to give up when he felt his fingers brush against what seemed like a group of flasks. So he pushed the cabinet's sliding panel further to the left in order to be able to see the flasks. Once he did, several flasks and vials of various sizes were revealed by the firelight that now fell upon them, each one containing a different colored liquid. As he gazed upon the intricately designed containers each with their own serum inside, he was more or less mesmerized by them and reached out his hand, taking one in each. He flipped open the tops of the flasks with his thumbs and began to take light whiffs so as to not trigger any adverse reactions inadvertently. Nothing happened and so, presuming they were at least safe to drink, he began to down one of them when all of a sudden, he was tapped on his shoulder.

This of course caused him to leap a few inches into the air from his current position since he was startled by the tap he felt a few seconds ago. Then, while trying to calm his now pounding heart down, he looked about, but did not see anyone or anything, causing him to mutter

"Hmm, odd...I could have sworn I felt something or someone tap me on my shoulder...oh well.."

With that, he went back to downing the contents of the flask in his left hand. After a few minutes, he finished emptying that flask and put it on the top of the cabinet. Then he looked at the exposed parts of his body to see if there was any detectable change, but alas there was none. So, he started to down the other flask, this time a little faster just to see what would happen as his curiosity had gotten the better of him.

  12. Bhairyuu growled in exasperation as he saw Khrysaor making light of his ordeal from a few seconds ago and his right eyebrow and the right corner of his mouth started to twitch as he watched Khrys roll around on the ground laughing his head off. He was about to retort, but then Khrys had pre-empted him by suggesting they move ahead, so he scoffed and then took the lead at this point, moving ahead of Khrys with a disgruntled expression on his face. After several minutes of fighting through the thick foliage, he came across the waterfall that Khrys had been looking at earlier. However that was not all the scenery had to offer...there was a medium sized lake at the foot of the waterfall, so he looked back and called out

"Hey, Khrys! Check this out! It isnt just a waterfall, bud...there's a lake here too...no wonder the foliage is so damn thick around here...it must be the water from the lake feeding it and making it so lush...that in turn means we will probably get some good trees to cut down for the <<Wood>> quest item we need in that <<Rovian Wars>> event."

After that, he waited for Khrys to catch up with him and in the meantime, he set his disgruntled face back to normal and started looking for a nice set of trees to go lumberjack on for the wood.

  13. Bhairyuu had been exploring that same old creepy castle he had found in one of the back alleyways of the <<Town of Beginnings>> when he noticed the PM icon light up with a small red colored number 1 notation, so he had stopped and took a break to read through the message. Once he did, he noticed it was about the upcoming boss fight and so he examined it in more detail, thinking

"Hmm, well now...seems like they've found the next boss room...but should I make the troublesome effort of going all the way to the KoB headquarters to sit in on this meeting?...Hmm...I guess I should...after all, it would  be even more of a royal pain to not have experience with these sorts of meetings..."

With that, he exited the castle and then ran off to towards the teleport gate of the <<Town of Beginnings>> as quickly as his feet could carry him. Once there he spoke aloud

    "Teleport! Floor 11, Taft!!"

No sooner than he had spoken those words, Bhairyuu disappeared in a flash of bluish-white light and with a split second had reappeared at the corresponding teleport gate in the safezone of Floor 11, Taft. He set off as soon as he landed since he didn't want to waste any time. After an almost all-out sprint, Bhairyuu arrived at the KoB guild hall and after identifying himself to the guards, he headed inside as quietly as he could and took a seat at the back but at a spot where he could hear the leaders of the meeting clearly. Then, he trained all his senses onto said leaders since he wanted to take in all the details he could about the meeting...at least what was left of it anyway.

  14. As Bhairyuu looked about, he noticed a series of cabinets on each end of the room with what looked like a fireplace in the middle and wondered

"Hmm...those look intriguing... I wonder what's in those...it wouldnt hurt to check it out at least...it's not like I will be stealing anything...

With that thought in mind, he crawled up to the cabinets on the left side since those were the closest to his position at the moment and studied them, hoping to learn something new about the owner of the castle from the architecture of the cabinets. They were made of what looked like ebony wood with an intricate gold and silver inlay depicting what seemed to be a scene from an alchemist's lab from the days of yore. As he was fascinated by the artwork, Bhairyuu stopped for a few moments to admire it and then gently pulled open the panel guarding access to the innards of the cabinet since he did not want to damage anything or leave any traces of his presence there. After that, he started to sweep his hand slowly through the first cabinet with all his senses on high alert for anything that might prove to be troublesome to him.

  15. After about an hour of looking about the room, Bhairyuu managed to get the general layout of the place and so he headed further inside, examining the room and trying to glean the finer details, all the while hoping to gather some clues about the identity of the mysterious owner of the castle so that he could sate his curiosity. The room was roughly spherical in shape with the walls looking rather roughly hewn, as if they were carved directly out of the rock face that the castle was supported by from behind without any sort of polishing or attempt to make smooth rectangular walls out of it. As he examined the walls, Bhairyuu found a glistening veneer covering the walls which became apparent in those places where the firelight from the torch fell upon them unabated by any obstacle, making them appear as if they were covered with some transparent substance, but alas he could not find any such thing when he ran his hands along the walls. Perplexed by this, he sank into his own thoughts for a few moments

"Hmm, judging from the appearance of the walls of this room...perhaps the owner of this castle has not planned on showing it to anyone in his social circle...but why?"

It was then that he had looked down at the floor by sheer coincidence and noticed some rather suspicious looking stains on the floor. Intrigued by them, he knelt down and swiped the index finger of his right hand across the stains and then brough it to his nose for a whiff, muttering

"Hmm...there a very faint odor to this, so that must mean it was quite a while back that this substance fell on the floor...let's see...and it seems like it's almost dry...which reinforces my conclusion...but what in the world is this substance?..."

Bhairyuu wondered thus while looking around for any potential sources of the stain substance, but to his dismay he could readily spot anything that looked like a potential culprit, so he decded to file the stain problem away for a few minutes and got back to his feet, looking about the room curiously, deciding on his next target.

  16. Bhairyuu had started following Khrysaor as they went deeper into the forest in search of the source of the rushing water sound he had heard earlier. On the way, he had quite the time trying to dodge and duck under all those breanches that Khrysaor was unintentionally letting go at him, but somehow managed to come out of that whole ordeal more or  less unscathed except for a few scratches. At they came near to the source of the sound, Ryuu saw Khrysaor stop at the clearing and he did too so that he could rest for a few minutes before they started their search for the waterfall again. As he rested, he remarked, his breathing faintly audible due to the sudden bout of physical exertion he had engaged in

"Oh man...that sure was a tricky trail to navigate, eh Khrys? There were a few times I nearly lost my footing thanks to those branches you were pushing aside...lucky for me, my reflexes saved my hide every time, hehe."

With that, he fell silent and gazed about the clearing, looking to see if there were any trees they could gather from in order to quickly and efficiently increase their wood pile for the event quest.

  17. Bhairyuu had smiled back at @Zandra when she greeted him and then he had replied with a smile of his own while stretching lightly

"I am doing quite well, Ms. Zandra. I am just about to begin my skill training in a few more days time, so I am quite excited for that. I just hope I dont end up dying anytime soon before I have had the chance to go as far as I can. Your potions should help greatly in my survival..."

He was about to say more, but then Zandra's attention was caught by the other guests at her party, so he politely excused himself and went over to a choice spot on the beach that he had picked out earlier and then sat down, leaning back on his elbows with his long well-toned legs sprawled out a little before him. From that position, he began one of his favorite hobbies...people watching, all the while hoping he would get to see some amusing characters so that he could have fun interacting with them. Slowly but surely several minutes passed by, and since he was feeling thirsty, he decided to head up to the drinks stand to see what sort of items they had on hand.

  18. Bhairyuu listened as Khrysaor laid out his plan for how to proceed with their current event quest efforts and when he came near enough, he got up and held out the hand with Khryaor's axe in it towards him, saying

"Hmm, I couldn't have made a better plan myself, to be honest. So yeah, let's go with that strategy...Operation "Divide & Conquer" is officially a go."

Bhairyuu said with a smirk and then looked about once more to see if he could spot any better wood gathering spots. As he was looking, he heard the faint sounds of what sounded like rushing water falling over something, so he pointed in that direction, asking

"Yo Khrys...is it just me or is there the sound of rushing water coming from over in that direction? Perhaps we will have more luck there...after all, the vegetation has to be more lush and thriving there than it is here, wouldn't you say?"

  19. Bhairyuu had been waiting to see if @Opal and Morgenstern would accept his suggestion of creating snow sculptures, but to his surprise, the conversation topic completely changed and now Opal had given him a nickname "Pervert" and then she had proceeded to send him and @Morgenstern a half loss duel challenge, thus totally catching him off-guard. To make matters worse, he noticed Morgenstern looking at him and so he gave him a nervous, apologetic smile since the lookon the man's face told him that he was probably bummed out about having a low-level partner. He then unsheathed his new sword, the <<Embodiment of Apophis>> and with his free left hand, he pressed the "Accept" button, thus agreeing to Opal's challenge. After that, he turned to Opal and spoke with a smirk

"Wow, so now I have a nickname, eh? Well, I guess I should introduce myself to you...My name is Bhairyuu, but you can call me Ryuu if you prefer the short version, Opal."

Then, Bhairyuu turned to Morgenstern and addressed him with that same nervous grin from before

"Sorry in advance for any problems I cause to you by being such a low-levelled player. I will do my best to not get in the way, atleast."

  20. Bhairyuu smirked as Khrysaor started showing off his gathering skills as well and when he came within earshot, Bhairyuu spoke, with some chuckles in between

"A <<Rare>> bundle on a natural roll, eh? Now who's the one showing off, eh Khrys? If I recall, you were ribbing me for doing that just now a few minutes ago. Still, it's impressive...I will give you that much."

After that, he gave Khrys one of the axes while saying

"Here's your axe then...now...where do you think we should gather next? Also, should we do it as a team or have each one of us focus on gathering whatever quest item we are best suited for? I mean, since I dont have any <<Skills>> down yet, I think it would be safer for me to gather from the environment than risk fighting mobs and such, right?"

He suggested and then looked about the forest, trying to spot potential wood gathering spots which he could take advantage of to get good wood at a decently good rate while he waited for Khrys to give his opinion on their further course of action.

  21. Bhairyuu had gotten up to his feet and had listened as Opal informed them all about her true identity as a member of the Laughing Coffin guild, but had tactfully kept his face blank of emotion so as to not arouse any unnecessarily troublesome situations for himself. However, he was satisfied since the strange unease and inexplicable chill which he had felt when he was in such close proximity to Opal earlier had finally been explained in full. So, he decided to gloss over her identity and instead joined in, suggesting some other fun things to do, all the while wearing a polite smile on his thin lips

"Hmm...those really sound like fun, Jonathan...How about adding making snow sculptures to the mix for some more potential excitement?"

After that, he fell silent, wondering what Jonathan and Opal would say to his suggestion, all the while hoping that they both as well as the rest of the people would jump onboard so that they could all have even more fun together.

Bhairyuu sighed and then stretched and twisted from side to side, trying to iron out the kinks in his body from having sat so long at the dining table not too long ago when he had been enjoying some of the delicious food set on it. He then set foot into the room, muttering

"It sure is dark...but hey...nothing ventured, nothing gained, right?...So here I go...I just hope there's nothing too troublesome waiting for me..."

For a split second after he had entered the room, it stayed dark, dank, and dreary, but then a minute or so later, the whole room was aglow with the soft flickering firelight from the torch held in the hands of a sinister statue of what looked like a demon or perhaps a vampire located next to the entryway to the room. Once his eyes had adjusted to the flickering firelight, Bhairyuu started cast a series of sweeping gazes about the room, trying to take in all the details he could, his jade green eyes on high alert for anything that looked ominous or problematic to him.

  23. Bhairyuu had been enjoying the sweet view above while trying to gathering snow for his own <<Snow Balls>> when a stray <<Snow Ball>> thrown by @Morgenstern out of the ones he threw at @Opal ended up hitting him, causing him to laugh despite his awkward situation as he was now truly having fun. Not wanting to let Morgenstern off the hook, Bhairyuu formed a few <<Snow Balls>> and hurled a couple up at Opal, aiming for her heaving, ample bosom and the rest were hurled at Morgenstern in an attempt to hit him. After that, Bhairyuu brought his arms back down onto the soft snow and laid there, enjoying feel of the cool snow against his body contrasting against the warmth of his own body gained from the exertion he had put in just now. He looked up at Opal, saying

"As much fun as this is, Opal...I dont think we want to give anyone more funny ideas, so whenever you ready, please feel free to let me up onto my feet again...unless of course you dont mind staying like this..."

With that, he flashed a teasing smirk at Opal which was calibrated to make it look like he would be up to no good in a few more minutes and waited to see what she and Morgenstern would do in response.

  24. Bhairyuu smirked at Khrysaor and instead of returning one of the axes, he put on yet another show of theatrics all in order to cut the sections of the tree that were now just the right distance from the ground. So he held both axes at his right hip as he dashed toward the three sections of the cut tree and then once in range, he muttered

    "Niitoryu Nigiri: Hirameki!"
