It was, perhaps, the first time that Warren had heard Kyra laugh. It set him a bit more at ease. Given how they’d come into one another’s orbit and how everything had proceeded since then, he truly appreciated that she felt at ease. He mirrored her energy, kicking back in his chair and propping his feet up on the corner of his desk. The tone could not have been more different. From controlled anger to terror-struck panic to this. A true spectrum of emotions. He let out an amused chuckle at her joke, shaking his head lightly. “That’s an amusing image,” he said, his voice carrying just a

Warren nodded. That was certainly a novelty. A boss reviving itself mid-combat. But looking at its health now and with Sin still yet to make a move, he didn’t find himself overly concerned. Though he did expect an explosion once the bird revived itself. Something cinematic and cool, probably. Or, at least, Cardinal’s approximation of cool. Either way, it wouldn’t matter. This would end much the same way that it usually did. With the boss dead and the team with not a scratch on them. He rushed in, <<Save the Queen>> cutting a nasty gash into the bird’s flank. It was the na

Visionary filed in and Warren was the second to try his luck. Like Oscar, he leaped into the fight. And, like Oscar, he was completely taken by surprise when his stats drained and his attack weakened. Missing the wasp by a hair, his leaping strike’s trajectory brought him back towards the ground. He exhaled forcefully, looking to Oscar and then to the crowd. “Wow, we suck,” Warren remarked. Oscar nodded. “I think it’s the audience.” Warren agreed, dismissing his weapon and lighting a smoke produced from his front pocket. He took a long drag, shaking his head. He couldn’t believe

Her ‘Guardian Angel.’ Warren was that, wasn’t he? His face felt hot. The room did too. His fingers twitched as he bit back the urge to vent his collar. He wasn’t one for nicknames. But the way she said it, smooth as silk and without one iota of hesitance, Warren had no choice but to accept it. He liked the way it sounded. What gave him pause was the thought that came after. That he wouldn’t like it so much if anyone else said it. “I play my cards close to my chest,” Warren replied. Whatever pandemonium raged within him, his even tone wouldn’t have belied it. But there was a small tick in

Bright lights with a side of passion / The first verse left his lips, smooth as silk. He felt the crowd turn, silent acknowledgement from lovers and shadowed denizens. An ocean of crimson starlight, the deep red glinting as heads swiveled towards him. It shouldn’t have, but it took Warren by surprise. The trap laid snapped closed. One shouldn’t be surprised that they enraptured the crowd when they set out to do just that. But he was unaccustomed to all the eyes upon him. It was almost enough to make him falter. The guitar in his hands suddenly felt so impossibly heavy. Night life, w

That was a lie and she knew it. A reliable friend with benefits was like a unicorn. Especially one that was able to avoid catching feels and didn’t seem to be bothered being used like a walking - It didn’t matter. What did matter was that her friends were uncomfortable with her jokes. More than the ribbing, that bothered her more than anything. So she would prove them wrong. Not out of pettiness but out of respect. She could leave the disrespect to Oscar - in private. Warren killed the boss. The team collected the loot. Their little outing hadn’t lasted nearly as long as she tho

Much like the Midnight Ripper, the Large Ripper was standing on death’s door. But unlike the Midnight Ripper, they didn’t have the benefit of Haste to be able to lock the fight down quite so quickly as they would have liked. Ultimately, the Dungeon Boss didn’t amount to much more than a very durable punching bag. But maybe that was because Lysette had stunned it. Hard to evade attacks when you got stars in your eyes. Warren’s blade cut deep, <<Save the Queen>> biting through flesh and armor and carving through it like it was made of tissue paper. It teetered on the brink. Well

“Show off,” Warren said as he struck the Ripper with a powerful thrust. The force of the blow blasted the creature back far enough that he had enough breathing room to turn his attention back to Oscar. “You just can’t help yourself, can you?” Oscar shrugged, flashing Warren a cheeky grin. “Well when you got it like that.” “Right,” Warren said, flipping <<Save the Queen>> up to rest against his shoulder. “Gotta show us all up, right?” “Nah,” Oscar replied. “Just having a little fun. It’s the only bit to be had right now. The Field Boss was disappointing and I’m not re

Well Abellio and Lysette were certainly popping off. It was always a treat to see what new ways they would figure out how to work in tandem together. He wondered if they planned it out, whether it was choreographed. The way they moved, it almost seemed like it had to be. But- The two of them resonated on such a fundamental level that it really wouldn’t surprise him if their feats of strength were completely spur of the moment. Warren was not one to be outdone. It became clear to him that he would not enjoy the benefit of seeing what his new <<Warding>> Enhancement w

When the Quest Accept screen popped up dead center of his vision, Warren couldn’t deny that he was interested. He had recently worked with Sin on some equipment - so he was rather excited to take it out to play. His old kit hadn’t been bad, but this put that to shame. He was called to Floor 28, so that’s where he went. The group was already there, chowing down on buffs. He joined them. “So,” Warren said, after swallowing a particularly large egg and washing it down with an energy drink. “What’s the target?” “Midnight Ripper,” Sin replied. “Apparently,.it was just found. And also

Warren, originally, had zero intent on joining Oscar’s soiree. Helping Abellio pick out his clothes was about as far as he’d wanted to go. He didn’t have anyone to go with anyway. And if he showed up stag to Oscar’s party, the man would never let Warren hear the end of it. It wasn’t as if Warren were setting out to be single, but he just didn’t see the point. Love on the razor’s edge, between people worlds apart with no way to rekindle the flame once they returned home? It just didn’t seem appealing. Why waste time on tragedy. But the more he thought about it, he realized that the pa

It was times like these that reminded Warren why he stuck around with these idiots. Small little moments of comfort. It reminded him of his old job, his old buddies. Back before it all went to shit and he was shipped home. It was nice. He really didn’t have any other way to describe it. Simple and heart warming. It had, in the past, taken a lot to ignite his passions. To get him focused on something and to get him to put something ahead of his own wants and desires. And striking out at the dragon, as the fight wound down to an end, he figured that was Oscar’s master plan. Get him out in t -

“Says the literal stripper,” Lysette said with a giggle. “I can’t hold a candle.” Sin turned her attention back to Lysette. She stuck out her tongue and gave the singer a wink. “Oh shut up babe. You’re a bombshell-” Sin cut her eyes towards Abellio. “I hope he knows how lucky he is.” “Oh I do. Trust me,” Abellio said. “If we’re done flirting,” Warren said, calmly walking up to the dragon. “Look alive.” Despite the stun, the dragon was not to be messed with. Warren managed to land a single attack. But only a single attack. Before he could wind up to hit it again, the dragon -

Warren had been flitting back and forth from the cellar to the wall of drinks that lined the bar. He took meticulous notes. What needed to be replenished - what he would need to bring in more of. Much to his chagrin, the sparkling blackberry had been their best seller. He had rather hoped there would at least be one bottle left to sip on while he worked. Such was life. This was the most time-consuming part. Figuring out the what. The crafting never took long at all. He had made his list, quantities and items scribbled hastily in a shorthand that only he understood. “Alright Sin, I’ve
