"Of course I do," Warren said as she finished speaking. He paused, Sammie had returned to place their order in front of them. Perhaps whatever charge was in the air was infectious. It certainly put the lie to Warren's 'old friend' excuse. There was an obvious an palpable lack of laughter and joy that accompanied two friends. Only blank faces and frowns, if they were particularly unfortunate. She made a quick get-away. Whatever it was, she clearly didn't want to be apart of it. Warren took a sip of his coffee before continuing, the warmth blooming from his chest as it passed down his throat at

Warren winced as she said the word. Stalker. As if he hadn’t been grappling with the same accusation these past fifty-eight days. He shuddered at the accusation, his body rejecting it down to his very bones. “I much prefer security,” he said. “Closer to the truth, really. Don’t much like to be lumped in with that dude.” He gestured vaguely down the alley, pointing with the lit end of his cigarette. Still, his shoulders slumped forward. It wasn’t exactly something he could deny now. Not that he would have, had the cat been let out of the bag under better circumstances. “But fair enough. We

"It's always best to be cautious," Warren agreed. "No matter how low level the bosses are." You really only had one shot when it came to Quests and fights in this game. A failure to adequately prepare would mean a game over you couldn't walk yourself back from. So Warren could only respect the pragmatism. Truth be told, he wasn't exactly one to strike out and brave the dangers of the game on his own if he could avoid it. Even if he had out-scaled most things on Floor 1. And the journey to the cave hadn't been long. Neither had the search for the McGuffin they were meant to find. It was al

The good doctor was certainly taking her sweet time. She normally left more or less around the same time every day, after her afternoon appointments were wrapped up. Today, however, Warren was left waiting hours. Well into the evening, even past the cafe’s closing time. It would be odd, he realized, if he were sitting in front of a shop with darkened windows in the middle of a storm once she’d finally decided to leave the office. Good thing there was another restaurant nearby, this time with umbrellas to keep him dry. As the hours wore on, Warren decided he would treat himself to di

Ulterior motives. Oscar had them, Warren was just a cog in the machine. At least, now, the man was being more direct about what he needed. Something about the incident with the Orphanage changed the man. Everyone had heard about it. No one talked about it. They didn't talk about how Oscar seemed to be just a bit too cheerful after the fact. Smug, even. Like he'd won something. Like he always knew more than he was willing to tell anyone. Except, he'd always been like that. At least as long as Warren had known him. One does not simply give for free. Everything had a price. No one knew

It was something of an auspicious occasion for Warren to even leave his shop on Floor 7. More of a rarity, indeed, that he would be hanging around the first floor. But of course, the big man called and Warren listened. Sometimes. Oscar usually had respect enough to come fetch him. There had been a disparity between the quality of beverages that Oscar could made and those that Warren could. Something about the innate difference between mixing and actually making compounds. He didn't know. He just worked here. After dropping off a crate of beverages at Oscar's shop, Warren meandered his way

"Good day, Oscar. I'm Yue Hua, player name Pollux, from the Trackers Alliance. If you need any help running things, I'd be happy to offer a hand!" The voice came from behind him, piercing the growing cacophony. He slowly turned around, taking a long drag off of his smoke as he did. First mistake. Warren had expected women in swimsuits. He knew of Oscar's reputation after all. One would think that the man would not mix his daytime friends with his nighttime conquests, but knowing Oscar he would be oblivious to any potential awkward scenes. His little black book would likely constitute a go

Around the time Mari arrived, Warren came over the hill. He rode a wagon pulled by a donkey - Oscar's taco wagon to be precise. Only he'd taken it out back to repurpose it. A Cook could prepare food, certainly, but it would take an Alchemist to hit just the right notes when it came to beverages. Rather than grills and containers laden with taco filling, he'd turned the wagon into a massive ice chest filled with beverages of many varieties. Warren parked at one of the few empty spots along the beach and dismounted. As he walked towards the pair, he lit a cigarette. Taking a slow drag, he entere

"OH MY GOD!" Oscar's bellowing voice could be heard across the beach as he took the item that the crab had dropped. He punched the air, bounding off of his feet as the sounds of his jubilation carried far and wide. "I FUCKING KNEW IT! AND THERE'S MULTIPLE PORTIONS!" Oscar let out a heavy sigh, a smile stretching from ear to ear. "This is the best day ever." Warren smiled, stepping up to join the group. "Well that was certainly an interesting fight. Looks like Oscar got what he wanted. Which means I get what I wanted. And just in case," he said. Warren opened his menu and in a f

"Oh you are so going to owe me money after this," Warren said, watching Abellio and Lysette exchange words on the other side of the crab. It was all in his face, his eyes. The way he suddenly grabbed her by the shoulders, spoke without yelling. "They might not even make it two weeks." Warren popped another cigarette into his mouth and lit it, taking a long drag before smirking at Oscar. "Why are you smoking that much man?" Oscar's voice rose a pitch. His face contorted in confusion and irritation. "Shit ain't even that stressful." "Shit dude, I might upgrade to Marlboros after all th

Warren was still holding up the back line. Though he was more effective now, he didn't like being so far detached from the thick of the fighting. Though, his placement did provide him with a wonderful vantage point. He got to see everyone in action, take his mental notes and all that. And he got to see that sweet little meet cute between Abellio and Lysette. Before he could formulate a thought about it, Oscar had dropped back to the rear line. He landed lightly, kicking up a small cloud of sand as his feet touched the ground. And Warren couldn't help himself. "So uh," he began quietly. "Y

Leave it to the god damn morale-boosting expert to pull Abellio out of his funk. Warren watched as Lysette half-dragged Abellio into the fight. And even from the distance he was at, he could see the moment when Abellio started smiling again. God, Warren loved it when a plan came together. He wasn't good with in-the-moment feelings. But, when he was given the opportunity to think about it - when he was given prep time - he could more or less feel his way through it. Keeping people locked into the fight was his literal fucking profession, after all. But it was time to get stuck in. He

Oscar was the first to arrive. The man was certainly punctual. And fast. It only took a couple minutes for the man to meet Warren at the location. Warren threw up a quick wave, greeting the man as he arrived. With Oscar the only one here, he could explain himself a little more thoroughly. "Didn't like how things ended last time," he said simply before taking a long drag from his cigarette. "Thought I might see if we could mend some fences. For what it's worth, I'm sorry I jumped down your throat." Oscar let out a heavy sigh, dismissing Warren's apology with a wave of his hand. "No, n

Hi hello *yoinks* 2k Col to Macradizzle -
Their last outing had not ended well at all. Abellio had been going through something, Lysette was pissed that Abellio wasn't being honest with his intentions, and Oscar was being as frustratingly inscrutable as ever. He was certain the man had some idea what he was doing but after that last showing, one couldn't blame Warren for remaining unconvinced. Finding his way into the beta tester interface for the fancy pants new skills, he decided that the four of them could use some good old-fashioned team building. They weren't a team, but in his experience coming together for a common goal helped

"Oh, I get it," Warren said. He didn't elaborate further. Didn't really need to. Everyone standing in the arena understood what was going on. Warren didn't have the details, but he'd been in enough fights to be able to tell the difference between personal and business. And this was definitely personal. There was a story there, but Warren didn't care to know it. Of course, it seemed like Lysette had read his mind. "Abellio got tricked at level one," she said. Warren wanted to tell her that he didn't need to hear it, but she was probably going to ignore him and tell him anyway. "Was to -

Well that was certainly something. Abellio was doing a whole gymnastics routine and Oscar - apparently - had God on speed dial. Even the girl had something to bring to the table. Meanwhile, Warren was sitting in the back chain smoking. He had to remind himself that Oscar had invited him. And the man had to have known that Warren was not even remotely high enough level to make himself useful at a time like this. So no one could bitch if Warren stood back and sat pretty. Still, it was pretty emasculating to know that Lysette - the only one close to him in level - had the presence -

Warren couldn't really say as he'd ever seen Oscar fight. And seeing it now, he had to admit it was pretty damn impressive. Warren hadn't been a slouch in a scrap, but those two guys made him look positively lackluster in comparison. The speed alone was blinding. But the way Oscar intervened so casually and responded so quickly to the fight going sideways for Abellio was a thing of beauty. And of the four of them, Warren was the only one who had ever seen any real action. Maybe. One didn't just develop Oscar's calm in the face of the shit overnight. If you'd been through the shi -

Warren’s shop on Floor 7 was meticulously kept. It was a force of habit. When you generally worked with explosives, it was a necessity to keep certain chemicals away from one another. The living quarters off to the side were similarly kept. A total bachelor pad. Just a bed, a table, and one chair. Warren didn’t have people over for dinner and he preferred it that way. He was busy tinkering with beakers containing different colored liquids when he heard the door to his shop open with a loud chime. That also never happened. Turning away from his work, he saw a trio of people standing in his -
