[PP-F13] The Falling of Tagas

Recommended Posts

Spotting an easy opening and quickly following up behind Macradon as was the plan, Eth darts forwards, bringing his black jagged greatsword around in a wide arc. Activating a basic AoE sword skill to finish the mobs off, he slashes their midriffs as his guildmate finishes his attack. With a flash of light, the bearded man lands the final blow on the two monsters causing them to explode into polygons and fly off in every direction before blinking out of existence.

With efficiency and open communication from all sides, the party was able to deal enough damage to the Mage Knights without expending much of their energy to take them down. But in the result, Tagas was now free from his torture. Chains that once bound him down became unshackled from his arms and legs, his eyes glowing a crimson aura as he looked around the room, "Save...me...Save...me!" he uttered and then roared out, agonizing pain filling his mind as he placed both hands upon his head shaking it left and right attempting to dishelve the horrible pain. Opal watched on as the NPC boss fought with itself before striking a look at the team, "Be prepared to die!" The corrupting angel roared, holding aloft its ancient weapon, the blade coming down and forcing its way through the party as to split them in half. Mack had stood tall like a mighty knight, with his ax, Invictus, he pushed the blade that came down upon his comrades and struck it back in Tagas' direction almost causing the massive angel to fall over on itself. He roared once more bellowing out a horrendous cry, his eyes bloodshot and turning darker.

"It would be wise for you all to start buffing yourself now while his attention is drawn on Mack. We don't have long before he goes full corrupt, so use this time wisely!" Opal opened her inventory and moved towards the giant behemoth. Upon his armor, the woman smashed a vial upon him upgrading his armor class by another thirty-six points.

OOC: Next turn, while we continue to wait, I'm going to RP moving back far enough to be able to get my Charge Bonus on the opening attack.

With a few moments to wait until Tagas would attack when he was fully corrupted, Mack took a seat on the floor of the Cathedral to settle in and wait. He had already buffed his damage output and he didn't have any other items in his own inventory that would prove all that useful in the upcoming fight. When he felt a hand smash something over his armor. He looked around and spotted Opal. "Is this some kind of revenge, Vice Commander Rainbow Brite," Mack asked dryly, one hand still wrapped securely around the haft of his two-handed bearded axe, Invictus. "I must say, your appearance does at least match your name now," Mack continued with the smallest of smirks in the direction of the woman that had, at one time, been his subordinate and whom he now followed. It was ironic how things could change. Little Opal had grown up.

Macradon watched as Ethereal would take care of the mage knights just after Macradon using his sword art. Macradon didn't have anything else to buff himself with, that was when he remembered he actually had something in his inventory. He would take out a small vial with a red, almost burning, liquid. He would splash it onto his sword. The red firing liquid would scatter itself all over the blade of Macradon's sword. The red glow of his sword would show up and the indication of the glow was already understood by Macradon. His sword, now with a burning feature, would be able to do massive DOT damage with his bleed and now a burn effect. Macradon would look around to see if he had anything else he wanted to use before, but it didn't seem like so. "I'm all decked out" he would shout out to the others, telling them that he was ready. He would begin to take a few steps back, trying to get into a range where he would be able to engage the corrupted angel with a charge.

Ethereal smiled as he turned back to the group, having dealt the finishing blow to the two mobs. Stepping over beside Mack, the swordsman brandishing his jagged black blade in the direction they expected Tagas to appear from. Eth began grinning like he was having the time of his life, eyes gleaming with barely contained eagerness and almost bloodlust. As Mack and Macradon made their way back slightly to access their Charge skill, the Fireheart held his ground gazing straight at where the enemy would finally be unchained and come roaring towards them. 'I've been waiting this for a while.' he thinks to himself gleefully, to which the reply came back from his other side 'We both have. Let's see what we can do. *chuckles*'.

OOC: Do we need to set up a new roster with Eth's Alter Ego? Another seat at the table? XP

Tagas grunted and growled, his chains whipping about his arms from left to right. He brandished his weapon, a fierce look in his eyes as he stood there looking at the party as if to intimidate them with pure evil and hatred. Opal stood, her nerves were like steel. They could take on his corrupted form no problem. Every person here was an abled Knight of the Blood Oath and they would not go down so easily by mere growling and the shuffling of his irons chains. However, as his intimidation seem so lack luster...the room within seemed to grow heavy and dense as the air became thin. A purple like miasma started to seep through the walls and the ground. The Fallen Angel seemed more docile now as if it was just standing there. Little by little however, the flesh that was borne of purity started to slowly rot and flake away revealing a hell borne creation. Flames enveloped him as he continued to stand, his armor blackened to dark coal and his eyes stirred with a sea of crimson and cimmerian. The twisted Targas was slowly becoming more and more corrupt. Eventually, his aggressive behavior subsided all together and he started to laugh, the deep rumbling of his voices caused the walls to shake and then stop.

"We need to prepare now, even more so. I can feel that change in him...that laugh, he is almost fully corrupt. Prepare yourselves for the worst. Mack, another potion on you..." Opal came by and doused his armor with another silver vial, the glistening liquid fell over his coating his armor to negate the full head on attack that would come first. They would need to stay alive, and Mack was their backbone in this.

"Snack time," Mack declared, clapping his hands together as the flesh began to rot off of Tagas. "You think his decaying flesh is a unique food item? Should we save some of it for Abalasster," the hulking behemoth asked in a mock serious tone as he pulled up his inventory and extracted a food item he had purchased ages ago from Abalasster. The clearly insect based piece of food quickly disappeared into Mack's mouth. "Taste's like chicken... lies. This tastes like lies," the Crimson Blade leader said, trying not to gag on the piece of praying mantis. Still, the item carried with it a slight accuracy bonus, so it was worth adding to the hefty stack of bonuses he was already toting around.

"I need to be up on the hate table, do not attack until I'm at least plus two on Tagas, unless I land an opening round crit," Mack said, beginning to issue orders as Opal slammed another potion onto his back. "I don't have howl or fighting spirit, so it takes a bit longer. Just stay clear, you'll know what to do when the time comes."

Macradon would abide his team leader by not attacking the big and dangerous Tagas before Mack had enough hate for the others to attack safely. Macradon would look around if he had anything to add to himself, but there didn't seem to be anything that he needed at all. Macradon would also await his energy to get up to par of what he wanted it to be so he would be able to throw out two of his strongest sword arts. Even though the two handed straight sword had the biggest AOE, their max single target attack would not come close enough to the high single target weapons like the dagger or the rapier.

Ethereal barely listens to Mack, his blood rushing in anticipation of the battle that was so imminent. The words manage to penetrate through the growing lust for conflict. Gritting his teeth in a half-grin, the Fireheart holds his ground maintaining the defensive position he had taken up before the orders were issued. As he glared down the fallen angel, Eth notices one of the spirits that occasionally came to him. A small girl, stood beside Tagas gazing up at the monster in wonder - the smile slips slightly from the swordman's face until he realised exactly what he was looking at. 'It's just an AI. An NPC. It's not real.' the voice in his head says shakily, with the reply coming a second later. 'Would you save the girl even if she was "real"? I know you wouldn't.' which was promptly ignored.

As the corruption fully took hold of Tagas and completely transformed the now silent and skeletal angel Mack took off across the room, activating his charge ability for the extra damage boost it would grant him in his opening attack on the angel. Drawing Invictus back, Mack felt his most powerful vanilla sword art, Dynamic Violence, activate as he sprang into the air. Tagas was faster on the draw, however, and the fallen angel's sword darted out as the tip of the blade slammed into Pertinax before sliding off to one side and past Mack due to the effect of the safeguard potion that Opal had applied to his armor moments before.

Tagas was not so lucky.

Invictus whipped through the air and slammed into the angel's left side while Mack was still in the air. As the axe man hit the ground his hands had already reversed direction to blast the fallen angel in the right side with another side-swiping attack. Next, Mack drew the weapon up over his head and tomahawked it into Tagas' chest before kicking himself backward off of the ground and sweeping the bearded axe around in front of his body to generate a shock wave of force that staggered the angel. As he landed again, Mack glanced at Tagas' health pool and realized he'd landed a critical hit. There was no way he should have been able to do that amount of damage without a critical.

"CRIT! I'M PLUS TWO ON THE HATE TABLE, ATTACK!"

The Blades were roused and back on there feet. The decaying Angel finally took form as a fully corrupted angel. Opal's eyes were blank with fright, such an awesome power was pouring out of it like a miasma. This Boss had incredible power, and high defense. She shudered at the thought of losing a guild member to this thing. But her nerves were steeled. Mack, the Crimson Blades Leader and 3rd in Command of the Strike Unit went in like it was nothing. Full of confidence, he swung his axe stacked with his damage pot and the undeniable power of his weapon came crashing down upon the Corrupt Tagas. It was as if a show of two titans duking it out in front of her. The heavy and pulverizing smashes echoed in the room, the loud banging of metal and roars of pain ensuing from all over.

Then there was a strike to her guildmate, Opal would have nearly doubled over in pain from the heart if it had not been for the Safeguard potion she used on Mack earlier, he was safe. But for how long would her party be so? They had to take this thing down and quickly, but most importantly, they had to take away it's feet, it's speed and it's ability to attack. Masamune X hungered for such a feat, the odachi crying out a pulsating silver aura from the blade down as she locked eyes on the Fallen Angel. Her teeth grit, white knuckles shown through the grip of her hilt and then altogether, slashed outwards with a singular forceful strike as fast as light. That is all there was to the attack, to the naked eye all you could see was a flash and a large perfectly centered orange streak across the Angel's front.

Opal took a step back and watched it succumb to the stun effect of her sword art, her part was over, now the others had to follow through, "Doesn't look so scary...when its stunned like that."

They all began to engage upon the combat, trying to take down the big bad Tagas. Macradon would follow through with his charge as he would gain enough speed as he rushed forward. Though unluckily for him, some debris from the cathedral was scattered around the floor, making Macradon trip over it. He would not falter and fall to the ground, but would compromise his assault and do a tumble, his attack would not be landing soon, so tumbling over to the back of the big Tagas seemed like a good idea for now. Macradon had his sword ready, hoping to take down Tagas with the help of the others. He was already low in health from Mack's assault, as well as Opal's stun. The big Tagas would soon be gone.

Ethereal grimaced, sword clattering a little as it rested in his gauntleted hands. The Knight had battled worse foes but as it stood and no matter how much he hated to admit it he needed to Grandmaster his Two-Handed skill if he was going to be of best use in future fights like this. Bringing his black blade up in a long sweeping arc, Eth directs the blow to one of Tagas' sides. The cutting edge contacts, ripping a portion of flesh from the monster's side with ease.

Deciding on the spot that the best possible course of action, for the moment while Tagas was stunned, was to renew his energy resources Mack pulled up his at ready inventory and produced a fish. A raw fish. Which he proceeded to devour on the spot. He knew he was going to have to be the heavy hitter in the fight and that meant that he would need to burn through any energy items that he had when there was a chance to do so safely while Tagas was prevented from attacking. Apparently, the fallen angel had much the same idea as Tagas closed his eyes and promptly mended thirty points of health, basically negating Ethereal's attack.

"Continue to focus on stunning attacks and, while Tagas is stunned hit him as hard as you can," Mack snapped, barking orders to the rest of the team. While, nominally, their beglittered leader was Opal, Mack was quite well aware that when it came to tactics his real world service in the Army meant he was probably ahead of most of the other players as a tactician. "Opal, use a stunner again. Macradon and Ethereal, if Rainbow Brite misses then use stunners otherwise go maximum effort!"

"Can't stun the same target twice in a row till the cooldown on the stun is down. We need to raw it out..." Opal flipped her odachi in one hand and then the other as she prepared her blitz. She couldn't stun it again, but she could hurt it pretty bad none the less. With ivory and silver painting her blade with a pulsating light, the female drove head first into the frey of the Fully Corrupt Tagas. The katana blade crashed through the high defense of this decrepit angel as she pulverized with <San Ge> an art that was literally to fast to see. Blinding light and a blur of silver could be traced as her quick sweeping arms took the stunned Tagas down another notch. A few more hits like this and they'll be home before dinner.

Macradon saw the chance to get Tagas down, if not taking him down, wither him a lot. Macradon would prepare his sword art, but first he had to take the big corrupted angel's attention. Macradon would yell out "Hey, look what I can do!" and would use his <Disguise> skill to transform himself into Tagas. With this, Macradon would get the upper hand over Tagas, confusing the big angel and helping Macradon get a successful hit in. With the disguise skill, Tagas will have a disadvantage when trying to attack again.

Watching Tagas shrug off his blow with relative ease fires Eth up to his highest levels of "Oh you are so dead! You think I'm weak, eh?!" Jumping back towards the fallen angel he brings his greatsword over his head in a crushing overhead blow, smacking Tagas directly in his left collarbone. While it did just the same damage as before Eth felt much better having managed to hit the thing twice in succession and do at lease some damage to it.

OOC: Ethereal and Macradon, you guys both owe posts in here. Before the thread can be locked after we kill Tagas... because clearly that is happening now, probably in the current round of posting and certainly the next time I land a hit, those edits will have to be made since the thread will be invalidated without them. Not harping on you guys, just reminding. ;)

Tagas The Corrupted: 90/650 || Dmg: 155 || Mit: 65

With a silent snap of his skeletal head, Tagas freed himself from the disgraced of having been stunned. Raising his eyes which flashed with hateful emerald green flames the fallen angel beat his wings and rose into the air, locking his focus onto the ginger-headed axe man that had been the first in the group to hit him, Tagas raised a massive broadsword in his right hand before tucking his wings and diving towards Mack with the clear intent of impaling the leader of the group.

Knowing, as he did, that his ability to withstand the attack was far greater than Opal's and that they were both equal on the hate bar since he had scored a critical hit but she had hit the boss twice, Mack was disinclined to do anything that might cause Tagas to change targets. Planting the butt cap of Invictus on the stone floor of the Cathedral, Mack set himself to take the attack from the beast. He trusted that his stats were good enough to absorb the blow with minimal damage. As the blade was slammed into his armored chest Mack glanced down and then shrugged, noting that his regeneration had also activated which meant that even as Tagas was ripping the sword free Mack's health bar was already returning to a completely full state.

"You done," the ginger sentinel asked, then he spat in Tagas' face.

Mack had taken the direct hit from the massive demonblade of a longsword as the winged Tagas came down to drop him where he stood. Little did the fallen angel know that Mack was beefed up to the max with his defense. No matter how much it tried, it could not break or scratch the shielding of the player before it retreated before the others. The Boss was clearly exhausted at this point, leaning on its goliath sword. Opal did not wait for it to recover after its last attack. Sweeping her blade to the side, "I got this..." the illuminating silver of her blade shot out like a prism as she ran for the Boss and leapt into the air. <<San Ge>> once more activating as she swept her blade furiously over and over again against the dieing Tagas. Oranges treaks appeared over its putrid flesh, his body hanging by a thread at the moment, until she brought up her blade over her head, "Rest in peace, Tagas..." Jumping upwards and coming down like a comet, she chopped down as the blade split through the armored skull of the angel and down through the body until it pixelated out of sight.

Opal stood from her kneeling position, took a deep breath inward and turned around flicking the ebony hair off her shoulders carelessly as the Angel was now decimated. Flicking it to the right to remove the impurities from her blade, the woman sheathed the saya, "So...who could go for a drink?"

As she had said that, she received the pop up notification of the event quest that they had succeeded and defeated the Corrupted Tagas. With her dainty finger, the woman pressed the 'O' on her menu to accept the rewards, one step closer to achieving her goal.

"I could always go for a good dark stout beer Vice Commander Pinkie Pie," Mack rumbled, just in time for the glittering effect of the potion to wear off on Opal as he sheathed Invictus before tapping a finger in the air in front of him to acknowledge the experience point rewards that had been gained from slaying Tagas. Lacing his fingers together, the giant brute cracked all of his knuckles and then moved over to where Opal had reduced Tagas to free floating pixels.

Pawing through the loot, he toss a crafting material back to Opal since she had killed the beast. "Rainbow Dash, that's yours."

Next Mack sorted through the small stack of weapons. "Let's see, a pair of two-handed straight swords of the Fallen," Mack tossed each of the swords to Macradon and Ethereal. "Katana of the Fallen," Mack rumbled, tossing the weapon to Opal. "And my axe." He tapped the weapon and it disappeared into his inventory.

"Four Potions of Fallen Strength," Mack continued, lobbing a potion in the direction of everyone before storing his. "And, the real prize... four Banners of Command." Mack tapped and stored his banner and passed the other three around. "Now, about that drink..."
