Drakath 0 Posted February 29, 2016 #1 Share Posted February 29, 2016 (edited) I've been debating on whether or not to use a shield and along the way, a few questions have arisen. (That's at least how it started) 1. Do shields do anything without enhancements? 2. Without Block or enhancements, is a shield essentially useless? 3. Can you swap/remove equipment during combat? If you can, will doing so take up a turn? Edited March 2, 2016 by Drakath
Baldur 0 Posted February 29, 2016 #2 Share Posted February 29, 2016 1.Yes. They let you use the block skill 2. Anything that doesn't use skills or enhancements is useless. 3. It takes a post action to switch.
Ethereal 0 Posted February 29, 2016 #3 Share Posted February 29, 2016 (edited) Before you choose I'll just say that max shield skill gives you 50 extra mitigation on top of whatever your armor has. Two handed weapon users therefore cannot get the max mitigation but tend to be better at AoE than one handed weapon users. Edited February 29, 2016 by Ethereal

That's gotta be a chance since I left ~ year ago. Used to be that caps were character wide, not item wide. So even if you had 2 pieces of armor, you couldn't have more than +3 MIT on your character. But then, block and parry have now also changed. If you get both, you basically don't take any damage :P
Macradon 0 Posted February 29, 2016 #6 Share Posted February 29, 2016 So, the reason to take a shield over a two handed sword is for tanking.
Baldur 0 Posted February 29, 2016 #7 Share Posted February 29, 2016 On the flip side, the only reason to take two hand sword is for that sweet, sweet style.
Drakath 0 Posted March 1, 2016 Author #8 Share Posted March 1, 2016 Thanks, good to know (Going off topic here but is RP time the same as Irl time [1:00am 5/24/15 Rp = 1:00am 5/24/15 Irl]? Or do they go by at different speeds [3:00pm 8/6/13 Rp = 9:00am 9/17/15]?)
Takao 0 Posted March 1, 2016 #9 Share Posted March 1, 2016 In character time is fluid. You can roleplay it being whatever time of day is relevant to the thread. You just can't create topics that happen "in the past" for the purpose of abusing items. All threads happen in chronological order that they're posted.

Drakath 0 Posted March 2, 2016 Author #11 Share Posted March 2, 2016 I've noticed that there are more skills than listed here. Ex: Athletics How does one obtain these skills and could someone make a list?
Hirru 0 Posted March 2, 2016 #12 Share Posted March 2, 2016 (edited) Those are actually Skill Mods or Modifications. They're used in tandem to a certain skill. For example, Athletics is a mod for both of the armor skills. Unfortunately, certain mods are only unlocked when the appropriate rank is reached in that skill. Example again: Athletics is a rank 3 Mod which requires Armor rank 3. (It doesn't matter which type of armor, as they both have the Athletics mod.) You'll also need to spend SP to obtain them.
