[PP-F1] Scouting for Allies - COMPLETED

Recommended Posts

Cygnus was going all around Starting City, looking to seek out potential allies that can maybe help him escape this death game. This job was too big for any one person. Cygnus couldn't fathom clearing one floor, let alone a hundred by himself. No, this was a job best suited for a team. A powerful team. Cygnus wanted to create this team, but after almost a whole day of searching, he came up with nothing. It was partially his fault, as most of that time was spent mustering up the courage to talk to others rather than recruiting them. Cygnus was rarely social in the real world, even less so since his wife died, so this recruiting thing was kind of difficult to him. He approached a fountain, taking a seat on the edge with a dejected sigh. It was time to throw in the towel for today, he figured. Maybe he would have better luck tomorrow. As Cygnus allowed himself to relax a little, he lost his balance and ended up falling backwards into the fountain. The shock of the cold water hitting him caused him to panic and he soon began thrashing to try to get himself up. "Ow! Help me! Help me!"

Emblem and his familiar Aisu strolled around floor one hoping to find something to do. This game was made up of mostly what he called "adults" who were really 17ish. It was hard to find people around his age to team up with. He walked into somewhat of a town square area with a fountain in the middle. He walked up to a bench and took a seat. He decided he would organize his inventory real quickly when his thoughts were interrupted by a man who seemed to have fallen into the fountain. he yelled out for help. Trying not to laugh him and his dragon hatchling ran over to the fountain to help the man up. He held out his hand towards the man. Hey, you alright? Grab on! Emblem waited for the man to grab onto his hand so he could pull him out of the water.

Cygnus heard a voice through his gargled cries for help. Desperately reaching out and searching, he found a hand and grabbed onto it, letting whoever it was help him up. He coughed and sputtered, wiping water out of his eyes. He looked at his rescuer and let out an embarrassed chuckle. "Uh, hey. Thanks. I guess I kind of panicked there. My nerves have been... frayed lately." That was an understatement. This year had been incredibly trying and stressful to him. Cygnus slicked his hair back so it wouldn't get anymore water in his face. "I'm Ta-" He stopped himself from saying his real name. He preferred to go by his character name. Why, he didn't know. Maybe now that he was stuck here, he felt like Taro Matsuda really was gone. "Call me Cygnus. It's nice to meet you." He looked at his hand to make sure it was dry before offering it for a handshake. He took this moment to analyze his rescuer. He was clearly younger than him. Quite a bit by the looks of it. But age isn't an indicator of power here. He knew that. So maybe fate was kind to him after all and delivered a potential friend and ally?

No problem are you alright? Emblem watched the man slick his hair back and introduce himself. Well  its nice to meet you too Cygnus! I'm Emblem and this is Aisu! Emblem pointed to the ice dragon hatchling who now sat on his shoulder. So what are you up too? Emblem shook Cygnus's hand. Emblem suddenly realized that this may be what he was looking just something to do in this game. He had started to become bored with just fighting monsters and this seemed like possibly it could grow into something larger.

(OOC: hope you don't mind me posting here. I saw this was an OP thread, so I decided to give it a shot)

Bhairyuu had been wandering here and there in the streets of the main safe zone of Floor 1, a place called Town of Beginnings when he heard a loud splash somewhere near the fountain in his vicinity, the sound being followed by more sounds of someone desperately trying to stay afloat but failing miserably. Once again, his curiosity was aroused, and so he took off in the direction of the noises he had heard and when he got there, he saw what appeared to be a younger male helping out an older one who seemed to have been drenched from head to toe. Deciding to see if he could help the poor sap any, Bhairyuu walked over to them at a brisk pace. As he got near, the lights from the shops fell upon him, revealing his 27 year old form to the two if they chose to study him.

He was 6' 3" in height and looked to weigh 180 lb. He was decently athletic in build and his skin exhibited a sun-kissed tone and roughened texture giving him the appearance of having spent numerous hours outside under the sun over an extended period of time. His upper limbs were of the same length as any other person’s while his legs were a cut above the average in length. His feet were size 9 while the bone density throughout the rest of his body lay on the lighter side of the medium range. However, the density of the bones in his upper and lower limbs was on the heavier side of the medium range giving him the intended appearance of one who had undergone rigorous training in various martial arts.

His two tone hair (jet-black with metallic silver) was shoulder-length and its texture was quite coarse from being constantly dried by the sun’s heat. He had it tied up in a high spiky ponytail, so his bangs were non-existent. His sideburns extended down till 1 inch above the angle of his jaw. His eyes were narrow and his irises were jade green in color while his pupils were like those of a cat. He had rather high cheekbones, a sharp nose, and his teeth were straight with his canines being slightly longer than those of the average person while his jaw was strongly set and tapered off to a point. All of these combined with his gaunt cheeks and high forehead gave him distinctive appearance. This appearance of his was made even more striking because of the various marks that were visible over his skin. One of these marks was a crescent moon shaped birthmark (with both horns of the crescent pointing upwards) on his forehead between his eyebrows. The only other mark that was visible was the one on the right half of his face. This one was a long thin scar which ran vertically from 1 inch above his eyebrow, across both eyelids, till 1 inch just above his cheekbone.  The rest of the marks were hidden by his chosen outfit.

His top was a comfortable navy blue uwagi (traditional Japanese kimono like jacket) which had a high collar, long but loose sleeves, a series of neon green metal fasteners shaped like Djed Pillars running down the right side and which was modified to extend down till 3 inches above his umbilicus. From the waist down, he had on an equally comfortable looking navy blue hakama (traditional Japanese trousers) which had pockets located in strategically advantageous locations for easy access in any situation. These extended down from his waist till 7 inches above his ankle and were held up by his utility belt (shaped like an Ouroboros) which contained his inventory within holders of various sizes.

Underneath the uwagi, he had a jet black muscle tee which went up enclosing his whole neck and ended by covering the lower half of his face, especially his mouth and nose. The little of his forearms that extended beyond the sleeves of the uwagi was covered by black armbands which extended down his forearms from 3 inches below elbow till 3 inches above wrist. On his hands, he had black colored standard finger-less gloves with the dorsum of the gloves being reinforced with small, thin square plates of neon green colored metal plate shaped like a scarab and the knuckle region with strips of the same metal, both bonded to the cloth permanently. The gloves had a roughened patch of leather on the palm side, presumably to increase his grip.

His legs below the hem of the hakama were covered by form fitting black leg-warmers which started 7 inches below his knees and extended downwards to end in a segment which enclosed the middle part of his soles in a sort of sling, leaving his heels and the toes uncovered. His choice of footwear was a pair of black steel toe tabi boots which had small rectangular neon green metal plates shaped like a scarab on the top. The boots extended up to 3 inches above his ankle.

His headgear consisted of a medium sized black colored Chinese hat with which he shielded his eyes from the sun shining in the sky above the Town of Beginnings. This hat had an Egyptian style cloth headdress with alternating black and navy blue stripes as an extension covering the back of his neck. The hat also had a large bright metallic silver colored royal uraeus shaped metal plate on the front just above the rim. The armbands and leg warmers had metallic silver colored Egyptian ankh shaped metal plates on their front surfaces.

As he came within sight and earshot of the two males, Bhairyuu called out, his voice revealed to be of a rich baritone but yet melodious nature

“Hey there, guys. You both alright? Need any help?”

It’d been awhile since Shay had been to the Town of Beginnings. With Life away on another mission from his guild, the young woman had time to assist new players with starter missions, and what better place to look for them than the first floor. The place was busy as it always was, there were players congregating in pubs and cafes, vendors hawking their wares, everything nice and rather peaceful-like. It was nice really. As she meandered through the crowds of people, she spotted a familiar sight and thought she’d say hello.  Mai approached the boy in blue. It wasn’t him that she remembered so much; it was his lovely little dragon familiar.

“Hello again little dear…” the girl said with a smile as she came upon her intended marks. Shay cocked her head to the side as she realized the familiar’s owner was hoisting up another gentleman; one who was soaking wet. “Ummm.. are you alright?” she asked wondering what exactly happened.

"Reginald!" A female voice hissed after a small creature's dashing form. The bright-orange fox familiar darted across the cobblestone plaza in the heart of the Town of Beginnings. Following after the animal, what looked like a young girl with a matching hair color continued to scold her companion in a hushed voice, as if not to draw attention to herself. "Come back here! Where are you going?!" She tried in vain to get the fox to stop, although he occasionally looked back towards her or stopped for half a second as if to keep her chasing him without them losing sight of each other. Aster let out a huff of air, doing her best to keep after the fox with her combined lack of athleticism and self-conscious nature. She preferred not to draw attention to herself while in town--or anywhere else, for that matter--but the little devil was making that impossible for her as she carefully weaved through small crowds of players and NPCs.

Aster's vision was focused on the familiar that expertly trotted and dashed through the area. She had increased her pace, getting incredibly close to catching the fox by the scruff of his neck, when she suddenly felt something solid in front of her. Colliding with what she expected was another person, the ginger girl immediately lost her balance, landing hard on the stone ground beneath her. A few lengthy moments passed before Aster reactively brought a hand up to the side of her head and scanned the area for the figure she'd run into. Her amber eyes fell upon another girl with long violet hair. Aster blinked, apparently still in shock as she registered what had happened. Reginald, on the other hand, circled back around and approached the girl his master had practically run over, nosing and sniffing at her curiously.

As Bhairyuu was approaching his marks, he had his senses on alert so he noticed a scene that caused him to let out a short booming laugh, namely the scene of the young woman who had just entered the area while chasing her familiar and who ended up crashing into the other woman who had approached the two males a little earlier than himself. Intrigued by the the girl and her familiar, Bhairyuu greeted them on his way to the two males

"Yo! That looked like it could leave a mark. Are you two ladies, alright?"

He said in his baritone but melodious voice and then looked down at the familiar who was sniffing at the woman whom his master had nearly run over. He studied it curiously for a few minutes as it was a fox, one of his most favorite animals and then held out a hand for the master of the fox familiar to take if she so desired since from what he could see, she was the one who took the brunt of the collision and was on the ground at present.

Cygnus's cheeks turned crimson as more people began to converge on him. Some asking if he was okay, others happening by from mere circumstance. He grew even more embarrassed. "I'm okay." He said finally, straightening up after shaking Emblem's hand and straightening his clothes. "I'm a little wet, but i'll dry out." He nodded and turned to Bhairyuu and Mayuri, the latter of which just collided with another girl. He couldn't believe it. All day he was trying to make contact with people, and just like that, four people just stumbled across him. Cygnus wasn't a superstitious man, but he couldn't help but feel as though fate played some roll in this. That remained to be seen, of course. He hadn't made any friends yet. He was about to introduce himself to Bhairyuu and Mayuri, but decided against it until he was sure Aster was alright. Today was shaping up to be interesting after all. Cygnus thanked his lucky stars for that.

After Emblem pulled up Cygnus and begun talking to him it seemed that people began popping up first was the young woman Mayuri who he had become friends with in the past. His familiar Aisu flew up from his shoulder and onto Mayuri's head. Aisu had always liked her. Then out of no where another young woman who seemed to be chasing hr own familiar ran into Mayuri. As the two collided Mayuri pushed into him as she fell. Crap! Emblem fell into the fountain. After a few seconds of struggle he helped himself out of the fountain then burst into laughter. Are you two okay? Emblem tried to dry his hand then helped the two woman up. Emblem turned to Cygnus and laughed. I guess we both get to go for a swim today!

Khrysaor was walking through the town at a nice leisurely pace with his hands in his pocket. He was bored with nothing to do, and wanted a bit of excitement. As he looked at all the shops in the area, he heard some commotion coming from his right. He looked down the alleyway, and noticed it was still a little far in the distance to see what was happening. His curiosity was piqued, so he headed in the direction of the disturbance. As he got to the exit of the alleyway he saw a group of players crowding around a fountain. He saw his buddy Ryuu there and Aster who he has seen around before with a few unknown players. He chuckled at their antics watching the group fall over each other and into the fountain. "Hey, you guys okay there?" he called out to the group. He looked towards the two wet players, and said with a big smile, "I haven't really seen people swim with there clothes on. Is that the norm around here?"

No sooner than she had walked over did the little ice dragon recognize her and land upon her raven-haired head. “Well hello again,” The girl giggled as she reached up and patted the darling little creature’s head. “You’re just the cut- AHHH!” Her words were cut short by someone or thing crashing straight into her from behind. She couldn’t brace herself and managed to shove straight into the boy in blue knocking him right into the fountain as she tumbled onto the edge of the fountain with a flop.

“Oh!” She squeaked as she looked around trying to piece together what happened.  She reached for the top of her head and found the dragon still safe. “You okay up there?” she asked the baby ice familiar as she scratched under his chin. There was the small kurfling of sniffles. The pink kimono clad girl, looked down to see that at her feet was a tiny fox and a bit further was a downed girl with the same gingery hair as the familiar. Mai turned and meant to help the boy out of the fountain but he was already pulling himself up and laughing. He then helped Mai to her feet as the other girl was offered a hand by another fellow who happened to be there. It was about then that another young man approached laughing at the scene.

“I think we’re all okay.” She said with a smile. “We all are, aren’t we?” She asked the rest of the group just to be sure.

' Ugh...' Aster was still trying to get her bearings after the flurry of commotion. Her collision with the dark-haired girl had started a domino effect, causing a blonde player to fall back into a nearby fountain. The sound of the splash brought the ginger girl back to her senses, and her eyes fell upon a black-gloved hand extended to her. Suddenly the chorus of "are you okay"s and concerned expressions hit her, and Aster felt her cheeks growing hot as she had quite literally stumbled into the group of people now surrounding her.

Catching sight of her furry familiar, the girl's expression immediately soured and she hissed his name under her breath to draw his attention away from the poor girl who was just recovering. As if the man's helpful hand had previously vanished, Aster blinked in surprise as she re-discovered it, glancing nervously upward to the dark-haired man it belonged to. With a feeling of what might be guilt or polite obligation, she hesitantly accepted his hand to help herself up. Reginald's attention was finally drawn back to his companion, and once she was on her feet the fox weaved himself between her ankles.

"I-I'm sorry," she stammered to no one in particular, or perhaps she was addressing the group as a whole. Either way, the girl kept her eyes glued to her feet, at a loss for words.

OOC: Hope it isn't to late to 'jump in' (not really, Vic would never.) xD

Victor had placed himself in the shadow of a nearby alley. His brown eyes were trained in an absent minded fashion onto the fountain. He drew peace from it, while his mind whirred with future plans. He thought of things ranging from possible builds, to the variety of quest options and which one he was ready to take. He also thought about how much longer it'd take for him to complete his training as a merchant. His beautiful line of thought was broken by a commotion at the fountain. initially, he felt annoyance engulfed him. Then, especially from where he was standing, he saw the humor in it all. The young adult, folded his arms and snickered softly, watching it all unfold. Three wet people later... He finally strolled out of the shadows of the alley, struggling to keep a straight face, he joined the amassing crowd, mostly to get a closer look at the idiots who'd managed to make such fools of themselves. He happened to know one of them, Emblem, from what he could see and recall. The brown haired boy refrained from making any introductions or offering any insight till the whole situation sorted out, or got incredibly out of hand. Vic loved observing such interactions, he stayed amidst the crowd, attempting to hide in plain sight.

Syn started to walk from the Starlight Café within the Town of Beginnings, mindlessly wandering. A loud splash echoed thought the alley that she was in. Eyes looking up the girl begins to run towards where the noise had come from. Peering out from between two buildings she spots a group of players, a motley of colours. Slowly she walks up to them her hands clasped behind her back she looks at the one who is dripping. “Hi” the girl says to the group pausing for a moment before continuing, “Why are you wet?” her voice quiet as her she pulls her coat tight around her. Looking closer to the group Syn notices the fox and the dragon her mouth curling at the corners. “Wow they’re amazing.”

“SYN!” Vyrtew yells, spinning around he’d lost her again. His head falling into his hands as he sat down on a bench nearby. “For crying out loud.” The boy said as he began to mutter to himself. “How does she do it.” Sitting back up and leaning his head on to the back of the bench he lets out a long, exasperated sigh. “Right.” He says pushing himself back to his feet. “Now if I were her-“ His thoughts were interrupted by a loud splash from around the corner. The white haired boy turns and begins to run towards it, his coat and shirt flapping open. Sliding to a stop just before he reaches the group, he smiles to himself. In the midst of the group was his sister. “Funny, how these things work out.” He muses, before settling down against a wall, watching quietly.

Stumbling and wandering the first floor, the wanderer quickly stops a large group of people. Upon a closer look, he quickly notices that it's the white haired duo he spotted before at a cafe. He figured he should say something since people with white hair are a pretty rare sight - also cause he has white hair. As he took a few steps closer, he quickly spots his former companion, Aster, tripping into the group and pretty much disappear into the masses. "Huh... she's probably fine... I should check up on her though." The wanderer pushed through the large group and began to look for her.

Baldur stepped out of his shop, Catfish Sundries, and tapped the door to bring up the menu and set it to lock before turning around and facing the square that his shop opened up to. In the center of the square there seemed to be a small party going on, with several low level players swimming in the fountain. An amused smile on his face, Baldur walked towards the gathering, his blue haori catching a breeze and causing the white flames along the hem to flicker. His left hand rested calmly on the katana at his hip. Baldur was one of the more rare older players, often double the age of most of those he ran across. It was always joked that it seemed most world saviors in japanese literature had already saved the world before they graduated highschool.

"You know, if you want to go swimming, there's a lake over by the cathedral."

Baldur gave the assembled crowd a playful smirk.

Victor watched as more people amassed around him. It made it easier for him to remain concealed among the throng of people and yet watch the events unfold. Victor assumed that the crowd was soon going to thin and dissipate if nothing interesting happened again. He eagerly scanned the faces of the people involved, trying to memorize them in case he interacted with them again in the future. A man decided to crack an off-handed joke about the whole situation, directing his words towards the group that Victor was a part of. The brown haired boy chuckled softly and he couldn't agree more. A fountain in the middle of town was certainly not a place to swim. He was compelled to add his own bit. As that urge took over, he quickly formulated a plan to give his two cents, without getting into trouble. So that he couldn't be identified later as someone who said something inappropriate he crouched low between the players collected there and changed his voice, making it high pitched and almost squeaky. "This isn't a good place for a shower either." he quickly shuffled away from he'd spoken and stood back up. He began gauging the reaction of the players, some smiled and smirked others searched for the source of the comment in a dismayed fashion. He began pretending that he was looking for the source of that comment, with a dismissive look on his face.

Bhairyuu smiled politely as the ginger haired girl whom he had decided to help up finally seemed to have collected herself enough to take his hand and help herself up and so he spoke in reply which was punctuated with a deep chuckle

"No, mademoiselle...no need to apologize...after all, I was just doing my good turn for today...Are you sure you're okay though?"

He asked for confirmation that she was alright while letting go of her hand and returning it to its position by his side and while waiting for her to reply, he noticed that this little spectacle which drew him had similarly attracted quite the crowd, some ten players if his eyes were not misleading him and his counting skills were working properly. So, as he waited for her answer, he listened to the comments, some facetious and some not so much, and his smile slowly morphed into the ghost of an amused smirk which now played upon his thin lips as he looked back at the ginger haired girl before him and her familiar, the cute little fox apparently named Reginald.
