[Sp-F1] Bonding <Itzal> <completed>

Recommended Posts

Itzal walked out of the cave just as Velnia finished the last of his bread.  He made a mental note to pick up some food in the next town.  When she downed the last piece she sniffed the air and cocked her head with a look.

'Is there more?' she seemed to ask.  Itzal laughed and shook his head.

"No Velnia, you ate the last of my food.  In fact, if this keeps up I'll never get a home with all the food I'll be buying!"  He chuckled as she rolled her eyes.  With lightning speed she ran along the folds of his armor all over his body until she found a spot she liked on his left shoulder that she perched on.  She looked at Itzal and smiled, showing her tiny teeth.  Itzal couldn't help himself from smiling back.  She was a wonderful companion.  He was sure his group would love her.  Her eyes darted at the unused hood and mouthpiece and in the blink of an eye she pulled up the hood, causing Itzal to laugh as he fixed it up as well as pulled on the mouthpiece.  Obviously she was an anxious one.  She'd learn however to be stealthy with him.  He'd make sure of that.

Itzal told Velnia everything about what had happened previously.  He didn't bother explaining how this was all a game and that they were trapped in it since she was still an npc, but when she discovered the bracelet he explained that he had a sister who worried about him and he wore it to remember her all the time.  This made Velnia purr and cuddle with Itzal.  When he told her about his new <and probably only friends> her body became a bit rigid.  He chuckled.

"Not quick to trust others eh?  Then why'd you trust me?  You only just met me."  She gave him an annoyed look and puffed smoke in his face.  He laughed and waved the smoke away.  He told her about pkers <which made her growl> and how the others didn't know they existed.  To this she looked away for a moment.

'How do you?' her expression asked.  Itzal sighed and told her about his parent's murder.  He also told her that the authorities eventually caught the murderer.  Evidently he burned what he had stolen and so they asked him why he assaulted the parents.

"Because I could," he said with a smile.  The following day he was executed.

"People kill because they enjoy it," he said solemnly.  "They don't care about the lives of others."  His fist tightened.  "That's why the world has these people.  Serial killers, thieves, rapists, terrorists.  They will always exist no matter where we go."  Velnia made no sound but crawled onto his torso, holding on tight and wrapping her tail around him.  He placed his hands gently around her.  "All we can do is hunt them down Velnia.  It's all we can do."

He looked up at the sky.  He couldn't use the moon to determine the time but he knew he should be getting back now.  He needed sleep after all.  He stroked Velnia and saw that she was already falling asleep.  He smiled as he readjusted his arms so as to hold her in a more comfortable position.  He began the long trek back and looked up at the full moon in all it's glory.  He enjoyed the night hours better than day, but he couldn't hang out with his friends at these hours either.  He thought about his friends.  He used these nightly walks to get all the emotions and thoughts that built up throughout the day out of him.  If any of them ever joined him would they laugh?  Would they avoid him?  He shook his head.  It wasn't worth thinking about right now.  Best to keep walking.

Itzal walked for a bit and they reached the forest that marked the halfway point.  He smiled as they were almost there.  He stroke Velnia and she woke up.  He was about to tell her where they were when she suddenly started screeching.  Itzal let go, startled by her response and she opened her wings for the first time.  With her large wings outstretched, it made her appear far bigger than she actually was.  She looked magnificent.  Her cries however, were made at fast and frantic tones.  He realized too late that she was trying to warn him and when he turned around, drawing his blade, the bear had swung a large strong hand at Itzal, knocking him into a tree.  This sudden surprise attack frustrated Itzal, but perhaps he could use this to test out Velnia's skills.

Itzal pushed himself off the tree but the bear was on him instantly.  It lifted it's two heavy paws and swung them down with all it's might at Itzal.  As he felt the full force of the blow he knew he took extra damage.  Before the bear could hit him again however, Velnia flew in with incredible speed and scratched at the bear as it passed by.  It didn't do anything to the bear besides tear out some of it's fur, but it distracted the bear long enough for him to get out of harms way.  Right after he dashed he could almost feel the bear's claw from the centimeter's distance.  He turned around and prepared a counter-attack.

Itzal waited for the bear to swing it's massive claw at him right before jumping to the left.  He realized that he felt lighter and faster than he did before.  So this is what evasive stat is like he thought.  Right after he dodged, he returned the favor with a heavy swing at the mob, cutting through it and ran a little so the bear couldn't reach him with it's next hit.  When he came to a stop, Velnia landed on his shoulder.  He looked at her and smiled, though she couldn't see it.

"Don't worry about me, my armor and skill stats are enough to keep me alive.  Just make sure you don't get hit yourself."  Velnia nodded and took off again.  Just as the angry bear made another attack.

Itzal prepared his sword art, snake bite since he hadn't upgraded to rank II yet, and charged.  He pierced the bear three times, the third causing pixelated blood to poor out.  Itzal knew that this was the bleeding effect.  The bear roared in agony and rammed into Itzal with all it's strength, knocking him to the ground and clawing at him.  Itzal was helpless before the ferocious attack the bear gave.  He almost called to Velnia when he heard the bear give out a cry and get off of him.  It's behind had a little spot of fire on it.  He looked at Velnia who seemed as close as a dragon was to chuckling.  The fire didn't hurt it however, just aggravated it.

Itzal dodged the bear's swings one after the other.  He ducked, jumped, and rolled out of the way.  When the bear stood up to prepare a strong attack, fake blood came out of it's torso, causing it to collapse again in pain.  The bleeding effect worked.  Itzal dashed and swung his blade through the bear from head to toe.  It made no response to his attack and just stood there panting.  Itzal stopped moving.  Was it almost dead?  Was that why it stopped fighting back?  Velnia perched on a branch on a tree, seemingly eager to see him finish it off.  Itzal grinned.

"Alright," he told her, "if that's what you want."

The bear finally regained enough strength to stand up.  It roared at him, trying to intimidate.

"You gotta back it up fool!"  Itzal roared back.  The bear lost it and charged Itzal.  Itzal ran towards the bear, and moments before they made contact he swung his blade in a flowing circles round his body before throwing it into his left hand and striking through the bear's eye, skull and hide.  The bear crashed into the ground behind him.  Itzal turned around and saw no loot.  Figures, he thought.  Finally fought something other than a wolf or boar and he received nothing to show for it.  Velnia landed on his left shoulder and gave him an annoyed look.

'really?' it seemed to say.  Itzal chuckled.

"Yeah," he said, "maybe that last bit was a little too much eh?"  She raised an eyebrow and he began roaring with laughter.

Itzal told Velnia to take off and follow him.  She watched as he scaled a tree and he began leaping from tree to tree.  As he made his way through the trees, Velnia flew as close as she could to him, flying in between the trunks and trees with ease.  He smiled inwardly.  His dragon.  Flying beside him.  With her in the shadows of the trees as he was, they were bound to be invisible.  Still, it would be a good idea to get a sneak skill.  He might choose that as his next option.  When they reached the end of the forest he began climbing down when he spotted a wolf down below.  The wolf spotted him and growled.  Velnia circled above him, screeching to get his attention.  With the wolf's attention on her, Itzal was able to climb down fully without an issue.  He snapped a twig when he landed on the ground however, reverting the wolf's focus on the player once again.

The wolf eyed him a moment and seemed to recognize him.  Itzal sighed.  This was probably the last of that wolf pack he kept running into.  Well, might as well finish the job.  The wolf charged forward with it's teeth gnashing.  Itzal turned around and backflipped off of the tree (correctly this time) drawing his sword in mid-air at the same time he heard the wolf's head collide with the trunk.  As soon as he landed he thrust his sword at the wolf.  If he waited a moment after landing he probably could have landed a critical hit he realized, but as it was he merely made a large cut on it's right foreleg.  The wolf yelped and turned on him, causing Itzal to jump back.

He didn't jump back far enough however, and the wolf bit him on the foot.  Instantly, Velnia swooped in and grabbed it's ear, yanking the head off of Itzal.  The wolf snapped at Velnia but she flew away in time.  Itzal took the opportunity to charge up his sword art, and when the wolf turned to him again he activated snake bite.  He stabbed at the wolf in the eyes three times in a row, clearly causing a bleeding effect as well as a critical hit.  The wolf howled in pain just before Itzal kicked it away.  This fight was going faster than they usually went.  Itzal felt a sense of pride seeing how far he had come.

Itzal slashed at the wolf as it rose, causing it to wince.  Now that it was in low health it went all out attack.  It jumped at him, fangs and claws.  Itzal waited until the last moment before stepping to the side, allowing the bleeding wolf to crash into the ground behind him.  As it crashed the bleeding effect took place and the last of it's hp diminished to nothing and shattered.  He was once again dismayed that he received no loot, but was still proud of his work.  He had improved spectacularly in the past few weeks.  The equipment surely helped.  Then he realized something.  The name of his armor, Niger Natio, was latin for Black Racer, a fast snake in the real world.  He had used the move Snake Bite on the wolf.  He laughed when he noticed the connection but Velnia was lost.  He waved the matter aside.

"I'll tell you about it later.  Come on, let's fight one more before heading home."

Itzal walked along the cliffside talking with Velnia.  It hadn't been long in the game and already there was so much to catch her up on.  He was just explaining how he planned on getting a house when he heard growling.  He turned and saw two wolves approaching him.  Wolves he thought.  Why always wolves?  Was he a magnet or something?  Itzal drew Retribuitor and waited for them to get closer.  As the wolves closed in, Itzal lashed out suddenly at one using snake bite, dealing some decent damage to it.  The attack rendered the wolf useless that round as the pain was too much.  The other wolf lashed out at him but he dodged it fairly easily.  It seemed more like a dance to Itzal at this point.

After his first attack the wolves went on full offense.  They worked together to prevent Itzal from swinging that dark blade of his again.  They clawed and snapped at him from almost every direction and he had to work hard to avoid them.  Still, with all his dodges and swinging his sword to deflect their attacks, he felt like he was in a dance rather than a fight.  He realized he hadn't seen Velnia since the fight began.  Perhaps she believed he didn't need her help this time.  Itzal tried to cut a jab at one of the wolves but it dodged at the last second, quickly followed by an attack from it's partner.  Itzal growled as he barely deflected the attack.  This was getting annoying.

Itzal finally had it and kicked the next wolf as it attacked, sending it flying.  It's partner was furious and managed to sink it's teeth into Itzal's shoulder.  He could feel it was a critical hit, but his armor absorbed all but minimal damage.  Still it was painful and he hated the wolf for it.  In return, Itzal used snake bite once again on the wolf, stabbing it's open belly three times, seeing the blade come out the other end.  The wolf yelped and fell on the ground.  Pixelated blood slowly poured out.  Bleeding effect; good.  Plus he was sure that was a critical hit so he dealt a good amount of damage.  Unfortunately, he had forgotten about the other wolf longer than he should have.  By the time his attention was on the second it had sank it's own teeth into Itzal's already wounded shoulder.

Itzal let go of Retributor so he could tear the jaw of the wolf open.  When he did the wolf tried to claw at him but he threw the head into the air and kicked it under the jaw, sending it flying backward.  He took a step back as he caught his breath.  The first wolf was getting to it's feet but it was clear it would never reach Itzal.  With low health already the bleeding effect would finish it.  The second wolf recovered quicker than Itzal expected and charged at him, sending a flurry of claws his way.  Without his sword, Itzal had no choice but to evade it's attacks.  So he jumped on the wolf's back.  As soon as he did he heard the other wolf shatter.

The wolf yelped with surprise, as did Velnia who Itzal now knew was perched on a nearby tree, and began running all over, bucking it's hind legs like a bull would.  Itzal found this fun however and even started laughing.  The wolf on the other hand, was the opposite.  It finally stopped bucking and proceeded to roll on the ground, effectively knocking Itzal over.  Itzal rolled on the ground safely away from the wolf.  His idea worked.  Well, idea in the sense that if he was ever in a tight corner he should do something totally random and unexpected.  The wolf charged at him.  Itzal didn't have his sword so he tried to swing his fist.  Both of them could never have been prepared for the headbutt that followed.

Itzal rolled onto the ground, holding his head with both hands.  He didn't realize it but the wolf hand laid down to rub it's paws on it's own skull.  By the time they both recovered Itzal had retrieved his sword.  The wolf got to it's feet but Itzal could tell that it was still shaky from the unexpected meet.  He himself wasn't capable of running without a little dizziness so he took his time and walked to the wolf.  The wolf started barking but appeared to be barking at a copy of Itzal to his right.  He grinned as the wolf attacked the phantom Itzal and simply swung his sword at the wolf as it passed him by.

The wolf shook it's head after it slowed down and narrowed it's eyes on Itzal.  Itzal checked his surroundings and found that he stood at the edge of the cliff.  The wolf seemed to notice this too and began moving between Itzal and his way out.  Not wanting to let the wolf trap him, he ran towards the open space.  The wolf barked and ran to cut him off, but Itzal jumped high enough to avoid it's snapping maw, swinging his blade downward in the process.  When he landed he saw that the wolf was irritated.  Itzal rolled his eyes.

"How do you think I feel, eh?  You wolves never leave me alone?"  Technically this was wrong, but he was irritated that it was always wolves.
