[F7-SP] Taking down a snek <Case of Wurms>

Recommended Posts

Macradon snickered as he exited his shop, closing it for the day. He was heading for his favorite place, his favorite floor, but sadly enough, one could not by housing on that floor, which Macradon really wanted to. Nevertheless, he was heading to the 7th floor in hunt for another quest that had been appearing, a boss hunt as many of the other quests that's been circulating the quest boards. Macradon had been in the game for quite a while, and he had seen stuff change, seen patches being downloaded while playing the game, everything. "Warp, 7th floor" he said as he had placed himself in the center of the teleport plaza of the 1st floor. Getting out of the plaza as he appeared on the 7th, he would open his inventory and grab a potion, a damage enhancing potion that would help him through a lot when grinding through all this. He walked from the plaza to the town gate. Nimbus was a fine town, but Macradon had to focus on the wilderness that had to come. Unsheathing his big two handed sickle, he would smear the liquid from the potion and enhance its damage.

Out of the city gates, Macradon was only accompanied by the mountain ranges he so adored. Ready to fight some golems again to gain some materials, as well as some col if possible for the guild. If there would ever come a mountain range floor again, Macradon would probably make his house on that floor, loving how mountains functioned, he just had to. That ordeal would come out of the way as he didn't need to fund that yet. A small group of 4 golems were in line of sight for Macradon, he would prepare himself and get an attack off. He rushed in with his <Charge> skill to get the initial damage boost, but it didn't seem to go off at all. He missed his attack, whilst being stuck in the middle of the golem group. Macradon was not fast enough to dodge the head on attack that came from the golems, taking 4 hits, but regenerated the health again in no time with help from his <Regen> enhancement.

His increase in level had put him at a bad spot for a while now, his normal damage enhancing potions were not enough to get him to the damage point he needed to be at, which annoyed him significantly. He just had to reach the tier 3 mark to get the new equipment he needed, as well as some damage boost on his weapon. He would quickly glance down at his sickle sword, preparing for an attack that would destroy the golems around of him. He was really getting at it, he just needed to kill them, but this was going overkill, but better this than wasting more time, he had to slay the field boss. He would grip his sword and go make 6 sweeps around him, clashing through all 4 golems. The damage done was great enough, actually greater than, to destroy them. Loot was left behind, which Macradon could always use. Now that he had created this small detour of his, he would begin to look for the field boss.

It did not take long before he would encounter the field boss, and it was clear that this was a field boss. A two headed serpent roamed the mountain ranges, clearing what vegetation there would be present, as well as clearing out the swarm of mobs in its path. The serpent didn't seem to be fixated upon a single target, it was just roaming, creating destruction wherever it roamed. Macradon would go in with his <Charge> skill and try to get it down with a single attack, but he did not succeed. On his way with his <Charge>, debris hit him and would knock him out of direction. But his presence was not shrouded at all, the serpents quickly noticed him and would go in for a kill. Macradon would recover from the debris quickly and block the first attack from the serpent, but not the second. While one head went in for a strike which Macradon would block, a second attack came just as simultaneously, striking onto Macradon's heavy armor, leaving but a scratch on his health bar.

Macradon was gritting his teeth as the event occurred before him. This was but the seventh floor, yet Macradon was having a hard time fighting this two headed serpent. He prepared himself as he would go for another attack, but the slippery serpent was still too agile for Macradon to pinpoint its movement pattern, and luckily for him, the serpent was merely a seventh floor field boss, not really doing much against him. He wold easily be able to block and parry its oncoming attacks like it was nothing, but hitting it was another deal. Macradon had dealt with many different creatures before, and taking on something like this serpent was nothing. He would carefully follow the serpents movements as it tried to find an opening in Macradon's defense, which ended up being futile. Macradon would carefully analyze the serpents movement patterns and hopefully find a weak spot in it.

Alas, the two's try on getting a solid hit on each other was getting nowhere. They had simply underestimated their opponent's power. Macradon, foolish enough to just dive head first into a fight like this. He should've probably done some research so he could quickly break its fighting pattern. The same way with the serpent's AI, it was not prepared to meet something at the level of Macradon, at least it wasn't programmed to do so. The two hugely underestimated each other. The serpent powerful and swift enough to throw out multiple attacks in quick succession that would surely harm someone of the lower levels, but not someone like Macradon. The two were in a clutch, only waiting or the other to make a grave mistake. The serpent with its fierce and non stopping attacks, or Macradon’s high level reflexes and defense. The two were in a stand still with no edge for either of the two.

The two's perfectly balanced battle would shatter as the serpent would halt its attack to make Macradon stagger for a short moment, which was enough for the serpent to be able to attack from two different angles at the same time. Macradon would be able to fend off the one striking from the front, but the simultaneous strike from behind caught Macradon way off guard, striking onto his armor, but unable to bite through the thick steel plating on his torso and head. Macradon would wiggly vigorously and shake off the big serpent's head, making an opening for his attack to go in. He would circle around the serpent for a short while and then advanced with a sword art ready to be dealt. 4 heavy strike dealt to the serpent was taking down heaps of its health bar, leaving but a sliver left for Macradon to take out, and as Macradon was struck by the serpent, his Regen kicked in and healed his health back up again.

Macradon needed only a sliver of damage to take out the gigantic two headed serpent. A direct attack was deflected by Macradon, leaving a big open spot revealed for him to strike at. Macradon would go into a mid stance with his sword behind him. He rushed in and would spin around four whole times in a 1224 degree arc, using his heel as the pivot point as he spun around. The serpent was struck four times, leaving 4 big open wounds on it before it would collapse and disperse into a wall of pixels and then slowly fading away as it was defeated. "The Amphis Serpent has been slain, next is to find a sub.dungeon so I can get as mush SP as possible" he thought as he would venture around the 7th floor's rocky mountain range, trying to spot out anything that would reveal a hidden dungeon he could raid through.

It seemed like Macradon would have to rest a while. His energy was depleted from both the grinding before the field boss and the field boss itself. Macradon sighed as he was looking for a place he could rest peacefully. Of course his level would make any low level mob cower in fear as they sensed him, but it would only cause bigger and stronger mobs to appear and get attracted to his power. Looking around the mountains of the seventh floor, Macradon’s armor clang as his body moved around, making some of the steel bits leave each other’s reach and would then clash upon each other again. It did not take too long for him to find a place he could rest. He had been using a lot of training time here on the seventh floor, this was also the floor where he trained for his grandmastering of his sword skill, which did not leave any harm on him.

A nostalgic feeling flew through his body as he thought back to the time where he was grandmastering his sword skill. It was quite a while ago, but it still felt like it was recently that he acquired the 5th level in that skill. He’s quite amused with the 5th level in the skill. Not only did it unlock a powerful single target attack, but a just as powerful AOE attack, which outmatched nearly all other sword skills in AOE power, which was the main feature of the Two Handed straight sword. He smiled as he would sit down on a rock as the memories ran through his mind like now. He would lean back onto a tree as the happy nostalgic feelings spread through his whole body like a river opening a new smaller river. He would let out a relieved sigh of joy as he would remember all the joy he had back in the days.

Macradon had only close his eyes for a short while before he would open them up again to open up his menu to check the time. As he feared, he had been sleeping in the wild. With a deep sigh, Macradon would get up on his legs again and stretch his body. “I should probably get back to some farming to warm myself up before I head to a dungeon” he thought for himself as he shook his legs and stretched his arms. Even though the armor slightly hindered his movement, it wasn’t obscuring it to a point where he wouldn’t be able to stretch his body. It wasn’t full plate as many other players wore when they went for Mitigation, but it was helping a lot when Macradon had to do lots of wide sweeps he had to maneuver around to complete. If Macradon were to wear some full plate, he would have to adapt to this new way of moving, just like he had to adapt to the shape of his new sword when he first received it.

A small pack of golems were roaming the forest at the feet of the mountains, just roaming around without any real reason. Macradon would try to hide in the nearby brushes, trying to be concealed with his stealth rating and would then begin to launch an attack when he found it fitting. Gritting his teeth, Macradon would rush in with his <Charge> skill to close the gap between him and his opponent. A quick and silent sprint would come as Macradon moved as fast as he possibly could. His sword would glow as a sword art would be unleashed at the golems, though with one problem showing. A golem nonchalant stopped his oncoming assault with its giant rock arm, halting Macradon’s sword art like it wasn’t anything at all. Macradon would quickly react to that and jump backwards, dodging the oncoming attack that would slam the ground right before Macradon, probably dealing a lot of damage to whoever would try to defend themselves against this size of golems.

With a swift attack, Macradon would need to use his strongest AOE sword art, Calamity Disaster. 6 strong sweeps would take down the rocky golems, though with the heavy cost of Energy. Macradon wasn’t too sure how long he would be able to last against foes like this, he would have to keep the energy use on low if he wanted to be able to last through longer sessions where he wanted to farm materials and alike. Noticing his energy gauge that was getting lower and wouldn’t last much longer, he would find a place where he could rest. He would maybe be able to last 1 more attack of that caliber and be all exhausted, which he didn’t want to do. He wanted to have as much energy as possible. Not only that, but he wanted to find a dungeon he could hunt down. He wanted something to do.

Finding a small crevice between two giant boulders, Macradon would find it ideal to take shelter underneath. It had more than enough space for Macradon and his armor, and it would just be fine enough for him to just get on with it. He just needed his energy resources back up and running so he would be able to clear a sub dungeon, that was his plan after all. Taking a quest, then a dungeon, that’s the ideal way of leveling up, getting up in the ranks before much else could be done. They had to clear the floors as quickly and cautiously as possible. Too quick and they might hit a Rohk again, or too slow and we’ll get those damned darkened souls. Macradon wasn’t too fond of this game in itself, but fighting gave him this feeling of adrenaline, even though it was virtual, it felt like the real deal.

Sitting inside the crevice, Macradon would look up the crevice. It would branch a lot and pretty far up as well. Somewhat was stuck inside the crevice, something shining. Macradon noticed it quickly after just looking up at it. He would try to extend his arm up and grab a hold of it, but it was too far away. He would try to stand up, but wouldn’t be able to stand all the way up, just slightly. In a bend over position, Macradon would reach up his arm and grab the shining thing that was stuck. It didn’t take him many tries before he would be able to really grab onto it. Problem now wasn’t to take it, but to get it out of the crevice. Macradon would pull and pull but to no avail, it wouldn’t budge at all. Exhaling deeply, Macradon would grab it one last time and give it all his wits that resulted in him flinging himself backwards out of the crevice, but with the gem cluster in his hand.

It wouldn't take long before he was filled with energy again, but now all he had to do was to find a sub-dungeon and if he couldn’t, he would just look away from this place and go for one of the other new quests that had been discovered. Macradon had patience, but wanted things to go smoothly, and not have too many delays in his day. He would get back up again from his fall and put away the mineral he had found in the crevice, now wasn’t the time to relax anymore, he had to go searching after a sub-dungeon. Sub-dungeons weren’t easy to find at all, they took time, skill and effort. Macradon had optimized himself for sub-dungeon scouting with his Search and Detect, which was why he would be able to find them frequently. Being able to spot them much easier with reveal was also a super great thing to have.

Searching far and wide all over the seventh floor, Macradon would do his best to find a sub-dungeon that would fit his needs, that being a sub-dungeon that wouldn’t be too easy for him to clear, one where he would be able to actually do something to the monsters. Now wasn’t the time to look for a specific dungeon, he just had to find one before the night would fall upon the floor. Having to fight through hordes of night time monsters going to be quite the annoying obstacle. Having to fight through a horde of regular monsters was already a tedious task, and when the moon would show itself, stronger monsters would show up, which would just make the tedious task even more tedious. With what he got, he would do as much as possible to find a sub-dungeon before it was too late for him to head back into town without having to use hours.

Finally, after much hard work, Macradon managed to find a crevice much alike the one he hid inside, but this one had a tunnel going further down. With the help of not only his Search and Detect, but also his Reveal, he was able to see through most of the rocks that formed the crevice, and would then be able to see that there was something hollow going down. Like a slide, Macradon would go down the tunnel and would be greeted with 4 big rocky crabs that would begin to show hostile intentions. Macradon would quickly draw his sword and get into battle position, using his <Charge> skill to get to them before they knew it, he would unleash his <Fight Blade> sword art, striking 6 times and killing the crabs in an instant. “That was easy …” Macradon said and would then proceed to find more mobs to slay until he would find the boss room and clear the dungeon.

Making his way through the rocky underground dungeon, which resembled somewhat a mineshaft that had been abandoned, Macradon would venture even further into the dark unknown. Withing second he would be met with yet another group of scuttling crabs that roamed the abandoned mine. Macradon had not much patience left after his long search for this dungeon, and would therefore rush into the fight without warning. Once again using his <Charge> skill to rush into the fight, unleashing his <Fight Blade> again. This combo was the usual combo for material farming for the Two Handed Straight Sword users, but also an effective mob pushover. Macradon was quite happy that he had chosen the path of the Two Handed Straight Sword, as it was what made him who he was. Mowing through the 4 rocky crabs, Macradon would decimate them, taking whatever loot they would let behind and then venture into the dungeon even further.

As he got deeper into the abandoned mine, larger monsters would vanish from sight, the halls would become more cumbersome and slender. The only monsters Macradon would be able to spot were to mere bugs, they were still big though. Macradon did not feel to use his <Fight Blade> towards them and would therefore just use his <Blast> cleaving twice horizontally, defeating the small foe before going down to a much larger cave like area in the mine. In this cave, multiple mine carts were present, all on each of their tracks. The curious Macradon would think that one of the carts would lead to the boss, but where the others would lead to, Macradon had no idea whatsoever. He would not take the risk and just jump into one of them, so he would just push one of them. It caught momentum and ventured into a tunnel for itself. It did not take long before a very big and loud thud would be heard. “Yeah … probably not that way” he thought.
