{SP-F7} Dungeon maps for sale!

Recommended Posts

Not too long ago Itzal had received a message from Hakai, a friend of his, asking if he could find a dungeon and sell it's location to her.  Hakai being his first customer he was rather excited, and asked which floor she wanted to do one on.  So she told him floor seven and he thought why not?  So here he was on the seventh floor.  Due to monsters having a pretty good amount of damage he decided he wouldn't take on too many, perhaps none at all.  However whether he fought mobs or not, he would be collecting materials nonetheless.  He'd be keeping an eye out for some everywhere he went.  As experience told him, materials were everywhere.  Whether you looked or not they were there.  Itzal made his way out of the town, his eyes scanning the huge mountainous floor.  One mountain could hold a thousand secrets, but this many?  Itzal questioned whether he'd successfully find all of it's secrets or not.  He stopped as he spotted four song crystals that were usually already taken.  As he reached down to take them he noticed something odd about them.  He selected one and it said <Tier 1>.  Tier one he thought...  So these were updated too.  Dang it all.  This made his job harder.  Or...  Perhaps, it didn't.

If specific tiers were needed, then he could collect tier one materials and sell them to blacksmiths, tailors, artisans and alchemists who made supplies for tier one players.  Either that or sell directly to one player to sell them to everyone else.  This update might actually have made life easier for him as a scout.  He straightened and looked around the view.  He spotted the different paths he had taken and decided to head over to another mountain he had visited not long before.  As he had already thought, there were thousands of secrets mountains could keep.  He could spend all of Aincrad searching and never fully explore more than one mountain here.  As he made his way down the pre set path he continued to keep an eye out for materials and soon spotted something inside the stone wall.  He checked and saw a metal.  He pulled it out as well as three others.

He stored these new materials inside his inventory and continued to walk along the trail.  Indeed there seemed to be many updates the cardinal was making.  Perhaps Kayaba wasn't as thorough as he originally intended to be.  Either way, he created an AI system that could keep up with things and make up for his mistakes, which he had to admit was INCREDIBLE.  Itzal pulled out his journal, where he wrote down ideas for the video game he himself wanted to make, and wrote down more ideas for an AI.  Kayaba may have been crazy to do this to them, but he was also a genius.  As he walked he thought he spotted a material or two but was mistaken.  His thoughts went back to the AI.  How would he go about to making it?  In fact, how even did Kayaba design one?  Did he copy someone else's mind or was the AI very very very well designed to act like a human mind?  Either way was difficult so how did Kayaba do it?

Itzal knew several AI's from different movies, shows and games.  Star wars robots, terminator, the AI from red vs blue, Cortana from halo.  And while the computer in Ender's Game didn't exactly communicate or act like a human, it did think, learn and decide what needed to happen in Ender's scenario game.  There were others of course but Itzal didn't want to get too too sidetracked here.  In fact, he was already painfully sidetracked.  He needed to focus on getting to the mountain and finding a dungeon for Hakai.  And be careful in case a monster came out of nowhere.  It was his practice to be ready for anything.  That's why Ascendant's Rosario hung on the belt of his Twilight Cloak, and why Beauty Incarnated was on his finger.  And then he heard a war cry and turned just in time to see a lizard man with iron armor on his shoulder, some of his chest, and leather armor for the waist down.  In it's hands was an ax and it swung at Itzal who dodged it expertly and drew his sword, releasing the sword art Nova Ascension and landing a critical hit, dealing a lot of damage for it's health, stunning it, and landing a bleeding effect.

As the lizard humanoid was slashed multiple times and knocked back, the paralysis symbol appearing beside it's health bar, Itzal leaped backward and knew he'd have one other chance to deal massive damage to the monster.  He charged his sword art and rushed forward, releasing Shadow Explosion, all focused on one target.  Until he unlocked rank three martial arts he would be stuck using these two sword arts but that was ok.  He wasn't really worried about maxing out his damage skills yet.  He still had to master lock picking, get the last two search and detect mods, and then work on stealth.  After that he would work on ferocity and then martial arts.  Still, the sword arts currently did the job, if not longer than they would.  He sometimes missed having a dps with him but he couldn't do anything about that right now.  He leaped backward after the strike, knowing the stun would lose it's effect in a moment.

Foregoing Action

After Itzal had leaped backward he went ahead and opened his battle ready menu and swapped his twilight cloak for his Niger Natio, trading the extra searching skills for the bonus evasion skills.  With his armor equipped he looked through the hood..  To see the lizard humanoid landing a critical strike against him, knocking him into the cliffside behind him.  He noted the damage he took and was glad he had switched to this armor when he did.  The monster was lucky this time but luck only took one so far.  THIS all players knew at some point.  Well.  Everyone besides Itzal.  He knew it was nothing but percentages and numbers, randomized rolls of coding that discerned what would happen, not luck.  The lilzard charged Itzal again but he turned and ran up the wall, pushing off of it and flipping through the air until he landed softly on his feet behind the lizard, that turned to face it's enemy.  It looked a bit surprised at the sudden change of clothes and style, but it shook the emotion off.

Foregoing Action

The lizard man charged and Itzal sighed.  Here we go he thought.  He rushed up and the two struck at each other.  Itzal stabbed and the humanoid figure leaped to the left, dodging the strike.  As it jumped it swung it's ax at Itzal from the side, which Itzal also dodged and swung a counterstrike which the humanoid managed to block and pushed Itzal back a little before releasing an uppercut with it's fist and surprised Itzal.  The surprise was all it needed and the humanoid struck at Itzal from the side, landing a critical hit.  Afterwards however Itzal recovered swiftly and struck back, shocking the humanoid but it again dodged it barely.  Strike after strike the two danced through the canyon, their blades so close to contact yet so far away.  Itzal couldn't land a hit because he hadn't fought someone with a decent skill in ax usage and the Lizard was at disadvantage because Itzal was a master swordsman and very agile.

Foregoing Action

The battle continued to heat up.  Itzal kept himself from using patterns and continued to switch tactics and forms, sometimes using a previous one, and sometimes a new one.  The humanoid couldn't keep up with the techniques and tactics and thus resorted to just improvising.  However Itzal's fast thinking and reflexes gave him the advantage in this area.  He still couldn't get past it's defenses but he could tell he was getting close.  He began to focus, seeking out the pattern in the lizard's actions.  He focused on the weapon, the movement of the creature's scaled arm, the twitch of it's eye.  Time seemed to slow down and sound deafened to nearly nothing as he concentrated with all his might.  Then it made a pause in it's strikes, something he noticed.  Three sequences, a pause, three sequences, a pause.  If Itzal struck during the pause it either dodged or parried.  This seemed to be random, 50% chance for either.  If he struck during a sequence it would parry and switch immediately to a different sequence.

Foregoing Action

Despite this Itzal had trouble landing a hit on the stupid thing.  The creature managed to parry, block, deflect, evade all of his attacks but this was because he was waiting for the right moment to strike.  Then however the Lizard man suddenly charged forward with a frenzy of actually aimed strikes, trying desperately to land a hit on Itzal.  Itzal of course was able to parry some of them, but mainly just twisted his body in ways that let him avoid getting hit.  It was rather easy to be honest.  As he did he wondered if he should attempt using Soul Barrage on the monster.  It would drain his stamina, but he didn't plan on fighting any more today.  After this humanoid all he wanted to do was search for the freaking dungeon and be done with it.  Besides, he still had to collect materials for the second tier.

Finally he decided to just go ahead and do it.  He charged the humanoid creature, struck at it, and before the monster could react he let go of the blade the moment he finished the strike, grabbed with his left hand and struck so fast that it seemed he had two blades to the npc.  Itzal struck faster and faster, becoming nothing but a blur to the monster until finally he landed a hit on the stupid thing, using Nova Ascension, dealt a good amount of damage and landed the bleeding effect.  The lizard howled as it's red pixels flung everywhere and it staggered backward.  It still had over one hundred health so Itzal couldn't stop now.  One or two more successful hits should end it he thought.  However for now the monster was stunned and it was his perfect chance to attack again.

Itzal knew he couldn't use the stun sword art again so he was forced to use the AoE skill.  Until he unlocked rank two or three of martial arts skill he couldn't use the strongest sword art he possessed.  Which was rather frustrating since he wanted to master lock picking first.  Either way his opponent was lying down paralyzed and he had one shot at it.  He charged his sword art and released it on the monster, dealing the same damage as before and watched as the bleed took out more of it's health.  Right.  He miscalculated.  It would take another one or two hits now.  With that over with his energy was beginning to run low, but should have enough to finish the job.  He leaped back and panted to catch his breath as the lizard man began to stir once again.

Foregoing action/Switching equipment

Itzal realized that although this fight was annoying him, he wanted good loot and thus opened up his battle ready menu and switched Niger Natio for his Twilight cloak.  As he did the humanoid finally got back to his feet and when he looked up he was shocked to see that Itzal's armor had changed back to it's original form.  Although confused it did not hesitate to charge and land a critical on Itzal.  Itzal took the hit without hesitation and punched the monster backwards.  He had to wait for an opening otherwise he'd miss the monster and that wouldn't do whatsoever.  Not only that but he wanted decent loot from this moron.  The lizard regained it's balance just as the bleed kicked in, finishing up and leaving the monster for good this time.

Itzal found his chance rather quickly actually.  He saw the lizard make a reckless charge, now over confident with it's critical hit a moment ago, and Itzal ran to meet him.  Even without his evasion boost from the armor, he was still agile and managed to duck under the swinging blade, then released Nova Ascension one last time, dealing the same amount of damage as it's remaining health, and ending the monster.  The lizard howled as it shattered into a million pieces and Itzal stood up, sheathing his sword, and looked to see what loot he had received.  His eyes went up in surprise as he saw what he received.  It was a silver ring and when he looked at it's enhancements he was pleased to see that it upped his lock picking skill by one.  Well then, he didn't have to get all five ranks then.

Itzal examined the ring a little more closer.  It was silver on the outside, but it had a strand of emerald on the inside of the ring.  An interesting one to be honest but he liked both colors so that worked out.  With this ring, Itzal had less SP to worry about getting.  Which of course was a very good thing.  He had a lot to master.  Itzal planned on, after finishing with lock picking, get his martial arts up a little so he could actually use his strongest sword art, then work on getting the remaining mods for search and detect, mastering stealth, then getting the extra weight skill and it's mods.  It was his plan to be able to hold many healing, buff and debuff items to help out in the boss raids.  After he got those skills, he'd master light armor, then get the ferocity mods.  Once those were done he wasn't sure what skill he'd get next.  Probably battle healing?  Survival was important after all.  Maybe he would change his mind in the future.

Indeed it was a long way to go.  But that was the fun of it.  It wouldn't be enjoyable if it were easy.  Then he spotted something in the mountain he was heading to.  Was that perhaps...  A dungeon?  Excited now he began to scale the mountain side, slowly due to the danger and jaggedness.  This would be a lot easier with the final mod for light armor but he'd get there soon enough.  Right now his parkour skills could get him places, just slower without that special mod.  Soon enough he reached the cliffside at last, hauled himself to his feet, and scanned the area.  Yes, there was definitely a secret entrance here.  He activated reveal and spotted a tunnel inside the cliffside and followed it to the entrance, spotting the hidden area.  He walked over and marked it both on his digital and physical map, storing it to sell later.  He needed a good selling method though...

With that dungeon marked there really wasn't much else to do but send it to Hakai.  He opened his menu, opened the mailbox and sent a message along with the map:

Quote

Itzal >> @Hakai

I found the map you requested.  An advanced dungeon on floor seven.  Sending the map your way, no charge since you're my first customer

And with that he clicked send.  Now that this matter was done he decided to take a nice gentle walk back on the path set beforehand.  Once again however he realized he needed to come up with a good way to sell his materials and maps.  He didn't want to go out seeking customers, but customers didn't seem to notice him much.  He thought about it for a while and recalled that there were merchants out there somewhere.  Perhaps he could sell to merchants, and then they sell to customers.  The more he thought about it, the more he liked the idea.  He would sell dungeon maps to merchants, and sell materials at his shop.  It was a great idea he thought and he couldn't wait to get it working.  However, he'd need to collect enough materials for it to work properly.  And of course he had to have discounts for guild members.

Itzal walked along the path, keeping an eye out for more materials he could collect for the guild, shop and selling, and came across an area with four rather curious stones.  He inspected them to see what they were and was surprised to find that it was a material he had never seen before...  One of them looked like silver and there was only a sliver of it.  He checked the other three first and they appeared to be some sort of natural steel.  Interesting he thought to himself.  Steel was made by purifying iron, so how on earth did natural steel emerge?  Either way he stored the three in his inventory for selling later on.  The last one though.  It was barely anything, small as a pearl actually.  He lifted it up and selected the item to see what it was.  His eyes widened with shock.  He couldn't believe it.  Was it even possible?  Had Kayaba actually added this into the game?!  He closed it and pulled it up again to see if he was seeing things.  He wasn't.

It was.  He was holding literal Mithril in his hands.  MITHRIL.  Of all sci-fi and fantasy metals and materials, nothing compared to Mithril.  Mithril was a metal from the lord of the rings series.  A very rare yet extremely strong metal.  Light as a feather and as hard as dragon scales.  Nothing else compared, the metal was the most perfect metal above all else.  Whether being used for armor, weapons or jewelry, Mithril topped it all off.  He was shocked to see that Kayaba would add such a thing.  Most likely it didn't effect the enhancements, but everything else?  The weight?  Resistance?  Those would definitely be affected.  He looked for any other mithril he could find but only found more of the natural steel.  Sighing he stood up and continued to make his way to the town agian.

As he walked along he thought about something.  Dwarfs, mithril.  This was turning out a lot to be like Lord of the Rings.  But if there was a lot of that lore in SAO...  What else could be in this world?  Magic didn't exist, they all knew this, but what about everything else?  Hobbits?  Elves already existed.  Orcs?  Goblins existed.  The one Rings?  Would there be a ring that made the user invisible?  Or a ring that would sometimes allow the player to predict an upcoming move?  Or a ring that made one immune to fire?  Or a ring that allowed one to see certain area's from afar?  Not only that but there were many monsters and animals as well.  Wargs, the Nazgûl's, the Nazgûl's steeds, the eagals and so forth.  So much they could work with.  But dwarfs were what Jonathan and Itzal were searching for.  He spotted and collected another four natural steel.

Itzal was close to the town by now, only a few minutes away.  The dwarfs.  Kayaba was messing with Jonathan and him with this.  Each time they found hints, they just showed that they had been there, but moved a while ago.  If Kayaba had them lying dead somewhere in one of the future floors, Itzal would be driven crazy.  Then his eyes fell on something.  The last time he saw the mithril there was a hint with silver dust on the walls.  He saw that silver dust now.  He hurried over to the large stone and dug through the stones until he found it.  Another tiny shard of mithril.  He was guessing that it would take a very very long time before he had enough materials to craft it.  He was guessing that by the time he was finished, he'd have mithril of multiple types of tiers.
