Each blow struck rang out with a piercing clang that echoed through the halls with the same intensity as the boss' voice. Shield kept his axe out at the ready, shrinking behind his shield as best he could. He could see why the brokers had been so explicit to him about not taking undue risk. To a less defensive character, this onslaught would be devastating. Even through his best efforts, little bits of his health were still being chipped away and restored by his defenses. Still, watching the king's health, he could see the damage effects of his thorns and flame aura likewise chipping away at him. If this is his damage on normal hits, he must hit like a train on critical strikes. I may need to use my familiar after all. "They weren't joking about this guy hitting hard," he grunted, keeping his eyes forward, not feeling that taking his eyes off of the foe in front of him was wise, even for a moment. The hunter called out while performing another uppercut slash to blast away the Night King's sword, so that he could do more damage to his body, or enough of it to actually matter. Their clash seemed to rock the castle more and more as time when on. Icy dust was falling even more so than before, but only to each strike that was carried out against one another. The hunter thought that he would have to be more careful soon, or else they really would be taking the Night King's place on the undead throne. Finishing his sword art, the hunter pulled around behind Shield. The enemy would be coming in hot for the next bout. His cold stare at the both of them was enough to ensure that the debuff was still in place without haven't to look in that general direction. The dead eyes gleamed a cold, haunting blue for a moment as the undead monarch stepped forward, bringing the blade up over its head and down in a wide, powerful arc. While the Stonewall mod ensured that Shield himself would not be moved from his current place, the attack blasted through his defenses, knocking both his axe and his shield down out of the way so that the tip of his sword sank ink the tank's shoulder. More out of surprise at the overall force, Shield swore loudly, the sound reflecting back among the diminishing echoes of the clanging impacts that had momentarily disarmed his defenses. It was not an ungodly amount of damage, and he knew he would recover it all before long, but it impressed upon Shield how imperative it was that his guard remain up. Stepping back, he brought them up once again. If Hirru manages a critical hit himself, I'm going to have to focus on drawing the king's aggro, which means my defenses will suffer. He looked up to the ceiling while his ability was on cooldown. Some things were more prevalent than others, it would seem. That last attack created a thunderous noise from up above. A large crack had appeared around the same area as Shield was standing below it. This was getting worse and worse as the fight went on. He needed to hurry through and destroy this despicable creature once and for all. Oath, in emerald glow, shot forth with the hunter in tow. Another uppercut to bash away the Night King's sword, and a shoulder tackle to start things off. Nine more body strikes and slashes later, the hunter would step back for the cooldown and next chance to attack. "Think you can handle two attacks, because I've got enough energy for that much." "They just really went all out on this guy. The attacks are enough to rattle your bones, even if you're strong enough to take them." The king brought his arm back for another powerful swing. However, despite the strength of such a strike, it was a move that he could not use without telegraphing it, which gave Shield an advantage now that he had seen it in action. He held up his axe once again to deflect the blow, but this time, knowing that the strike would come straight down, he stepped to the side has he parried, letting the attack follow through clear into the floor. The tip of the sword struck the ground with what felt like the force of a car crash. "Good night, that's strong!" he remarked aloud. "Good thing he has to sacrifice speed to get that kind of power." The castle seemed to be settling down after that last one, supposedly each of the Night King's attacks could bring this place to the ground. Not a very structurally sound place to build an undead kingdom made from ice. He sometimes wondered what in the world some of the people of the old world were thinking when they created such derelict and easily destructible infrastructure. Heck, even the fifth floor and its desert ruins had better workmanship than here. Though, their location could still be a problem. Still needed to research that. Bursting out with another emerald back hand to the kneecap, the hunter would come back to behind Shield to await the next attack. Hopefully, he could do something with the limited amount of energy he had left. Should he drink the Energy Drink that he had? It was probably best to do so. It was reassuring to see however how near to death it was, or rather a second death. Shield gave a satisfied nod. "We've got it on the ropes!" he called out, trying to rally one last effort to push for victory. However, despite being undead, the king proved unwilling to give up the ghost just yet. With a quick jab of his sword, which Shield barely managed to get his axe on to deflect any of the force, the blade's tip sank into his side. Glancing up, Shield saw the damage it dealt back to the king and knew it had not been any sort of vital blow. The health bar depleted to a sad fraction of its once pristine total. The sword art cleaved and sliced through the undead king while leaving a trail of orange gashes along its dry and cracked skin, or what was left of it. The Night King howled once more before awkwardly stopping in mid fall before shattering into many thousands of light particles. With the combined power of the two, the mighty king was no more. The castle would creak and quake no more, its purpose however, was done. In the near future, the Night King may return to inhabit this frozen land, but not now. This was their castle now, and all the hunter wanted was to lie down, and that was exactly what he did. With his face in the cold icy floor, the hunter turned to Shield. "We did it.. now we..." The hunter's eyes grew wide and a grimace stood on his face. "...we have to go back down!" He groaned while shoving his face back into the ground. He stepped over to Hirru, tapping the other player's foot with his own. "Come on," he said calmly. Shield shouted, his face practically pressed against that of Jormun, the NPC that occupied the same tavern that they had begun in. "Arr, the reward be the wealth of experience ye-" Shield turned and marched straight for the door with a huff. It wasn't that he minded difficult and uncomfortable journeys, but if part of the expectation for all of the work and suffering and shivering is not met, it leaves one feeling a little taken advantage of. he turned and gave Hirru a final glance and a nod. "I'm out of here," he said, stating the obvious. "We should be fine to adventure again soon, but not before I've had a chance to warm up again for a good long while."
