Combat Dice - 1 - Epic Fail! - no damage

The copied attack missed the enemy barely, instead hitting the pickax, knocking it away from the miner. Now it was defenseless, it could try breaking through to get its pick, or fight using its claws and fangs. The kobold chose the latter, being a coyote, it fought better with his body than any tool. Getting into position, its claws started glowing a pale red, the attack dubbed "Chaotic Claw", used by all members of the kobold family was unleashed on Hikari. The attack was much faster than she predicted, she tried to dodge but got scratched on her right shin, instead. "Damn it, what it is with you beasts and my leg!?" Fortunately, it didn't create enough of a wound to impede fighting, and the damage was negligible, yet she soon would be nearing the danger zone. Hikari charged upon the kobold, now more beast-like and faster, it sacrificed defense to increase its speed, and released her favorite "Brilliant Storm".

Combat Dice - 8 - Success! - 1 Damage

The move connected but only dealt about a quarter of its health, leaving it with about a half of the bar left. The miner, now turned beast, made a dash for its ax, picking it up and returning to normal posture. Hikari expected it to be stunned longer, tough canines would normally be very tough. Hikari readied her sword, which started glowing crimson red, and approached the enemy before unleashing "Circle"

The miner jumped back just barely enough and in time to avoid the "Circle" aiming at its throat. Hikari was annoyed again, these enemies soon became the most infuriating in Aincrad, she felt. Holding her shield up, Hikari slammed the foe away, stunning it and creating the opportunity to stab it. She ran up as quick as possible, sword already flipped in hand and immediately smashed it in its body.

Combat Dice - 3 - Fail! -no damage

(OOC: this is getting ridiculous)

Pick in hand, the miner quickly rolled away before slashing it towards Hikari, who countered it with her sword, knocking it away from her. Sensing the sudden change in the opponent, Hikari took the opportunity to sprint to the back of the opponent, unleashing her "Triangle Slash".

Combat Dice - 1 - Epic Fail! - no damage

(OOC: RNG!!!)

Which was promptly knocked away by the miner with its pick, jumping forward and slashing it in Hikari's direction. She couldn't believe it, she had had the worst luck today, as if someone was picking randomly whether she hits or not. That aside, she tried for the attack she copied before, looking to add a new move to her arsenal. Hikari charged straight into the kobold, knocking its pick away with her shield before jumping up, planning to split the enemy in two head-first.

Though her plan would be thwarted by the enemy instinctively jumping to the side, avoiding her attack and preparing "Skull Cracker". A skill she hadn't seen since the beginning of the fight but that's fine, she know exactly how to dodge it. Hikari quickly stepped aside and behind the enemy as its pick got stuck in the ground. Though it had failed her before, her "Brilliant Storm" was her attack of choice here.

The storm connected but its brilliance went unnoticed as the enemy survived with about a quarter of its health, a common trend among kobolds, apparently. Once again, the miner tried for the move circle, which was, once again, dodged by ducking behind a tree. After the move had finished, Hikari would charge her "Linear" and release it on the coyote man.

Combat Dice - 2 - Fail! - no damage

(OOC: You were the chosen one! Seriously, loot roll of 18 and this...?)

Though "Linear" failed due to the recovery time of the miner ending shorter than expected and it was able to dodge to the side and charge "Skull Cracker", unleashing it upon Hikari. Lucky for her, her recovery had just finished and she was able to roll out of the way in the last second, trying to slash the enemy at the same time.

Combat Dice - 2 - Fail! - no damage

As expected, she missed completely, though she managed to get away from the enemy, making her able to back away and recover while its pick was still stuck. Both now ready, another stare-down ensues, Hikari needs to come up with a new, unpredictable, move. When the enemy started charging towards her, she knew what she'd need. Hikari quick-stepped behind the enemy and unleashed a flurry of thrusts and while normally a staple of rapiers, this move was one of her favorites.

She knew the move wouldn't let her down, it was both a basic and an advanced move she studied with her brother and she was determined to use it with a normal sword instead of a rapier. The move itself was named "Sword Rain" per the creators of the book. She let out a silent sigh while closing the HUD, informing her that, once again, she did not receive any materials. What she was happy about was her level up, bringing her to level five and giving her another skill point, which she spent in upgrading her "One-Handed Straight Sword" skill, making her need just two more points to rank up. She sat under the tree once again, she felt it saved her life in this last battle, perhaps it will again.

The waiting was getting unbearable, she needed just one more iron scrap to finish the quest. "At this rate, I'll be strong enough to defeat the final boss once I get out of here!" She was getting immensely frustrated, her bad luck with drops at the worst time and her failures from the last few battles made her incredibly nervous. She really just wanted to end the quest, then she could maybe forge some equipment or something. Just as she thought about going home and trying again another time, a chance presented itself, a new kobold miner had just appeared before her and this was her chance. She got up, drew her blade, and proceeded to charge and unleash "Linear" on the miner.

Combat dice - 8 - Success! - 1 Damage

The hit from the skill knocked the monster back quite a bit, also knocking about a quarter of its health bar off along with it. The miner was slow, so Hikari had all the time in the world. While it still was getting up, Hikari ran full speed towards the coyote man a performed her "Sword Rain".

Combat Dice - 8 - Success! - 1 Damage

The move hit like a normal skill would, though it didn't seem to be as much damage, the move itself was consisted of about ten hits in just two or three seconds, along with a final one to knock the enemy away. The miner was once again far away and had almost no time to recover as Hikari simply dashed forward again while charging a crimson light and unleashed the move "Circle" on it.

Combat Dice - 7 - Success! - 1 Damage

Though not as far away this time, Hikari did give a chance for the opponent to move. Her luck was getting better, it seemed, her opponent was a complete idiot, this time. With the miner charging a "Circle", Hikari decided it would be best to just duck behind the tree again and attack once it is over, just like she did before. Once it was finished, she spared no hesitation, Hikari sprinted towards the kobold and used her "Triangle Slash".

As she closed the HUD, Hikari felt disappointed, but sort of glad, she didn't think she deserved any reward for such a cheap fight, it was almost the equivalent of fighting a player and they say: "I'm not gonna do anything, so just kill me." She didn't like it. This time, she decided to venture out a bit, see if she found a pair of kobolds as just one would be too easy.

"Apparently the entrance is infested with these guys, but inside, it's dust only..." Said Hikari as she reached the entrance to the mountain biome. "I do remember a group of players going inside the dungeon... wonder if they're okay." She knew what she had to do now, it was no time to falter, but to gather materials... or at least, she wanted to. A bit between the mountains was a group of eight kobolds, divided into groups of two. She'd go to the nearest one and engage in a fight with the first one, using the skill "Linear".

Combat Dice - 1 - Epic Fail! - no damage

Hikari tripped and fell on her face when the kobold randomly walked away, accidentally dodging the attack. "Buwaahh!"

The kobolds were still passive as she didn't hit any of them in order to generate anger towards her. Right now, she needed to try again, she got into position, the blade shone a dark purple and Hikari unleashed the attack on the kobold once again.

The move hit cleanly and a small, glowing red line formed from the monster's left shoulder to its waist. She now had to deal with two enemies, one that was stunned momentarily, and one currently charging "Skull Cracker". She decided to wait until "Skull Cracker" was unleashed, then immediately dodged behind the enemy and struck its back. At the same time, the other miner would be getting up.

The move would have hit if not for the other kobolds pickax being thrown straight into the blade, deflecting the attack. She now had to deal with two enemies at once again, though these two seemed to be a lot more intelligent and coordinated than others, maybe these were spawned a long time ago. Nevertheless, Hikari examined the two, the first one charging "Circle" while the second one retreated. She had left her tree and there were no others around here so she resorted to what she thinks would work best. Rapidly, Hikari dashes behind the second one aligns herself with the first, forming a straight line, now, before the second kobold notices, she performs "Sword Rain" in hopes to throw it straight into the first miner, cancelling the skill.

Combat Dice - 9 - Crit! - 1+1 Damage

With a critical hit, Hikari knocks the second monster into the first, reducing the second's health to half and cancelling the first's skill. With both stunned, she attempts to move behind the pile formed from the two kobolds, stopped by the first one having recovered from its daze. The kobold prepares its "Skull Cracker", a very predictable move when used by average kobolds, but these seemed faster, stronger, wiser. Hikari dodges to the side as the miner slams into the ground where she used to be, immediately removing its pick from it. Indeed, these were different, they did not get stuck if they missed with this skill, instead they recover immediately. For a moment, Hikari thought about what to do, she picked up a rock, throwing it at the kobold in front of her. The enemy wouldn't be dazed but it did close its eyes for a moment. That was the opportunity she was looking for, as soon as she had thrown the rock, the enemy closed its eyes for a split second and she dashed, slashing the kobold's torso. At this moment, the second kobold would be charging "Circle".
