[SP-F1] <<Earning a living>> (Completed)

Recommended Posts

Skylar wondered if it could be the fact that he was using a weapon instead of an actual saw, that lowered the probability of the program failing.  If that was the case he may have to continue this quest tomorrow. "No I will not give up!" He shouted at the voices in his head. He stabbed at the next tree, not really caring what it looked like and activated the program. It actually worked to his pleasant surprise, he danced from happiness as he collected the one stop closer to becoming a performer.

Skylar was pretty excited about his last success. So excited he repeated the process again on a birch right next to him. The attempt failed and the tree burst  into numbers. So much for random numbers in this game.

Wondering if he activated the program to enough random trees instead of looking for a good tree. Would the chances of getting the wood he needs increases? Then again what happens to all of the trees that leave? Then again it was a game so as far as he knew the trees would be back in 40 seconds. Still he moved to the next tree and tried, the program failed leaving him to move on.

Skylar moved to a nice looking Sycamore. Not like he could help preferring to cut the nicer looking ones it was just a habit. Better trees yield better fruit his mama always said. Skipping lightly by the tree he thrust his dagger and started the program. "Awe Man" it was another bust as the tree disappeared without leaving the wood.

Skylar wished his sisters were here. If all his family worked together there would be no way they could not get this done they were a great team. They may not be here but Skylar could feel their spirit and that was all he needed. He got up and tried again, the attempt failed and no rewards were given.

Skylar moved on to the next tree and thrust. The attempt failed and the tree dissipated. He cried a little but continued to move on after throwing a bit of a tantrum. He threw rocks and dirt everywhere making him a cute little mess. Then he picked himself up and moved on to the next tree.

Skylar spotted a small little birch not that big but why not try it. At this point he really wanted to get this quest over with as it was hot! He put the point of his dagger into the tree and activated the wood cut program. The program was a success as the tree vanished and materialized a piece of wood in the wake of it.

At this point Skylar was pretty happy. The quest was going really well and he had to admit, he was hot and sweaty from the sun but cutting actual trees down would have been worse. He moved on to the next tree and thrust his dagger into the bark. The attempt was unsuccessful and he was left with nothing.

His body was feeling nice as his work made him more steady. He had nothing to fear from this small part of the woods in fact he was almost done here entirely. He skipped to the next tree and brought the dagger down right in the center activating the program. It was a bust as the program failed and he gained nothing.

"Noooooooooo!" Skylar yelled as the last tree he punctured burst and dissipated. So close yet all he needs is one more frickin piece of wood. He may not give up be he could feel another tantrum brewing inside of him. He was like a storm cloud waiting to burst.

After taking a break to throw another temper tantrum. Skylar made a running start at his next target tree and jumped. "AAAARRR" *crash*     *Bam*

As soon as his dagger touched the tree he fell through. The attempt left him flat on his face in a spread eagle position. He mumbled incoherently as he got up onto his knees.

Skylar was a lot more calm now. The sun was beginning to go over the top of the sky signaling the afternoon. He had to leave soon or risk death by the monsters that would come out to kill him. Moving over to the very outskirts of the forest he approached one last tree. He touched his dagger to the wood and hoped for a miracle. Lo and behold the tree left behind some wood, the last piece he needed before he could leave this forest. He moved over from the forest and followed the river closer to town. The river was collected into a clear little pool. According to what he read about chalky rocks they are actually rocks that dried up and should be dry on all sides.

The pool of water was calm and clear. It was really breath taking, Skylar took of his shoes and pants and wadded into the pool. He stayed on the edge of the pool to where the Chalky Rocks should be. Bending down he picked up a rock and examined it. The rock looked white and very smooth, more like a polished milk, then a chalky appearance. He sat the rock down and moved to the next one.

Skylar removed his shirt and put it with the rest of his gear. The water was nice and he could relax a little, he ducked underneath and swam for a bit to cool himself down and get the sweat off. The pool was just as big as his bath tub at home, very chilly, but just as big. He came towards the edge of the pool and looked for a chalky rock. One rock in particular caught his eye. It looked like spoiled milk but still looked chalky. He picked it up and examined it all over. It was chalky like and left white powder on his skin. It must be a chalky rock! With a big smile on his face he searched for the next one.

Skylar scanned the edge of the pool for another chalky rock. He found one that was actually just like the first, it left marks and everything. He turned it over to examine the bottom and discovered that it was crystallized. Just his look he would find an incomplete one. He thew it over his shoulder and continued to look for another one.

Skylar wadded further away from his gear to another spot on the edge of the pool to examine some rocks. So far the Chalky Rocks were the easiest things for him to find. He picked up one from the ground and examined it. It was just like the first chalky rock he found except slightly bigger. That was perfect for him. Now all he had to do was find one more blasted Chalky Rock and complete this quest.

The warm afternoon felt nice now that he was in the water. His cinnamon toned skinned gleamed with the sun shinning upon it. He spotted what seemed to be a chalky rock an examined it. This rock was Chalky White all the way around but it left no white marks on his skin. Not the type of Chalky Rock he needed.

Skylar moved closer to his stuff before he spotted the white of a rock. He bent down to pick it up but it was only another milky one. Not what he was actually looking for. He got out of the pool and stood next to his clothes, shaking his curly brown dreads to get the water out.

Skylar stood by his clothes drying off for a minute. Now that his quest was almost complete and the sun would not set for another 3 hours. He was pretty good to go. He could not believe he spent all day on this freaking quest. He laughed at the hardship of it all. After noticing a rock next to his feet he bent to pick it up. The rock was only white on one side and not even chalky a  total dud.

Skylar was singing, dancing, and generally feeling please with himself. His first quest here on SAO and he completed it all by himself. Well with the exception of one rock but how hard could that be? He picked up the nearest white rock, looked at it, and chucked it. Not even close to what he was looking for.
