[F8-PP] A Child's Request (Takao)

Recommended Posts

The Irishman's paralysis technique worked, and Takao was able to easily regain his footing on top of the monster. Making use of a sword skill, Takao easily was able to take out the remaining of the monster's HP. Jomei smirked and crossed his arms and Takao's sword cleaved straight through the large boulder that was the golem's head. "Hah, that was fun." Jomei barked out with a laugh, placing his rapier back in its scabbard. "Alright now that thats out of the way, we just need to bring the bear back to the girl.." Clenching his fist confidently, knowing their mission was pretty much a success, then he turned his body around to look at the docks off in the distance "..now we just need to figure out how to get back there." a bead of sweat, dripping down his cheek. "Any ideas?" He turned his head around to look over Takao as he called to him over his shoulder. He noticed the man did something to move the boat.. but was not sure what or where it currently was.

Takao brushed himself off as he glanced around, confirming that there were no other immediate threats to their well-being despite their precarious position atop the water-logged outcropping of rocks. Once he arrived at the conclusion that they weren't in danger anymore, at least by the hands of monsters, he raised his sword and slid it into the protective housing over his shoulder. A low hum rumbled in his throat as Jomei spoke, and his green eyes began to scan the area. "Right, ideas..." he said. Swimming back was the most direct means, as it didn't seem as though the water was shallow enough to wade through, yet it was also the most dangerous. If it wasn't the current that did them in, he was almost entirely positive that some kind of unseen monster would. Hopping back using the rocks wouldn't be possible either, as they didn't reach all the way back to the docks. The obvious choice was the boat, which Takao had kicked aside. "Hrm... drawin' a blank here. How about yo-" he said as he cast a sidelong glance to his shoulder, which was notably devoid of the dragon-like monster. "Otoko?" he said with a rather confused tone. Takao had almost forgotten he left the monster on the boat prior to engaging the rock golem.

He glanced aside while searching for his familiar and finally found him nearby, one arm holding onto a rock and the other onto the boat. "Otoko! There you are!" he said, utilizing his <<Acrobatics>> skill to leap from rock to rock until he reached both his familiar and the boat. "Hey, the boat's over here!"

With his arms crossed, Jomei looked around the area for some sort of way to get back. The trees were way to tall to be of any use.. besides.. hitting them would only cause <Immortal Object> to pop up in front of them, making it impossible anyway. Didnt look like there were any downed trees they could move either.. or else they could maybe make a bridge or something. He tried hopping to other rocks to see if they lead closer to the docks.. No dice. He placed his hand on the top of his head, scratching it. The only thing being worse than being stranded on an island.. was being stranded on an island and not able to reach your chance at salvation.. He let out a sigh as he looked down towards the murky water, which would be their last resort at making it back. Not only did he not know how deep it was.. but the current would make swimming much harder. That was also not taking into consideration that there were most likely monsters at the bottom of the water, waiting for unsuspecting players to take a dip. "Well.. guess we just have to find the boat."

It was not long before Takao seemed to go off looking for Otoko..which he assumed was his familiar. He watched as the man went off looking... but soon called back stating he found the boat. Jomei smirked and went to Takao's position, only to see his familiar had saved the boat. "Hah! Good on ya Otoko!" Jome helped Takao retrieve his familiar as well as the boat. With the two back in their craft, they both struggled to row the boat against the current, pushing off rocks when they could to give them an extra boost to get back to the docks.

Takao gave his familiar a thorough head rub before retrieving the boat with Jomei's help. With a bit of elbow grease and hard work, they managed to toil their way back upstream to where the docks were. With Takao being at the helm, he was the first to disembark, and held the small vessel steady for Jomei afterward. "Y'know, that went a lot better than I was expecting." he said as he cast a glance down at the murky water, almost as if he was expecting something to burst out from the tenebrous depths. Usually his optimism would've prevented himself from jumping to the worst case scenario, but the likelihood just seemed too probable for him to blatantly ignore. "Really wasn't expecting a rock monster of all things to be what attacked us either." he said as he took what remained of the rope he'd severed earlier and reattached the boat to the docks, albeit not as sturdy as it had been before. "I think that'll do me in the way of adventuring for today, though. Let's get that bear back to the girl."

Jomei used one of the oars to push off of one of the trees poking out of the water, propelling the boat forward against the current of the water. "Yeah.. You know, it could have been a lot worse." he said with a smirk. Before this all started, Jomei was doubting the two with the success in finding the stuffed toy. The odds of finding something that was maybe about the size of his head in a body of water that is believed to span across the entire floor were pretty slim. However, the two beat those odds and found what they were looking for. "Hah, neither was I." Jomei replied to Takao admitting he did not expect to fight a rock golem in these waters, "I honestly expected to find that anaconda you mentioned before.. but what would be the fun in something you expect, huh."

Upon the boat touching upon the dock, Takao hopped out of the boat and provided support for Jomei as he made it to the wooden surface as well. He took the oars from the boat and placed them back where they belonged under the staircase while Takao tied the remainder of the rope to the post they cut it from. He placed his hands on his hips and let out a huff of air while looking out over the horizon the water created. "Aye. Gotta admit, was pretty fun though." he turned to Takao with a smirk on his face, "Remind me to party up with you again, eh lad?" he reached out his fist for Takao to bump knuckles with.

After the long climb back up the spiraling staircase, the two retraced their steps back to where they originally found the girl. She was sitting on the ledge of the platform, her short legs dangling over with a face of longing for the return of her stuffed friend. With a smile on his face, Jomei looked over to Takao, and then back to the girl. He got down on one knee and tapped the girl on the shoulder. Once she turned around, Jomei held out the small toy for the girl to take. With tears of joy in her eyes, the girl stood up.. while standing she was about the height of the tall Jomei who was kneeling. She wrapped her arms around Jomei's neck, nearly choking him, saying 'Thankyouthankyouthankyou' over and over again. She then ran over to Takao and latched onto his leg, doing the same thing. Afterwards, the two players parted ways with another mission completed.
